What did you think of them? I really am a big fan....i can't say i prefer them to the orange...they are both superb but the lemon and lime ones dunked in tea are a bit special i must say... AND i don't know if i've mentioned this before but you can actually buy orange Aero bars again...HOWEVER i have only seen the big bars (not really a problem for me wink ) and the thing is, the orange bit is now TOTALLY different in taste and texture...its as crumbly as hell and tastes like well, nothing like it used to taste like, almost inedible in fact...and....and.....GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR 1. Walkers Crisps (scum) 2. Cadbury Schweppes 3. M & S 4. Nestle

I haven't tried the lemon and lime ones yet, but they do come highly recommended by Hippo, who seems to be an authority in these matters... xd

they are quite sharp, but not in an unpleasant way, i mean i had no trouble eating the boxful, but the orange ones are superior, i suppose i shall try the blackcurrant ones if i see them in Heron too, they have reviewed them on nicecupofteaandasitdown they said they were a bit like black forest gateau confused

Hey, all! I went in Southern Season today (a really good, big gourmet grocery over in Chapel Hill, NC) in search of Jaffa Cakes so I could try'em. I asked about Jaffa Cakes over at the SciFi Channel Doctor Who forum, see, & the UK posters were telling how they scarf boxloads of 'em too! Got me really wanting some! Anyway, they had McVitties Hobnobs, Gingernuts & milk chocolate Digestives, but no Jaffa Cakes! sad I asked about them & they looked on their lists of Things They Can Get, & said they COULDN'T get them! scream I couldn't really tell them anything about Jaffa Cakes 'cause I don't really know what they are yet, but the lady had a package of cookies she wanted to know was it like them? I ate one & it was really tasty, but I can't say if it was another company's version of Jaffa Cakes or not. It was Pim's, by LU, in Belgium. Anybody know the answer...& if they're the same thing, how do they stack up to McVitties Jaffa Cakes? They said Pim's came in PEAR flavor... xd heart

Over at the SciFi Channel forum, they were vehement in their opinion that Pim's was nothing like Jaffa Cakes. I guess our search must continue, Dad. sad

Pim's are the same basic idea, sponge base, jam, then chocolate on top.
They launched them over here many moons ago, must be a good 10 years i'd say, but they didn't do well. They were if i remember correctly, a cherry-ish flavour, with milk chocolate with a drizzle of white on it. Not a patch on Jaffa's though.
I've tried the blackcurrant Jaffa's now and they're rather good! I bought a box along with me when Hippo and myself and a few others from our AOL group went to Sherwood Forest for the day, Hips actually anded up with 4 boxes of the things, i bet he munched his way though them all too, i shall have to question him about that if he ever appears online again..

Thanks! Southern Season is a very good gourmet grocery & I should think they'd want the best they can get. I'll let them know the overwhelming opinion against Pim's. If they aren't interested in changing distributors though, I don't know if things will change--unless they are a big enough customer to move the distributor to start carrying Jaffa Cakes.

i don't see why they can't get them when they already stock other McVitie's products, seems a bit daft to me confused

(thanks to Miss Jelly and co for providing the jaffas) 3nodding
