Ok, I filled in profiles for Chandra and Laertes ( I've yet to settle on a Daemon name ). I also added the tentative list of things you'll be searching for.

I think that's all I can/need to do until I talk to Halo again.

OK, from this post out every post in here needs to be an RP post. Any OOC information/comment/questions/suggestions need to be posted in the OOC thread. I will make said OOC thread in a second.

I don't think we need a post order per se, but please make sure that everyone in the area gets to do something before your character goes off and does something else - otherwise I will institute a post order and no one wants that.

Now play nice with eachother peeps. The House won't be and working together may be the only way you get out alive.

Standing on the porch of an house that had clearly seen better days, Chandra eyed the young boy standing at her side with distaste. Even in the shade cast by the little roof covering the porch she had her hood pulled up so it cast her pale features into shadow. Her hair, like a spill of ink, stuck out about an inch from the confines of the hood and mixed with her feather ruff. The one pale hand which was not concealed within her dark cloak clutched a small bundle of paper. Looking closely one might see that it had a hand copied list gracing a mostly blank page.

The boy standing at Chandra's side looked to be about 12 years of age, but it was possible he was older than that. Clad in a bland uniform of jeans and a small white button down shirt, he had short straight dark brown hair that feathered a bit around his ears and came down almost over his eyes in the front. His brown eyes, large and clear, were fixed greedily on the book Chandra had on a chain over her shoulder. She had refused to let him touch it earlier and he had yet to get it away from her. At his feet, curled slightly around on ankle, was what looked like a horribly scribbled mess. It was as if some artist's mistake had stepped out of their sketchbook and into the world. It seemed to shift and change as it moved, different angles revealing ears, legs, and eyes of varied shapes and sizes. One got the impression that whatever lurked beneath the mess of charcoal was not very pleasant to look at.

Rustling the papers in her hand impatiently, Chandra spoke curtly to the boy at her side.

"Laertes, the other children do not yet appear to be present."

Laertes shrugged and looked out past the overgrown lawn of the House out to the road.

"They'll be here."

Whirling sat and did something that made her look like a dog scratching its ear with a hind leg, except of course she didn't obviously possess either body part.

Should we go look for them, Master?

Maya was careful not to rip her grey wool stockings as she threw one leg, and then the other--over the fence. As she landed on the other side, she straightened her thigh-length skirt, and pushed random strands of flying red hair out of her face, trying to tuck it behind her ears, but in vain. Her hair seemed to have gotten a bit crazier as she grew, and now, it seemed to like the spikey, high pigtails that Maya had grown used to wearing. It was just the strands in her face that bothered her, constantly tickling her eyelashes.

The house was just up ahead, and she'd walked quite a way to get there, a few sporadic drops of perspiration around her hairline showing her efforts. Mortality was wrapped around her wrist as he usually was, pleased to be outside. Maya had been spending too much time inside studying, he thought. She never got enough exercise, even though it seemed she could never be -out- of shape. No matter what she did with herself, she always seemed quite healthy. Maya preferred to sit inside and read and research on the Internet, and it bored Mortality after a while. He slept a lot to quelch his boredom.

But today, something exciting was happening. Maya and some other Forgotten were going on a hunt of sorts...A scavenger hunt.

Though Maya was a bit wary--she knew that the house had a tendency to do strange and unusual things--she thought it would be fun. She could use her mind even while having a good time. She was definitely in approval of the hunt.

As the pair neared the house, Mortality spoke up. Are you ready Maya? This could be fun...but beware of the house. You never know what you might find.

She nodded down to him, smiling. "We'll be just fine friend. I promise. Nothing can hurt us and you know it."

Mortality gave her arm a reassuring squeeze, and Maya waved as she saw the Forgotten and his daemon, and another girl, cloaked in shadow, standing on the front porch. "Hello," she greeted them simply. "Am I the first one to arrive?"

Chandra looked over the newly arrived girl, but didn't answer. These were allies of a sort of Laertes. She was willing to "chaperone" this little get together, but she found it best not to speak to children unless necessary.

Laertes gave Maya a cynical smile as he took a step forward and gave a simple wave.

"You are," he said, wishing, not for the first time, that he had hair the color of hers. "I don't see you often, Maya. Where have you been hiding yourself?"

Now behind his legs, Whirling sent a little thought out to Mortality.

Greetings Golden One! The capitalization of the title Whirling had given Mortality was obvious in tone of her mind-voice.

Through the door of the house lumbered an extraordinarily large white bear. She looked like a polar bear except for the slow waving length of tail behind her. Shaking her head, she settled to the side of the porch, giving way to companion. He was very tall, pale and handsome but his skin lacked all color. In fact the only color he did have was in the pale flamey blue of his eyes. They stood out strikingly. He had on an impeccable black suit with a crisp white shirt, white tie and black waistcoat. He also wore white gloves and carried a silver cane with no colored accents. His black hair was cropped in a short business like manner but hidden underneath a stylish black tophat.

Otium turned his flaming eyes to Chandra and nodded. "Things inside are as needed. But Alejandro is preferring not to come out." The house didn't need much preparation, that is it wouldn't allow it, but Otium had gone through and done his best at communing with anything inside that would meet their purpose.

His brother Alejandro, on the other hand, would not be meeting them outside. He was shy and would just meet them as they gathered indoors.

Otium didn't say much to the girl who arrived. He just watched her silently. He seemed slightly aloof but his daemon watched her with a very sharp gaze.. like a watchdog.

Chandra nodded to Otium, pleased. "It is bright out today," she said mildly. "I am not out and awake by choice."

Feeling a bit put off by the tall girl in the cloak, Maya turned instead to Laertes, whom she had met only a few times. "Oh, you know, the same old places...But mostly, the library," she said, giving him a slight wink as she focused on his large brown eyes. "And what have you been up to?" she queried. So much for making small talk. She was horrible at it.

Hello. Mortality said simply, loosening himself from Maya's wrist to snake down her arm and body until he reached the floor. He squirmed over to Whirling, seemingly inspecting her. My, you have an interesting form! What exactly are you?

Then, Maya heard the sound of heavy footsteps, and she looked up at the door to see a large white polar bear amble out and park herself on one end of the porch. Maya was amazed to see the Daemon move so nimbly for her large size, and she would have examined the bear further if someone else hadn't caught her eye.

He was immaculately dressed in a black suit and shite shirt and holding a cane, of all things. "My my, look who came dressed for the occasion!" Maya exclaimed, giving him an up and down look. "You look quite stylish this evening Otium." Her voice was friendly and warm.

Ethan and Hurricane arrived at the ancient house by their normal means. Ethan running with his eastern dragon daemon flying behind him. They had discussed the invitation for a long while, mostly trying to guess how the house would mess with the plan. Neither of them had ever been scared of the house. Dealing with fairies so much made a house with a mind of it's own seem almost normal. They usually veiwed going to the house as an adventure. A place that provided a fairy tale type adventure on a whim.

Both have grass stains and some dirt here and there. Seeing Otium, Ethan calls out, "Don't worry. We remeber to keep our stains to ourselves." He chuckles some as they slow down and joins the group. He hoped their were no hard feelings about the mistake. He'd even conviced his guardian to show up and remove the stains.

"If you'd prefer to head inside, Chandra, I am sur myself and Laertes could handle this much." He smiled slightly, almost as much affection as he gave to anyone outside of his own family.

"You can never be too overdressed, Maya. Feel free to head inside." He waved with a gloved hand towards the door. It was ajar but inside was nothing but blackness. "Instructions will be given inside."

Immaculate watched each child, nose twitching at the unique scents of them all. She remained still though. She was like a monument on the porch compared to everyone else.

Otium just smirked lightly to Ethan. He'd become used to his companions an the other children making jokes on behalf of his choice of clothing. He found no humor in it though.

With a nod, Chandra turned and slipped into the darkness of the House. She had no doubt that Otium could handle this situation, although she had trouble putting her finger on exactly why she thought so.

Laertes eyed Otium's cane with obvious admiration and then turned to look out over the lawn where it seemed the last of the Forgotten was arriving. He put up a hand and waved for the white haired kid to come and join them on the porch. He was getting impatient to be inside and hunting for "treasure" and he shuffled idly from one foot to the other.

Whirling did something that looked like she was ducking her head in response to Mortality's question. It is unclear, she admitted. Perhaps I am a little bit of everything. She didn't bother to try and speak to Immaculate. The large white daemon intimidated her an while he would never admit it, she knew Laertes was intimidated by Otium.

She did however send out greetings to both of the other newly arrived daemons, jellyfish and dragon. Greetings!

Maya nodded to Otium, giving him a half-smile. "Well, I suppose in your case, that's correct. The suit is very nice though," she added, giving him compliments on it. "You look very put-together."

As Intus walked up to the house, Maya greeted him and his daemon with a wave. She hadn't met them before, but they looked like they might be interesting. The boy was barefoot and held an umbrella, and he had a jellyfish daemon that Maya wanted to poke. But she resisted, and instead, greeted the boy "Hello. I'm Maya. What's your name?"

She heard another voice in the distance, and she turned around to see a pale-haired boy and his dragon daemon approach the house as well. He was slightly dirty, but Maya didn't mind. At least he seemed to be enjoying himself already.

Before she could greet the newcomer, she was ushered inside the house, and Mortality managed to get a few words in to Whirling before following Maya inside. Unclear? Well, I'd say you're quite fascinating! I love your moving parts, he added, complimenting the daemon and her shape-changing abilities. As he squirmed inside to retrieve Maya, he gave Immaculate a simple greeting. Good evening.
PostPosted: Wed Jun 14, 2006 10:15 am

Immaculate returned the greeting with nothing but a nod. She had gotten almost as silent as Otium as she'd aged. The monochrome man stood still as the children filtered in and waitied for the straggler in Intus. "Inside, young one. We're going to begin soon."

Inside the entryway the house was rather dark. There were candles set up for light at random intervals. That was all the doing of those who were running this search. Otium and Chandra had done most of the arranging and 'setting up'. There was a mood to this. The children best be able to handle it.

At the far end of the entry hall a set of brilliant lavendar eyes glowed out of the darkness and gave way to Alejandro, looking not over 16 but giving off something that said he was much older. He smiled gently at Chandra. Unlike Otium, he was less severe. He was quiet but mostly kind.... Just a little weird. His skin was as white as a corpse and held an ethereal glow in the candlelight. Alex fluffed his hair as he usually did and rubbed the back of his neck. "Everyone here?" he had a gentle voice.

Ethan and Hurricane followed the others into the house. The candles, dim light and Alejandro's appearence seemed to make a feeling of gloom and doom. Having lived around dragons, fairies and mages all their lives, this spelled adventure to Ethan. To Hurricane it meant possible trouble. They'd been together long enough for Hurricane to know not to tell Ethan, he knew. She'd wait and watch. If she had something helpful to say, she'd say it.

Schooling his features, Ethan tried not to show his anticipation, with Hurr coiled up behind him. Besides a couple of incidents, he rarely had adventures with the other feedee. Then you add in the house and this promised to be an interesting day. Then there was the bonus of helping someone. after all that was why they had paid attention to the invitation in the first place.
