I guess someone could call me chistian buddhist. Not that I belive in a single part of christianity other then be a good person. Rather as I am from christian background and know mostly christian people, I am culturaly christian. I give my family gifts at christmas and the story of Jesus can pluck some heart strings in me. But I have no spritual connection to christianity and would never refere to myself as a christian.

★★★ I like what you said in your post there, Eye_seE! I suppose I am also, cuturally, a Christian, since that is what I grew up with, and that's the religion which influenced the culture I live in right now.★★★

[ Jizo Bosatsu ] ★★★ I like what you said in your post there, Eye_seE! I suppose I am also, cuturally, a Christian, since that is what I grew up with, and that's the religion which influenced the culture I live in right now.★★★ Thanks. I think christian converts to buddhist thinking will have be aware of how their cultural heritage is going to effect both their practice and the development of western buddhism. We allready see that buddhist groups in the west are taking a more christian church type format, in which lay followers attended weekly meetings for spiritual guidence and such. Mostly as this is what is fimilar to former christians as how a religon should be organized. And I though of another way that im culturaly christian. I still say "god damn" and "jesus christ" all the time. blaugh

Shokai Correct me if i am wrong, but In Theravadin texts, it talks about heavens, gods, dieties, etc...is that considered "cosmological"? Yep, but the Theravadans don't put as much emphasis on it as some of the Mahayana and the Vajrianan will. Gods/goddesses are backdrop to them, whereas in a few of the Mahayana sects they're the forefront. Also, think there was a long enough timelapse between the question and answer there? xd

I'm sure it might be a bit difficult but I believe mixing Christianity with Buddhism can be done.

crystal_raye I'm sure it might be a bit difficult but I believe mixing Christianity with Buddhism can be done. I don't think so. Christianity is quite exclusive, seeing as Jesus was very clear that he was the one and only path to Heaven.
