Tanaka growled low in pleasure as his talons torn into his borther's blue hide, reveling for a moment in the dark blood spilling on the ground beneath. Many thoughts crossed his mind at the sight of his brother's blood, but he had no time to pause now, he couldn't stay still even for an instant, or it would cost him dearly.
An ear splitting roar wrenched it's way free of white lion's jaws when Mrost's fangs met his tattered wing, but rather than release his grip, he tighted it, talons sinking further into the blue lion's hide. But despite his best efforts, he couldn't hold on, he would have to try something else if he were to gain the upper hand. His head reared back, jaws parted in what would have been a vicious bite, but it would never connect.
It was not the bite to his wing, or Mrost's kicks that caused the white lion to release his grip. But rather it was the voice that called out his name, the voice of the red lioness who had come to mean so much to him. No matter how much he hated his brother, his feelings for her were stronger and he would not allow the blue lion to harm her.
Kicking away from Mrost with one last strike of his talons, Tanaka whirled around, his paws landing with a heavy thud on the ground between Kiuma and Mrost. Shoulder shuddering under his weight, Tanaka snarled, looking more vicious than he had before if that was possible. He was ready to attack again, and if necessary do all he could to protect the red lioness.

Her traitorous heart skipped a beat as he lept free of the fight to return to her side, but the sight of bright red streaking his coat made her blood turn to ice. That god had hurt him... again! How dare he hurt her Tanaka!
Stepping up to the white lion's side, her bared her fangs in a viscous snarl and lowered her head, soft ears pinned against a blood-red skull. "Who are you? How dare you attack him?" She spat out her rage, eyes like burning embers. "What kind of a god are you, to attack one that's been crippled by claws such as yours? Disgusting piece of filth..." She took a threatening step forward from Tanaka's sheltering form. It was a matter for debate whether it was ment to cover him herself, or make ready to fly at the other with teeth and claws bared. Despite how both other lions towered over her lithe form, rage made her unafraid and bold.

Mrost also leapt back from where they had been fighting, seeing the freedom from teeth and claws as a drowning man would see a breath of fresh air. He stood bristling and snarling, his eyes mere slits, one of them framed in fresh, slick blood, even the black "white" of it not safe from the liquid. He was like a demon, similar to his brother in that respect, ignorant of the blood that seeped, the pain that coursed.
He watched Tanaka step into the space between him and the interrupting lioness almost protectively and in some way, understood. It was not worth it pursuing the fight further if now he had a cause to fight for.
Despite this thought he almost lunged towards the crimson female for her insubordination at addressing him in such a way. "I'm WAR mortal and I'd watch that harlot tongue of yours unless you want it torn out when your prince charming." he spat some blood which had run into his mouth into the dust "isn't around."
He snarled at Tanaka "You'd better keep a close eye on your b***h from now on." and with that, he decided he had best get out of there, for all the bravado he was putting on, he knew his powers were frail and he couldn't allow himself to die over a trivial fight in this dead place.
Leaping onto a nearby skull, he spread his wings and with a crackle of magic, swooped away into the mist before what he'd done could fully sink in.

Tanaka was taken aback by the temper and rage that flowed from the lioness, indeed she was a force to be reckoned with and he made a note to never bring that anger down on himself. But Kiuma was mortal, she was no match for the blue lion no matter how angry she was.
His fur bristled, tail lashing like a snake about to strike, Tanaka lept forward as Mrost did, again placing himself between Kiuma and the blue lion. Snarling, his body ready to charge again, his stance beyond threatening. If Mrost dared touch her...
The lion lept at his brother's heals as the blue lion took flight. He was well out of reach, but Tanaka wasn't about to let the comment go.
"Coward!! I'll kill you before I let you touch her!"
Landing hard, his injured shoulder nearly gave out and he staggered under his own weight, the look of hatred and anger linger in his green eye long after Mrost had vanished. A deep exhale and he turned, walking to Kiuma's side, he gently nudged her shoulder with his head as his steps cared him past her, a faint smile on his maw.
Another day, Mrost, this battle was far from over and they would meet again. But for now he just wanted away from this place, and he wanted to be with the red lioness at his side.

Kiuma seethed as she watched the god of War run from them, after flinging insults at her. Harlot? b***h? Oh, she would see that she lived up to her name with that one. She almost hoped he would find her alone, just so she could put some scars into the lovely blue fur of his. Maybe tear off those wings like she used to do with butterflies.
Then Tanaka's great head was brushing against her and her rage was replaced in a flash with heart-stopping fear for him. He lipped terribly, and there was blood everywhere. So she did the only thing she could do to ease the fear for him. She let it loose on him. "Idiot!" She screeched, slapping him hard upside the head with one much-smaller paw. "How could you scare me like that? You could have been killed or maimed! You'd have left me here, alone! Don't you ever do that to me again, do you hear me?" She smacked him a couple times more with her paws, rearing up on her hindlegs to give them more force. Tears made her eyes glitter strangely, and she barely registered that this was only the second time in her life that she had ever cried.

Tanaka flinched, he never flinched, his head ducked against Kiuma's blows. What was she hitting him for, he wasn't the one who had insulted her. His one paw held off the ground, the lion lept to the side, away from the falling blows.
"What's wrong with you? I..."
His voice fell off when he saw the look in her eye, and he understaood. Stepping toward her again, taking whatever blow she landed, he nudged his head against the crook of her neck looking up enough to lick her cheek. It was more than a kind gesture, more than caring, it was a gesture of love. Was that what he had felt toward her for all this time? Had he been too blind to see it himself?
"It's alright, I'll take more than my idiot brother to take me down. Come on, we should leave before the smell of blood attracts unwelcome guests."

When he stepped back to nuzzle against her neck, Kiuma wrapped her forelegs hard around his neck, holding him as closely as she was able. She just held him for a moment, biting at his ear as her purr rumbled harshly. Damn him for getting so close to her, then scaring her like that. Rubbing her face into his short mane to dry her cowardly tears, she fell back to all fours and nodded. "Yes, we should go. This place is supposed to be crawling with hyenas."
She made no more mention of the fight as she padded back the way she'd come, ready to get the hell out of here.
