DarkHalcyon Oh, and Phoenix, no one likes Macs because they suck. All they have going for them is the fact that they're very stable, pretty easy to use, and they have super flashy super shiny interfaces. But last time I checked you either can't upgrade, or upgrading is expensive because you can only use mac hardware. I wouldn't consider very stable and easy to use sucking.. Nor would I consider a graphically pleasing user interface a point of suck either, although I will say that not everyone likes the way OS X looks, just like not everyone likes the way Windows looks. I upgraded my iBook a lot since I got it. I put in an internal wireless card and I almost doubled the RAM. I'm getting a Macbook soon, and those have a user upgradable hard drive and RAM.. I'll probably double the RAM to 2 gigs after Leopard comes out. The Mac Mini isn't officially user-upgradable, but if you know how to get it open, you can change some of the components. The G5 towers are almost as upgradable as any tower desktop. It's just the iMacs that are relatively stuck the way they are, because of the design. They're built to put a whole computer into a small desktop footprint for style, power, and ease of use in a small package. Some people _have_ modded iMacs, though - Google it.

Well, at least linux's WINE surpasses the false attempts of MAC to mix WinOS into the system xd . Linux rules ^^ (I love their pinguin mascot... way better than the windows flag xd ).

nathan_ngl But it's emulated, isn't it? Emulation, especially that of an OS, really pisses me off sweatdrop Parallels is in-window OS emulation, running one OS in another. I'd assume it's like Virtual PC, but I never used that.. Parallels does not impress me, and frankly, I hope it is NOT the only solution they decide to continue supporting. I will be very upset, as will many people who prefer a true multi-OS setup. Apple's solution is the beta software Boot Camp, which allows you to partition the hard drive and install and boot into Windows normally, after burning you a CD of drivers. Essentially, it's a disk partition tool that formats part of your disk to a file format recognizable by Windows. Having used it, I'd like to know where anyone heard it was bad. It was easy to set up, and runs XP Pro on my friend's iMac faster than my Dell at my parents' house. xd Of course, that's just with comparable benchmarks. Oh, and Boot Camp was also Apple's response to a bunch of geeks who, within a couple months of the Intel Macs' release, had strewn across the internet a plethora of hacks to install Windows on your Mac - They realized, wow, WTF, people _want_ that?! xd So instead of letting people hack the crap out of their hardware, they took the hacks, ran with them, and put out this beta software to let people do it the legit and easy way. (I'm a card-carrying member of the Macintosh Guild. >.> And I also hang out with these guys from this tiny yeshiva on Avenue J who all carry Powerbooks and live in their rabbi's apartment sometimes. xd )

xd Everybody is entitled to their own opinions, though, and I haven't tried out Linux to be a fair judge. 3nodding I can say, Windows is lousy, though. xd We've got 2, and they are really stupid, crashy, and slow.
