Darkfist007 Peace is, sadly, against human nature. We just gotta have a few of us treat eachother well, and that will make others treat each other well, and it grows. I agree.

instead of fighting a violent war, lets start a hug-war! you have to hug everyone you know, and strangers you meet in the street (unless they are like really horrible and nasty) and tell them to d othe same. bingo! everyone starts hugging people! Yay, man!

Unfortunately, there will never be complete global pacifism. It's an ideal that's just impossible to reach due to human nature.
However, that doesn't mean that there's not things we can do to decrease the devastation of wars and the violence of everday life.
Governments can try to decrease war efforts by sending troops in to areas to fight as a last ditch effort only. War is strategic - it is not something that should just be thrown around. Conferences and other means of solving problems, such as negotiations, should be implemented before a full-out war is put into place. However, other factors such as hostility and anger make other such steps hard.
Wars aren't the only sources of violence, they're just large-scale and therefore gain more attention. Street wars, gangs, domestic abuse and everyday violence must be addressed to cut down violence as a whole. It is an anthropological fact that societies that value war and aggression in men have more cases of violence, and that the world's two most common instances of violence is violence agaist women and violence against children. Things such as poverty and social stratification (differing social classes and places) cause violence when members of the society become upset about their situations. These factors also cause wars, whether they be wars within same nations or nations fighting other nations.
What can we do to decrease everyday violence?
Spreading awareness about global social problems such as the ones mentioned above, also homelessness, natural disasters, etc. Nothing gets done if people aren't informed. On a larger level, programs should be created or existing programs should have more funding to help those in need; i.e. Battered Women's Shelters, Homeless Shelters (and resources to help keep them safer), food programs for feeding the poor in all nations (third world and industrial - there's a need for it in both), and etc. On a smaller level in which everyone can participate is volunteering in such programs or helping out in some other way, such as donating or even informing someone who could use a service of the service's existance. Taking steps to avoid violence in your individual life not only creates a healthier environment for yourself, but helps to cut down the violence around you. Learning how to deal with anger issues, if you or anyone has them, is a good start.
Talk about peace is good.
Action to prevent violence is better. <3
