Girl meets guy, they fall in love (practically at first sight), something happens to break them up, they realize they can't live without each other, they get back together, THE END.
No, those aren't published stories (I hope). But I see those too often on forums and it just makes me wanna apuehpras;kdjh
I hate those kinds. I'm more of a tragedy/first friends kind of person. It seems to be more realistic anyway.

I like what you would call "courtly love" It's when a guy is beneath a girl, or sometimes (but not usually) vice versa. It makes it all the more romantic, in my opinon.

The Kitsune Hanyou So, do you have any particular kind of romance that you like best? Tragedy, first friends, love at first sight, from hate to love, etc. I personally like the ones that fight, yet love each other in the end best. I also have a thing for tragedies. (My favorite romantic movie is Titanic, so I guess my tragedy phase spawned from there.) Titanic is my favorite to

I dont think hate to love would be what I like...but something similar.
I like it when the stories are of two people who have met before and have some tragic background together, but they try to make it work!
I really cant stand the ones where it starts off as "I saw her, and knew she was the one..." pfft.

I'm an all time Hate-to-Love fan! It catches my attention more than "Love at first sight"...I also love the romance movies where the guy or the girl loses her memory, and she has to try to remember everything...I like a lot of angst...It's what makes a romance movie good...In my world... 3nodding

As long as it's not perfect right from the start and isn't overly cheesey, I like it. o:
I did read a book once where it was a Love-At-First sight kind of deal, but their parents kept them apart. They eventually got back together, though! After they dealt with all the bitterness.

I'm sure not many people have read it but I really liked the set up of the book called The Farmer's Wife. They had history together, but the girl ended up running away. And when she comes back to town years later her soon-to-be-who-was-alredy love sees her and falls off the roof in shock.
Made me giggle...

OMG I simply ADORE love triangles! Even though they are so cliched! But I absolutely DETEST love at first sight. It is sooooooo cheesy! I'm okay with hate-then-love, but it's not my favorite. And I LOVE tragic/bittersweet love stories! And you can't forget about sappy soap operas. =]
