If a chick acts violent, its her own fault. You can't blame a game. Or a movie. When you watch a violent movie, you decide how you want to act upon seeing it either being unfazed, changed in some way, or act with more violence. Its all up to you. Doi. stressed

people love to blame violence or anything else that is wrong on books, movies or videogames. But the problem lies within the person, not within the fandom sweatdrop

The way I see it is, a normally functioning adult will be able to tell the difference between fact and fiction, and will probably not be affected so much by watching a movie or playing a game. If we're talking about *children*, however, that's a different matter. Young children haven't completely learned what does and does not fit in society, so they would be more susceptible to imitating what they see on the TV. Which is exactly why the ratings system is in place.

So, the solution...don't let kids play M-rated games or watch R-rated movies. Problem solved.

Of course, there are always going to be nutcases who copy what they see on TV--criminals who were mentally unstable to begin with. However, there have been psychos who have mimicked movies before, and there hasn't been a wide ban on violent movies.

Hopefully it won't become political sweatdrop

Indeed, young children can't tell the difference. Parents should look at the ratings, simple as that.

But when an adult who is mentally unstable does that, people tend to blame it on the fandom. But a fandom can have millions of fans, while only a small percentage of adult fans are influenced. And they are mentally unstable.

Pirri
There was an article recently in the British Daily Telegraph that pointed to movies as causing girls to be more violent. It's bullshit, to my mind -- girls have always had the potential to be violent, but socialized not to be.

I'm expecting to hear about video games making girls more violent, anyday now.

Movies causing girls to be more violent? Yeah right. I see violent movies and that doesn't make me want to be violent. Girls have always had the potential to be violent (like you said).
If they say that about videogames then you know they're making something up.

I highly doubt videogames make girls more violent. I've only heard of cases about boys.
And anyway, I'm violent (not a very bad violent though) and its not because of videogames. I'm naturally like that.
I don't think videogames changes girls.

I don't get it...

Why are people lately blaming all in games?

It is our fault if we throw ourselfs into the violence because we put into ourselfs that what happens in a game can happend in real life wich is not true.

Even though in some part I don't think it is fault of the games that we are violent is just the way some of us are -o-;

I wasn't allowed to watch power rangers when I was a kid because I would beat up the boys. But they made fun of me, so I think the power rangers did me some good.
I have an anger issue, i'll admit, but i got that from bad parenting, not video games.

surprised violence violence

a hot topic for video games

Was the same with movies and music. Rap making kids shoot eachother?

:3 well

I think all media influences heavily. I think that playing excessively violent video games does cause the thought of violence to rise up more often in ones mind. However they choose to act upon it is another question.

Even good parenting can't save a few kids from making really bad decisions. However, it's easy to concentrate on those few cases and not on the vast majority of people who probably aren't super violent.

Plus.

I think today, as a whole

people are much more violent anyway. Wars. Road rage. Fights over resources.

People are violent period. Look at movies. Those are made by ADULTS.

D: Right? Older adults? Who are makeing them increasingly gory and what not. Saw 2? Hostle?

Even though those are ment to be viewed by adults only, you know there's parents that won't care. Those few kids can become violent and spread it among other kids.

Blah. It's hard to place a blame. A great excuse is "parents fault."

Because games are have just hit the society-wide awareness. Before, videogames were considered "kid stuff". But now, games are making more money than the movies.

Think about that for a minute.

More money than movies.

And where the money goes, examination of who's buying what, why and whether or not it makes them buy more, follows.

I think that they're blaming the video games because our generation didn't turn out the way that the older generation wanted us to. They want the world to be like it was when THEY were growing up, and they just don't want to face the reality that it isn't like that anymore. People change. Sure, some dumbass kids may have been influenced by violent games, but that doesn't mean you have to diss the entire industry. But that's just what I think.

people these days are just looking for someone to blame their problems on " my daughters too violent hmm lets blame it on video games after all there's noway it has something to do with how they just are or how they are raised- yep its definitely video games fault!! " that's just total BS. society today is all blame. nobody wants to take responsibility for anything!!!
