I'm addicted to The Sims - I have all the expansion packs & about a gig of downloaded stuff. sweatdrop It's just one of those games that follows a simple concept, that can grow into something more complex - like Pac-Man, or any of the old school games.
But yes - I'm really looking forward to The Sims 2. Been keeping up w/ the official site, browsing all the screenshots, spending ages downloading the trailers - I curse you dial up! I really want the body shop, as I fiddle around w/ skins for the original name, but ouchies - over 200MBs. ;.;
However, I am quite broke. ;.; The total cost of the game here (Hawaii) would be about $60 ($55, plus taxes), so I'll probably just wait till it's down to about $30, which is about the most I'll ever spend on a game - I'm so cheap. xd Especially given I've been drooling over this game for well over a year (since it was announced), & I would quickly name it as my favorite series, & one that I spend the most time on.

I heard it comes out the 17th. Am I just weird? Did it come out already?
My friend's pre-ordering it, so I'm totally going to be jacking it off her. =DDDD

for those of you who have played the second one, what are the differences between the first and the second game? Any really big ones that would turn the table on someone deciding to get it?

Any really big ones that would turn the table on someone deciding to get it? I haven't played/bought it yet (but I did see the commericial. Next chance I get I'm going to the store. whee )...but just looking at the screenshots on the website, you can tell that it's way different from the first one. Better graphics, etc. The object of the game isn't that different, but there's a bunch of new stuff, and your Sims age and whatnot. 3nodding

Anybody know if the system specs have changed too much? My computer isn't too charming in terms of Processor power n' whatnot, so I'm hoping I'll actually be able to properly run this -- you know, at least not exceptionally well, just properly. e.e;

From what I've read about the game, the differences are:
Characters age. Characters have aspirations and phobias. You can edit your characters' faces and hairstyles. You can make your own neighborhood. I'm sure some other stuff I've forgotten.. XD;
The article I read mentions that Sims still have a problem with not going to the toilet when they ought too. Hehe. xp
I'd like to get Fable too, but I'd need an X-box. Muu. ;_;

TawakeruDain for those of you who have played the second one, what are the differences between the first and the second game? Any really big ones that would turn the table on someone deciding to get it? They make real food and have to go grocery shopping!! Like every level lets you make different things for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. And the cooking Sim will actually put the plates of food at the table. biggrin and they grow up and you can invite the headmaster and you have to kiss butt to get your kids in private school. And the kids play in the toilet.. like real lil monsters. It's cool. The only thing that would be better would be pets. And some of the neighborhoods actually have storylines. Go figure.

ramaena well i got the sims like two weeks ago and i was wondering if anyone else had the problem of it taking like 15 mins to save the game because that just seems like alot to me well, the first one after all the expansions had the problem of taking like 15 minutes to start up, even on a gig ram, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was taking that long, there is a lot of information it has to store on that file, so its bound to take a while...at least I think so ::shrugs::
