When I got the PS2 for the first time, my mom bought this game as a "well, I hope she likes it", kinda game. This was probably my first RPG realisticly. I just loved the storyline and all of the characters. They were all different in their own way. There are just so many! It was worth it to make several new parties during the game to see what characters I really liked.

well me i found suikoden1 in a bargain bin for 5 dollars and said for 5 bucks it can't suck too bad and bought it.. i hadn't heard anything about this game good or bad so i brought it home set it on the shelf then one day my wife decided to try it... we got stick on the dice game so we restarted w/ a walk through and damn we were hooked we took turns playing it and looking up whatever info we could find on the net. then i found out there was a 2 and i had to own it believe it or not i found if for only 12 dollars in 2002. what i really love about the series though is the strategy and the amount of character .. sometimes i try to play every playable character just to see how they are.

What got me hooked in was the great multitude of characters and the three different unique battle systems. Plus, the storyline was not only something that wasn't like Final Fantasy (which is what I'm obsessed with) but it was also really believable. Plus, Suikoden II made me cry. I don't think a game (not even FF) has made me cry and that's what I call a good game.

My first Suiko game was Suikoden 2, and what got me hooked was the first four characters i met. Riou, Jowy, Viktor, and Flik. Then came Nanami and Mukumuku. After those six, I got hooked on all the characters and how they looked (so kawaii!!!). And then the runes, the strategic battles, the castle, Neclord (the b*strd), Leknaat, the cooking competitions, talking beasts, and finally, the TRUE runes got me hooked on the game.

Two words. Suikoden II. Everything about that game just got me hooked, especially the castle/HQ thing.

What hooked me was the atmosphere. Seriously, the atmosphere of Suikoden 1 felt so refreshing because it wasn't just the normal fantasy game I've been playing up until then. It felt so modern, in a non-modern setting. It's realism was also felt. It was like the team was really trying to accomplsih something, and not just being stagnant and following what the game dictates. I, also, fell in love with the main character. I've not felt so strong for a main character up until that point. And being silent and making my emotions boil out like that was simply amazing. Then there were the tragedies, the search for new team members and the whole betrayal that was kind of new to me and I was hooked. Afterward, I established that Suikoden I will be the measure stick for the entire series. I mean, if you've played through a game more than 50 times and still get the same feeling as the first time you played it, it has to be something.

I think what I really like abut Suikoden is that the story lines are believable. And maybe I just got so ******** sick of saving the goddamn world in every other RPG. Personally, I'd rather play as an emotionally and verbally constipated hero than some generic-a** wanker with a wedgie.

The history is what always keeps me with the series. Although there's a new plot every game, you can always count on a familiar face or a cameo from a previous game. And the history! It's like a freaking book! I love how just every game you get to know more about the world while you're in different countries; instead of regular RPG's where it's always a new world and all you learn are the female's cup sizes.

And of course, the characters. So sexy. Every last one of them.

Really, I could write a novel on why I love Suikoden.

Anyone to notice the balatant Final Fantasy bashing gets a gold star.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the story, it's not Made my Kraft (IE, Cheese)!~!!!!
The cast is wonderful, I'm not in it for Shmexy-ness, but they are still cool!
Verbal constipation is the funniest part, aside from the bald elf-dude in Sui-V!
Can I have my gold star now? (Final Fantasy is okay for the occasional gameplay, put I've always hated the plot.)

The nautical theme of 4 got me hooked. I bought 5 because sequels are usually good, and I loved 5's story and characters as much as 4's. However, 5's begining was a little tedious and boring. 4 had better graphics too.

One of my friends bought Suikoden II used from a game store, and we played it together. It was pretty cool, so I found Suikoden I on eBay, and got it. Man. Really, the one thing that got me glued to the story was Odessa's Assassination. From that moment on, I was a Suikoden fan. xd

Plus I just love having 108 characters. whee And 6-person parties (ignore Suikoden IV for a second...)

I've only played Suikoden 3 and 5. Its pitiful, but I only bought the games because I thought Hugo and the Prince were both hot. After playing the games, the deep plot and the characters is what really got me hooked.

What got me hooked on Suikoden was at first the character art, and then the music, and followed by the story of the game. All this came from Suikoden II, which i think was the best of all the games.

I got the game on my own since i was always into RPG's. That's why i'm really thankful to have stumbled into this. I just love the game so much from then on. Yep. SuikOtaku over here... sweatdrop

the first time I played the series was when a friend suggested it. I was really big into FF and other RPGs and was so happy to hear of another. What got me hooked was the freedom of choice you have in the game. Also the amount of characters you could get. So many!
Then came the 3rd and the animated scenes got me there. I loved that story and was desperately looking for the 2nd.
When I finally got it! I cried XD LOL. I was happy. That story and how it tied into the first one swept me into becoming an even greater fan ^_^ the characters are lovable *hugs Gremio, Riou, Jowy, Tir, etc* I just love them! You get so attached to the story ^_^

In my personal opinion, the best were the first two. I want to see SuikoGaiden >.< but I don't know where so it could tie in the third as well *cries*
