nikki_is_me *She smiles at the comment about her past performance.* "Well, how about this. I'll pay you rent until we actually have business and until then we can talk about you hiring me. I can help out where I'm needed in the mean time." *Aykon smiles and claps his hands at this, obviously excited about this*Well, that is a decent idea, but I have no need for the money yet, you see, I paid off the building and all of the facilities that run it are self contained so the only thing I have to pay for is labor and material costs...until people come here, no labor or material costs. You can place your hat on the door of your office and take back the AM position if you are not leaving. nikki *She chuckles and sips her water before continuing..* "I'm sorry if I worried you while I was away. I felt I needed the time alone, and I think it did me a world of good. I always felt safest here, which I think may be a small part of what drew me back. This is really the only place that ever really felt like home. And I've... let go, let's say, of things in the past, things that caused hardships for me. I promise I'm not going anywhere this time." *Aykon nods sagely as he hears your words and he shows eyes of compassion*I see. I, too, have had some changes in my life and have left a lot of things in the past, perhaps having a girlfriend at home will make me concentrate more on my business and less on those visiting/staying here..*chuckle* If you recall Nikki, when I opened up the doors of the first DarkSeas down at the end of the road there, my one vision was to provide a place where anyone felt at home for the short time they stayed...*laugh* most of them were so welcome that they never left. *Aykon takes another sip of his drink and carries it to the bar, yawning*I tell you what Nikki, I am very tired...here...*digs in his clothes* here is the key to your room. Make yourself at home, all I ask is that you post the hours you will be here for our customers/workers on your door so they know when to expect you. *he places the key he had produced in your hand, letting his fingertips touch your palm very lightly as he smiled brightly*Welcome back Assistant Manager!

*Her smile grows and she nods to you.*
"You have a deal then. Girls are trouble, Aykon." *She chuckles and winks.* "I remember the past here well.... This business holds many, many memories."
*Her cheeks turn slightly pink at the unexpected touch of your fingertips and she bows her head to hide it and quickly moves over to the bar, placing her glass on it by yours."
"Thank you very much. I'll turn in as well, and post my hours tomorrow."

((Sorry for kind of vanishing...life called. >>; )) Aykon *Aykon looks notably saddened by this notion but decides that it is best left alone. You can see his face smiling to you from the reflection in the wood floor, albeit with a cherry tint but not too overbearing.*Oh, so you were drawn here by the magic, eh? Well, this old building always did seem to draw more of the magical crowd in its higher days. But you were one of...heck...the best made this place ever had when you were here. I won't ask you to clean anything...*chuckle*...but you are just as welcome as Nikki is. Just make yourself comfortable! Would you like something to drink too? *Aykon smiled in the way that only he could, it was a winning smile he had used to calm so many hurting people and to make even the most wayward traveler feel welcome* A maid!? Her? It couldn't be...but...the idea felt...correct. Nisso cursed the gaps in her memory as she glared at the floor, relfection or not.
"No, thank you," she replied distractedly, barely remembering her manners. There was so much to ponder about this place, these people, the girl felt almost faint.
"Actually," she said, looking up after some reflection, "do you have anything hot? Say, not quite boiling?" Her eyes seemed to be pleading with Aykon to understand how much she needed something to...to anchor her right now. She was confused and unsettled. One arm reached behind to stroke the pommel of her ritual knife for comfort. Why did she have vague memories connecting it to this place?

Glad to see you are back!)) *Aykon looked you over for a moment and then nodded.*Certainly Nisso, I will get you something very nice. Just a moment! *At this, Aykon headed over to the bar, he knew the perfect thing when someone wanted hot and comforting. He gathered a large cup and filled it with the boilng hot water that was used for coffee and filled the cup about 3/4 of the way full. He then quickly went to a cabinet and pulled out a box of various leaves and spices, their smells seemed to completely conflict with each other yet feel completely in harmony at the same time*
*He busied his hands to grinding them up in a fine powder and then stirred them into the cup of water that was now only partially boiling. Upon touching the surface, the grains made a sizzle and filled the air with the heady feeling of being in an open grassland with flowers of all types mixing together under a hot yellow sun.*
*Within a matter of moments, the smells became much more subdued and warm. Aykon finally stirred the glass up well and then carried it over to Nisso, holding it cautiously to her.*Here, this is sunshine tea, the finest tea I ever learned to make, should be just a little under boiling, if this can't calm your restless thoughts nothing will. Don't worry, no alcohol, pure spice. *Aykon now held up the cup and the subdued scent of the prarie flowers danced along Nisso's nose and beckoned for her to taste it.*

She watched him with a remote interest. The concoction, at the very least, was interesting to watch. She accepted the cup with a soft "thanks" and peered at the drink. Why would she care if it was alcoholic or not?
Ah, didn't matter. Nisso took a drink.
And tasted something remarkably like home. Not quite home, there was no sulfur at all, but close enough. The girl looked up and smiled at Aykon, the grin transforming her face from that of a scared child to a confident young woman.
"It's good," she told him. "Really good. D'you think I could learn to make it?" And thus add a bit of sulfur, she finished to herself, taking another sip. Home wasn't home without the volcano, why shouldn't home-in-a-cup be without it?
((The logic. It makes me laugh. ^^))

*Nikki had watched Aykon make the drinnk with interest while keeping an eye on Nisso. The girl didn't look well to her, she was afraid the girl would faint. She remains quiet and watchful as the drink is made and passed between the two.*
"Are you doing okay now, Nisso?"
*She asked the question with concern in her voice. The girl had been acting off from the way Nikki remembered her from before. She couldn't place the cause of it though.*

She looked over at Nikki, some confusion on her face. Now? What did the other woman mean by 'now?'
"I'm perfectly fine, everything's normal," she replied. Except for the missing memories...which was excusable. At least she had memories. Some poor souls she knew of didn't even have that comfort.
But damn, this place and these people were definitely throwing her off-balance.

He nods to her and then speaks in a happy tone*Well, I could teach you the process but the spices are an old family recipe so I couldn't give you that. Now, if you have your own spices I would be glad to show you the way to grind and mix as I did...is that what you mean?

But damn, this place and these people were definitely throwing her off-balance. *Aykon watches Nikki as she speaks, her words strike a remote interest and it appeals to Aykon, he did notice that Nisso has been acting strange...well...even strange for Nisso so that was bothersome. He waited until Nisso's sharp reply and then spoke, looking at Nikki first then to Nisso.*Well, honestly Nisso, I do sort of agree with Nikki, I mean, I haven't seen you in a few years but even then you didn't seem to act anything like this. Are you sure you are alright? If you are tired from the road, you can enjoy one of the famous tatami rug beds. Is that appealing? Or would you rather just stay about for a while. *He then turns his eyes to Nikki, he knew something was very strange about Nisso and could likewise agree with Nikki but the look simply expressed that he was worried to, that was all it took.*Say, Nisso, Nikki has already taken back her role as Assistant Manager and gotten her room. How long would you expect to stay? Of course you are welcome as long as you like.

The girl smiled a bit. "I guess I'll have to figure out a mix of herbs for myself then. And add my own...flavors," she added with a grin that couldn't -quite- be called mischevious.
The smile quickly faded though as Aykon added his two cents to Nikki's curiosity. "Of course I'm sure I'm all right! Have I given you any reason to doubt me?" she demanded. Then again...maybe she had. What a scary thought.
Nisso nearly choked on her next sip of tea as he continued talking. "Stay!? What in gods' names are you talking about?" This was definitely going above and beyond the weirdness she'd expected and even anticipated. This was...it was strangely like torture, having people know things about you that you couldn't remember! One hand slipped back again to grab her knife. Not that she thought she'd need it. Just as a kind of security blanket.

*Aykon's face looked completely blank for a moment...it seems as though Nisso had no idea what was going on. Perhaps she had somehow lost her memories of this place. For a moment, Aykon pondered if the reality lapse spell had messed up somewhere but the quickly shook it off.*
N...Nisso...surely you're kidding. Ok...This is the DarkSeas Harbor Inn and Tavern. It is a 3 story inn and tavern in the middle of the Ostern Woods. Just a half mile down the road outside is the old DarkSeas where I first met Ikorra, your friend. You came here abou three and a half years ago looking for Ikkora but liked being around this place so much that you stayed even though Ikkora never came around.
*Aykon took a deep breath, the thought of anyone not remembering something about the time he spent with them hurt him in a strange way*
I am Aykon D. Silvers, I own this place and have for years, Nikki is the Assistant Manager and has been for many years. You used to be a maid...remember, I always yelled out you for wearing your shoes on the nice rugs upstairs. This place used to be filled with laughter and joy, people came from every land known and unknown to visit and enjoy...Don't....don't... you remember me?
*At this, Aykon took a deep sigh in and heaved it out before taking a seat nearby and lighting his blue tobacco smokes, he now greatly wondered if he had done something wrong to make everyone else but himself and Nikki forget about this place.*
