"Oh... Wow." Donnie was getting short of breath, but they were almost there. Korcha passed him just as they reached the castle gates and Donnie slowed himself, his feet hitting the cobblestone hard. He was breathing heavily now, walked slowly around.

"Woooh, fun!"

The wind was blocked by the walls of the courtyard, and the trees and grass were mostly undisturbed by the weather outside. The sun was still clouded over, but the vegetation was still.
If it was nicer, they might have stayed and admired the courtyard further, but Donnie wanted to get inside, curious about the basement.

"Want to go in... now?"

Daisy found herself in the courtyard after the others. She was tired, but glad they were out of the wind. "Sure. I've been inside once before. I got lost." She blushed a little as she was embarassed that she got lost so often.

Korcha rested a bit and put his fishing pole on the ground to use as a cane for the moment. "Yeah, sounds good. I've never been." He looked around at the courtyard. It was a nice place. Needed a fishing pond, though.

Jr. galloped and stopped next to Daisy. He whinned as he had had fun.

"Alright then." He looked around the area, only finding a large door that they couldn't open. The castle may have been closed, or perhaps that door wasn't a public entrance, or something.

Look left, Donnie

Donnie looked left, but saw nothing.

"Hang on." He jogged over to the left side of the building and found a small wooden door on the side of the building. It had a single step leading up to it, and was obviously less frequented than the main gate.

He turned his head, and enthusiastically called back to the others. "I think I found something!"

Daisy watched Donnie. "Yeah, there is a big door with steps that I used. I can't remember where." She said as she watched him find another door. "That'll work." She walked over to him smiling.

Jr. followed Daisy over to Donnie.

"Are you sure we should use that door? Maybe it's for someone else?" Korcha said as he thought about it. Then again, it might lead right to the basement. "Oh, well let's go!"

Even as Korcha spoke, Donnie was already tugging at the handle. It clicked open and the door opened slowly outward. Looking in he saw stairs going up, and down a small vertical shaft, doors leading off at every floor.

"Hey guys. I found our way down."

Daisy smiled and looked in. "Kinda dark." She said as she wasn't sure about this. Then again, she hadn't done anything like this before. Mostly just shoping and being lost.

Jr. whinnied but didn't mine it at all.

"Okay, I guess that's our best way." Korcha said as he looked inside.

Donnie peered into the darkness. It was kind of dark, but he could already feel the subtle strain as his pupils widened to compensate for the change in lighting.

Without looking back, he signalled for them to follow as he made his way through the doorway and onto the first steps that lined the wall to his right.

"Close that behind you, kay?"

Daisy picked up Jr and walked in after Donnie. It was dark and kinda creepy. She wasn't so sure about this anymore. Shopping, while windy, still might have been fun.

Korcha walked in last. He shut the door just as Donnie had asked it. Now it was darker. "Now, how do we know where to go?" He asked as he felt the wall to not walk into it.

As the door was shut, it became apparent they were'nt in complete darkness. as their eyes adjusted to the lower light, they could soon make out the shapes they could once see before. "There." Donnie stated happily before making his way down the stairs.

Looking down he could see they only had a few flights before they ran out of stairs. In one corner, better lit than the rest of the stairwell, he could see a door. "We're almost there."

Daisy could see it too. She followed Donnie down the stairs. She held on to Jr. to make sure he was with her and safe. Daisy didn't want him to get lost.

Korcha followed after them. "Want to hold on to my fishing pole?" He asked Daisy. This was she wouldn't get lost or ahead of him.

Daisy giggled. "K" and took hold it it.

If donnie was a little older, he might have taken that the wrong way, but naive, he continued to the bottom step, reaching the door and grasping the handle.

He pushed the lever and pulled open the door, revealing a big room littered with pipes and metal boxes. This was certainly a basement, though Donnie couldn't imagine what most of it was for.

"Hmm. Any ideas?"

Daisy made her way inside. She felt the wall for a light swich if there was one. "So, this is the basement? It's pretty dirty and looks unused." Daisy said she feeling the wall.

Jr. jumped from Daisy's arms and stayed at her feet. He wasn't sure about this place.

Korcha walked inside and nodded to them. "Yep, that's what it looks like. Do you think there is anything in the boxes?" He had heard of there being neat things in attics, however he didn't know about basements.

He though for a moment, looking around the dimly lit room. The area was entirely bathed in red, the only light coming from low-powered back up lights. It's not that the main ones didn't work, they just weren't needed right now.

"The boxes probably hold machinery, for adjusting air temperature," he noticed that some of the pipes were smaller than the wide ones used for the air ducts, "and likely to heat water as well."

He peered around, noticing te majority of the area was divided by metalic walkways almost a foot aoff of the main floor. At even intervals, the railing made way for steps down to the actual floor. "What do you think we should look at?"

Daisy nodded and stopped looking for the light switch. "Oh, humm...I don't know." She said as she gazed about the place. It just looked like a drity basement to her. Was there much to be found there?

Jr. sat next to Daisy not wanting to go anywhere without her. He whinnied a bit as he looked to the others.

Korcha scrached his head. "Well, since this is where you wanted to go, you can pick." He said nicely to Donnie with a smile.

Where did he want to go? This wasn't exactly his idea, as they believed, but telling them his stuffed rabbit speaks to him wasn't exactly the most sane thing to say.

He paused for a moment, hoping for some guidance but nothing. Frank only ever spoke at his own discretion, and Donnie squeezed the rabbit against his hip rather annoyedly.

He looked left and right, scanning the room for something. To one side, he saw another door, partially hidden from his view by one of the metallic boxes, but craning his neck, and jumoing up loudly, he could see it was unobstructed.

"Well, let's go check that door out."
