Revolutionary01 Metal Discharge Black_Ronin Lupin The Great I know what it means. It means someone from a lower income section of a city (they're usually black.) who has basically has an ignorant and often times racist view of other ethnic backgrounds in or outside the city. Ways to pick out a "ghetto person": Nappy hair (all of the time that you see them.), Speaking loudly in public, Uses Public transportation throughout most of their lives, Eats fastfood through most of the day, Usually wears "ghetto clothing" (Dickies, Apple Bottoms, ect...), Considers everything new to their enviroment "white" (Rock music, organic food, interest in reading and proper education.), And finally someone who usually has alot of children and no father to help out. P.S. A majority of this true, but don't make assumptions with your own investigation. Wow....im trying really hard not to laugh at that....so true... Yeah I agree it is pretty true, Just ignorant, uneducated(or acting so),inconsiderate degenerate. That is an unfair generalization and that not what ghetto even means. Ghetto means a part of town where minorities are held. It is all a mind game that the goverment is playing. A ghetto is not where people are "held" no one is forcing you to live there. And what I said above is indeed a generalization, but if you honestly look at it it's a fairly accurate one for the most part. And only the weak minded minorities are being "held" there out stupidity or just a ******-minded mentality of entitlement (The idea that all blacks are entitled to government reparations and/or benefits.) which only continues the stereotype from others here and in other parts of the world tat we just sit on our asses and b***h and complain for anything. When jews who fled europe in during WW2 came here they didn't have the NAACP or the BPP to back them up when someone called them an eeb. I've never heard the italians complained when someone called them a wop or greaser. And even in the civil rights era when blacks were living in s**t and taking it from whites they didn't try to sue anyone they just went about their business trying to better themselves. So all this bullshit about the governement is trying to keeps blacks in the ghetto is really only your mind game you want to play with yourself. My dad lived in the ghetto for the first 20 years of his life, but by the early 80's he attended Howard University and became a lawyer and now houses his family in a moderately sized mansion outside Atlanta. And mind you my dad was college during the Reagan Administration the so called "Devil President".

i have two meanings to it: 1. very run down, poor side of a living enviroment 2. is when a person those somethin not most ppl would do like:
i think it was last wedsday i went to church with my sisters for a spritual encounter, and i brought them some pickles in a bag. i had two pickles on each side of my jacket pocket(one my sisters and one mines) i kept them in their for the whole thing and my sister said we was ghetto for bringin pickles to church.
so thats basically my definition of it, theres a diffrence of bein country and ghetto. lol

Well of course they had to live there or they would be shot. Actually most of them got shot anyway True, but s**t happens. Is that your new catch phrase? rofl To the folks arguing about ghettos: The dictionary definition of a "ghetto" is a place in a town where minorities are held or forced to live, or something to that tune. But the title asks, "What IS 'ghetto.'" This implies that they are wanting someone to put into words the idea of a person being or acting in a "ghetto" fashion. You can debate back and forth forever on what the dictionary says and what unfortunately happened to some Jewish people during WW2. But, I think most of you realize that just because someone asks for a definition, you shouldn't automatically run to Merriam-Webster. biggrin If I asked you to define a person who acts "cool," would you honestly argue about body temperature?? xd It's a figure of speech, just like saying someone "acts ghetto." Lupin kind of seems to be on the right track, but you don't have to be low-income to act ghetto, and who the hell told you Dickies was an urban brand of clothing?? That's like saying Timberland boots are ghetto. xd And if ghetto-acting people started to rock Dockers, you'd be calling that an urban brand too?? lol And some of the rest of the crap you mentioned is just silly. rofl If you want to know why I think so, just ask and I'll spell it out for you. But I digress. Look at some rappers. They are hardly low-income, but it is their habits or actions that make the rest of us call them ghetto--the loud talking for no good reason, buying expensive material things without having the necessities, etc. You can also say that ghetto means being low-class or behaving like one has had a poor upbringing, not because one doesn't know better, but on purpose.

No one may be standing at the entrance with a rifle, barking out threats, hun. You call these people who stay in the "ghettos" weak-minded, stupid and "******-minded." Are they really? Are they stupid, weak and "******-minded" for choosing to stay where they and their families have a roof over their heads rather than being homeless?? For staying where they can afford not only that "roof," but also, food and clothes?? If you are poor and move into low-income housing, it CAN be like a "trap." Because low-income housing developments base your RENT on your INCOME. The higher your income, the higher your rent. The way it's supposed to work is that once you make more money, you can "afford" that higher rent and move to a place with normal prices. But, as we all "should" know--the more money you make, the more money you need to live on. So, if you know you can't afford higher rent, why get a better job? Or for some, any job at all? ( rolleyes ) There you have it: "forced" to stay in low-income housing due to economic restraints. BUT...some people do get out. They move on. They rise up. They get a computer and an account with Gaia online just so they can tell the world about their experiences.[/cornyspeech]
