Katrina was surprised by the sudden termination of their connection and searched mental for it to try and figure out what happened. There was still much about these peculiar creatures she could not fathom, and it didn't help that her liason into the dragon world was the eccentric Cedric. Still, it was better than noting. Resigning herslef to having a silent flight, the stoic Katrina sat as if she were riding a horse to help eliminate resistence and keep her on the dragon's back.

They stopped to circle around a clearing on the other side of the mountains in the middle of rock and woods. Each circle was a descent lower and a step closer to landing. It was a smooth landing for Katrina because Rh'Delle had to pinpoint a clear space.

A lot of the clearing was taken up by younger dragons, and they probably didn't like being landed on. They romped out of her way a little bit, but in terms of running room the clearing was almost full. Rh'Delle even snapped at a young one who ended up very close to her when they were coming to their stop. She arched her wings to show off, being one of the oldest there, and let out a deafening shriek for the whole clearing to hear.

Katrina was impressed by the number of dragons that were in the real world, and at how young they were.
"Rh'delle" Katrina said outloud "Why are all these young dragon's here? Cedric said that it was dangerous for bonded with young dragons to make the crossing at all, let alone for a small amount of time. Isnt this dangerous for them?"

Katrina slid of the dragons back, but remained with one hand on the dragon's side, looking up at the large head that loomed above her.

(PS. if it turns out we are the only two playing any more, we can still keep ours as an RP between ourselves if you like)

The dragon snorted at her as she spoke in a different kind of mindspeak, one like a broadcast instead of a private two-way street.

I have called Cedric to me. Where is he? Apparently when this dragon called someone, she expected an immediate appearance.

She eyed Katrina with a toothy grin. More privately she added, Your question has a long answer. I'm hungry. On their way they had passed over herds of sheep and goats that had been indistinct because of their speed. Now the sheep could be heard bleating in the distance in between the noise of the other dragons, which had gone still.

Dh'relle's affects on the other creatures was one of unconscious intimidation. She happened to be one of the few adults present and the younger ones cowed their play and other activities for her.

Katrina's prescence was not without its own affects. One of the younger dragons approached her in a crouched position, defering to the adult beside her while yet acting on its curiosity. Unlike the one in the dragon world, this one sniffed but did not bite at her clothing or body parts. But there was something much more amazing than that. Her dragon was here in her world, and would know or hope that Katrina had been brought here by the other dragon-- just as she had been very recently. Cedric and others there were still recovering from bringing her over, which is why they did not respond to the call quickly, being asleep undeground.

(it's up to you if you want dragons to require recovery after a transition to this world. I hadn't really thought about it! (stupid) But it might let her dragon be here and explain why she hadn't been contacted right away.)

(Well we should actively recruit. Look for people within the guild that may be good and constant additions, maybe add such people straight to the guild.)

Katrina smiled at the curious creature, holding out her hand for it to sniff. She didnt mind the hot breath or rubbery cartalidge of the nose brushing her outstreched fingers. Nor did she fear the dragon-child taking a n** with the over-powering eldest dragon watching over her. With a smile and the countence of a very pleased person, Katrina took in the field of dragons at play. All sizes, sorts and colours of dragons romped and frolicked in the grassy expanse. It was a wonderful sight, one that was soon interupted by a pleasent surprise.

Wonder came to Katrina, her heart beat quickened and her stomach fluttered. She had only glimpsed Drxisisliege though Drex's own interpretation of herself, but had given up hope of actually meeting the kind presence in her mind. But there at the edge of the dragon's new playground, a familiar shape lay dozing, with one eye on the younger ones. Drxisisliege was enjoying the warm sun and soft grass with feelings of contentment rolling through the bond.

Drxisisliege! Is that you? You are really here? Katrina spoke through the bond. The dragon in question lifted its head, its facial expression seemed to be that of a smile.

Yes, Katrina, its me. I'd come to greet you, but passing through the barrier without you was very tiring and I just found the most comfortable spot in the sun!

Katrina began walking towards her dragon, but unable to contain her joy, she broke into a trot, the curious youngling following easily behind her. Making her way past the large dragon-children with comfort, Katrina made it to her dragon and threw her hands as far around the trunk-like neck as she could.

Oh, Drex! I never thought I would get to see you! How did you ever come to be here without me?

Drex nuzzled Katrina gently before replying.
I believe that is a question Rh'delle and the others would like to answer for you. Speaking of which, I don't think she will enjoy your running off very much. But I am glad to see you here and so excepting of this. I was scared you would be unreceptive to our presence.

Katrina sensed that there was something else Drxisisliege was not telling her, perhaps part of the reason she wanted Rh'delle to answer the questions. That said, Drex was genuine in her statments and her happiness at seeing her bonded human.

(this was the recruiting thread I had going for a while. We could post a new one of course but that one garnered no interest at all >.> Maybe I am not good at summarizing things? I lost my main co-conspirator in politics early on and wasn't quite sure what I could do with the structure of the supposed rebellion after that partially because of the small number of people... In other words I had one idea for it and after that fell through I didn't have another? sweatdrop )

Rh'delle was meandering over after her. At the same time a hole in the ground revealed itself and from there emerged Cedric, whom she would recognize despite his tired demeanor. Rh'delle reached her first, of course, and held her head up to watch Cedric approach. She looked like a living flare to show him the way through the cavorting younglings who had resumed their play.

"Ah!" he called from an appreciable distance. "A new arrival!" It was clear that he hadn't recognized her yet.

Rh'delle snorted at Drxis and the two appeared to communitcate briefly. Rh'delle would be complaining that she wanted to be off eating a sheep, not explaining things to this human she didn't know, when Cedric could explain it instead. Yet she stayed and waited to see if she was needed.

(Maybe Ill take a look at that when I got more time.)
"Not as new as you might wish, Cedric." Katrina said amused, knowing he would at least recognize her demeanour, if not her voice.

"Quite the compound of your own you have here. I will have questions of course. But I never read anywhere that dragons can cross the barrier without bonding! I never even imagined. You'll have to tell me how you've done it." Katrina smiled at the man, at her father she mentally corrected herself. Although she didn't admit to such, she had already started calling him that in her head. After all, it matter only who her mother was, right?

(lol that's fine)

Because she was smiling, he took no insult at her words.

Although he looked tired, he had ample energy for rushing towards her. "Oh we used the bond alright," he told her in excitement. His idea had all been theory until he'd brought the first dragon over with his wife's help. "I'm still paying for the effort, too! I can show you as soon as I feel better."

Having addressed her last question first, Cedric back-tracked to her compound analogy. "The adults keep them here," he explained with a gesture towards the young dragons between them. "I confess I'm very glad they do, because it means that all my children come here when they switch!"

When he reached her he attempted to embrace her. In his mind he was welcoming the lost home, and the lost was his kin no matter what their mind set towards him and the things that he loved.

(I think the main problem is your way to concise. ts not enticing enough for someone to start thinking of how perfectly a character can fit in...perhaps spicing it up a little?)

Katrina didn't stop him, but it was more because she had been conditioned to expect a man to stay a respectable distance. She returned his embraced akwardly with one hand. Hugging was not common among her family at the Estate, but apparently it was something Cedric enjoyed.

When it was over, Katrina re-asserted her composure.
"It is clever of you to do that. Though I would have felt more comfortable if one of you had let me know you where doing this with Drxisisliege." The scolding seemed directed at Drex, whom Katrina turned to give a mock glare of disapprovment. "However, since I doubt you'd put either of us at risk, Cedric, I guess there was no need. Drex is a big girl who can make her own dicisions. But I would enjoy you demonstrating this for me. It may prove interesting to study further." Katrina's interest was plain. Her eyes danced with the prospect of learning the nature of a whole new spieces of creature. The wonders of nature had always fascinated her, she could hardly resist this sudden prospect of sharing the experiences with others. However, it may have to wait.

"Of course, you probably have something else in mind. There must be a reason you had a dragon come get me from the compound in broad daylight. You could have just asked me to come, you know? I had trouble with one of the male slaves accidentally switching while he was still in his room not too long ago and now this?" Katrina shook her head. "You know, mother won't be easy to fool with any old excuse. I don't know how I am going to handle this..."

(I thought something longer would scare people off O_O I could work on it and add more information about what is happening right now, I guess >.<)

As he was listening to her eagerness, Cedric smiled and gave faint nods. He wanted to show her too, regardless of the fact that he thought she was still too young and inexperienced to pull the feat off herself. As for the something else he had in mind, Cedric had only a faint idea of what she was talking about.

"Why go back?" Cedric demanded abruptly. Then he turned to Drxis with the same tone: "Did you ask someone to go get Katrina for you? I thought you were going to wait and do it yourself!"

He turned back to Katrina in the same breath. "Thank goodness! I thought that you had switched when I heard you were here, but then I saw Drxis! Aren't you still too young to be switching like that? One of the dragons snatched you out of Feretris? That's wonderful! You can stay here."

Drxisisliege shook her head, she was unaware that Rh'delle had even been near Eldic. Katrina interjected with her response to Cedric's suggestion.
"Stay here? I dont have anything expect the clothes on my back and you expect me to just live the comfort of civilization to frolick in the mountains?" Katrina shook her head. She really thought Cedric would have been different, but at the basic level men were all the same, hot headeed and irrational.

"The sudden appearance of the dragon which the whole compound saw, probably sent them into panic. Now I am certain you intend to bring all your children, at least the male ones, into the mountains with you. Don't you think someone at the compound is going to add two and two together? Most of your children are at Eldic Estate, so it won't be to hard to sum up both incidents as being linked together." Katrina new that the first reaction would be to defend themselves from this menace kidnapping Feteras livestock. That would endanger the lives of the dragons who went to get the bonded. Beyond that, the woman of Feteras would immidiately set to work trying to find away to bend the dragons to thier will...for the good of Feteras, of course.

Cedric rested his hands on her shoulders, furrowing his brow like an older woman might to a younger child. "I brought these dragons here to do as they please, to be united with their other halves if they wanted. I did not bring them here to form an army or ask them to do this or that."

He looked to the sky a moment before looking back at her with a tart smirk. "And since me and my half don't feel like taking you back home, you're going to have to ask someone else." He let go and started to back away.

While his motives certainly included pleasing his draconic kin, only a fool or a prejudice woman would believe that he had not considered the possible ramifications before expending such great energy.

"If you need food or water, you saw where I came up from. I'm going to rest."

"Not every human on the planet thinks like you, Cedric? Even you said that the bonded have to be a certain age before they are ready. You made a rash decision and the whole world must face the consequences." Katrina looked at Drex and then to Cedric
"You and I can trust the dragons. We can understand them. But what if the rest of the world isnt ready?" Katrina asked pointedly.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 19, 2006 8:36 am

Cedric turned back around, but continued walking backwards. "Ready?" he laughed boisterously. "Nobody is ever ready for what life hands them! This is the place they truly belong, and I'm glad to help them get here! Remember that I have two heads in one, just like you. We both considered the matter carefully enough, and we decided to act on principle and damn the consequences. If every one was always trying to count the consequences, we'd all be sitting around day dreaming instead of raising young ones and perpetuating countries. Now are you going to join me downstairs or not?"

Katrina looked at Drex, who mentally assured her that Katrina could leave anytime she wanted with Drxisisliege. After that Katrina proceeded confidentally behind Cedric.
"Havent had much time with the text, but its always a pleasure talking dragons with you." Katrina entered the cave. She always had felt comfortable in the wild, having scaled the foothills, caves, forest and other untamed places around the compound. This was no different. She smiled to herself as she entered the embrace of nature.
"You found yourself a niceplace for dragon's to live."
