Well, I know of a good book. Kinda dhild-ish but they use words that are too big for children. It is called Treasure at the Heart of the Tanglewood and it is by Meredith Ann Pierce. Here's the bookcover description:

It describes, basically, the tranformation of the Goddess throughout the seasons. At least, that's what I think of when I read it. xP
