celestial_lilith: Well, if anything, Ravenwolf's books were good enough to get you interested in Wicca, right? sweatdrop Oh, and I have a recommendation for one of them...
The Ultimate Book of Shadows for the New Generation Solitary Witch Author: Silver Ravenwolf (DON'T KILL ME, ANYONE)
We all tend to think Ravenwolf is, uh, not the most credible source, but this is one awesome book. It provides a short run-down of a lot of magic-related things, such as: colors, gems, and stones and their magical properties, symbols and magic alphabets, there's even a section on alchemy. There's, like, everything in this book. The bibliography is a goldmine if you're looking for more books or different authors. I wouldn't suggest this book for a beginner or a person who's just started learning what Wicca is, but as more of a reference book for those already writing spells and worshipping the Goddess. Many, many great ideas can be found in this book.
So, if you can ignore some of Ravenwolf's less desirable traits (like Christian-bashing, which there isn't much of in this, thankfully)...
3.5/5 pentacles (since it's not really a beginner's book and Ravenwolf just kinda puts me off).

You know, I thought it sounded like people were being a little too hard on her from reading her 'Book of Shadows,' (Only book I've got from her) but I guess she's written a lot more than just that book, neh? ^^;

Sucellus You know, I thought it sounded like people were being a little too hard on her from reading her 'Book of Shadows,' (Only book I've got from her) but I guess she's written a lot more than just that book, neh? ^^; Looooooooooooooooooooooot more. Plus something like a witchcraft kit. I've been meaning to pick some of them up but my library doesn't have hardly anything... must remember to donate books on Wicca and paganism to them once finished reading them, yep yep.
But innit spiffy how she compiled all of that? whee

Spifftastic! She definitely did us the good favor of getting the gist of a magickal art before going out and buying a book that specializes in it. Heck, there's enough in that book to be generally up to speed on everything covered. Call it book 2 in your Wiccan library, before you decide what book 3's gonna' be. 3nodding

Wiccan Warrior This book is great for people who follow the warriors path. It brings in a lot of bushido thought and make reference to the book of five rings, secret tactics, and a hole bunch of other bushido books. I especially liked it because of my martial arts background. The way the author combinded modern wicca with martial arts theory really fit in to how I practice my form of paganism. I thought it was awesome.

was posted by starlock on an other thread:
I forget if it is a Dummies guide or Idiot's Guide, but the Dummy/Idiot Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft is a good place to start.
Cunningham's "Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" is also a great read.
For something a bit more schoarly, try Adler's "Drawing Down the Moon."
For websites... look over www.wicca.timerift.net. =)

I havent' got to the spiral dance yet, though when i'm done reading the pile of books i just bought I will probably get to that one, and the other one she wrote.

yeah, you should. My step mom practiced to the craft for a while. and she bought alot of good of good books, and when she learned that i was interested in witchcraft she baisically threw a whole bunch of books at me. so i've got access to alot of books that i don't have to buy. that's also how i got my first Scott Cunningham books, they where the Guid for the solitary practitioner, and A further guid for the solitary practioner. since them i've bought at least one more of his books everytime i get paid.
