"Because he and I are the same," Ka murmured dangerously, his cold eyes now falling upon Linneas, no expression readable on his face.
"I see. ...no, it's... a bit comforting, though. Knowing that there's at least someone who's lower than I am." Loki's fingers brushed over the lantern almost possessively, before tilting his head at the girl. "I'm rather curious... what can you do? What're your abilities?"

((sorry for my late reply @_@ room got flooded))
The hair on the back of Linneas' neck stood on end as the teen readied himself to flee at a moment's notice. "In other words I can't trust you either."
'Obviously, you can't.' Lynn snorted from the darkness of Linneas' mind.
"I can bake stuff better than anyone in the house." Paestri declared proudly. "If you want, the next time I come over I can bring you something. Eventually I want to try baking special things, not the sort of stuff you find in books or shops." She adds with an odd twinkle in her eye. It was the sort that either caught someone off guard, or the sort that would put one on guard.
"Don't talk about that in front of strangers! Especially not one who owns a freak lizard who'd probably burn this house down!" Malady screeched in horror. If it was possible for it to turn anymore ashen, it would have.

(( I SAWWWW. T^T I'm so glad you're okay!! ))
"That's why we're the same... no one trusts us, no matter what we do." The man seemed calmer now, and his expression cold, but his eyes held a bit of warmth to them. "Tea?" He held out the cup.
"Baking... special things?" Loki was curious now, tilting his head and looking oddly inspired. "Do tell..." He blinked at Malady, now addressing her. "I could bring Lue back to play with you, if you'd like." A cheshire grin flitted across his lips.

Linneas accepted the offered beverage but made no motion to drink it. He fixed his golden eyes on Ka, "And when shall Miss Kanth be available again?"
Being subtle was obviously not one of Linneas' attributes.
"You'll ******** kill Madam this time!!" Malady screams, trying to move backwards to hide inside Paetsri's body. "Why are we still here!? You wanted to talk to him, you have, and now we GO!" it hisses.
"Silly Malady, we're not done talking yet." Paestri giggles as if the Intangible had just made a joke. She turns her attention to Loki, "Yes, special things, I don't know how to explain it really. They're supposed to turn out like the stuff in the books, but they're not really the stuff from the books."

"Whenever I deem it appropriate. That's all you need to know, at the moment." Ka paused, grimacing. "If you're not going to drink that tea, I am. It's a nuisance to waste such good tea." An eyebrow raised as Ka leaned against the counter, crossing his arms.
"Interesting. Perhaps... you could make something for me?" He tilted his head, a mere hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

Linneas pushed the cup back towards Ka, instinctively careful not to spill anything. "Wait, so she's not here because you don't want her to be?" he cocks his head to the side in even more suspicion.
"Make him Death! Or Pain! Or Sickness!" Malady suggested, its muffled voice coming from beneath the sofa?
Paestri ignored Malady, and it is obvious she has had lots of practice at it. "Really? You'd want one? Yay! I can probably make something right here, right now. But it won't be as special as I might want to make it," She warns.

"Exactly." Ka took the cup and lifted it up to his lips, drinking slowly, his eyes never leaving Linneas.
"Oh? I don't... really understand." Loki tilted his head to the side, mouth opening a small bit as he breathed in, trying to get what exactly she wanted to do. He, too, ignored Malady; why did she want to cause him so much harm? It wasn't like it was anything new, after all...

The teen was tense and felt utterly awkward, "They've been alone for a while now. Maybe I should check up on them." He murmurs.
"I think it would be better if I show you." Paestri smiles as she takes Loki's hand and starts to pull him up. "Where's your kitchen?" she asks brightly.
Malady peered out through the sofa and frowned, "Madam? Why are you going to show him how you work?" It whimpered.

"No need. They're coming in here; I heard them. You have nothing to worry about." Ka gave Linneas a disgusted look, as if saying, You're an a*****e.
Loki allowed himself to be pulled up, then led Paestri into the kitchen where Ka and Linneas were. "Here. I don't think Kan- er..." He glanced up to the dark demon. "I don't think Ka would mind."
Ka just smiled.

'The feeling is mutual,' Lynn snorted from within at Ka's expression. It frustrated him to be unable to take control of Linneas whenever he wanted. The Tale had grown far too strong for him to overake.
"Pae? Is anything wrong?" Linneas asked in concern, ignoring both Lynn and Ka. He had already begun to
"I'm fine, Linny." The Legend waved her older brother's concern away. She turned to Ka and smiled at him brightly, radiating a warm, open innocence. She still hadn't let go of Loki's hand.
"Linny, I'm gonna be baking stuff. Can I bake here? Pleeeeeease" she asks him, giving him her icing-pink doe-eye stare.
Linneas quirked a brow at his sister, "What? Why here?" He blinks in confusion.
"It's a surprise!" Paestri giggles, "I want to make something for everyone and what better time than now and what better place than here? It is alright, Mister Ka?" she turns to Loki's temporary guardian.

"It is fine with me." Ka murmured softly, waving a hand as he stepped to the side. "Just don't break her dragon teapot."
Tilting his head, Loki watched with intent curiosity, not saying a word.

Malady seeped out of the floorboards and fashioned itself into an aklet on Paestri's leg.
"This isn't a good idea..." it moans.
Linneas saw there was nothing he could do or say to dissuade his sister. He only hoped she knew what she was doing.
"Thank you, I need to borrow some stuff first," She states, searching through the cabinets until she found what she was looking for. She took out several bowls and a few plates, laying them atop the kitchen table. Absently, she rubbed her locket before beginning. A halo of light circled around Paestri's eyes, and like a conductor at an orchestra, her hands began to sway.
Multi-colored wisps were gathering around her. She plucked at particular strands, humming a silly tune as she molded and shaped them. They obeyed her hands, taking forms and becoming visible to those present.
Grotesque creatures with multiple limbs, spikes and their innards hanging out of their mouths were squirming in her grasp. Paestri unflinchingly digs her fingers into their maws to yank out the rest of their intestines. Tossing away their carcass back into the air, they dissapate into nothingness. The intestines are dropped into the bowl and suddenly resemble flour.
There were delicate butterflies whose wings shifted hues with each flap, and mercilessly Paestri rips them apart and grinds them into dust. She sprinkles the fine powder into the bowl and they take on the shape and texture of sugar.
A soft, sponge-like creature with numerous eyes is wrung of its tears and the liquid is poured into the bowl and milk appears. And finally, tiny insect-like beings were forcibly squashed into the shape of chocolate chips.
Without actually touching the mixture, Paestri mixes them together, beating them without any tools, whipping with nothing but her gestures. Finally, she poured the mixture onto two plates. In the first it solidified into cookies. In the second it became brownies.
"That one," Paestri points at the cookies "Is supposed to make you calm and relaxed. Linny needs that I think." she giggles, "And this one," she nudges the brownies, "Is supposed to help you put things into perspective."

"Put things into perspective...?" Loki didn't know what to think, but nonetheless, he was awed with what Paestri had done. So morbid, yet... she acted like she had done nothing wrong.
He absolutely loved her for it.
"What, exactly, pray tell... needs to be put into perspective?" Loki stepped near to the brownies, ducking his head and peering at them skeptically. "And how long do they last...?"
Raising an eyebrow, Ka looked quite impressed, though said nothing.

Linneas was horrified, absolutely, undoubtedly and without question horrified at what he just witnessed. He felt ill, his stomach threatening to leap out of his mouth and splay prostrate at Paestri's feet.
"Excuse me." He retches and dashes out of the house, possibly to throw up.
"But I thought Linny liked cookies?" The Legend blinked in confusion. She shrugged and nudged the plates to both Ka and Loki. "I don't really know what perspective really, these are just Generic ones. Specific ones are too risky to make as of now, I don't know how to get those ingredients yet." Paestri shrugs.
From Paestri's ankle, Malady fizzles and seems more solid, more present than it did a moment ago. But it quickly returns to normal. Rising up, the Intangible glares at Loki, "If you don't want it, then don't eat it. But you're letting Madam's work go to waste."
"Last? Well the cookies will go stale like regular cookies do, and when that happens they become regular stale cookies. Same as the brownies. Was that what you were asking?" She smiles sweetly.

"Aaah..." Loki murmured, taking a brownie and biting into it thoughtfully, chewing slowly. He still didn't really understand, but once he had consumed the whole thing, his gaze turned to one of his items. It glowed softly, and as soon as he glanced at both Paestri and Ka's expressions, he realized that he was the only one who could see it.
So that's what she meant... understanding. Perspective. What an interesting kid... no wonder he had been attracted to her when she was a baby.
"Looks like the guy can't stomach it," Ka muttered, grinning darkly as his hand darted out to snag a cookie. He could use some calmness as of lately. "Wonderful talent you have there..."
