I think you've established a nice community out of the participants in the game. They all pretty much know each other, and despite the obvious objective of basically slaughtering each other's opinions, they seem to get along fairly well.
You should leave the crew subforum as it is, just in the odd case you ever need crew, so they'll have a place to discuss. I reckon this guild could do nicely as just a general discussing guild, only with the main focus of the guild being the game. You know - familiar people with a similar goal and area to participate in talking amongst each other?
In other words, I think, if possible, you should make a new forum for General Discussion. I'd be happy to help with the gold for that if you wanted.

Oops, my mistake! I hadn't realised general discussion was already permitted. ^^;
In that case, I think it's fine in the main forum. As long as the important threads stay stuck, there shouldn't be a problem, no?
