I am a big cryer. I cry sometimes for no reason at all. Also I am known for laughing so hard that I start crying. I can be watching some funny video show or something and start laughing, next thing you know I'm bawling. I used to freak my husband and kids out when I did this, but now they think its funny and love to make me cry. rofl crying

I just looked it up online, and it seems that sometimes the body can't differentiate between emotional pain and physical pain and therefore lets it out int he same way for both.
The website I went to said that when you're a baby you cannot tell people what you want and so the only thing you can do is cry, which can symbolize your attempt of calling for help.
For this reason, it seems that the three things that people do during stress are fight, flight, or cry. You either get angry, run, or call for help, which are the three things that you should do when you or somebody you care about is in danger.

[logout] well... i dont cry much but my cousin does...he's quite emotional and i ask him why he cries...he just says does it matter? it matters alot. you should talk to him and find out. for instance I only cry in pain and I ussualy had a habit of not tlling anyone then nessa came along and to tell you it gets better when someone cares.

dboyzero One of the things I find most depressing about society is the stigma that's been attached to crying, or displaying emotions in general. As if showing emotion suddenly makes you vunerable and weak compared to everyone else. There's absolutely nothing wrong with showing how you feel, and may in fact be healthier for you, mentally and emotionally, if not physically. I think it was from this stand against mainstream culture that the "emo" phase got its start, trying to get people back to showing emotion, the most obvious being pain and sadness. I'm sort of with these guys, but it's good to show when you're happy and enthusiastic about stuff as well. I haven't cried in a very long time, and I can tell you for sure that it's not that great. Crying is a form of release, relieving lots of built up tension and distress. Thanks to social conditioning, I've been building up tension and distress for a few years now. There have been many times I desparately wanted to cry, but found myself physically incapable of doing so. It's my hope that I'll figure something out soon, otherwise I'm afraid I may suffer some sort of nervous breakdown. lucky stare .........

I cry when im in emotional painnormally. Not physical pain unless its really really bad. I havent cried becuse of emotional ain ever since i can remeber. But emotional pain...i remember those times alot.
Is crying involuntary? It sure fels like it. I have tried to suppress my tearsa couple of times, because one of the things i hate most, is crying in front of others. Not because it's embarassing, i just don't like it. Anyway, ive tried supressing my cries, but it doesn't quite work. The tears keep on coming and the sobs won't stop. It's very annoying. Once you start crying, its hard to make it stop ne.
But it's good to cry sometimes, to let out the pain. lol then i'd feel all tired later. I'd go to sleep and when i wake up, it's as thouh nothing's happened. Almost as though nothing happened. ^^

Crying is a way to let go of all emotion... It feels so nice [to me] when someone is really upset and jsut crying makes everything all better... I find that when I'm upset about something after I cry it falls away from my mind... and then I don't have to be upset about it anymore.
As well people can cry out of happiness... Why this happens.. I have no clue ^^; It's only ever happened to me once though.

Like many people have said before, crying is a healthy way of letting out one's emotions. I, however, rarely cry. I'm not saying that I'm better than anyone, I just don't cry simply because I supress that emotion. I wish that I wouldn't do it, but I've been doing it for years and I suppose I'm just used to it. That's probably why I feel so stressed all of the time.

I cry too often because I'm too sensitive. I cry when I'm stressed out from school or work, I cry when people yell at me, I cry when I think about cosmic things too much, I cry when I feel lonely or shunned, I'll cry if I feel like something is wrong, I cry when something bad happens, alll the time. : P Crying is really bizarre... I wonder what it is exactly that makes us cry? Like why people cry... not their motive but the functional reason of it.

bloodlust_angelkel I cry for a bunch of reasons usually it's because I don't like seeing people I love leave me. I hate actually being weak like that. Same here, I have been crying so much latly because of that. ...But it isn't so bad anymore. sweatdrop

when i was younger i cried all the friggin time. geeeeez i was a sensitive lil bugger and couldnt hold the tears back. i could take a slap to the face or whatever but just let me THINK that you thought i was stupid, ugly or whatever, and i was in tears. (my poor family)
these days, thankfully, i cry mostly from witnessing profound beauty rather than perceived disapproval. seeing generosity, my child grow, and well, yeah those special, intimate moments w my husband. yeah, crying is good.

I wish I could cry when I need to. I know I have so much unexpressed pain. On the other hand, my two year old daughter can turn on the drama when she's not even truly upset! Maybe she can release some of my pent up stuff?
I can only truly let myself go if I start crying when I am around my husband and/or daughter. I'm so glad I can at least cry freely around them. Before I became close to my husband, there was no one I could cry around. I've never been able to cry in front of my parents since I was very young. And like my daughter, I suspect those were times with little or no pain involved.
