After Effects [not finished] [PRP]Nae is in this color. Lithle is in this color.
It really didn't take much to recognize that the gleam in the eyes of the two males, the rising of the pulse and the slightly superior smirk as they dominated the stores was due to a classic case of shopoholicism.
JD liked to shop. He liked owning good things, buying in hard cash and knowing that others were watching him with envy. He knew he looked good, so he liked to parade himself around as well.
What delighted him was that the same shallow fascination seemed to exist in his new son, currently ... well, seven hours and forty minutes old. Their relationship, at any rate.
Having entered a store to buy jewellry, everything else was waiting for the both of them in the car. Or to be picked up by others at a later date. Carrying a single bag, JD was the first to walk into the cafe, and Narayan second.
Narayan, with his hand clenched tightly around the crimson back, his new silk shorts and vest still holding the scent of just-bought ness. Narayan, with his nose, and his ears and his tail, and feet too big for shoes. (Something that depressed JD immensly)
Narayan with his smile, who took a chair right across from his guardian, and nodded his head.
Yes, he was pleased with today.
Lunch.
Kyle could do lunch. What's the worst thing that could happen during lunch? Still, he couldn't help but be concerned. JD had been vague in the message he'd left, and in his experiance, that usually wasn't a good thing.
Still, it'd be nice to see him.
Isabel was at the 030 center, for another checkup, or something, but Earako, Michael's daughter, was with him. There were times when he wished he could find some free time, just for the two of them, but the young bat's company was always welcome.
And there, at the cafe, was JD. With a kid. A kid?
Wait, what?
"JD?"
JD looked up immediatly. Motioning to the waiter, he called out a order for coffee, juice for the brat. (Mango sounded good. Wait. Didn't elephants eat mangos?) and for the new kid too. His eyebrows rose in surprise. No. That wasn't another one of Kyle's kids. He was sure of that.
It was the other guys, right? The one that... with a scowl he tried to work it out, and realized he couldn't. They were all the same. Only things that were important to him stayed in his mind.
"Kyle." JD got up, crossing the distance and reaching the other man. It was a public place, and his son was burning holes in his back with his intent gaze. BUt this was Kyle, and Kyle fixed everything.
Almost.
"This is... Narayan." his voice held a touch of amusement, wariness. His family didn't know yet. How could he explain an elephant to his family? And this was... well. This was Kyle.
"I have a son." surprise, wryness. A touch of fear. "What am I supposed to do with it?"
Careless, speaking that way in front of the boy. But JD didn't really care right now. HE was here now.
Meanwhile Narayan stared around JD's form, and the other man. Flaties didn't really interest him much... boobies did, the human species with those soft things on their chest. They usually smelled good too. But he was staring at the girl. She was white. She was so white! And her dress looked pretty. Sliding out of his seat and slinking around the two men, he continued to stare.
"Whtre you?" he managed. "Narayan." he said, introducing himself, patting his chest proudly. His ears wiggled with delight at the name. Narayan.
At which point Vimber arrived. She'd fallen behind a bit, distracted by something shiny, and besides, Earako hadn't been paying attention. But as if she could sense the closeness of another being to her special one, she rushed around the corner, and was immediately at the pale girls side.
Hiss.
Kyle, of course, didn't notice. There was JD, giving him that look. Expectant. And... concerned? Yes. He remembered Isabel's revealing, and knew that he wouldn't let this shake them up so much. Not that it wasn't a shock, but he liked, LOVED children. And if the cute elephant boy was JD's, then he'd love him too.
Grabbing the other man, he pulled him into a tight hug, not minding the public place. He didn't much care about causing a scene. His clothes said that clearly enough. "Love him. They sorta take it from there." He murmured in the other man's ear, before releasing him.
"For now, maybe we should all have some lunch, and you can tell me what happened."
Earako stood watching Narayan, her interest distracting her from the grown ups. He had pretty clothes, though she bet she could make them even prettier. Absently scratching Vimber behind the horns (she was saying Hi, wasn't that cute?) she smiled at the boy, a gentle, almost wistful expression.
"Hello." Her voice was a measured whisper, sweet and carrying. "I'm Earako, and this is Vimber. She's a red dragon, and I'm a albino vampire bat from D-corp. Kyle's my uncle. Is he your uncle too?"
WHAT WAS THAT?! Narayan stared, just a small squeak smothered by a scowl as he stared at the big red thing. It was RED, and BIG. And it looked like it could eat people too!
Ooooooh.
Fear swiftly replaced by envy and desire, Narayan blinked, nose twitching in the half action similar to a hand reaching out to touch, and hesitating. Curling around itself again, he stopped.
And this thing talked alot. She reminded him of the boobies, except she was prettier with those big ears. Not as pretty as she could have been with a noise, but still pretty enough. Stopping and tilting his head as the words digested themselves a fraction later, he nodded. Showing that he understood.
Wait. Uncle?
His head spun around to watch the man again, more assessing. Well. He didn't seem to dress very well at all. And why had he been holding JD? Did he like hugs too? And why was the world so difficult to understand? Why? Why??
"Lunch sounds... good." JD said, clearing his throat and then staring at the dragon with a mixture of fascination and wariness. "D-Corp?" he said, and paused.
"Well. It seems Earaka and Narayan have something in common."
Ah, for the practiced bitter, ironic tone.
Vimber snorted, tossing her head and scooting slightly backwards, a movement that forced Earako to take a stumbing step back as well. She did not like this creature with his... existing... around her special one. She forgave the tall ones, because she had to, but even that was an effort.
The little one...
She could eat the little one.
Except it would make her special one unhappy.
"Huh. Imagine that." Giving JD a gentle push back toward a seat, Kyle gave the young boy an assessing look, before falling to one knee in front of him.
"Hi there. I'm Kyle, we're gonna be seein' a lot of each other. I hope we can be friends." He held out a hand toward the boy, to be shaken, or poked or otherwise explored. "You've got a good Dad, kid."
Narayan stared, alarmed. It was moving away! But he wanted one too. IT WAS SO RED AND SHINY!! He had seen the books with men and women on dragons, flying over burning cities. Wow. He could own the cities too, if he had something like that.
The talking of something like JD at him frown, looking up. It was hard for him to pay attention to what the man was saying however, because he wasn't a boobie-- boobies smelt good and looked nice, so he liked listening to them. And he looked kind of normal, compared to Rako. He liked Rako. And Vimber? Vimber.
Vimber vimber vimber vimber.
Staring at the hand, Narayan reached out to shake it with his own, tapping the top of it with his trunk in curiousness. Ew. It was hairy, and big. Not very nice compared to what boobies had.
Why couldn't JD introduce him to any of _those_ people?
And then he remembered. "Onka?" he asked. Rako had called him uncle, after all. What was a uncle anyways? And why would he have to see more of this man?
Hmmm. Maybe he would turn into one of those boobies in the future? Yes. That sounded much better then what was offered to him now.
"I'm sorry." JD said, apologizing immediatly. "Narayan has a short concentration span unless you're a woman." he smirked. Was that a hint of pride?
Yes, yes it was.
"Mmm... well, maybe I can make up for my gender if I buy him enough toys," Kyle replied. He sounded amused, not hurt, and casually mussed the boy's hair as he stood back up. "Uncle? Yeah, I guess that's fitting. I'm your Uncle Kyle."
Turning back to JD, he winked, "A lady killer like yourself, huh? Trouble when he gets older."
Earako ever polite, allowed Kyle to finish his conversation with Narayan before contributing more words of her own. She liked to make new friends, and if this one called Kyle uncle, that made them cousins. Savius was always saying that families had to take care of each other.
"Do you wanna pet Vimber?" She asked, scratching the dragon lightly behind her horns, completely ignorant of the unfriendly expression that she wore, and apparently incapible of hearing the low rumbling growl the red dragon made at the suggestion. "If you're from D-corp, you'll have a dragon too."
Narayan frowned, waiting for the hand to stop messing up his incredibly in hair style before carefully trying to smooth it back into place. Did that man not understand how long it took Narayan to get it to its casual wind blown appearance? It took long!!
JD in the meanwhile, snickered. "Why don't we order?" he suggested, grinning. Yes. Narayan wasn't what he had expected at first, but his personality... with the proud smirk of a man who had discovered a new source of entertainment, he nodded.
"Pet?" Why would you pet something like THAT? Scowling at the thought (it would eat him. Really. It would. It would eat him up and spit out his trunk... and then he would have to grow back from said trunk) he hesitated. He didn't want to look like a coward.
Besides.
This was pretty. And he wanted to impress pretty.
"Me too?" disctracted (cough cough) at the new suggestion, Narayan beamed, staring at the red dragon assessingly. Yes. His would be bigger. And meaner. And he could rule the world!
Maybe this one wasn't so bad...
"Want one now thank you please."
"Cool." Kyle responded to the suggestion that they order with a smile, picking up a menu to flip through. He didn't seem overly concerned with watching Earako. She was a responsible young bat, and while he didn't trust the dragon, he also knew she had it under control.
Maidens and unicorns, or something.
Besides, it allowed him to keep his attention on JD, and that was always a plus. He let himself watch the other man, and obviously, taking a moment just to appriciate what he had. What he had to hold onto. And now there was a child. All the better. Isabel could use another playmate. They'd be like a family, almost.
And he needed that.
Needed what he'd lost.
"Yes, pet. Her scales are soft, honest. And smooth." Earako demonstrated her point by running her hand lightly over Vimber, getting a low contented rumble for her trouble. The dragon still kept a wary eye on Narayan, but was willing to be a little distracted.
At the boy's 'request', she giggled, the high breathy sound full of amusement and enthusiasm. "They gotta give you an egg first. But don' worry, you'll get one. Just study hard, and listen to the teachers."
See? She was a good role model!
Study hard? Listen to teachers? What was this? With a sliding glance towards JD, (this was some big gigantic trap, wasn't it? To get him to work hard? Damn, these people were good...) Narayan stepped a little bit closer to the dragon.
Pretty. But scary too.
"Touch?" he asked politedly. He knew better than to piss off things bigger than him... it usually ended up with him getting hurt, one way or another. And he didn't want to get hurt today!
He'd just bought himself a present, and he wanted to wear it while he was still healthy. Looking up with a slight frown, he reached out with his hand. Normally, it'd be the nose.
But he was willing to sacrifice his hand for his nose, in case the big thing decided to eat him up.
Who needed two hands anyways?
For all her willful obliviousness, Earako put a very firm hand on the dragon's shoulder before responding to the young boy's request. Sure, Vimber was a sweet, loveable cuddly dragon. But she was a little... umm... grumpy at times.
Yeah, that was all, sometimes, she got grumpy.
"Of course you can touch. Vimber's a nice dragon." The 'nice' dragon looked between Earako and Narayan before lowering her head and letting the low rumbling growl stop. This one was too young to take her special one away. And if it would please her special one, she'd let him touch her.
Yes.
She could be tricky, she could. She knew her special one wanted to be nice to the little one, though she couldn't imagine why.
She knew her special one gave her shiny things, and that she didn't get them when she made the special one sad.
And biting made her sad.
So she lowered her head, and folded her wings, hiding teeth and pretending to be approachable.
For now, she would be.
Narayan stared at the dragon, wondering if maybe while he wasn't looking, one had replaced the other. This one seemed nicer, and for a moment, he hesitated. It was a trap! It had to be, because it was pretending to be nice and... touchable.
Narayan fell for it.
Reaching out hesitantly, he used his hand, deciding that if he had to have any bit of him bitten off, he would rather prefer to keep his nose. It was more useful than any part of his body.
"Pretty." he crooned, nodding his head. Maybe it'll help him keep his limbs in working order. And besides-- this dragon thing was. It was pretty! And then he beamed at Earako.
"Pretty too." he said, referring to her. She was! Not a very good representation of a boobie yet, but she was getting there. Maybe she'd be more boobie like later.
JD watched, and relaxed. It seemed that maybe his new son could handle people. That was a good thing... right?
The dragon submitted to the touch briefly, before growling a bit and jerking her head back. Even for forms sake, there was only so much Vimber would allow. And that limit had certainly been reached. Still, she made no attempt to snap at the boy, only made it clear that she wouldn't allow anything further.
Stupid Child. She hissed in her native language, knowing full well that neither her special one nor the boy would understand. Soon, she'd know both languages, and that would make everything clearer.
Maybe.
If she ever felt like bothering to learn.
Earako, apparently at least slightly aware of the dragon's shifting moods, stepped between the young boy and the red scaled wyrmling. "You can pet her again next time, ok? And when you have a dragon of your own, they can play together!"
Kyle seemingly amused by the whole production, shook his head. "Quite the flirt you've adopted, JD."
And then, of course, the food arrived, and he had other things to think about.

A break: To the beach! [PRP]Nae types in this color. Tara types in this color.
It was bright and sunny, almost too bright. Aysel skipped alongside her mother, holding hands with her tightly. The two paused at the street. Aysel looked right. All clear. And left, still clear!
The barefoot toddler rushed her mommy across the road, eager to see this 'beach'. She heard the water went alllllll the way out, past what she could see. The idea was silly, it took so much water to fill just the bathtub. There couldn't be that much water in the world.
Slowly the two ****** made their way up the boardwalk, higher than the street level, and stopped. The toddler's coral eyes grew wide with wonder. "'ig.." she said softly, in awe of the sparkling mass of water. Everywhere around them were people, swimming, sunning, playing.
"Come on Aysel. I'll teach you how to swim today," her mom said with a proud little smile. The two set off on to the sand, Aysel hanging back a bit. The toddler yelped with pain as her feet landed on the hot sand. Almost immediately the mage scooped Aysel up, searching for injuries.
"What's wrong? Are you okay??" Bright green eyes searched the luna moth child frantically.
Aysel clung to her mother. "Hooot!!" the little girl whined. With a laugh Tara simply shook her head, and continued onto the beach. The two finally found a nice spot at the edge of the public beach. A rock pier struck out from the street showing the edge between public and private beach.
As Tara set out the blanket, umbrella and beach basket, Aysel stole her mommies shoes and clambered up onto the pier. She took off until water surrounded her and stared fascinated at ocean.
Narayan was smirking as he watched one of his aunts try to manage a large pink tote, her phone, keys to the car and other wierd female nitbits. They were strange, the boobied species of the human race, and so far he decided all they were good at was carrying stuff and smelling really good.
Boobied people were strange.
Testing the edge of the sand, he scowled. The beach had been so pretty, and he hadn't really understood what these people had meant when they had said it was hot. The house was hot too!
But this... this was boiling.
Slipping onto a pair of sandles crudely ornamented for his feet, he looked around.
"Narayan, your sun block!"
His aunt threw it in his directly, and he caught it simply enough-- it was a pathetic throw, and a pathetic catch. But still.
"I'll sit down somewhere... don't go too far, okay?"
Narayan nodded, and made his way towards a bunch of umbrellas.
People!
The umbrella was up, in Tara's color's teal and red. "AYSEL!" the mage shouted. "Aysel! Come on back."
The toddler giggled as she listened to her mommy. She had no intention of getting off the jetty, or heading back. At least until she saw another child head towards the umbrellaed end of the beach. Eagerly she moved to head the other child off. A playmate! Her 'cousin' Alaqua hadn't been able to come. Something about her fur being too hot in the sun.
Her legs moved switftly, and though she wobbled from time to time, surely. "'I!" She chirped waving one arm eagerly as the other three kept her balance.
Tara shook her head in annoyance and started after the toddler. That girl, clingy one moment, and running circles around her the next.
What was _that_?!
Starng with the incredulity of a kid who wasn't quite sure how to react, Narayan nodded. "Spots." he responded, pointing. And then he raised four fingers. Four arms? That was...
Well.
That was scary.
"'Lo." he responded warily, and then grinned. Well. She seemed harmless enough as a freak of nature (anyone without a large nose was considered a freak, really), and she had said hello first. "N'rayan."
And he pointed to himself.
Who knew how smart other creatures were?
Aysel blinked. Spots? Oh! Her lovely spots. The toddler's smile became an outright beam of happiness. He liked her spots! As she got closer the toddler noticed a rather strange thing. The other boy's nose was all long and squiqqly, much like a worm. Moving in closer Aysel was about to poke the thing to see if it was indeed like the worm it resembled when the other boy spoke up again.
"N'rayan," Aysel repeated making sure she got the other boy's name straight. It was better than funny nose, or worm face.
"'m Aysel!" The luna moth said, carefully enunciating her name. "'lay?" She asked quickly, dropping the first sound of the word.
Tara finally caught up with the luna moth child and sighed with irritation. Marching up to the two children the mage dropped a heavy hand on Aysel's shoulder. Startled the toddler looked up. "Aysel. You are to come when I tell you too. Next time follow my directions."
The mage glanced at Narayan, doing a double take before pressing her lips together. "However, I'm glad to see you made a friend. You may play but stay in sight and away from the water. You don't know how to swim yet." No, the mage was not going to say anything. If the child was from D-corp fine. If not, that was fine too. She didn't want to get mixed up even farther.
"Lay?"
Narayan stared. On the sand? On the hot hot sand? He would burn to death, that was sure! Burn, and then his guardian would have...
roasted elephant boy for dinner.
Scrunching his face up, he was about to retort on the ridiculousness of it all when he saw the woman. Oh, play, was it?
...
And no water?
With a grin, (for the girl WAS playful) he nodded his head. "Play?" and reached for her hand. They could sit closer to the water, where the sand was cooler and firmer underneath his wide feet.
And then maybe he could get her into the water too. Just the edges.
The luna moth started guiltily. Oops.. Pitifully she looked up at Tara, eyes wide. She like the beach! She didn't wanna go home. The toddler didn't put so much into words. Already she had learned that whining wouldn't get her very far with her mommy, particularly if she had done something wrong.
Fortunately it didn't seem that big of an infraction. The mage simply warned her and Aysel nodded eagerly in response. "'Kay!" she replied, taking hold of the other childs hand. Eagerly she clapped with her bottom set of arms.
"Wait there a moment," the mage said, zipping back to their blanket and coming straight back with a bucket and some shovels. Handing them to Aysel, the girl grabbed them without letting go of Narayan's hand. "Have fun!" Tara wished the two before heading back to the shade of her umbrella.
Turning to Narayan, Aysel gestured at the beach with her last free hand. "'here?" the toddler asked him.
Narayan stared at the many arms. Wow. So it WAS useful to have more than one pair... more useful than it was to have a large nose, really. Seeing her with new respect, he shook his head.
"Too soft." he responded. Besides, if they needed water (he had made mud castles at home, in the garden. So he liked to think he was an expert. (Actually, Narayan liked to think he was an expert at everything.) ) and the thought of getting up for water every two seconds ... well, upset him.
"Closer?" he asked, motioning to a spot where he would be able to sit on cooler sand. It was darker, prettier, and in his mind, reminded him more of mud. Mud was fun.
Aysel dug in the sand with her mom's oversized shoe. It certainly was soft and squishy underfoot, grains racing to get away from her. But having never been to the beach before, Aysel wasn't quite sure how that was a bad thing. It was fun to walk in, if hot.
The toddler nodded. 'Yan seemed to have been here before so he must know what he was doing. Aysel pondered it for a moment before heading towards the water, oblivious to the boy's neferious intent to get her into the water. "'Kay."
For a moment Aysel hesitated, not wanting to admit her ignorance. Curiousity eventually won out. "'Hat we 'oing?" the Luna Moth asked innocently as they moved to sit on the slightly damp sand.
Narayn frowned. Using his nose to scratch at his mouth as he tried to figure _this_ mystery out, he nodded. They would make sand castles! Maybe it would hold better then mud ones... mud ones went all gross and crackly. Although mud did feel really goot on the skin.
"Castle?" he asked, permission needed since she seemed to hold all the goodies. How that would lead to water he wasn't quite sure yet... hmm. He would wait until that opportunity came about though.
It would have to, eventually.
Digging at the sand and making a small pile, he patted it in a miniature triangle. "Fairy Tale." he frowned, trying to get his point across. JD's sister had bought him books with pictures with towers and pretty scraves handing on the top of the towers. They could build one of those!
Although where they would find a miniature prince and a pincess, he didn't know.
Aysel watched fascinated as Yan scratched his face with his nose. Absently she tried wiggling her own in an imitation of the elephant boy. How cool that he could move his nose like that. With the fascination came again the urge to poke the worm like thing. Aysel giggled. Having a worm on your face must tickle.
"Kay!" she replied, dumping out the bucket of goodies. There were shovels and molds and of course the big bucket. "Airy ale astle," she nodded repeating after the boy. "'ith a ower!" Aysel added.
The luna moth watched as Yan began to make a small pile. Taking the cue from him she dug up a large patch of slightly damp sand and dumped it next to his pile. Aysel frowned as the grains spilled down the side of the pile, still to dry to really stick. Once again the toddler dug up some sand, this time dumping it into the castle mold. Turning the mold upside down Aysel waited eagerly for the first section of the wall to come out.
With a whoosh she pulled the mold away, letting out a dissapointed cry as the spikes crumbled away. Glancing over at Yan she bit her lip, watching how he was doing.
Sitting closer to the water, Narayan looked up, brightening as an idea hit her. "No tower?" he asked almost sympathetically, because it did hurt. They needed to have a beautiful castle. That way one of those princes or princesses could come down, and Narayan could kidnap them and take them home to show off to JD.
Glancing to his side at the water next to him, he nodded his head. "Wa'er helps." he said. After all, he was sitting just slightly closer to the damp sand, and it seemed to hold... well. Kind of. More or less. Sort of.
Eh. It wasn't holding very well either.
Staring at the bucket, and then at her, he tilted his head. "Fill with water?" he queried. Of course he'd try to get her to do it.
Honestly. Boobies were stupid sometimes. How could water hurt the Aysel?
Aysel shook her head sadly as she watched his own tower crumble softly. "Yeah! 'ore 'ater!" Tara was going to have to work with the toddler on her enunciation later. Aysel nodded in agreement with 'Yan as he brilliantly suggested filling the pail with water.
Handing it over with one hand Aysel continued try to get her tower up. The brilliant mind of a toddler followed that since 'Yan suggested it, he would get the honors of testing it.
He had to? Dismay flickered across his features as he continued to stare. Reaching for the pail with his noise (his hands were occupied trying to keep the tower together) he nodded his head. Next time, he would send her. Next time. It would be easier too.
Getting up and watching it crumble, he walked rapidly closer to the ocean, pausing as he smiled at the way the water seemed to curl around his feet. It was nice, if for the half sinking sensation. (literally)
Coming back with a pail sloshing with water, he beamed at her, nodding his head. See? Water could be fun!
And then he was hit with an idea.
He had practiced this at home. Sometimes it went too far up and hurt, but he would be careful, and not overly ambitious. Setting the pail down and swirling his trunk inside, he paused, pulling up a fraction of the water.
And hit Aysel with it, splashing her arms, her chest.
He would get her in it, sooner or later.
A cannon of water spashed into Aysel, a killing blow straight at the chest. For a moment the toddler paused looking down at her clothes in dismay before staring at 'Yan. For another half second, Aysel considered the splash. It didn't last long before she started giggling. Reaching over to the pail she grabbed the bucket and threw the last of the water at 'Yan. Most of it splashed harmlessly to the side, her aim not very good.
Giggles turned into full out laughter as she scrambled up to her feet still clutching the bucket. The luna moth really hoped he wouldn't be mad. After all, 'Yan started it.
Her thoughts brought her full circle to the now empty bucket, completely forgetting about any retaliation her new friend might bring upon them. "Uh oh..." She said, one of the few things that wasn't cut off or slurred.
Had she splashed him back? Rubbing at his beautiful clothing (hmm. Well. There was always more of that somewhere.) he ran closer to the water and shifted for the sea. Not sand. His nose balanced just across the surface, he aimed it at Aysel and let it out.
A torrent of water, really. Except he was having fun, and wasn't paying attention. Head moving in a spin and hoping that some of the water would get the brat, he walked into the ocean until he was up to his knees. The water was cleaner back here. Kind of.
Although the salt did sting.
"Selly." he said smirking. "You have no wa'er."
Aysel ran after him, laughing like a mad man..er..toddler. Stumbling backwards from the second assault of water she wiped her eyes clear, still holding onto her bucket. The girl got just to the edge of the water and frowned.
She danced backwards as the waves licked towards her. Mommy had said not to go in the water.
"Selly!" 'Yan called smirking, "You have no wa'er." Looking up at her new friend the luna moth frowned, not paying attention to the water anymore. Selly? Who was Selly?
"ay SEL ly." he said. The Ay was harder to get his tongue around that normal. He didn't know why, some noises were just difficult to make. Picking up another torrent of water, he splashed her.
And smiled. Honestly. Did that girl listen to _everything_ boobie said to her? That must prove to be very boring. Sure he listened to everything JD said, but JD wasn't a boobie. And Aysel's guardian was.
Just like how he wasn't listening at all to his boobie auntie. She was still a boobie, after all.
"Selly?" he asked, "Aysel?"
Oh! He was talking about her! Selly, it wasn't that bad of a nickname. Her most important considerations of names was cut short by another spash of water. Now thouroghly soaked the luna moth grinned. Checking back at her mommy she found her engrossed in arguing with someone.
Racing forward with the pail she spashed into the ocean, kicking up water everywhere. Digging the pail into the salt water, she threw the water at 'Yan, adding in a spash from her lower arms as well. The laughter started once more as she started the age old splashing game.
Narayan spluttered, trying to get the salt water out of his eyes and out of his mouth. But he was grinning, and he let out something that might have passed as a trumpet of joy-- so what if it was more of a pathetic squeal? Tomorrow, Narayan would blame the water for masking his toughness.
Letting out a yell for joy, he splashed her with his hands, coordinating it with his nose so that it was a constant stream-- still, he would be well matched. He admired her four arms now. How useful it must be!
Not as useful as his nose-- and certainly, not as pretty. But it was close enough.
He didn't have time to feel too proud about getting her in the water yet. He was too focused on getting her wet the first time around, and then trying to get her wetter. Later, later he would try to savour his victory.
The water was fun, not at all dangerous like her mommy had said. The unshakeable belief in the rightness of her mommy was slowly being shaken off it's foundation. Eyes scrunched up against the water, Aysel was immerssed (quite literally) in sending her own stream of water towards 'Yan.
Not far from the shore a speed boat zoomed past, throwing up a large wake. The waves travelled closer and closer to shore, gaining strength as the bottom became shallower and shallower.
Bad things can never stay alone, as Tara finally managed to send the irritating man running away. This was their spot, they were here first and some idiot human couldn't just reserve it. Turning her gaze to the toddlers she found that the two were no longer simply building a sandcastle, but had made their way to the ocean splashing one another.
Tara bit her lip weighing the options. Aysel looked like she was having fun, and Tara could probably wait to go retrieve her. So long as things remained safe.. The moment they moved out too far though.
Narayan giggled. The boat made enough noise that for a moment he looked up, startled and distracted enough that water went up too high, salt burning skin too sensitive right now.
But he was having fun, and that was all that mattered.
Letting out another pathetic trumpet(Soon impatient one. XD ), Narayan splashed her with water, tripping back with the attempt and ending up with only his head above ground.
Well. This was nice too! And the water was so cool compared to the sordid heat.
"Selly!" he said, grinning.
Aysel laughed even harder as 'Yan fell backwards into the water, making him that much of an easier target to hit. It was still fun and games when the wave hit. Though it probably didn't do much to Yan, submerged beneath the water, the wave knocked Aysel off of her feet, rolling her around until it began to tug back out to the ocean, pulling the toddler.
Aysel paniced when the wave knocked her over, not even managing to get a good breath in. Arms flailed frantically as she tried to regain her footing in the ocean as it tumbled her around and around. Quite by accident the toddler got a mouthful of salt water, swallowing part before managing to keep her mouth shut.
"AYSEL!" The shout rang out as Tara jumped from her spot on the beach.
Immediatly Narayan tried to get up. The sand was soft under the sea, but his feet were wide enough that he had more grip than normal. So what if it was a pathetic attempt? It was firmer than on the soft soft sand on the beach, and Narayan, alarmed made his way over, trying just barely to reach her.
But he was short as well, and he didn't know how to swim. Standing hesitantly as deep as he could do without submerging his head, he craned out, reaching for the green form. She was easy to see in the water.
"Selly!" he demanded. Following her. A little deeper, that was fine. His nose helped him breath, after all.
Eyes blinking the salt water away furiously, he craned his head up, reaching out and trying to catch the moving girl.
She was moving so fast!
Tara reached the edge of the water in what seemed to be a blink of an eye. Dipping one hand in she whispered something under her breath.
Aysel finally managed to stop spinning under the water and fight her way upright in the water. Suddenly the water pulled away from her gently, scooping her up with a strange firmness that Aysel knew water wasn't suppose to have.
A drop of sweat rolled down Tara's face as she stared intently at the water, one hand in contact the entire time. At least water was her element, the easiest for her to deal with, and least energy consuming to control without a set spell. A similar bubble formed around Narayan, water racing away from the boy.
Coughing Aysel simply sat on the bubble as it brought her back to land, finally popping when it had settled her down on the shore some ways back from the surf.
Impatiently the water started urging Narayan back to the beach. And the rather angry mage that was standing there.
What was this?! Narayan struggled in the little bubble, struggling until he was safe and normal on sand too hot and too dry compared to what he had been floating in moments before.
An outraged and somewhat startled squeak left his mouth as he stared at Tara, his eyes taking in her stance, her eyes and... he stopped, and the nose curled around itself in self defense.
Struggling to get up, he stood there for a moment, his tail shaking with some apprehension as he looked up. His eyes went to Aysel immediatley, glad to see that he was safe.
Oh. So THAT was why she wasn't allowed to go into the water? Stupid little girl. But she was still kind of fun.
"Too much water." Narayan managed, the words careful and trying very hard not to panic.
But this boobie scared him.
Aysel finally caught her breath after hacking up what felt like an entire ocean of sea water. Her mouth tasted saltly and puckered up in distate. Cautiously she looked over at her mommy and winced at the angry face.
"Moommy!!" She cried, diverting attention back to her. "My 'ault! 'orry!" she cried, tears starting to drip down her face. With a sigh Tara bent and picked her 'daughter' up, carefully cradling her as the toddler sobbed.
"You're allright now. You're okay.." her mommy whispered softly. "I won't let anything hurt you.."
Still sniffling Aysel clung tighter to her mommy. Another sigh escaped from the mage before she stuck her hand out at Narayan. "Come on then," Tara said. "Let's bring you back to your parents. I'm not going to have a toddler wandering loose on my conscience." Amazing how well tears worked to calm a mother's rage.
Narayan felt a shudder of relief creep down his spine. So boobie wasn't angry at him, then? Relieved, happy, and also a little bit apprehensive, (what if this was some gigantic ploy to _pretend_ that she was alright, when in fact she was going to chew his head out?_ the offered hand had him pause.
But he took it.
Reaching out with his nose and sidling it inside the palm, he smiled up at her, blinking cowlish eyes and trying to reassure himself that everything was okay.
Still.
It had been rather fun, getting Aysel into the water. In fact, now that she was safe (she had accepted the blame! What an odd thing to do...) it was easy to say that everything about the incident had been fun. He had to get in trouble more often with this boobie around!
"Pa rents?" he inquired, tilting his head. Oh, right! His own boobie! Nodding his head, he tried to look around. "She pink." he said.
Pink umbrella. Pink one piece. Pink bag. It couldn't be too hard to look. /color]
Aysel still clung to her mommy, surprised she hadn't gotten a talking to yet. She had disobeyed the rules and went in the water and she was never ever ever going to do that again. No way! Sniffling, still shaken from her experience Aysel looked down at 'Yan.
Pink... The one color Tara absolutely hated. Stifling and pastely and pink. Red was fine, color of passion and all that. But pink was for watered down simpering helpless females. And well, Tara was not simpering and certainly not helpless.
"Your mom is pink. Great." Tara turned towards the huge beach surveying the umbrellas. "Well.. Let's go one by one then." Slipping into her now sandy and scuffed shoes Tara set out towards the umbrellas.
Narayan nodded his head. Deciding not to correct this boobie on the fact that he had no mother, (And what a waste. He wanted a boobie to snuggle up too all the time...) he tried to peer for the familiar shade of pastel that he was used to seeing on this one.
This one was his favorite. Looking up at Aysel, he smiled. "Okay?" he asked, a little bit concerned.
He didn't want to be ratted out later, in privacy. "She pink." he said, speaking not to Tara, but to Aysel. Part of him wanted to be held up there too-- but he wasn't willing to push his luck.
What if this boobie said no?
They sand was getting hotter underneath his feet, and his skin was starting to feel a little bit prickly. Maybe it was the shock of sea water and sun, but he didn't like it. Tail flicking with irritation, he yelled.
"JU!"
...
So what if it was a trifle pathetic? It was a start.
Aysel nodded solemnly, face still a little smeared with tears. "Pink pretty," Aysel said quietly. Pink was pretty, but green, the same bright color of her skin was prettier.
The luna moth frowned as her new friend made some sort of sound. It sounded like it hurt whatever it was supposed to be. "'Yan up?" the toddler asked both Yan and her mommy.
Tara sighed and glanced at Narayan. Silly boy didn't have anything on to protect his feet from the sand. Of course his feet would be rather hard to fit... With a shake of her head and smile she knelt down on the sand. Pathetic toddlers were her grand weakness.
Slipping an arm underneath his she picked him up, settling him against her hip before standing up. "Next time, you need to bring some shoes to the beach," the mage said quietly.
Narayan let out a startled squeal of delight as he went up off the ground. Not only was it nicer to look up here, Boobie smelled really good. So he liked it here. Grinning at Aysel, he made a solemn promise to himself to make sure that she didn't get hurt under his watch while he tried to get her to do things she wasn't supposed to do.
Whew. There it was.
Peering out, the vantage helped him figure out the color coordinates of his aunt. Lightly tapping Tara, he pointed off in the general vicinity of... to her right. "Pink!" he exclaimed. It was visible because of the extra adornment of neonness to the plastic covering. He looked over at Aysel, nodding.
See? There it was. He had known all along.
Aysel grinned, good humor not staying away for very long, as 'Yan was also picked up by her mommy. She loved her mommy so much and was happy that she had taken the suggestion.
'Yan pointed out the pink umbrella and Aysel began to pout. He had just gotten up here! "No." The toddler said quietly, knowing her mother wouldn't listen to her but protesting anyway. "'Yan 'tay! C'ome H'ome 'ith us?"
Tara shook her head as she headed towards the pink -pink- umbrella. "No Aysel, he can't come home with us. Maybe we can invite him over later though." Thank goodness it wasn't too far. Carrying two toddlers was hard. At least she would have stronger upper arms after this.
Stopping in front of the umbrella and the other pink accessories, Tara smiled politely. "Hello?"
Go home? With this one? Tilting his head considering and wondering if that would mean he would get a new room and new toys, he paused. "Selly come home with me?" he propositioned, beaming. Damn, he was good!
"And then I said that she said that... hello? Listen. Let me call you back. Somenes bumping my umbrella and... oh! Narayan! What are you..." blinking her eyes, she peeked out from under, and frowned. "Did he cause you trouble? Did he?" she demanded.
Sleek, asian and pink from the tip of her flowered flip flops to the little lace cap, she got up, hovering slightly and uncertainly as she offered a hand.
"I'm sorry. JD. He spoils that kid and encourages misbehavior... I'm his aunt. But thank goodness he's not biological, or that would make me old. And is this your daughter? Huh... what is her father that she looks like that? Or are you..." she stopped, blinking.
Narayan smiled. Ah. The sweet sound of ditziness. "Selly." he said promptly. "Auntie."
Aysel looked up at her mom hopefully. If 'Yan coldn't come home with her maybe she could go home with him and play. Tara shook her head, while Aysel's good mood and short memory might have avoided the fact that she was in trouble, Tara had not forgotten.
The luna moth's face feel and she shook her head mournfully at 'Yan. "'Aybe 'ater," she said quietly, repeating her mom's answer from before. A pout turned to sniffles as Tara gently lowered Narayan down, setting his feet on top of her own (a little more abuse to them wouldn't matter).
With a frown Tara set Aysel down next to Narayan, and almost immediately the pout dissapeared. "Narayan? He's been fine. We simply have to return home and I'd rather he not get lost." Struggling to hold onto some semblence of polite disinterenst rather than disklike, Tara surveyed the boy's aunt. Pink..Frilly...and aparantely an idiot. Tara tacked on the last assesment as the woman babbled on and on, insulting not only Tara but the woman's own brother and nephew as well.
"I don't see how Narayan has been spoiled, any one would be honored to be related to such a boy regardless of age. As for Aysel's parantange I don't see how that is any of your buisness. It is impertinant, rude and downright foolish to let your tounge run away with you." Tara had to clamp her mouth down shut on the rest of her words, reminding herself sharply the consequences of letting things slip. It got her Aysel didn't it? Okay...bad example...
Aysel watched the exchange with wide eyes, ignoring most of the words she didn't quite understand. Glancing over at 'Yan she was surprised to see him smiling. "Selly, Auntie."
Smiling her own smile, Aysel braved interupting the grown-ups. With a wave, she offered, "'Ello, 'Yan's 'untie!" Maybe they'd stop being so mad with each other now.
Narayan nodded, question already forgotten. He'd get her over later. And then maybe he could get her to do more stuff she wasn't supposed to do! Decidedly happy with _that_ plan, he smiled.
His aunt, on the other hand, was still oblivious. "Is it?" she asked, fascinated. "I am rude, aren't I? Well. I think someone who points that out is ruder." working on child logic, she nodded her head. "I'm curious. So is she adopted too? From what? My brother recieved Narayan from GCorp... hmm... JCorp? Some corporation." with a flick of the hand that signified that it wans't REALLY important, she nodded her head.
"Well. Even if you have to go, they should meet up again. You're her age, aren't you Narayan?" shrugging, she nodded. "Let me give you our address... and you can give me yours too!" Delighted with this plan, she looked down, momentarily distracted by the greeting.
'And aren't you cuuuute!" she cooed. "No wonder Narayan likes you."
His aunt, was causing no end of a headache. It was one thing to chide someone on their rudeness. It was another to drill it into their skull with a rather large sledgehammer. And personally, Tara would much rather avoid that.
Craning her head from side to side, streching tense neck muscles, Tara closed her eyes choosing to follow the simpler path and let it slide. "She is my daughter," came the polite, if irritated response.
Nod and smile. The mage simply agreed, "Of course. I don't have a pen or paper on me though."
Aysel beamed, as the woman bent down to coo at her, posing slightly. "'m Aysel!" she announced to the woman, taking a liking to anyone that called her cute. "'Yan go 'ome 'ow?" the luna moth continued.
The aunt beamed. "It's okay! I'm sure I have some somewhere. You know what they say, you can never be too prepared... hmm. I think." bending back down and rummaging into a bag, she pulled out a neat leather notebook.
And a fluffy pink pen.
Opening it up to the middle, she scrawled down an address almost legible, and numbers that was a little bit more so. "Now, that's 56, not 65, okay?" she said, handing the paper and everything over.
Distracted, she nodded a little bit more. "I think Narry should, sweetheart. He's looking a little bit pink..." she frowned. "I might have to stop by the chemist, or something. Do elephants get sun burned?"
Such a deep, philosophical question.
At the sound of leaving, Narayan looked solemnly at Aysel. "Visit?"
Tara accepted the notebook, tearing out the page. With a look of ill-concealed disgust the woman took the pink...fluffy...pen.. and quickly wrote down their address as well, thrusting it back at Narayan's aunt. "All right Aysel. Say good bye to Narayan. We'll stay in touch."
Well, if it was time to go than it was time to go. Aysel nodded solemnly at 'Yan. "'kay!" The little girl then leaned fowarward and gave her new friend an awkward hug and kiss on the cheek. "Bye bye!!"
With a wave the two left. As they drifted out of earshot the faint sounds of a calm scolding started.

Narayan is... peeling.
“Are you working on your letters again?” JD asked Narayan, stopping in front of the boy as he tried to figure out the last two. “Why is the kangaroo red?”
The boy looked up. “Yummy.” He said, nodding his head.
Oh, right.
The night before, they had gone to a rather unusual restaurant… maybe he hadn’t been such a good idea feeding the boy kangaroo meat? Well. It was too late now.
“Okay.” The man knelt down, feeling the boy shift slightly to make more room—and get more light. “And the heart?”
“I love you.” Narayan said, pausing to look up at the man with dark eyes. JD smiled back just as easily- his son was the best, really.
And then stopped.
Green? Wait a minute. What else was green?
“Money.”

Narayan stopped, pushing the piece of paper across smooth wooden floor so that the colors wouldn’t drip, and then pulled out the other one. His nose seemed to work the best when it came to painting—and writing. But JD liked it when he used his hands, so his hands it was.
Staring at the paper, he stopped, scratching at his skin. He had come back from the beach yesterday—and while they had put something on his skin to cool it down, it still hurt… he was blotchy, and peeling in places too.
“Does it bother you too much?” JD asked, noticing the way the boy scratched at his shoulder with his nose. His ski had taken an odd speckled shade. “I’ll take you to the pharmacist to pick something up after, okay?”
Narayan nodded.
Leaving the moon uncolored, he moved on to pick up yellow (yellow seemed to be his favorite color).
“What about M, Narayan?” JD asked. He wanted his son to do this perfectly… he was a genius. He had to be.
“Swhite.” He responded, not looking up.
The boy was focused on his task. But he wasn’t very sure about the last one. What the…
“Purple?” JD offered. Purple paint seemed hardly touched, and JD wanted the boy to use the entire paint set up before buying him a new one… the man was generous with his money, but there was a point.
Narayan nodded. “Purple.” It reminded him of a toy he had seen in a shop. Maybe he would ask JD to buy it for him today.

The boy stopped, scratching again. He grimaced when a large piece of skin fell off… his beauty! It was all falling to pieces. Now he looked like an ordinary… person.
And this was getting so boring.
Remembering the penguins, Narayan slapped on the black water color and then stared, entranced. Wow. Black was really effective, huh?
Coloring the Q his second favorite shade and the animal into his favorite food color (steak, potatoes, and quail all came in brown), the boy smiled.
Road?
Black again! Slapping it on, he had to smother a giggle.
Black was really useful.
Jd stared at the mess and sighed.
"Let's continue this another day, huh?"

Off to the pharmacist! [PRP]Nae is in this color. Pi is in this color.
The fact that the day was sunny didn't really help matters. Narayan was upset, and his skin stung even more.
"If you had put on your sunblock properly." JD began again, and the elephant scowled.
Did his father think that he was helping anything? Well. The boy new better than to forget again. Never, ever again.
Stepping out of the car in front of the pharmacy, he looked up, grimacing. Hopefully someone in there would have the cure to his skin problem. Something to make him beautiful again.
The beach, had been worth it. He had loved the sun, the sand and the water. But vanity won over anything else, and as he scuffed his foot at the entrance, he looked back with another scowl.
Someone better have answers.
Lucía goes skated quickly by the sidewalk of the street continued by an exasperated Pi, "I said you that dont skate so quickly" Pi scream to her daugther. Lucía is given the turn and she skates turned more slowly while answered to her mother " But mom the pharmacy is there you need a skates too" she giggle and wait for her mom. Once reached Lucía, Pi enters with her to the pharmacy.
The giggle had Narayan look up, turning to see the two new people. His eyes looked over both with interest. Boobie and a girl on wheels! Her marks were quite pretty, and deciding that although she wasn't gorgeous (she didn't have the nose to be considered gorgeous), she was good enough.
More than, really.
"Hello." he called out, lounging a little bit behind his father. She had wheels on her feet too, something his eyes stared at with interest. Because his own feet were rather... well, big, he had something similar to a shoe and feet fetish.
Anyone with 'normal feet', excited him. They were so strange and pretty to look at!
Lucía enters with her mother to the pharmacy and she listens a shy Hello, then she sees a very strange boy, he has big ears and a very long and flexible nose. he was next to a normal man as her mother, any animal characteristic, too normal for catch her curiosity, she ignores him and she centers her attention to the boy.
" hello boy, cool nose" she says while she skates around the boy, then she realizes that the boy looks with fascination her skates and she smiles " you like my sketes, are cool rigth" she smile and wink.
Narayan started when she spoke to him. Well, she spoke, did she? He grinned at the compliment. Damn right, his nose was something to be envious about! Deciding that she was much prettier than he had first thought (ah, the sway compliments had on the boy) he nodded his head.
"You don't fall?" he asked, curious. They looked kind of painful, really. He liked his feet... for practical reasons. The wheels seemed demonic. How did someone stay up straight in something like that, and skate i somewhere like this?
JD smiled, noting the exchange. "Hello." he said to Pi, offering his head. "My name is JD. It seems our children have good taste."

Progress is... made? [Journal]
To whom it may concern,
Narayan seems to be coming along nicely. He is confident, strong and while he is impatient at times, he gets done what he needs to get done. Recently he’s been exposed to too much sun— do you think you have elephant sunscreen lying around? SPF 50 seems to be too harsh for his skin, but any lower, and he still burns. He loves the outdoors however, which proves to be kind of… compromising.
Narayan has been getting along well with his work. He does seem to be very impatient, and with no obvious goal in mind (no gift, no first place status) he is unwilling to give everything he has. We’ve discovered that he is much more at ease in using his nose for drawing and writing. But I’m trying to get him to use his hands. Ambidextrous?
He thinks too logically. That is to say—he seems to love money, and anything that speaks of charity garners no attention from this one.
I am so proud of the boy.
Here is the rest of his alphabet.

The boy is rather taken with the idea of black and white. Hence water is 'white', and the lab tech are... black. I'm not quite sure I understand this, however.
Narayan has asked me what the point is in coloring in the zebra-- they are black and white anyways. Because of the variety of animals used, he seems to be more interested in meeting others like himself.
The numbers will be sent via Narayan shortly. Hopefully.

Strangers in public Nae types in this color. Tao types in this color.
It was a nice day outside. Hot, sunny with the occasional cool breeze that seemed to make everything worth it. But Narayan didn't care. After the last sun exposure incident, he decided he preferred the indoors. Aircon. Stupid background music that they pumped in shops like adrenalin.
And above all that, clothes.
Yes, Narayan had a clothes fetish.
"Narayan, help the driver take the bags to the car." JD said, grinning as he exchanged a playful glance with one of the staff. "I'll pay for it."
The boy brightened immediatly. He loved shopping, buying new stuff, the new bags that they came in and the weight, the immense joy of trying it on again, at home, in the privacy of his own room. He loved the smell of new stuff, the way sales people seemed to be so eager to please. He loved all of it.
Stepping out of the store and towards the car, he hefted a package closer to him. Most of the packages were birthday presents to other people, gifts, necesities. But it was still fun.
Laial hated shopping. It was boring, Maji never let him wander off on his own, and he wasn’t allowed to bring Heiko into stores either. Not fun. Maji insisted, however, on taking him grocery shopping, to have him see different foods and to help carry things.
Yes…Maji didn’t own a car. She hated the things, and never bothered to get her license when she was…what age was it? Whatever, not like it mattered anymore. …It was too bright out. Too bright out made her violent and moody. Well, more violent urges than really doing anything. It was quite similar to PMS, actually.
Laial shrank his ‘pupils’ to better see in the sun. This also allowed him to see the rather strange gray child putting away bags. Wait…he was gray, this child gray. That at least was of some importance to Laial. And it gave him a valid excuse to get away from the evil hissy b***h (read: Maji). So he walked over to investigate.
Placing the rest of the bags down, he blinked. His arms hurt. How dare JD expect the boy to carry more than one item? This had to count as child abuse, really. Stretching, (shopping was tiring work!) he looked around, and stopped.
What the HELL was that thing walking towards him?
Wary eyes. It looked dangerous. And it was kind of strange. Worse of all, it didn't have any boobs. Ticking it off his mental things to do list, he walked closer too.
Maybe it was poisnous, or crazy or something. The extra hanging thingies looked kind of cool. Maybe they were extra arms? Like his nose! Yes. That would be good. Pity it wasn't the real thing.
But he could live with that.
"Whatre you?"
Laial stopped at the sight of the child's hostility. Hmmmm... his mouth formed into a Cheshire Cat grin, the kind that read: I'm a nice person...come closer. Up close, the boy looked younger; he was almost as tall as Laial! But he didn't have a dragon with him yet... he probably had an egg though...right?
He did have very big ears and a long nose. Where had he sen an animal with such things...? Oh right, on an elephent. "You're an elephent." It wasn't a question. Laial's tentecles dropped to the ground and didn't move anymore.
"I'm a me."
Deciding that close up the tentacles were vaguely perverted, he assessed the youth with critical toddler eyes. Well. He looked pretty cool. And what was that thing on his back? It looked heavy. Was it expensive?
His eyes brightened. Turtles had shells too, and Narayan had a vague memory of when his father had told him turtle shelled glasses were expensive. Deciding that this boy was carrying a fortune on his back, Narayan tried to circle him, looking.
Hmm. Hmm.
"Hello me." he responded, friendlier. It wouldn't do to not make friends with someone expensive. Hey! Maybe the boy shedded? He had seen the movie on snakes, and snakes shedded.
"'s it heavy?"
"Hello Elephant." He didn't have a name, anyway.
That question always seemed to pop up, didn't it? Why would a giant thing on his back that was as big as him be light? "Well, how much do you weigh?"
He gave assessing others when he realized almost everyone had two arms.
Elephant was a good title, really. Narayan especially liked it when JD showed him pictures of the ones that were all dressed up, with paint and jewels. Hmmm. Maybe he was like one of those elephants.
Slightly distracted by his own fantasy of dressing up, he almost missed the next question.
"Weigh?" Narayan blinked. "Not much." he said, frowning. His father could carry him fine, and so could his aunt. And his aunt was pathetic. So he couldn't be that heavy. The boy looked up, considering. Had a boobie asked, he would have gone for a hug.
Maybe that was what this one wanted too!
"Hug?" he asked. Maybe this was what the boy with many noses wanted. He wasn't pretty enough, but Narayan could adapt.
Laial would have smiled. Wait...what?! "Uh...no." Exactly what was this strange child thinking?!
Maji finally noticed that Laial was not next to her. She shuffled to where he was, seeming to emit a very dark aura as she walked. A dog stepped out of her way
So he didn't want a hug, then? Sighing and slightly upset that this man had tried to lead him on, he looked around, searching for something... ahah! What was this?
A boobie was walking in his direction! With a quick glance towards the boy with the shell, he smiled. "I Narayan." he said, introducing himself.
If this boobie belonged to this one. Maybe it would be good to be friends.

1 + 2 = 12
Narayan looked up, wondering when JD would coming home from work. ‘Work,’, because the man seemed to always be going out at night in pretty clothing, coming back in the morning with a slurred voice and eyes that were turning red. What his father did for a living Narayan didn’t understand- but it didn’t really matter. Really.
Tonight, Narayan couldn’t sleep. He couldn’t organize the thoughts that were trying to invade his mind and so he focused on his work instead, partially because there was nothing to do, and partially because he knew that if he finished his work, maybe his father would give him something nice as a present.
Narayan adored presents.
Getting up and moving to the vanity, he moved with a silence that comes only from habit. The wood was strong, smooth, but by now Narayan knew the patches that would squeak, the edges that would tremble if he put his feet on it.
His feet.
With a rueful glance, Narayan took in the large feet before sitting down in front of the desk. It was better not to think about it, really. Paper. Work. He should be focusing on the important stuff!
And presents.
Pulling out the white piece of paper and his water color set, he continued to stare. The words, the letters—he wasn’t very good at understanding all of this. Talking was different, but when it came to scribbles, and counting… with a disgusted sigh, Narayan picked up his glass of water, using it as a substitute.
JD had promised the work would get easier, and it did! But whenever he got used to it, his teacher always gave him harder work. It was a brutal, brutal cycle.
Reaching for his brush and swirling it in the water, he chose some deep greens. Green. That was a nice color to work with.
Colors were beautiful at night, when they didn’t seem to bright. Using them systematically (so what if it didn’t match up? Imagination!), he stared. And now he needed.
White and black.
Black and white.
Satisfied, he nodded.
Yes. Finished.

Rules? What rules? Nae types in this color. Nev types in this color.
Squeak.. squeak.. squeak.. There was a tiny, thin sound emitting from the duo that walked down the glossy hallway. "Roule! Gosh, your shoes are so irritating. I think I should have brought your sandals." hissed Nev, glaring at the boy's shoes, which had bright red lights flashing from the soles. She sighed in exasperation, and turned around to one painting, named L'Accordéoniste - Picasso.
"See! Isn't that a beautiful piece, mia vita?" She chuckled at the boy's inquisite expression, which soon turned into a mix of confusion and frustration.
"It don't look like anyting Ma.." he replied in a whiny voice, attempting to glare daggers at the painting. It was just a buncha scribbles! He himself could do much better than this.. Maybe he should give something to the 'ar garery' as Ma had called it.. If this was here, this bunch of doodles, he could make it in no problem!
Nev scowled and hugged him closer to peer at the painting. "No no, can you see anything in the painting? At all? The artist designed so that people see different things in this painting!"
"..uh.. I see.. a snakey!" He replied, smiling at the thin wisp of colour emitting from the two triangular figures. It still looked like a bunch of shapes and doodles though..
Peering at a small plaque underneath the image, it read: Quote: Please do not touch the above image.
Uweh? Don't touch? Why? Pondered the Boy, staring up at the massive painting
Narayan followed closely and silently behind JD, wearing the appropriate expression of mild interest that his father approved of. Some of the paintings were indeed beautiful, but he found the place frustrating and annoying. What was the point of gazing at beautiful art, if you could not own it?
A gallery, in Narayan's mind, was a frightful teaste that left the viewer unsatisfied and alone, more and more angry at the fact that what he wanted couldn't be own. Not the original, at any rate.
And JD had told him that fakes were unacceptable in feal life.
"And this." JD said quietly, pointing at the painting. "Is by Picasso. Remember the other piece you've seen?"
The elephant boy nodded. Actually he didn't, but he remembered seeing something like this before. Hey, he could draw like that too! Sort of. Not as complicated, but it looked stupid.
"Yes, father." he repeated, his gaze distracted by another couple. The boy looked strange. Too furry really, but fun too. Deciding that this was much more interesting than any stupid painting, he sidled closer.
"Pretty."
Roule turned to the voice, to be met with a large trunk in his face. "UWEH!" He squeaked before almost toppling onto the ground. Giving a large scowl before getting up as Nev spun around and flinched.
"Awww," cooed the girl and as she looked at the elephant boy opposite her. "heya. Sorry for that, Roule's a bit jumpy." She smiled and nudged Roule who was dusting himself off, looked away and pursed his lips.
"Am not..." he muttered before turning back to Nara. "You weird." he retorted, as it was the first thing that came to mind before gesturing to his trunk, "is dat heavy as well? I met som oder guy who had a heavy ting too.." The weasel's voice was slightly slurred, with a slight lisp. It didn't work well with his scowl.
A BOOBIE! Narayan couldn't believe his luck. She was young too, which meant that she probably smelled better than the old ones. Beaming, he decided that he could look over the choice of clothing with a shy smile. He liked these people. They were so soft and nice to look at.
"Hello." he said cheekily, a smile on his face that was partially hidden by the trunk. Maybe she would give him a hug? Oooh. That would be nice. How come he hadn't met many other boobies until now? Well... one other, but she had been accompanied by a girl in skates. And skates were awesome.
"Heavy?" he asked, frowning. His nose arched a bit as if trying to get it's bearings. "No." he said. "Is that heavy?" he pointed to the tail. And the ears. And then the second bit hit him. Hmm. Heavy thing?
Narayan thought he might have an idea who this one was talking about.
JD looked over then. But only because he had realized he was talking to himself. "Narayan." he said, frowning as he walked over. "I'm sorry. Is he bothering you?"
Nev waved back ethusiastically. Another kid, just her luck! Roule needed more friends anyways. She straightened up to look at JD and shook her head. "Nah, Narayan's just chatting. I wish ROULE," she nudged the weasel boy again, who grunted in response, "would talk a bit more."
Roule put on a frowny face before looking over the elephant boy. "Nnhm.. hi." He said sheepishly, looking down. He hated this socializing stuff! It didn't work at all. Shaking his head he responded quietly, "No really.. They very light!"
With that, he shook his tail energetically and gave a small grin. How could his tail be heavy! He hoped it didn't grow any heavier otherwise he wouldn't be able to lift it. Looking again at Nara's trunk, Roule pondered on the boy's answer. "But it look heavy. You're funny looking, just like dat other guy.."
Nev pursed her lips and nudged him again. "Don't be rude Roule, you need more friends!"
Look, this woman seemed happy to have her here! Beaming at her, he turned back to the boy. Well, he was kind of pretty too. Although unless one day he would magically turn out with boobs, he wouldn't be as pretty.
"Wierd?" he asked, confused. Now what was wrong with this boys taste? He was damn handsome. It was the rest of the species without the extra nose and ears that were... well, ugly. "Narayan." he said. That was one word he could pronounce well. "I'm handsome."
Hansemm. It was a good word. JD didn't like to use it, but he had heard his aunt used it and liked it. One of these days the boy was going to change his name to Hansemm elephant. Then the world would know what he was!
All but batting his eyes at Nev. he smiled. "I be friends!" he exclaimed.
JD grimaced. Nev giggled slightly. Ahh, what a cute kid. She looked at JD, "Awww, Nara's so cute! You're so lucky to have a kid like him."
Roule looked at his nails before replying. He looked over Nara again and put on a curious face. "Hansem? Ma, wuzzat?" He looked back to the girl. She grinned and winked at her boy. "Oh hmm, it means that he looks good. I believe I concur with that statement."
Roule considered it for a few seconds. "Hansem.. You hansem and Roule hansem! I likey this word." He repeated it a few more times before stopping and pausing and looking up at JD. "Who he?" He asked to the elephant.
Roule watched him intently, looking around the man and his son.
She liked him, did she? Deciding that he was one step closer to getting that hug, he beamed back. The boy was fun too. Thank goodness he wasn't some quit witted sharp tongued shell carrying boy. Hmm. Wait. Narayan knew someone like that!
With an assessing eye, Narayan looked the weasal over. Actually, he was, kind of. Narayan could understand why people would go for him. Hmm. With him, maybe Narayan would attract more attention.
"Hansem." he sad, agreeing. "He?" Narayan looked back at his father. He was... well. He was. "Jay Dee." See? He knew his alphabet.
Sort of.
"Daddee?" kind of. He didn't seem to like being called daddy too much, though.
JD nodded, brisk. "My name is JD. Narayan is my son, and thank you." he grinned, proud. "Roule isn't so bad." part animal too, was he? How... interesting. "I'm still learning the ropes with this one." he said, grinning. "He. We... we're not biological." hmmm. Hopefully that came out the right way. Nev gave a wolfish grin. "Well, Roule doesn't really take after me either. I think he's part.. weasel? Perfect match I say! I mean, honestly, where did he learn to frown like that?!"
Roule stopped and looked at her, eyes wide. He blew a raspberry and turned back to Nara. "Uhh.. I'm Roulette.. or Roule.. or someting." Nodding and looking up, Roule thought about the man's name. Jaydee? Fun to say. Daddy? Why wasn't Ma a daddy? He couldn't figure it out.
"Ma, why aren't you a daddy?" He asked quizzically, turning back to the girl. She blinked at the question. "Why.. aren't I a daddy? Uhh, 'cause I'm a girl. And girls can only be Ma's."
The weasel didn't really get that. Afterall, he didn't really see too much of a line between a girl and boy. Ma kept telling him that anyways. Nodding towards Nara, he smiled slightly in approval. He looked interesting at least. Other people were boring or mean, or both!
"Um.. why you guys here? Likey shapes too?" Roule pointed the Picasso 'doodle' and frowned. "I don't likey the shapes..
So all Ma's looked like her, did she? All Ma's were boobies. Hmm. He turned to JD with just as quizzical a question. "I want Ma." he said, frowning. Demanding. Because, as nice as his aunts were... well. Maybe having his very own Ma would mean he would get more hugs. Among other stuff.
JD smirked. A mother, was it? They'd see how Kyle would feel about dressing up as a woman for the both of them. Hmm. Kinky. "Weasel?" he asked, interested. "How is it that you're rearing him?" he blinked, wondering if it was too rude.
Well, it was already out in the open. "Narayan was almost foistered upon me." he said. "But, it's been good." now that he had given information out, maybe she would too.
Narayan nodded. "Ugly." he said, frowning. Looking at the other side of the room, he pointed at a painting. That one, the one with the grapes was kind of pretty. And see? Pointing to the one next to the picasso, he tilted his head. This one had a woman in it, in purple.
Grapes and purple went together more than this ugly piece.
"Wrong order." Narayan said, fitting the words around his mouth. It was in the wrong order. Roule grinned, "Well I want Ma to be Daddy.. I don like Ma.." he squeaked as Nev glared at him. She smiled and shrugged softly, "Weasel he is. Haha. Both metaphorically and literally too." Nev gave another grin, "Aww? Nara's too cute though. I requested Roule from the DCORP guys, but they obviously didn't include the sweet, sensitive part of the child trait." Nev turned to the painting that Nara was pointing to.
"Well it depends.. Some people won't like it, but some will. Can you see anything in the painting?" Roule sighed and nudged his mom aside to stand next to Nara. "Ya.. see Ma, he says ugly too." His burgundy eyes cast over the painting, looking for more interesting shapes. It was just a bunch of trianguls.. and skuars.. Not pretty at all."
Nev sighed, grunting slightly. "What painting do you want to see then, mia vita?" The weasel flushed and glared at the girl. "Don.. call me dat! Peepul.."
Giving a glance to the next painting, Roule frowned even further. "That not nice looking either.. Ma.. I don't like pictures.. I draw better.."
Mia vita? Was that his name, or something? Giving the boy a curious look, Narayan blinked. Maybe it was his name.
"D-Corp?" JD asked, blinking. He let out a short laugh. "Same here. That is, Narayan is a..." he frowned. He had met a few parents so far, but this was a first to find one similar to Narayan in age. "It is delightful to meet you." he said, one again for more emphasis. Because it was true.
Maybe Narayan would meet more children more his age, than the other stranger ones. And besides. This one was a boy. Narayan needed more male friends.
Narayan grinned at the question. Leaning towards mia vita, he tilted his head. One of these things don't belong with the other. He knew that song! Humming it lightly, Narayan pointed out the two paintings.
"Mivita." he said. "Those two?" They belonged together. And no one else was doing anything about it.
So maybe they should. Nev nodded. "Believe me, it's awesome to meet you too. I haven't met too many parents or kids. Been busy.." She shook her head and went to look at the newest painting the kids were picking apart.
Yes! Roule was finally getting friends. He was such a little loner, at such a young age too. Probably the frown, she thought, it probably drives everyone off.
Chuckling at the thought, she went over and looked at the painting. "Geez.." she murmured quietly.
Roule looked a takenback. "Don call me tat.. Ma calls it all the time and itz weird.." He put on a pout. "She tol me it mins my life in.. uh.." "Italian." said Nev, guffawing inside. "Aa.. And it's em..baruzing.." The weasel spat out the word before turning to Nara. "Uhh my.. name's Roule." He nodded, "not meeavida.."
"Two?" Roule looked up, confusion glassing his eyes, focusing on the new subject. He didn't get all this artsy stuff. Maybe he just wasn't that sort of person. Gee.
JD grinned. "We need to get together more often." he said, nodding his head.
Well, it had sounded like a boobie name anyways. Narayan shrugged, nodding his head. "Rool." he said. "They don't belong." had the boy not watched that sesame street game before? "That one." he said, pointing to picasso. "Needs to be _there_." he repointed to the one on the other side. "That one, needs to be here."
He sounded just like JD, when he pretended to know what he was talking about. Narayan looked at Roule expectantly. Well, wasn't the weasal going to do something about it?
They needed to, for the sake of mankind... or something. Nev nodded, giving a warm look to JD and Nara.
Roule watched his fingers point to different directions. "Uweh? I don get it.." He paused, scanning the painting. Then giving an indifferent shrug, the boy went behind the elephant and looked from his stand-point.
"..Don get it. Ecskplane Nara." He repeated to the elephant. Why did they have to move? Why were they out of order? That was wierd too. He cocked his head, strands of blonde falling to the side and looked at it sideways, but giggled. The grapes looked like a big hair! And the lady looked weird.. But she always looked weird.
Though.. in that other picture.. The shapes looked like they were falling sideways! Wow! His head was lopsided for a few minutes, considering each shape and line in the painting. Ma was right! It was interesting afterall.
Narayan got distracted by the way his head seemed to move. Well, Rool was certainly more interesting to watch than anything else! Grinning, he nodded.
"You move that one." he said, pointing to the one closest to them. "I move that one!" he said, pointing to the one far away. "All good then." he nodded, confident, self assured.
THIS, was what he was supposed to do here, at the gallery. Why else would JD bring him all the way over? To look at paintings he couldn't buy? No. It was a test to see if Narayan had brains! And he certainly had brains. Certainly.
"Rool?" he asked.
Maybe the boy would find the painting too heavy.
JD chuckled, not hearing the words murmured by his son. "So, how long have you had Roule?" he asked. "Have you done the alphabet thing" he asked wryly. Narayan hadn't liked that at all.
"Uweh.. I.. get.. it." He replied, staring up at the massive painting. Did Nara really want to move it? Like, over there? The boy's eyes were huge as he watched the elephant boy gesture all over the place. "Can you really move it that far?" He asked, eyes wide. Nara had to be way way strong then! But.. he was an elephant (not green, but whatever.) and he should be strong.
Nev chuckled, "Hmm.. 2 months?" She pondered on the date. April? Yea, sometime in April. "Yess, wow that was a pain. In order to get him to do the sheets, I had to reward him with something or another. Otherwise he'd resort to not doing anything and ruining my pots banging on them."
Narayan beamed. "Uh huh!" he said, nodding. Alright. So it'll be more about pushing it onto the ground and dragging it, but hey. Transportation was transportation. With a considering gaze, he decided that maybe Roule couldn't handle the burden alone. "I help." he said, nodding. Yes. He would help... with this one.
Walking over, he slippd under the barricade and motioned for Roule to follow. Now. If they somehow tilted it, maybe it would fall. It was low enough to reach on tip toes.
Hmmm....
JD nodded, glad to see that someone else had resorted to bribery as well. "New watercolor set, and toys, if he didn't want to color in a letter." he frowned, shaking his head He was still a good parent, right? Well. He was assuming Nev was.
"Pots and pans?" he enquired.

“Narayan?” JD walked into the boy’s bedroom to see him look up from where he had been carefully coloring in a picture book.
“Ah?” he asked, nose curling as he spotted the form. “Me?” he asked. JD nodded, and at that, the boy got up, oddly placated these days with what had happened before. It seemed he had learnt his lesson—and was vainly trying to get back on JD’s good side.
So that he could cause more trouble later.
Sitting down on the worn wooden floor, JD pulled the small table closer towards them, tensing as the water sloshed. Narayan was still being such a perfectionist, and with a frown, he tried to make sure that the water didn’t go everywhere.
Narayan always had a habit of throwing away defiled books and asking for a new one, whenever something like that happened.
“Alright, kid.” Handing over a pen, he nodded. “I’m only supposed to watch. I can’t help out, not really.”
Narayan shrugged. More attention for him, he supposed. Staring at the paper, he wrote in his answers.
JD hesitated. “Narayan? I don’t think money counts as a color.” He didn’t want anyone to think that his son was some kind of delinquent. Not yet.
“JD?” the boy asked, staring thoughtfully at the last question. “Whats friend?”
JD frowned. “Someone you like spending time with. Someone you enjoy being around, who you like.”
Narayan paused, frowning as he tried to figure that one out, and nodded. “Okay.”
JD paused, staring at the way Narayan filled out the last question, and frowned. Maybe it was time he had a talk with his son. Or introduced him to more people.
Certainly his answer couldn't be healthy.

Sending it back, JD attached a note. JD As requested, some changes and notes on Narayan. Appearance: He has grown out his hair a little bit so that it touches his shoulder, and I've taken him to the salon to tidy it up a bit. It lies sleekly now, instead of looking so rough around the edges. He still wears it in tiny braids, however. Clothing wise, he's taken to much more expensive material. Shorts that fall around the knees and similar vests, I've replaced the... filfth he arrived in with silks in greys and browns, neutral colors. Narayan's taste can be seen in the jewel tones that embroider the silk, and while it isn't tacky... hopefully, I'll manage to teach the boy some taste. Narayan rarely, if ever wears shoes of any kind. Jewellry is not so high on his list either. Yet. Personality: Narayan has a weakness for women that is quite alarming. He likes being near them just as much as other boys and girls, but he can grow quite dense when it comes to getting them to like _him_. He's a trouble maker this one is, impatient and very rarely manages to sit down. Although he does seem to be somewhat talented in art, it is only because he seems quite... alright. Because he's quite stupid in his other subjects. I have to bribe him half the time to complete his work, which means that he has grown quite keen when it comes to negotiation and getting his own way. Narayan isn't a bully. He's actually on the softer side, and I'm sensing a growing vanity in him that doesn't seem healthy. He takes care with his appearance and likes to be admired, and admires people jsut as much. Notes: Narayan has a habit of using his nose instead of his hands when it comes to acts that require control. Shaking hands, writing, drawing and sometimes unlocking doors is all done with the thing that he's supposed to breath with. I'm a bit worried that he might grow a bit too reliant on that organ.
