Terra held her breath, not making a sound. Her body was stern and locked against the wall. She would not let herself be found. Vincent... why did you do this? Her mind was racing with a million different things, each alight and abuzz with ways to explain the situation.
None of which were exactly sitting with her.

Something touched Terra's arm.
Something that was rough and scratchy.

Don't move, don't blink, don't breathe her mind reeled. What was that? Should she move? No! Don't move. Moving could be very bad. She felt like a child, wanting to cry out for her mother, but knowing no one was going to answer. Her chest tightened and her eyes slowly closed.
Please... please go away...

"...I'm not going anywhere, child."A match lit, and thrown into sharp relief was a monstrous, bloodstained.... Scarecrow. "...But he certainly is...."He laughed wildly, his voice distorted. In the opposite hand of the match was a scythe...one which was bleeding onto the ground. Another lightning clap revealed the Other One, standing at the door with a murderous look in his eyes.

"S..sc...scare..." she tried getting the word 'scarecrow' out, but it seemed to get stuck in her throat.
Turning her head towards where the lightning bolt had come from, Terra let out a bone chilling shriek, the very depths of the voice could have likely shattered glass...
Had there been any to shatter.
Fight or flight. The two basic instincts.
Terra chose flight. She turned tail and bolted. Where? She didn't know, she couldn't see a damn thing... she just wanted away. She knew there had to be stairs there somewhere... she had heard walking on them earlier...

The Scarecrow laughed as Terra stammered at him, setting his own straw-stuffed hand on fire with the match. "BOO."As Terra ran, the Other One followed, slowly, ominously. The burning Scarecrow illuminated the room - Terra was running up a flight of stairs. The stairs, however, were slick with a black substance...one which felt like icewater on Terra's feet. From up the stairs, there was a door in front, to the left, and to the right.

Always go left. Always always go left. Something she had heard when she was younger. She couldn't remember what from however. A chill burst up through her spine, whether from sheer terror or the chill on her feet, there was no way to be certain. She quickly moved to the left door and began to fumble with the doorhandle.
"Please open..." she whispered raspily.

The door swung open...and behind it was the flaming Scarecrow, stitched grin splitting to show off fangs. He was grotesquely tall, bent over like some manner of gnarled tree. "WRONG WAY. Didn't Mommy ever teach you to go RIGHT!?"He struck out with his bleeding scythe, the pole of it now flaming as well. He didn't hit her, but came close. The Other One was deliberately coming up the stairs.

Another earsplitting shriek flew out of the girl's mouth as she backed up, but stopped. Seeing The Other One coming up the steps she quickly bolted to the next closest door. She knew she should probably actually hit up the right one but it seemed to obvious. He was calling after it afterall!

As that door opened...two unpleasantly familiar figures were standing there, laughing merrily. Scarecrow's laughter grew louder, the thunder roared, the rain poured inward on the windows, leaking ink-black puddles to the floor. The Other One was at the top of the staircase, blade gleaming in the firelight. The Scarecrow was coming closer. The other two figures reached their hands out towards Terra slowly....

Terra was beginning to run out of options. Fear ran rampant through her veins and in her panic striken state she did what any other not-so-human teenager would do.
Falling to her knees she suddenly changed. Swirling pink hair and just as pink of a body, the girl, in her sheer terror, and managed to snap into her esper form.
"GO AWAY!" her eyes glowed brightly and her fists clenched tightly.

The Other One stopped in his tracks, staring angrily at her...and sank into the floor as if it were liquid.
The other two did the same....
...And the Scarecrow....
"Never...not as long as I control the fears you hold...."
But then his voice changed.
"SCARECROW! We can't stay in the room like this - we should monitor from farther off...."

Watching the three slip away into the ground, Terra backed up away from the scarecrow. Tears were in her eyes and her breathing was quick and spastic. Her teeth were clenched and she looked about to lash out... like an animal who's been pushed too far.
But... what? "Mon..i..tered?" she backed up again, "What?" Things were starting to distort for her, the room changed for a moment, she thought she could see someone leaving, but she shook it off.
"What.. is going... on..."

But the house was disappearing...fading out of existance. Left in its wake was another desolate building - one that wasn't quite as dark. Terra was lying in an old, dusty bedroom...on what appeared to be a pile of.... ...Straw.

Skittering up onto her hands, Terra quickly shed her rather pink form and was left with her green hair and pale skin once more. Was this another trick? Was this even real? Where was she!? How did she get here?!
Tears began to well up in her eyes once more as she simply fell back on her hands and began to sob uncontrolably. She felt as though she didn't know up from down. Her body shook lightly as she found herself clutching her knees.
The other one... the two... and that... that...
That creature...
God... she wanted Sephiroth now... he would make things better...
