Just make sure if you sell clothing to other people that you do high quality work. Don't take any shortcuts or leave seams unfinished, etc. (I'm not really a seamstress, so I wouldn't know very much about these things myself, though I'm currently teaching myself to sew by trial and error).
Edit: Btw, I wasn't implying that you would do these things or that your work wasn't high quality. I was simply saying this is something that people will look for and find more favorable.

Oh god, remember the post on DoA about that? I must've been one of the few people who thought it was a good idea to use a serger... There were like, two who kept pushing for it... And then I was like "Yeah, use a serger." Despite the fact that serging such tiny things is not fun. Not to mention the fact that my serger doesn't like it when I thread it. Even if I just pull the threads through, it hates me. But it loves my mother... wtf?!

I just think its sort of a bad idea, the little fingers tend to snag on the serged edge whee

I just finished my first piece of NICE doll clothing: an orange silk vest for Florian. Egads, that was a pain. First I had to make countless mockups because he's an Ai boy and they're some of the biggest dolls out there. Then I had to make the actual vest... *cry* Raw nubbly silk fabric may be glorious, especially in the orange I found, but it's a fraying NIGHTMARE. Thank GOD I tested a scrap in my serger, since I discovered that serging...MAKES THE FRAY WORSE. >_0 The serger just eats the edge of the fabric. So I had to get creative with Fray-Check and iron-on interfacing. Then the lining got eaten by the sewing machine (both when I used my really nice lining fabric AND when I used some Silk Essence faux-silk lining fabric), so I had to get creative on finishing the edges; I ended up turning them over, doing some insanely tiny and close-to-the-edge topstitching, and then clipping the raw ends. Sewing tiny armholes in topstitching on a regular machine... *dies*
And the best part? I still haven't made his matching orange silk kneebreeches and orange silk tie! ^_^

Legato bluesummers lia, now try msd sized topstiching! 3nodding boy was that fun... I think I have banned myself from ever doing topstiching except on human sized things, and even then, just a maybe >.< I'm weird. I actually LIKE miniature topstitching. ^_^ Actually, what killed me was how evil the fabric was being. I was surprised at how much I actually liked sewing in miniature. xd I mean, I even scaled down the stitches on my machine and everything! And it's somewhat sad that Florian's vest is the nicest thing I've sewn in months. But still. That vest is smexy. And the pants are almost as nice...they have creases up the front and everything! The only problem was that I forgot initially to put the darts in the back of the pants for fitting purposes, so Florian decided to play uke when I put him on his stomach, and he just dropped his pants to show just his butt. That got fixed though. Next up for Flor-flor: Roy Mustang uniform. (Yay for more topstitching, but I think that the Florian-sized bias tape will kill me. gonk )

I love mini topstitching! It's the armholes that get me. Which is why I do dollfie stuff by hand.

I was just thinking about the fingers getting caught, and wodered if you guys know about putting a small sock or some saran-wrap over dolls' hands when dressing them to avoid catching in snags. Unless somebody already posted that, in which case I'm a forgetful simpleton. ^~;

I actually hadn't heard that before.
It's not too much of a problem for me though, so I don't mind.
