Cyanide is a brilliant scientist. The greatest shortfall is that he is obsessed with his work and tends to forget about the social aspects of his life. Friends, family, his keys... all things he needs written down or he will forget about them. Forget keeping a schedule or a meeting. What he needs is a secretary. Good thing his sister keeps him in line...
Otherwise, he has a generous heart. If one can pull him away from his work, he is halfway decent at conversing, and is genuinely interested in what others have to say, the status of their lives, and keeping in touch. He's just... so very focused. Perhaps if he found the right mate he would become similarly obsessed with her...

Cyanide grew up the son of, you guessed it, more scientists. Both are probably locked in a lab somewhere to this day, if they haven't killed themselves in their experiments. From as far back as he can remember, his sister Ricin has looked after him. You would never know that she was the younger of the two.
Their cousin Trypan keeps the humor in their lives; whenever they get too serious he interjects with some silliness or other. His home life was a little less stable, and as a result he lived with his aunt and uncle much of the time. This is probably why there is minor argument as to whether he is a cousin, or a brother.

Arisa is really quite strange. Zany, expressive and outgoing, she is rarely afraid to show how intelligent - or clueless - she is about something. She is good with gadgets, math, logic, and other "technical stuff," but like certain other smart people... is just downright spacey. Pun intended.

She is, in fact, an alien. That much is known, but anything more and Arisa 'would have to kill you.' That is unfortunate since she is the sort of person who would like to share her past with friends. She would love to describe her home, family, culture - anything in detail! In many ways, she is just as lonely as Blake... With a far-reaching gaze, sometimes it is difficult which Murdach is addressing, the discussion at hand or some plan unfurling before a distant future. No doubt he sees sunshine and rolling hills in his future. For now he is content with the company at hand and treats them all with friendliness and respect, a good jab here and an entertaining tale there. He seems most attuned with groups of people, but when alone with a friend or acquaintance is capable of deep thought and contemplation. No doubt long days and nights alone on the road have instilled this quality in him.

Murdach grew up in a household that elevated its ladies onto proverbial pedestals. They were almost revered as they were treated with delicacy but also respect. Because of this, a sister whose tendency to be like the boys was tolerated and minimally encouraged, where in other noble homes might have squelched her personality. She was not acting the part but because it was her wish she was allowed to continue. As a child Murdach got along best with her, and from their close and open relationship learned far more about the mind of the fairer sex than from their mother and other sisters.
Nowadays he is removed from his family. As the youngest son, it was decided best for him to strike out into the world and find his own fortune and with any luck a lady and a castle to call his own. Always in his travels he wished to one day return home and reunite with his closest friend and sister, to show her what he has found and to tell her many wonderful stories.
His travels found him exploring a Haven which he has never seen or heard of before, not even in the most crowded of taverns. He made many friends here, in particular a lady by the name of Elaine with whom he became very close. One day he declared his intentions to bring her home with him. She seemed very happy about this, if a little unsure.
And miraculously, his sister came to find the Haven on her own. The relationship between the two women seems strange, and suddenly Murdach's bright future sees some storm clouds on the horizon...

Details about his past are sketchy at best. Are they shady - or simply too boring to mention? No one really knows. He prefers to live in the present, though he certainly seems to have enough cash to plan well into the future. Rumor has it that he is involved in some sort of smuggling, though no scrap of evidence has ever linked back to him.
An interesting fixture in his life is Eve. Speculation as to whether they are siblings, or father and daughter, remain just that. He won't say; and she calls him by his first name. But he treats her like a princess, more so than his lady friends (of course this probably does nothing but endear him further with them). He dotes on her, not like a worried or protective elder but like a cherished little lady, always up on her little pedestal.
He met Annaliese through their mutual acquaintance, Eve. Annaliese is Eve's hairdresser (who better than her to help keep the flapper image alive!), and one day she brought Vino in to get a trim...

Like the rest of his family, Trypan has a love for the sciences. His focus is more in the realm of healing and cosmetic medicines (not like his father, see below, but real medicine), anything that will make the soul healthier. The reason for this is perhaps a little shallow or vain, but hey whatever works. He likes to use his cousins as specimens to their mutual benefit, as he says.
Trypan is a social butterfly. He knows everyone and has no qualms sharing of himself as well. But like his cousin Cyanide, his reason for being so chummy has nothing to do with gossip and everything to do with a generalized worry for everyone's well-being. If someone is in need he will drop everything to help. This does get in the way of his progress in his studies and scientific explorations, so in this way he is like an opposite to his cousins, but he sees little problem with it. He is, after all, rather young and has his whole lifetime to make that special leap in the scientific community. The more immediate needs of his closest friends are more important anyway.

Cyanide's brother? It is possible that they are not actually brothers, but cousins. Cyanide will not confirm either, even if Trypan insists that they are siblings. Whichever is certain is that they are related. And Trypan won't mind telling people random things about him either. All right, the truth of the matter is, he likes to toy with Cyanide's mind. He is rather forgetful and Trypan likes to see how much he can get away with. However, they are in fact cousins, they've simply spent so much of their time together that the line between the two has become blurred.
The reason for Trypan's closeness with his cousins, aunt and uncle, probably stem directly from his own parents. His mother is a brilliant but self-centered chemist, his father a shallow and flighty cosmeceutical specialist. They seemed at the time like a good match; they could have combined their studies and made leaps and bounds into the field of cosmetic medicine, but alas... either their egos or their ethics simply did not mesh. Neither was a very attentive parent and Trypan was often times caught in the center of their arguments. As a result, if he was not serving as the knot in a game of tug-of-war, he was hiding amidst his cousins.
What came of all this however, was a vow to be what his parents should have been. He decided to try to be the best of what his parents had to offer and show everyone that maybe he was meant to be. And help other people along the way, of course.
