He smirked and tilted his head at her, those firey eyes lingering on her for a moment, one of those trademark silences he and his mother both took when reveling in their own thoughts. True, it could be taken as a loss for words - but in reality, it was so the opposite that one couldn't even begin to explain it. He only proved this as he began to speak again, his tone ever confident and ever calm - he was his mother's son by all rights of the concept.

"If I was such a bother, Nyunya," he said rather calmly, narrowing his eyes on hers, but not in any sort of unkindly manner, "then you would have walked and left by now. We tend to turn our back on things that challenge our minds or agitate us." He watched her, that smirk lingering in such a manner than any lion that chanced seeing it would immediately want to wipe it off his smug little face. "Considering that you're still here, however, I'd say that you were looking for something to entertain you," he lay down slowly, in front of her rock, paws out before him and his head balanced on them in a manner that mimiced her own position.

"And I was only furthering my explination of an only child, I find that most others can understand my attitude if they can understand that I'm my mother's son. But then, if you don't know her, that would not do you much good - now would it?" No, he couldn't honestly answer why he was explaining, but he could make it sound like it was just another matter-of-fact sort of deal. Still, if Nyunya had ever met her mother (which was highly unlikely) then she would know exactly where his attitude came from. His mother raised him to be her male likeness.

"And I never claimed to be a prince, thank you. I said my mother was a princess and my father was a prince. That makes me nobility of both prides, but a prince of neither." He quirked a brow at her, then let his eyes close slowly, "You were the one that claimed that titled, squirt." Oh yes, he had realized immediately from her own actions that she detested being small. She wouldn't be so stuck on being atop that rock if she didn't. He figured, hell, why not pick on her about it a bit - something his father would have done. Find their weakness. Only, he did it for fun, not to hurt anyone.

He and his father didn't have that in common.

"You are a bother, Taabu, but the fact remains that I was here first, minding my own business - which is more than I can say for you - quite happily sunning myself, and you strolled over to impose upon the first time I've been happily by myself in days." She snorted lightly, closing her eyes as she lifts her head and turns it away from him. "Why should I leave my favourite sunbathing spot in my pride lands just because an irritation wandered over to spoil the quiet with rude accusations?"

"Why would I know your mother? I choose not to venture from these lands just yet, and if she ever wandered into these lands, I never came across her. Of which I'm quite glad, if her attitude is anything like yours." Her tone is as calm as his, though it probably takes more effort on her part than it does on his. After all, she was not quite used to doing so; usually, she let whatever she was feeling bubble to the surface - but something about this rude male made her want to prove, for some reason, that she was just as good, that she could match him. It was annoying, knowing what she was doing and unable to stop.

"And you may not have claimed it, but if your mother is a princess and your father a prince, your title would, theortetically, be that of a prince yourself. I don't claim the title; I have it." But then her lips twitched in something that looked suspiciously like a smile before she removed it from her muzzle. "And don't call me squirt, you big brute." He may seek to pick at her weakness, but this was actually familiar territory for her, that of petty insults. She was quite used to this, and whether or not this struck some kind of nerve, she didn't show it. She knew, from her fights with Feddy, when he picked on her size, being younger but bigger than her, that the best thing for her to do is to just ignore it and brush it off. If he thought he'd get a rise out of her that way, he was wrong.

Taabu prided himself on his battles of will and intelligence, on simply being able to weasel himself out of any little situation given the proper leverage of thought. Taabu could fight them all, the stupid, the smart, even those that resorted to petty insults. Well, at least, he could fight the petty insults that were directed to he and he alone. Once someone started in on his family, particuraly his mother, he found an immediate loss of interest in his witty battle. Hell, he lost immediate interest with anything to do with the namecaller themselves. He always saw insults as a last resort, a way for someone losing to pick themselves up from the ground, but once he heard the first insult was when he decided whether or not his battle had been won or lost.

This time it hardly mattered to him, for Nyunya had just done the unthinkable to everyone's favorite momma's boy: she had, even if it was indirectly, taken a jab at Syeira herself. His mother was all but a goddess in his eyes.

With a deep sigh, Taabu pushed his lithe frame from the ground, his sturdy legs rippling with growing muscles - though his posture was as rigid as his mother's had ever been in times of her utmost pride. He was trying his hardest to remain calm, to walk away from this little battle of the minds with his pride intact, but do that - his posture became filled with that trademark rigidity that was undoubtedly passed down to him from his mother. It was a sure sign that he was uncomfortable, but only if you knew how to read past the surface honor that it originally displayed.

"It's a shame, Nyunya, that you hold the title of princess while others below you most certainly know the manners of etiquette so much better than you do yourself," the frown on his maw was enough to display his dissapointment for - like his mother before him - Taabu sought out those with a manner of intelligence, only, Taabu would much rather find those with a degree of manners themselves and not just the intelligence to back it up. "I suppose that it saddens me somewhat that any princess, even a self proclaimed one, would behave in such a way."

With that he lowered his maw, eyes on the ground as he slowly turned, tail whipping behind him in his agitation - sometimes his demon, something undoubtedly spawned from his father's genes, got the best of him. "I hope, for your sake, you learn the ways of nobility sooner rather than later. No one likes a snob, and most certainly not one that resorts to the lower form of arguments. Personal jabs are a last resort for anyone," he said, beginning a calm stride away.

Poor Taabu. He doesn't like it when people insult his mummy.

Well, the pale little female didn't know him well - and didn't want to, frankly - so she missed the signs of his agitation. Not that she would really have cared if she had. He'd irritated her right from the beginning, asking bluntly and rudely if she was a rogue before he said anything else, and it would take earning it to get on her good side after that. She'd have no kind words for him until he had them for her. She'd only meet him halfway, if that, and only if he made the first move to help the situation.

But she laughed at what he said, finding it especially amusing - and downright ludicrous. "You're giving me a lecture on manners? That's a laugh." It dwindles into a chuckle as she opens her eyes again. "All right, I'll consider what you say, Taabu, if you take a lesson from me for your next meeting: next time, you should try starting with a hello and an introduction, before you start demanding a full status report from your acquaintance. In fact, the demands you'd best leave out altogether. They don't go over well on first meetings. Take it from me."

With a breathy little noise, she rolls over onto her back, shutting her eyes again. "But I do have manners," she says quietly after a moment. "I just didn't see the need to use them on someone as rude as you. But if it's really bothering you, and you're going to mope off like that, I'll share some: goodbye, Taabu, and have a good life." She settles her forepaws on her chest, one ear flicking to dislodge a flying irritant.

He smirked as he stopped, listening to her words with a little bit of amusement lingering behind the surface of his ruby eyes. He never thought that his original sentance was demanding, but then, these were different lands with different types of lions. He simply glanced at her over his shoulder, a brow quirked, "If that's what you call being demanding, I'd hate for you to ever leave these lands. There are far worse than me."

He simply flicked his tail then, beginning his slow, and prideful, walk away from the so-called princess. He stopped, though, a short ways away, thinking that leaving with an unkind word as the last impression would not be such a lovely way to remember her.

"Still, even if I am a demanding jerk, maybe you'll end up in the Kusini lands one day. The pride may be my family, but the land is beautiful regardless," he finished the words, then calmly began his walk away from that little princess again.

Maybe they'd see other again, eh?

She chose not to answer him, letting herself begin to relax as he continues walking away. True, he wasn't really demanding in what he had said, and she didn't truly think he had been - just rude. No matter what it had been, it still had irritated her, and that was enough to make her give him the cold shoulder.

But she probably would end up in the Kusini lands one day. She intended to go as far as she was physically able, to travel as far as she could and see as much as she could before she settled down again, before she came back. And who knows? Maybe she'd even decide to stay and live somewhere else.

She doesn't look at him again, just murmurs "goodbye" in a voice so quiet it likely never reached him. Then she gets back to sunning herself.

Maybe she would see this lion again. Maybe she wouldn't. But it's safe to say that, if she does, she'll not have been looking forward to such a meeting.
