"I smell pot roast!" The girl chirped happily, completely oblivious to the fire burning away at her hair. The kitten batted at it, to no avail.

Finally, it gave up and took an ear of the hat by its paws, and smothered the quickly moving flame before it could reach the girl's brain, or whatever was left of it after the great amounts of sugar that she had consumed. It wouldn't look too bad either, Mayu's hair just needed a little trim and it would look fine as ever.

"Kitty, now my hat is burnt!" The Legend pouted, batting at the cat lightly. It meowed, a bit miffed that the victorious attempt to put out the flame in Mayu's hair had gone unacknowledged.

"No one... speaks of my dead sister. Or calls me as such." His face was grave, and he twisted his hand again, eyes closing halfway to give him a bit of a malevolent look.

The flames on his fingertips flew once again to Mayu's hair, this time representing more of spirits of flame, who quite happily ate away at her hair and hat.

The hyena boy's gaze then went back to Demare, as if he challenged the other to dare oppose him.

"Let it burn."

The child growled a little bit, Mordanath screeching in reaction to Clare's anger. He'd never felt like this before. Such... pure rage. All because someone was picking on his friend. Had he always been like this? Or was that merely Demian's violent influence finally affecting him?

"I doubt she even knew, you fool!" he snapped, his red eyes opening to stare at the hyena. "What does it matter, anyway? People share the same names. I don't try to kill people just because they call out Micheal!"

His white eye widened a little bit, leaving the black one still slitted. He was doing this on purpose. Fine... let it burn. Let it feed his anger. His fire. He pulled out his dagger, eyes fixated on Loki.

"Put out the fire," he demanded. "Or would you like for me to return the favor of which you're doing to her?"

The sugar blocking the regular circulation of blood to Mayu's had cleared out significantly, and the first intelligent thought she had was of smoke. Where the devil was the smoke coming from? And in addition to that, where the hell was she?

Oh yes, she was at the Legend HQ. And the smoke was coming from... her hair.

"My head is on fire, isn't it?" Mayu smiled, though she didn't have to ask. Tossing the poor kitten for the second time in the day, the girl ran flailing to the nearest water source in the headquarters, nearly running into the same sapling she had bumped into when she had arrived.

She returned moments later, head soaking wet and eyes narrowed. The hair would grow back in a relatively short amount of time, but whoever had set her head on fire in the first place was dead.

"Looks like the fire's already put out..." Loki purred, still staring at Demare. "Perhaps you'd like a friendly one on one to put you in your place...?"

Demare couldn't help but smirk slightly. Something just seemed completely off with him at the moment, Clare not being his usual passive and cheery self.

"You've got a long way to go if you think you can do that," he sneered, his wings fidgetting a little bit. His eyes shifted to the tree girl. "Mayu, are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine." Mayu gave Demare a thumbs up, marching straight over to Loki. She smiled brightly before raising her hand and smacking the boy across the face sharply. She might've been weak, but if there's one thing all men fear, it's the mighty b***h slap. Well, that and being kicked in the nuts, but she would spare Loki of that torment for now.

Now, she had to figure out where she had tossed her beloved kitty in all of this confusion.

Head turning to the side, Loki glared at the ground for a long moment, not even daring to reach up to rub his cheek. The pain was welcoming, and the sting remained.

Oh yes, how he reveled in that moment.

"Lue."

Something bristled in his scarf, and remained there, poised and ready to attack. It was then that he addressed both of the others.

"I seeeee...." He half sung. "You both... are well acquainted, aren't you...?"

Demare was a bit dumbfounded as Mayu slapped Loki across the face, telling himself never to get on her bad side. Angry women were a force meant not to deal with, as he discovered with his guardian.

He scowled a bit at Loki's curious reaction, however. "So what if we are?" he asked, noticing something move in the boy's scarf. The fire was more than alive, he realized.

"Kitty! Come out!" Mayu crooned, poking about the trees. The orange puffball was still in shock from being flung into the air two times, so stayed hidden in case the girl was thinking of a third. As much as it was attatched to the Legend, it still would not come out of its safe hiding spot.

"A shame... such vicious acts should come to your woman." With a tilt of his head, a flaming red lizard launched from his scarf and latched onto Mayu's nose with extravagant gusto, attempting to draw blood.

With the distraction, Loki took his chance to twist out of Demare's grasp, grabbing his scarf and dancing a few feet away. Hopefully, the scarf had burned his hand with the added heat he had wanted.

No one messed with him and got away with it... not without a price.

His... WHAT? He turned as he saw the creature fly out of the scarf, reluctantly letting it go as Loki shuffled himself away. His left hand had been badly burned, the bandage around it scorched and partially flaking off, but this didn't seem to bother him as much as it normally would. Granted, Clare knew he would feel it later and it would be VERY painful, but right now he was being blinded by his anger. Perhaps that's similar to what people called a "beserk" state.

"Mayu!" Okay, THAT DID IT. The other boy would not be getting away with his antics anymore. "GGGRRRRR!!"

Unable to take it any longer, the halfling charged toward Loki, tackling him hard as he was very careful not to let the blade of his dagger touch the other. Oh, no... it wouldn't be time for that yet.

"Ow!" Mayu hissed as the lizard chomped on her nose, glaring downwards as well as she could. She attempted to tug it off, but it seemed t be latched on tight. Leaving it along for the moment, Mayu resumed her search for the orange tabby.

A mew from beneath a large tree root revealed the kitten's hiding spot. Scurrying over, she scooped up the struggling kitty and gave it a small pat on the head, to remind it not to run away again.

Now that she had found the fuzzy little thing, it was time to return to the problem at hand, trying to get this stupid red thing off of her nose. Holding the kitten in one arm, Mayu tried to yank the lizard off with her free hand.

Lue remained latched on tight, but swung himself up and finally let go when her hand was well enough away, scuttling around to entwine himself around her branches. Lizards were rather flexible, after all.

Rolling over so that he landed on top of Demare, Loki attempted to pin his arms, one hand flicking to call more spirits to his beckoning. Unfortunately for him, Lue was the only one available at hand. And, on top of that, thanks to the tackle Demare had given him, Loki was a bit winded.

Demare struggled under the pin for only a moment, using the fact that Loki was winded to his advantage. Rolling the hyena boy over so the halfling would be on top instead, he pinned the other's arms and legs down with his hands and knees.

"My, such long hair you have," he spat, giving the boy a bit of a crazed look. "Here, let me cut that for you!"

It was only fair. Loki had torched Mayu's beautiful silver hair, so it was only fair that his get damaged as well. It didn't matter if the child wanted it or not; all that mattered was that he was the one who did it.

In a swift motion, he lifted his right arm into the air and quickly brought the dagger down, the edge of the blade sinking down into the earth as it sliced right through the blonde hair.
