Nara reached out, casually pressing against the carving. With barely a whisper it slid back a foot before sliding to the side. "Careful," Nara cautiouned. "It's pretty dark in there. We don't have the funds to run electricity for an unknown part of the liberary. This is where we do most of our research and keep things that are..well.. not wise for the public to know about."
Boldly Nara stepped into the darkened opening giving Ala's hand a gentle squeeze of encouragement. "Come on, I'll show you the rooms. We'll give classes for Reign when she gets older. Stuff like History that well..isn't widly known."

Alaqua toddled along behind Nara, stepping closer to the relic in the darkened area.
Niki followed along after the other two, with Reign clinging tightly to her. Another kid with special classes to attend? Oh well.
Ala looked up at Nara. "Does Reign get a dragon, too?"
Niki blinked and prayed that the answer to that question was a no. She did not need two dragons in the house!

As they moved through the dark hallway, Nara listened quietly.
"Does Reign get a dragon too?" Nara nearly stumbled after that question. So it was a little unexpected and the relic blanched, thinking of a dragon roaming these corridors. Please of please say no one had ever had the bright idea to try and seal a dragon in a scroll.
"Ah. No. No she won't be getting a dragon." Perhaps something else the young woman thought to herself, but definately no dragon. "The scrolls have a very interesting history behind them. Learning that is pretty important. Are you going to be getting a dragon?" Nara continued out loud, considering it for the first time.
Furry, getting a dragon, perhaps Nara should pay more attention to the outside world, shy of her scrolls.

Alaqua grinned as Nara said that Reign wouldn't be getting a dragon. "Yup! I'm getting a dragon. I get to go see it soon. Mommy said so. She said its only an egg right now, but I still get to see it. Maybe I'll even get to hold it."
Good. So Reign wouldn't have a dragon. At least the chimp child didn't seem too upset over that. But, then again, Reign probably didn't know what a dragon was. That'd probably change soon, because Ala was continuing to pester Niki about her dragon. They'd probably go look for some books on them. Though hopefully she'll get the chance to find out what kind of dragon Ala would be getting first...
"An interesting history?" Niki's curiousity was aroused.

"Ah." was probably the only thing Nara could say in response to the girl's outburst of enthusiasim. Fortunately they reached an opening in the hallway. With quick, sure movements born of long practice, the relic grabbed a stricker and candle. Lighting the candle she smiled at them all.
It was a large circular room, that actually descended several stories below them. The group stood on a small balconly running the circumphrence of the room. At each of the cardnial points a doorway stood, most of them closed off with a heavy wooden door. Rows and rows of books and records filled the interior room. "This," Nara announced with pride in her voice. "is our records room. From the start, as many as could be found."

Ala's long talk halted with a gasp as Nara lit a candle. "Ooooh..." The girl muttered.
Reign peered about, her thumb stuck in her mouth.
Niki tried not to get too close to the edge, breathing slowly. She wasn't terribly fond of heights. Slowly, she stepped to the banister, gripping it more tightly than was necessary. "Records? What kind of records?" She managed to ask Nara, trying to get her mind off of how much it would hurt if she fell over the edge.

"All kinds," Nara said quietly. "Mostly on the scrolls and histories that have been...not written by the victors. And those of the unseen and unhuman persuasion. I'm not sure how most of these got here, or who wrote them. But they are real.." The relic grinned. "I'll show you where I stay so you can find me if needed."
Nara made her way around the rotunda and down one of the doorways. More doorways drifted off of the hallway but all were quite solidly locked against intruders. Finally they came to a door at the end of the hall. A small plaque was labled "Nara...Unknown" on the door. "This is my room, " the yo ung woman made no move to unlock it. "You've met my partner. The only other person is Dr. Smith. He's a Historian and knows a lot about the history of the scrolls." She smiled at the two girls. "Any questions?"

Ala shook her head in response to Nara's question.
Reign yawned, which reminded Niki on how late it was. "No questions from me," the woman said. "But I suppose we'd best be going. It's past bedtime for the girls..."

"Of course, of course." Nara said. Quickly she showed them out, the back way where one Professor Aziza would no longer be ..ranting about patrons after hours.
