purgat0ry in my band i play guitar but i have to scream for the singer cos her voice is to... uh... yelling like have her try this once, have her try to sing in a depper voice and when she screams have her growl with it. It will take a little to get right but it'll make it sound less like shes yelling

I like the death metal style, but from my music, I despise vocals. I just cannot seem to mould them properly into the fast, neo-classical style. It seems no one appreciates the "'80's" style ov vocals anymore. So, I let the music sing itself. It is ironic though. After years and years ov guitar schooling and lessons, my music is not fit for vocals....

I play guitar mainly and do background vocals in my band. I'm thinking about doing a solo project one day where I do sing and play guitar.

Can anyone explain how growly blackmetalish vocalists achieve their voices? Like what they do to make the sounds. I am talking vocalists like.. Emperors, Catamenias, Ensiferum/Wintersuns even Rotting Christs.
Also I have a question about their singing, when they sing in their growling coarse shrieking evil voices, are they shouting into the microphone or are they only around as loud as clear, normal talking is?

I try to be one...but don't think it works out to well. I've had like maybe two people say that I'm ok but I know that I'm not that good at it.

I seriously can't sing. It sounds like I'm torturing my kitties if I do.

I sing in my band, though its not really your typical "metal" singing. Imagine Geddy Lee, only a little less higher.

I'm in a few bands, I mostly play bass or i sing, For singing i like to make my voice a high shrieking sound during corus' and what not, but usualy i would sound like the guy from kreator. Some what deep. Other times i can rapp depending on the song, its good to have a well rounded singing voice to keep the crowd/fans at the edge of there seats
