Had she splashed him back? Rubbing at his beautiful clothing (hmm. Well. There was always more of that somewhere.) he ran closer to the water and shifted for the sea. Not sand. His nose balanced just across the surface, he aimed it at Aysel and let it out.

A torrent of water, really. Except he was having fun, and wasn't paying attention. Head moving in a spin and hoping that some of the water would get the brat, he walked into the ocean until he was up to his knees. The water was cleaner back here. Kind of.

Although the salt did sting.

"Selly." he said smirking. "You have no wa'er."

Aysel ran after him, laughing like a mad man..er..toddler. Stumbling backwards from the second assault of water she wiped her eyes clear, still holding onto her bucket. The girl got just to the edge of the water and frowned.

She danced backwards as the waves licked towards her. Mommy had said not to go in the water.

"Selly!" 'Yan called smirking, "You have no wa'er." Looking up at her new friend the luna moth frowned, not paying attention to the water anymore. Selly? Who was Selly?

"ay SEL ly." he said. The Ay was harder to get his tongue around that normal. He didn't know why, some noises were just difficult to make. Picking up another torrent of water, he splashed her.

And smiled. Honestly. Did that girl listen to _everything_ boobie said to her? That must prove to be very boring. Sure he listened to everything JD said, but JD wasn't a boobie. And Aysel's guardian was.

Just like how he wasn't listening at all to his boobie auntie. She was still a boobie, after all.

"Selly?" he asked, "Aysel?"

Oh! He was talking about her! Selly, it wasn't that bad of a nickname. Her most important considerations of names was cut short by another spash of water. Now thouroghly soaked the luna moth grinned. Checking back at her mommy she found her engrossed in arguing with someone.

Racing forward with the pail she spashed into the ocean, kicking up water everywhere. Digging the pail into the salt water, she threw the water at 'Yan, adding in a spash from her lower arms as well. The laughter started once more as she started the age old splashing game.

Narayan spluttered, trying to get the salt water out of his eyes and out of his mouth. But he was grinning, and he let out something that might have passed as a trumpet of joy-- so what if it was more of a pathetic squeal? Tomorrow, Narayan would blame the water for masking his toughness.

Letting out a yell for joy, he splashed her with his hands, coordinating it with his nose so that it was a constant stream-- still, he would be well matched. He admired her four arms now. How useful it must be!

Not as useful as his nose-- and certainly, not as pretty. But it was close enough.

He didn't have time to feel too proud about getting her in the water yet. He was too focused on getting her wet the first time around, and then trying to get her wetter. Later, later he would try to savour his victory.

The water was fun, not at all dangerous like her mommy had said. The unshakeable belief in the rightness of her mommy was slowly being shaken off it's foundation. Eyes scrunched up against the water, Aysel was immerssed (quite literally) in sending her own stream of water towards 'Yan.

Not far from the shore a speed boat zoomed past, throwing up a large wake. The waves travelled closer and closer to shore, gaining strength as the bottom became shallower and shallower.

Bad things can never stay alone, as Tara finally managed to send the irritating man running away. This was their spot, they were here first and some idiot human couldn't just reserve it. Turning her gaze to the toddlers she found that the two were no longer simply building a sandcastle, but had made their way to the ocean splashing one another.

Tara bit her lip weighing the options. Aysel looked like she was having fun, and Tara could probably wait to go retrieve her. So long as things remained safe.. The moment they moved out too far though.

Narayan giggled. The boat made enough noise that for a moment he looked up, startled and distracted enough that water went up too high, salt burning skin too sensitive right now.

But he was having fun, and that was all that mattered.

Letting out another pathetic trumpet(Soon impatient one. XD ), Narayan splashed her with water, tripping back with the attempt and ending up with only his head above ground.

Well. This was nice too! And the water was so cool compared to the sordid heat.

"Selly!" he said, grinning.

Aysel laughed even harder as 'Yan fell backwards into the water, making him that much of an easier target to hit. It was still fun and games when the wave hit. Though it probably didn't do much to Yan, submerged beneath the water, the wave knocked Aysel off of her feet, rolling her around until it began to tug back out to the ocean, pulling the toddler.

Aysel paniced when the wave knocked her over, not even managing to get a good breath in. Arms flailed frantically as she tried to regain her footing in the ocean as it tumbled her around and around. Quite by accident the toddler got a mouthful of salt water, swallowing part before managing to keep her mouth shut.

"AYSEL!" The shout rang out as Tara jumped from her spot on the beach.

Immediatly Narayan tried to get up. The sand was soft under the sea, but his feet were wide enough that he had more grip than normal. So what if it was a pathetic attempt? It was firmer than on the soft soft sand on the beach, and Narayan, alarmed made his way over, trying just barely to reach her.

But he was short as well, and he didn't know how to swim. Standing hesitantly as deep as he could do without submerging his head, he craned out, reaching for the green form. She was easy to see in the water.

"Selly!" he demanded. Following her. A little deeper, that was fine. His nose helped him breath, after all.

Eyes blinking the salt water away furiously, he craned his head up, reaching out and trying to catch the moving girl.

She was moving so fast!

Tara reached the edge of the water in what seemed to be a blink of an eye. Dipping one hand in she whispered something under her breath.

Aysel finally managed to stop spinning under the water and fight her way upright in the water. Suddenly the water pulled away from her gently, scooping her up with a strange firmness that Aysel knew water wasn't suppose to have.

A drop of sweat rolled down Tara's face as she stared intently at the water, one hand in contact the entire time. At least water was her element, the easiest for her to deal with, and least energy consuming to control without a set spell. A similar bubble formed around Narayan, water racing away from the boy.

Coughing Aysel simply sat on the bubble as it brought her back to land, finally popping when it had settled her down on the shore some ways back from the surf.

Impatiently the water started urging Narayan back to the beach. And the rather angry mage that was standing there.

What was this?! Narayan struggled in the little bubble, struggling until he was safe and normal on sand too hot and too dry compared to what he had been floating in moments before.

An outraged and somewhat startled squeak left his mouth as he stared at Tara, his eyes taking in her stance, her eyes and... he stopped, and the nose curled around itself in self defense.

Struggling to get up, he stood there for a moment, his tail shaking with some apprehension as he looked up. His eyes went to Aysel immediatley, glad to see that he was safe.

Oh. So THAT was why she wasn't allowed to go into the water? Stupid little girl. But she was still kind of fun.

"Too much water." Narayan managed, the words careful and trying very hard not to panic.

But this boobie scared him.

Aysel finally caught her breath after hacking up what felt like an entire ocean of sea water. Her mouth tasted saltly and puckered up in distate. Cautiously she looked over at her mommy and winced at the angry face.

"Moommy!!" She cried, diverting attention back to her. "My 'ault! 'orry!" she cried, tears starting to drip down her face. With a sigh Tara bent and picked her 'daughter' up, carefully cradling her as the toddler sobbed.

"You're allright now. You're okay.." her mommy whispered softly. "I won't let anything hurt you.."

Still sniffling Aysel clung tighter to her mommy. Another sigh escaped from the mage before she stuck her hand out at Narayan. "Come on then," Tara said. "Let's bring you back to your parents. I'm not going to have a toddler wandering loose on my conscience." Amazing how well tears worked to calm a mother's rage.

Narayan felt a shudder of relief creep down his spine. So boobie wasn't angry at him, then? Relieved, happy, and also a little bit apprehensive, (what if this was some gigantic ploy to _pretend_ that she was alright, when in fact she was going to chew his head out?_ the offered hand had him pause.

But he took it.

Reaching out with his nose and sidling it inside the palm, he smiled up at her, blinking cowlish eyes and trying to reassure himself that everything was okay.

Still.

It had been rather fun, getting Aysel into the water. In fact, now that she was safe (she had accepted the blame! What an odd thing to do...) it was easy to say that everything about the incident had been fun. He had to get in trouble more often with this boobie around!

"Pa rents?" he inquired, tilting his head. Oh, right! His own boobie! Nodding his head, he tried to look around. "She pink." he said.

Pink umbrella. Pink one piece. Pink bag. It couldn't be too hard to look.

Aysel still clung to her mommy, surprised she hadn't gotten a talking to yet. She had disobeyed the rules and went in the water and she was never ever ever going to do that again. No way! Sniffling, still shaken from her experience Aysel looked down at 'Yan.

Pink... The one color Tara absolutely hated. Stifling and pastely and pink. Red was fine, color of passion and all that. But pink was for watered down simpering helpless females. And well, Tara was not simpering and certainly not helpless.

"Your mom is pink. Great." Tara turned towards the huge beach surveying the umbrellas. "Well.. Let's go one by one then." Slipping into her now sandy and scuffed shoes Tara set out towards the umbrellas.

((You can decide when and if we find his pink aunt.))

Narayan nodded his head. Deciding not to correct this boobie on the fact that he had no mother, (And what a waste. He wanted a boobie to snuggle up too all the time...) he tried to peer for the familiar shade of pastel that he was used to seeing on this one.

This one was his favorite. Looking up at Aysel, he smiled. "Okay?" he asked, a little bit concerned.

He didn't want to be ratted out later, in privacy. "She pink." he said, speaking not to Tara, but to Aysel. Part of him wanted to be held up there too-- but he wasn't willing to push his luck.

What if this boobie said no?

They sand was getting hotter underneath his feet, and his skin was starting to feel a little bit prickly. Maybe it was the shock of sea water and sun, but he didn't like it. Tail flicking with irritation, he yelled.

"JU!"

...

So what if it was a trifle pathetic? It was a start.

((hmmm... next post? XD ))
