Oh... Very Good whee I was hoping there would be a short story competition.
Well, here is a story that I wrote for my Narative writing project in school, the last four chapters were made in 1 hour!!! eek
It's separated in to little chapter like things okay?

Cave Caught
Chapter One: Trouble!

“Guys! Where are you?”
Holly sat on the rocky surface in the shadowy cave, her chocolate hair sticking to her wet cheeks.
Holly’s rear end ached from the fall and she hugged her knees to her chest.
Her wet chin rested on her knees and tears rolled down her pale cheeks “W-where?”
The watery moan echoed through the hollow space.
She let go of her legs and pressed her hands on the rocky ground behind her. While pushing the ground she pulled herself up. Holly clumsily walked over to a slimy rock wall.
She fell against it and moaned with pain “Ethan? Katherine? N-n-eo?” She cried
Holly suddenly looked up in fright as a distorted roar echoed through the cave. It wasn’t long until Holly recognised this sound “Neo!?” She called
Holly ran across the sharp rocks cutting her feet in the process in the process. Suddenly she stopped and felt the ground beneath her. The surface was slimy and slippery.
She dropped to her hands and knees and crawled further along the slime. Holly’s hand quickly dropped and she pulled it out with surprise.
“Water?” She asked herself “How did water get in the cave?”
Holly face turned paler than it normally was, she had remembered something important. The cave would be filled with water as the moon rises, the cave was out deep but it was low tide so she had 4 hours to find Ethan and Katherine.
Holly had to find them soon, but she’d need to be much faster.

Chapter Two: Neo

Another roar echoed through the cave.
“Neo!” Holly screamed happily.
She climbed to her feet and followed the frightening roar.
Holly screamed as she fell back onto the rocks.
She slowly stood and steadied herself. Holly walked forward until she came to a furry and soft lump on the ground. “Neo!” She cried, “What happened?”
Neo moaned a reply.
“Oh, Neo I’m so glad I found you, now come on, get up” Holly pushed Neo’s back to help him stand.
The stubborn bear didn’t move.
“Neo, we have to find Ethan”
Neo moaned.
“And Katherine” Holly added, “What’s the matter mate”
Neo stood to reveal a large bleeding cut across his side.
“Oh no Neo, we’ll fix you up as soon as we find the others and find the way out.”
Neo roared powerful thanks and leaned to the side and Holly climbed onto his cold, wet but comfortable back.
“Do you know where the others are?” Holly whispered into Neo’s furry ear.
Neo nodded and raised a large paw then placed it in front of him.
He struggled but continued to walk.
“Who are we looking for first?” Holly asked.
Neo growled.
Holly knew that this meant they were looking for Ethan because of his bossy attitude.

Chapter Three: Nothing

Holly still sat up straight on the bears soft back.
The cave was very silent, the only thing Holly could hear was the pitter-patter of dripping water and the soft pounding sound of Neo padding down the side of the stream.
It had been almost half an hour since they’d started looking for Ethan. Holly was tired already but she kept herself awake so she wouldn’t fall off the large bear and hurt herself like before.

Five minutes later there was still no sign of Ethan and Holly’s eyes grew very sore. She was so tired that Neo had to carefully lift her into the freezing stream.
Holly screamed. “You stupid animal! What did you do that for?!”
Neo let out a roar and leaned towards Holly.
Holly climbed back onto his back as she felt her dark red shirt and her rich chocolate brown hair stick to her pale skin.

Neo continued to walk through the damp cave across the sharp rocks.
The ground beneath them was weak and Neo thought it might collapse when they least expected it.
Holly could sense his fear.
“It’s okay” She said “they ground won’t collapse”
Neo roared frightfully.
Have you ever heard of Murphy’s Law?
If you have, you’ll know what happens next…
the ground collapsed suddenly and rocks scraped against them as they fell.
When they landed Holly’s eyes snapped open and there was nothing… just nothing.

Chapter Four: Ethan

There was darkness all around them.
Holly was hugging the great bear tightly and listening
to herself curse the cave and cry about the aches she had.
Pulling her arm from underneath Neo took quite a lot of time, time that Holly didn’t enjoy.
She climbed to her feet and looked around herself terrified by the darkness.
But the darkness wasn’t what scared the dark silhouette of a teen-aged boy
sitting against what must’ve been a wall or large rock.
“Wh-Who’s there?” asked Holly
“Quiet” the boy replied
“Ethan?
“I said be quiet”
Holly back away as she felt the tears come to her eyes and her voice falling into a whisper.
“Why? Who are you?” Where am I?”
“Holly! I told you to be quiet!” the boy yelled
"Ethan! It is you!” Holly screamed happily and threw her arms around Ethan hugging him excitedly.
A roar comes from Neo as he stood and walked towards the two siblings.
“What is it Neo?” Holly asked but soon found out the answer as a larger bear walked up beside Neo.

Chapter Five: Brother Bear

The other bear roared and swiped the air.
“Who’s this Neo?” Holly asked nervously.
Neo didn’t reply and backed away as the bigger bear pounced towards Ethan and Holly.
Ethan and Holly quickly climbed to their feet and ran away.
“That’s why I told you to be quiet” Ethan yelled.
Holly frowned “You’re mean” She muttered and continued to run.
They seemed to be running up hill because the cave grew lighter and they were certain they weren’t on flat ground.
Now that the two could see where they were going running away became much easier.
They turned corners and avoided branches or holes in the rock surface.
Holly smiled at Ethan but Ethan didn’t even glance at her, maybe he took the last comment too seriously.
Holly frowned again and continued to run.
The only thing Ethan said through the whole time was “It must be Neo’s older brother or something”
Holly ignored the comment and continued to run.
Soon they both shared the same exhausted look and stopped to catch their breath.
During the time when they were catching their breath neither of them said anything, they didn’t even look at each other.

Chapter Six: Katherine

The bear must have stopped because Ethan or Holly couldn’t see it anywhere.
“We’ve lost it” Holly panted.
“Who’s there” Called a female voice “Is that you Holly?”
Holly looked up “Katherine? Where are you?”
Katherine walked out from the corner of the cave with a shy smiled across her face.
Ethan and Holly smiled back. “Hwy, where’s Neo?” Katherine asked.
“Oh no! We forgot about Neo!” Holly said
A roar made the three jump.
Neo clumsily padded along the side of the cave then collapsed about a meter away from the three.
“Neo!” Katherine and Holly screamed in unison and ran over to the bear. The cut across his side had been bleeding even more and another series of small cuts surrounded it.
The other bear must’ve attacked Neo. Holly did her best to rap her arms around the bear’s thick neck. Katherine brushed a hand across the cut as Neo let out a distorted moan.
“Oh Neo, I’ve broken a promise, I thought we’d be out earlier” Holly cried “I can’t fix you if you die… please, don’t die”
Holly felt the tear well up in her eyes and then burst out into tears. Katherine was silently whimpering by Neo’s side and her tears fell against Neo’s thick fur coat.
Everyone fell silent.

Chapter Seven: Death, tears and rush

Tears rolled down Holly’s and Katherine’s faces as Neo’s breathing slowed and finally stopped.
Neo was dead. Katherine had lost all hope in escaping from the cave, she couldn’t stand the situation. Neo was dead, a mad bear was chasing them and Ethan wouldn’t speak.
Ethan shook his head and continued walking through the cave. He thought they must’ve lost the bear. Holly and Katherine caught up with him and shared miserable faces.
They all stop dead in their tracks as the large bear stood in their way. Katherine screamed and spun around. Holly and Ethan were too frightened to move until they finally came to the senses and turned around then ran for their lives with Katherine only meters ahead of them and the bear the same distance behind them. The exit was far away they could just make out the faint light of the afternoon sun.
Katherine must have gained speed and reached the exit already because Ethan and Holly couldn’t see her anywhere.
The large bear pounced into the air and landed only around 20 meters away. Holly panicked and ran faster towards the exit leaving in her dust.
Ethan frowned then sped up as well. It didn’t take long for Ethan to catch up with Holly. Holly looked at Ethan as he ran past her and she felt tears well up in her eyes. She quickly wiped the tears from her eyes when she realised she’d made it out of the cave and the bear had left them alone.
Holly grinned “Come on. Let’s go home.”

Chapter Eight: Home at last

Holly ran quickly to the tall brick house and swung open the large wooden door. “Mum! We’re home!” She yelled happily.
Ethan was the next to arrive at the house and he smiled at how Holly could still be so happy after what they’d just been through.
Katherine arrived last and hadn’t managed to be as cheerful as Holly, she was shivering and her eyes shifted around the room nervously as she sat down on the large white couch.
“Hey Katherine” Holly started “ Do you want something to eat?”
Katherine shook her head and picked up the large black TV remote. She turned on the TV and changed the channel to TV2. Sponge bob was just ending. It was only 4:30! When did they leave? It must have been early in the morning because they were in there for at least 8 hours. Katherine sighed and changed the channel. “Ethan?” She said
“Yeah” Ethan replied
“Who do you think the second bear was?”
“Probably Neo’s brother”
“Oh, his Brother Bear”
They both laughed and Holly came back into the room carrying a glass of orange juice and smiled at them.
“So… when do you guys want to go back” Holly asked
Katherine glared at her “Never”
Ethan, Holly and Katherine all laughed.

Okay, Okay! So there are probably multiple spelling and grammar mistakes but who gives a ---- sweatdrop Err hehe...
And I know it's short but so is Mark Twain's 'Was it Heaven or Hell'... well 'Was it Heaven or Hell' is longer but still!!!

Hmm...Let me think a bit I'll probably post something.

..... how short does it have to be excately? I am working on the 50k novel thing.... -points to sig- Yeah... umm cause my novel thing is getting to be umm kinda LONG.... and... I am not even close to where I should be.... I have 8k words.... when by now I would need 16k.... I am not going to make it but... I am going to finish my story... one way or nother....


Wow that was a bunch of ramble anyway um yea how short does it have to be?

Well I am never going to get the 50k thing done I haven't worked on it for like 2 weeks... and yeah.. sweatdrop to busy with school Soooo I think I might just post what I have... on the internet well rather on my um dA lol

The Morning After

Dawn awoke to the sound of birds chirping and sun glazing in her eyes. Dawn grumbled as she rolled out of bed. She had to admit she wasn’t much of a morning person. Dawn stretched and wondered when she had fallen asleep. She stood there for a few minutes trying remember but she couldn’t. As a matter of a fact Dawn didn’t even remember going to bed in the first place. She shrugged it off and headed down stairs for breakfast.

Dawn entered the kitchen to see her parents already eating. “Good morning” she said. He parents said nothing.

Hmm… Dawn thought, maybe they didn’t hear me. “MORNING” Dawn said louder making sure her parents could hear her. Still they said nothing they just sat there going about their business.

It didn’t really bother Dawn that much after all she was kind of used to her parent ignoring her. They always seemed too busy or didn’t have time for her but for some reason this seemed different. It is like they didn’t notice that she was in the room. Why are they ignoring me like this? Dawn thought to herself as she sat down at the table.

Dawn was used to not getting much out of her parents in the morning, or anytime for that matter, but they would at least greet her. They must be mad, Dawn thought, probably at me. Why else would they be ignoring me like this? Dawn sat there wondering what she had done to piss them off so bad to where they weren’t even speaking to her.

Dawn was still sitting at the table pondering when her parents left the kitchen and when up stairs. The more Dawn thought about her parents the more she was realizing that should couldn’t remember what all happened yesterday. For some time Dawn sat there and thought about why her parents could be mad. Coming up with nothing Dawn thought: Well I guess the best thing to since I can’t remember what the hell happened is to go and talk to my parents. With a nod Dawn stood up a headed for the living room to wait for her parents.

Dawn sat there in silence. She just sat there starring at the wall letting her mind wonder. When her parent finally came down stairs Dawn was kind of taken aback because her parents were dressed nicely. This was strange because her parents hardly ever dressed up. Jokingly Dawn asked “Ok, who died?” Dawn received no reaction what so ever. They just simply walked by her and out the door without even so much as a glance at her. Maybe I shouldn’t have said that Dawn thought as she followed her parents to the car.

“So, seriously where are we going?” Dawn asked. Her parents just climbed into the car. s**t! Dawn thought I best keep my mouth shut before I get into anymore trouble. The last thing I need to do is to get into more trouble. Damn I hate this silent treatment Dawn thought as they all drove off. To where? Dawn did not know. She didn’t even have a clue; all she knew was that this day wasn’t looking too good.

What seemed like an eternity car finally came to a stop. I wonder where we are, Dawn thought as she began to look around. It wasn’t long before Dawn realized they were at a cemetery. “Did someone really die?” Dawn asked. Then Dawn began to feel horrible for the comment she had made earlier. She didn’t know they were going to funeral. How was she supposed to know? Her parents weren’t talking to her. “I’m soooo sorry! I didn’t know please don’t be mad at Me.” her parents nothing, nothing at all, they got out of the car and started to walk into the cemetery.

Where are we going a funeral? God Dawn you’re such a dunder head. You could have say church but Nooooo you has to say a funeral. Oh well, I best zip my lips from now on. I still want to know who died. But she dared not ask again even thought she desperately wanted to know. She didn’t want to upset her parents anymore than they already were. So together they walked slowly towards the rest of the funeral party.

Dawn still wanted to know whose funeral they were at but she couldn’t see the tombstone from where they were standing from. So Dawn decided she would ask the lady standing next to her. “Excuse me,” Dawn whispered “but whose funeral is this?” The lady said nothing. “Hellooo?” Dawn said waving her hand at the lady trying to get her attention. Fine don’t answer me! Dawn said sourly. Dawn stood there for a few moments trying not to let the fact that she had no idea whose funeral she was at bother her. I can’t take it anymore! Dawn exclaimed. So she walked up to the tombstone and read the name “Dawn Montgomery.” What!? That can’t be right. I must have read it wrong. She read it again “Dawn Montgomery.” “This is some kind of joke right?” she said looking around the crowd of people. Nobody responded. Nobody even looked at her. It was like she wasn’t even there.

Like a wave the memories came flooding back consuming Dawn with complete sadness. This was no joke. Charles, her parents, the note, the knife…the knife. Dawn collapsed tears streaming down her face. It was all so crystal clear now.

It was Friday afternoon when Charles came up to her and asked if she wanted to come over tomorrow night. He said that his parents were going to be out of town. We could have some alone if you wanted to. Of course she had agreed after all Dawn had always kind of liked Charles. He said good, how is seven then? We can watch a movie or something. Dawn agreed.

The following night Dawn went over to Charles’s house. Charles put on a movie but the movie seemed to be the last thing on his mind. It seemed to be that Dawn was the only thing on his mind. Charles placed his hand on Dawn thigh. Dawn thought *ok he does like me* but then Charles began to move his hand upwards. Dawn was uncomfortable with this. “No Charles” Dawn said pushing his hand off of her leg.

“Come on” Charles wined.

“No” Dawn said.

“Why not? There is nobody home”

“Because I don’t want to.”

“Please?”

“No. I don’t want to….Now please stop and let’s watch the movie.” Dawn said feeling rather pressured.

“You know you want to” Charles said with a sinister grin.

“I do not. Now PLEASE stop….No more…STOP IT…..please…please” but Charles didn’t stop. He had forced himself on her. He had raped her. Dawn couldn’t believe it. She ran all the way home crying hysterically. How could he have done this!? They have been such good friends for years.

When Dawn got home she scrambled up the stairs to her parents bedroom. They were in the mist of an argument when Dawn entered the room.

“Mom! Dad!” Dawn cried.

“Not right now Dawn can’t you see your father and I are having an argument?” her mother said angrily.

“Yes but…”

“No buts”

Tears began swelled up in Dawn’s eyes again “But Mom something really ba…”

“I said not now!” her mother said interrupting her “Go now or you’ll be grounded little missy”

“Dad…”

“You heard your mother” her father said.

“PLE...” Dawn began to beg when her mother intruded her again “NOW!” Her mother said pointed her finger towards the door. Completely devastated Dawn retreated to her room.

Dawn couldn’t believe how mean her parents were to her. They wouldn’t even let her get one word out. How could they? Dawn thought over and over again in her head. I don’t even have my parents to talk to…I have no one….no one to help when I need them the most…. I can’t take this anymore….I can’t live with this…

Dawn knew what her only choice was. Dawn just couldn’t live her life with this burden. Tears blurred her vision as she wrote her final good byes. When she was done she took the note and stumbled out of the room.

Dawn walked into the kitchen and saw it, her escape. As she held it up it twinkled like the stars in the sky here to take her away from this offal place. Her release was here at last. It was her salvation. A strange joy came over Dawn as she placed the blade gently agents her wrist. She smiled as she slowly dragged the knife across her arm. She stood there in aw as she watched her life force slowly drip from he veins. Then all went dark.

Dawn had killed herself. Dawn sat there sobbing in to her hands when she felt a hand touch her shoulder. Dawn dried her eyes. She knew who it was and why he was here. He gave her his hand and gently helped Dawn to her feet. “Ready?” He asked.

Dawn nodded and together they slowly walked into the light.
