Gallen sat ba back down not to close to Duke, but close enough to talk, he bit into teh apple and smiled, pleased with it's taste.
"Yhea, 25 times very odd. Never could read that book, to .....odd. I think it is funny to see though, he being a cat...boy...not sure what, with a pocket watch around his neck. Guess he is a big fan, like a hard core comic fan or Otaku."
Gallen bit the apple again as he leaned back and watched the clouds. As much as he hated it here and feared what he was going to become, the clouds seem to bring a peaceful ease to him.
"Did you know shinogami like apples?"
He grinned knowing neither his two new companions would understand the quote.

"I'd love to read it then." She sits a bit away from Duke in case he wants to go back to his book, but still looks at Gallen. "Actually I've run into him as well. And I think he has Split personalities. They're all from that book." She leaned back alittle to enjoy the sun. "So what were you all doing before here?" She didn't really expect Duke to answer but just she included him as well.

Your kidding, you mean that guy has more then one captain running the ship. And they are all out of that kids book. wow that is weird.
He smiled as she asked the second question.
I worked for a radio station in New York City. I was a radio personality and had a show that delt with helping find missing persons. The show also went after groups like Feral. I finally hit a nerve and they tricked me into coming to this island. I thought I was going to Florida for a new position at a radio station, but it turned out that was all a lie and I wound up here. But maybe I can finally find my missing sister, she was the reason I went on this crusade to help others and to fights corps. like Feral.
He sighed and leaned back.

((AHHH! SHORT POST DEMON!!! *Stomps on it*))
Duke lifted his shoulder, looking out at the rolling waves of the sea. A lot of the people here were American, and sometimes he felt a little intimidated by all of these different things that the Americans seemed to be into. He had simply been lifted from the street while he had bene walking home. He had no life, no family, no one who cared for him. He had been the perfect disappearence act. Drawing up his knees, his mind wondered back to his life in the orphanage, and the sudden death of his sister. Never had he felt so alone, though this place was starting to give him similar feelings of doubt and mistrust and apprihension. The people that brought him here wished harm to him, 'in the name of science'. Yeah, he knew science. It could cause pain and destruction. Silver eyes closed, and he pushed back the memories of the orphanage and of the death of his sister.
"I lived pretty much on the streets. Selling art, commissions, the like." Duke filtered sand through his fingers, pushing the bottle over and rolling it around. He brought his knees up to his chest and leant his head on his knees, wrapping his arms around his legs and facing away from the two, dark glasses in place again.

"I am sorry to hear that. The streets you say. I use to help kids on the streets around the studio. Buy them lunch or play basket ball with 'em. Kids in America are very different form kids in Ireland or in china or any other nation. And art ye say, I use to do a little painting, before my job fully took over my life."
He watched the young man and then focused back on the young lady.
"that was a very good apple I thank ye for it."

"China? What China?" Dai chirped, her head popping up from beneath the water. So much for hiding. Dai was usually a very shy person, and she was the kind that watched from afar and slowly moved in, never, ever, making the first move. Her cheeks lushed a deep red, making the day seem even hotter. "Oh. I'm sorry, I'm from China, you see..." Indeed, her voice did have a slightly gutteral accent to it. "But where are my manners? My name is Dai... Dai-Tao Chai. I'd get out of the water, but I left my 'chair on the other side of the beach." She motioned to the other side of the inlet. Oh, dear. No one was saying anything. Or maybe she was just very, very, nervous. "Um..."

"Gallen?" Dai was puzzled. Gallen didn't look like he had a disability... And wasn't she here for that? A rehabilitation resort? But then again, he could have hidden it the last time she met him. Nevertheless, she hid her doubts away and smiled genuinely. "It's nice to see you!" She hugged his legs in earnest. He was so tall now! "Why are you here? Did you -" She stopped and flushed as his offer, swishing her hands underwater, fiddling with her hair. "Naw, it's okay. I think I might collapse into giggles again like last time."
Her face suddenly fell when she heard the 'tricked' part. "Tricked? What... Do you mean?" Sure, a few people on this island might be a little strange, but... "If this is a joke..." She looked hesitant. He looked too sincere to be lying... Maybe it was a good trick, but since when were tricks good? Dai bit her lip, suddenly solemn.

(( sorry guys meant to post sooner but I got sick ))
"Wow an artist. I'd love to see some of your work...That is if you don't mind showing it." She hoped she hadn't crossed any unseen lines. Turning towards Gallen. "Oh wow two artists, how wonderful!"She waved his thanks off. "It wasn't a big deal, I brought plenty so help yourself if you want more." She watched as Gallen headed off towards someone he obviously knew, she smiled and picked up her book ready to start into the Wonderful world of Fantasy.

Duke watched Gallen wander off down to the water and wade in to talk to another. It seemed strange that the man was always so willing to talk to anyone and everyone. Duke sometimes wished he could act so calm and cool around others, but he still shrank away from people, even after months of knowing them. He couldn't help it, no matter how hard he tried he couldn't trust, and he didn't like the thought of being left again. He knew it wasn't his sister's fault she had died, but everyone he had cared about had died. His parents, his sister, the only guy in the last home to have actually attempted to get to know Duke had eventually died of cancer through being an idiot and smoking. Yeah, Duke's happiness was always ending in the death of the person that brought him that happiness, and he had made it his promise to others to keep them at a distance, because he seemed to kill off everyone, whether indirectly or not. He blamed himself for every death, and it was just in his nature to want to remain alone.
"If you want. My art is not the nicest of things in the world. I do not deal with the happy and the joyful, but the deceased and the pain filled. It is my way of remaining secluded and alone, and so that I never forget the pain that people I knew went through." Duke glanced at the girl, silvery grey eyes hard as steel and just as cold. He curled in on himself, wrapping his arms around his legs and wishing he could be miles away from this island and the thoughts and past experiences it made him face because there was nothing else to do. His finger traced a tribal pattern in the sand, some kind of canine, a snarl and long claws. He liked his tribal drawings. They were jagged and looked painful, and were often the center of some of his more macabre pictures.

Dai was... Confused, and her face plainly showed it. First he was serious, now he was prancing around like a little kid at a carnival, hyperactive and energetic. It would be better to just play along until she could find out more about this inside joke. "Friends? Oh, that'd be great! I haven't met many people here, just two or three." She smiled and waved to the two, then, ever so carefully, she brought the hand down, the smile still remaining -Albeit a little more mischevious- , as if she was going to set it back down next to her...
And splashed Gallen. Cackling, she dove underwater to avoid any watery retribution. Dai had started the first splash in the long and deadly water war...

Duke's eyebrow rose as the man returned with one of the biggest smiles his face could pull without loosing the top half of it. This man was insane surely? He was more a little kid then a grown adult. He could make out the girl from the waves as Gallen gave his speedy explanation and ran off again to start a water fight. Duke recoiled a little, even though the waves were miles down the beach. He sighed, knowing he couldn't be rude and stood, offering his hand cautiously to Morgaine to help her up, his long frame in a position of a closed off attitude. He didn't like to be touched, but he should at least be the gentleman his sister had taught him to be and help up the woman. He faced away from her slightly, eyes not meeting hers as he offered his hand.
"I s'pose we'd better see this girl. Would be rude not to, and after already being told off by Gallen I should probably do as he asks..." Duke muttered his words and looked out to the two in the water. He was definately not going in, but he would stand by the side and watch them, water wasn't his thing unless it was coming out in a hot stream from a showerhead. Either that or in a cup of tea... Man, he could actually do with a cup of tea... Funny how thoughts struck you like that... He looked down at the girl who had been about to read and motioned to his book and sunglasses. "Why not leave the stuff here. S'not like anyone's going to come here anyways, not unless they saw us before."
