"Same here," Yero rumbled softly, his wine-red eyes distant, as if looking back on an old memory, and his face taking on a slightly wizened look. He corrected his features and cleared his thoughts.
Yero was actually grateful that Hige refered to her as 'Selia'. Yero was making himself adjust accordingly but perhaps the use of 'Mother' would seem a little strange at first between the two anyway.
"I came to these woods very young." He said, falling back into that wistful look, this time not bothering to save face. After a moment's pause he said "..Selia was the first wolf I really got to know. There were a couple others I saw, but I had an aversion to males.."
(( Don't mind him being all Hamlet-ish. whee *points up at his past* He's just still figuring out how to deal, not very used to being emotional 'til Whinny-kins came along xd ))

~It sounds just like my story...~
Hige scratched a bit behind his ear with his back leg, arching his neck of course to do so. "So you've been here a while, I take it. Sorry, but I kind of suck at small talk." Hige admitted, straightening to lie down again.

The older wolf smiled at Hige's self criticism. "Me too. I'm still learning a lot of things about socializing," He gave a resonant chuckle, shaking his large head at the abscurity of social rules. Even as an adult the worry of how to act properly constantly gnawed at the back of his mind. Yero stretched his front legs out lazily, flexing his long black paws into the cool earth in a mellow manner.
"So lets talk bigger talk. Where did you come from? Do you remember your past pack?"

Hige had managed to smirk a bit, glad that Yero seemed to understand exactly what he meant. For someone such as Hige that had never been exposed to pack life behavior before it was something on his mind. It wasn't dire to him that he learn, but he also didn't want to put Selia and Devvyl in any akward spots.
"I remember that I was traveling from the east. I'd had an encounter with a two legger, but anything before that is a little hard to recall.... I was alone for a long time."
Hige lifted his head so that he could look at Yero more easily, tail beating a soft rhythm against the ground. "I can... remember a little bit about our territory though. There were mountains... and a lot of trees, I remember being happy there."

"A two legger?" Yero rumbled softly, settling himself as he exhaled loudly, tilting his head. "I've seen them only from a distance...when I first came to these woods. --Only the dark skinned ones, not the pale man..but the..native ones with their glowing fires." His eyes grew distant as if staring into those fires just then, and the deep red flickered almost as if in reflection.
"Your memory is faulty? Is it like... mother?"
