Pona woke up not so long after Ona did she streched out all her legs and tail and yawned big, the little girl blinked and tried to see something with her newley awake eyes she always loved to sleep til noon if she got the time and if no one woke her up but this storm and sleeping besides someone she didn't know was odd...wait...

" Oh i am sorry! did i sleep here all night? "

Se felt a little embarassed sleeping so close to him wasn't so great maybe, maybe he still didn't like her she was still not sure what he tought off her he was so diffrent then others she met..

" Oh umm are you ok? "

She sat up and started to groom the sleep off her face she moved a few steps away from him and looked at the bird Kucha she was awake..

" Oh goodmorning! are you guys going already? "

No what if they left what should she do then? she haven't been able to find her family yet but she didn't know how to hunt or survive in the same way as an adult was so what should she do? she paniced a little but tried to hide it but she wasn't so good at hiding things..

Kucha gave a small chirp in greeting as the cub stirred and nodded gently. "Yes it appears so, but it was probably good you didn't go out in the dark. The night is no place for a lion cub." She didn't mean to offend the little one with her words for Kucha was the protective type who liked to make sure everyone was okay. "I feel much better knowing that you stayed here with us last night instead of going out into that ghastly weather."

With that she tipped herself back on her spindly legs and twitched her plumed tail. "Plus the new day has brought with it a cloudless sky and a brilliant sun, much more suitable weather for felines and avians, don't you agree?"

She clipped her beak together and flew outside to an overhanging tree where she perched upon a low branch and gazed about her.

Ona turned to gaze at the cub and shifted sideways slightly, wishing that his nerves would just go away. His experiences had changed him and he wasn't sure whether he'd ever return to the way he used to be. For once when he had been a storyteller he was now a silent and timid creature who dared not utter a word.

Strangers frightened him and yet he had not set eyes upon another Ela'wadiyi lion since he had left his travelling partner to die upon the mountainside. Even those who bore the tattoos of his kin would be strangers to his eyes, for he doubted any of the Shadow Clan had even survived.

"I-I'm fine." He replied, watching Kucha as she left the den to bask in the sunshine. "Think I'll go warm in the sun." He murmured quietly as he got shakily to his paws and moved out of the cavern.

His caramel coat was dappled with the light that filtered through the leafy canopy above him and as he turned his crystal eyes back towards where the cub was a shimmering of a smile touched his maw. It seemed with that the warmth had helped dry off his sadness and despite the fact that his fur was unkempt his mane knotted and his rubs protruded from his sides he did indeed look better than he had.

It seemed Ona's spirit had not completely left him.

"Are we getting ready to leave, Kucha?"

"Yes," she replied, "not far now. Soon you will be home amongst the family you long for and I can be on my way too." For it had been agreed that once they reached their destination she would part ways with him to return to the lands of her other adopted daughter - who happened to be a wild dog.

"But what will you do Pona? You are welcome to travel with us if you have no where else to go. Perhaps one of Ona's clan will have met your family."

She turned beady eyes to the young male adolescent who turned his face up to gaze at the orange avian and nodded slowly. "Ona my dear, you cannot be afraid of all strangers. Take a look at her. She may not bear the tattoos of your kind but she is a little cub and she won't hurt you."

"T-The others may not like a s-stranger upon their lands." His ears flattened as he gazed at Pona apologetically. It seemed he had come to the conclusion that she wouldn't hurt him, and though he was still nervous he was slowly accepting.

"But you are welcome to travel with me. I know what it's like to be alone." He raised his head and sniffed at the air. "I don't suppose you know how to hunt?" He asked of the cub with an expression that showed his embarrasment. "I smell fast food." In other words: rabbits were grazing nearby.

Pona perked her ears in the bird Kucha's direction she seemed to be a wise bird and knew a lot about this world so it was good she took care off Ona until he become and adult and he got some more confidence into that body and soul off his. She still felt a little sorry for him had he always been like this? so shy and barley no confidence at all?

She looked at Kucha when she flew out off the cave and landed in a tree nearby. Pona decided to walk out from the cave, her small paws followed Ona's footprints...when she put one off her paws in his steps she noticed that his was so big compared to him but confidence was much greater then his...

She smiled when she heard that Kucha asked if she wanted to come with them, looked at Ona maybe she should go with him and learn him to love and have confidence in himself and others he really could need that if not now maybe in the future..

" Oh so i can come! that is great! then maybe someone has seen my family somewhere "

She noticed that Ona was worried again she wouldn't be trubble to anyone she hoped so then he didn't have to worry...maybe he could learn her to hunt if she had to stay with him for a longer time..

" Oh thank you Ona i love to travel with you and Kucha and i try not to be trubble ok "

Pona perked her ears in the rabbits direction she just blinked she didn't had that natrually instinct fullly evolved yet..

"Let's hope so!" Kucha agreed, for it would be a sad thing for the cub to lose her family in such a manner. What mother would want to leave their child? It seemed a very upsetting and strange thing to do, especially to she who had the mothering instinct that equalled many females. She saw everyone as children and loved to mother over them despite the fact they were a hundred times her size. With a small twitter she dipped her body forwards on the branch so that her beady eyes caught at the sunlight.

"I shall help with the hunt!" She announced as she leapt from her branch to swoop through the sky. Just how she would help was yet to be seen but Ona had complete faith that Kucha knew what she was doing.

Her bright orange feathers flashed against the blue of the sky above them and then she was gone, her body consumed by the leaves of a cluster of twisted, gnarled trees.

Then twisting back his head to the cub Ona smiled a shy sort of smile and nodded slowly. "Don't worry, even if my Clan does not like outsiders I won't let them hurt you." His voice was ever that coy whisper and yet he spoke sincerely. Those glassy eyes held no lie within them and as he turned to follow Kucha he paused to gaze back at the little cub.

"You won't be any trouble! In fact you might even be able to help. I'm...not a great hunter so maybe we can group together to try and catch a little something?" His head tilted ever so slightly to the side. He hadn't eaten in days and rarely did find anything at all by the looks of his narrow and almost frail looking body.

With this said he lowered his body and crept slowly forwards, paws moving with a motion that was fluid and natural looking. He might not have been an experienced hunter but he had the instincts that all lions and lionesses gained with age.

A few strides saw his form tugging into a thicket and after a moment of ducking under the branches of the tightly-knitt foliage he found himself breaking out to gaze upon a small stretch of grass which was dotted with an array of boulders. The grass here looked dry and yellow-ish and yet the rabbits here looked quite content.

There were seven in all and many of them young ones who had strayed perhaps a little too far that day. Yet who could blame them for their rashness, for who expected to see lions so far out from any prides or regular hauntings? The flash of orange as Kucha circled opposite him on the other side of the long-earred group caught at his eye and slowly he lowered himself to the ground. For a moment he lay there, giving himself a chance to gather his senses and to give Pona a chance to catch up. He dare not speak in case he scared them but he was sure that his actions had alerted Pona to the situation.

The young cub nodded and smiled happily wasn't this great! maybe her life would be fine for a while not until she found her family and maybe found out what happend to them. That was still strange and botherd her that her family left her but why just her? there was many questions that needed to be answerd but not right now..

" Oh ok great Kucha! "

She licked her lips while thinking off food while she walked after Ona. That male was still so diffrent in his way to act and talk he was so shy so she had decided now that he might need some help sharrinh up and not be the silent type anymore..

She stopped and looked at Ona when he suddenly changed his moves and it seemed that he spotted something..food maybe? she did the same as him and sneeked closer to see what he was looking at, oh rabbits they are very fast but maybe the two off them could catch one. So she waited for him to attack because she hadn't so much experience in hunting yet..

Taking note that the cub had entered sneaking mode the adolescent crawled forwards on his belly a little more. Behind him his tail was held rigid and in his mind the hunting instinct took over. He was starving, tired and dirty and somewhere deep beneath the layers of shyness, timidness and fear was a growling and snarling lion just waiting to get out.

He readied himself, pawing gently at the ground with his forepaws. Then one minute after another stretched out and it was quite clear that Ona had a patience much more intuned than other lions. Then finally the rabbit he had been watching drew closer and turned its back, long ears folded against its shoulders.

This was it!

Ona leapt from his place amongst the rocks and brambles, his stocky body pounding against the ground as he gave chase. The rabbits scattered, white tails flashing in his eyes. For a moment he faltered, looking confused as to which rabbit to chase, and then he saw it. The one he had been watching all that time.

With a snarling roar Ona began to chase, eyes flicking from the bunny's rear end to the warren he was dashing for. It was too late! It was going to escape!

And then a brilliant flash of orange darted into vision as Kucha swept out in front of the furry creature. The rabbit hesitated and fell right into Ona's waiting jaws.

The rabbit's strangled squeal ripped through his skull and for a moment as he stood with the rabbit squriming in his grasp he felt almost sorry for the creature. Then his stomach grumbled and he knew it had to be done. With a ferocious shake of his head he broke the creature's spine and ended it's pitiful cry.

Hunt over, Ona returned to his shy self and dropping to rabbit to the ground he turned back to look for Pona. "It's okay." He murmured. "You can come out, we have food!" It was true one little rabbit wouldn't be enough to fill both of their tummies, but it would be enough, for now.

Pona wanted to make a try at the rabbits too but realized that it was to late when Ona's instincts plopped out. He was so shy and suddenly the lion in him took over she she got a little shocked.

She watched Ona closley when he took some big steps and started chasing the rabbits she wasn't sure if he was going for one or them all it was hard to see.

She wacthed him intense no what if he missed it? no she couldn't look but she had to she was so curious to close her eyes. Oh Kucha helped him it seemed, Pona smiled she was happy that they got something so she waved her tail happily in the high grass there she was laying.

Oh he was good at hunting and he looked cool while doing it too, but suddenly he was back to his old self again it was ok she started to like him like that big and shy..

When she heard him call her name she strutted out from the highgrass and walked over to Ona..

" YES! good job there from both off you i was going to do something but ummm i wasn't quick enough "

She looked at the rabbit then at Ona...

Ona dropped his nose to nuzzle quietly at the rabbit's bloodied side, opening his jaws to tear gently at the flesh. The smell of the fresh food drove his stomach insane and yet he knew it was only right to let the cub feed first, she needed her strength more than he did.

He gently reclined to the ground, his stocky, tattooed body coming to rest upon the rocky flat. Then raising his eyes he watched as Pona approached, feeling a sudden protective desire sweep over him. Was this what it felt like to be a brother? He had been born an only child and never had the delight of having brothers and sisters to play with. Already he felt himself growing close to the cub in a way that was almost family, despite the lack of tattoos upon her.

"It's okay." He said kindly, his eyes flickering from her to the meal. "One day you'll be bigger and better than me!" He said, "females are the greater hunters you know." He shifted in embarrasment and turned to gaze at Kucha who was hoping over to them.

She came to a halt beside Ona's paws and peered at the cub with bright, beady eyes. "Well then little one!" She chirped, fluffing up her wings and flexing the feathers along her spine. "Eat up! It's only right that you eat first. You need your strength if you want to travel and search for your family." She gave a high-pitched trilling sound and flipped her head back to preen lightly at her wing feathers.

Pona tripped over to Ona's side and looked up at him, maybe he had to eat before her? or was she the one getting the first bite? she was very polite for being a cub but she didn't know Ona that well yet even if she hoped he was very nice like the side he had showed the past hours..

She wiggeld her tail and tought it was ok to take a bite then so she ripped a little bite off fure and flesh from the rabbits side and started to shew on it, hm this didn't taste as good as milk but it was ok because she knew this was the food lions ate..

" Me bigger then you? you are kidding dear you are a male and males are always bigger then females "

She laughed but she liked the idea off she being all big and grown and be able to hunt good then she could get food for her friend Ona so that felt great.

She looked at Kucha when she spoke to her to eat up because she really needed the energy and strengh from the food..

He watched the female eat with a fond sort of smile on his face and twitched his ears back slightly as she spoke. "If you eat well then you'll definately be big. My kin grow smaller and stockier than most." His eyes slowly downcast to the ground, ears drooping slightly as he thought back to his parents, his body trembling slightly. They had been smaller yes but they hadn't lacked in strength and determination. They had fought until their last breath, struggled to survive when everything was set against them.

Sometimes he wondered why he had been allowed to live when so many others had perished. Great warriors had fallen, strong guardians and huntresses. He had been just a lowly cub and yet somehow against all odds he had managed to escape war and plague and survived a journey that had lasted many cycles of the sun.

He turned his head fondly to Kucha who cheeped in response, glad for her company and aid. It was her that gave him hope and her that led him home to a place where he could finally be at peace.

"What do you plan to do now?" Kucha finally asped of Pona. "Would you like to accompany us to Ona's lands or would you prefer to set off alone. I'd rather you stayed but we both understand if you feel you need to go. If ever you feel lonely or lost you can always return to us in Ona's lands." She pointed her wing to the peak of the mountain and chirped. "it lies just beyond there."

She took joy out of seeing Ona's expression and fluttered her wings slowly. "It is up to you."

Pona shewed happily and didn't think off so much right now then to fill her stomach, it felt good to shew the flesh and feel it inside your mouth but then she looked up at Ona..oh what was wrong now? was he also hungry?

" Umm that sounds nice but why do you look so sad? "

She stopped eating and puffed the rabbit against him with her nose maybe he was hungry after all. He was thinking and using his brain more then she did sure she tougth a lot off what have happend with her family but she was already sure that someday she would found out what happen. Sure she have had nightmares and had cried but that didn't help in search for them only to help you feel better..so your wounds could heal.

Pna tilted her head to the side and waited for his answer. Then she turned his head to the bird..

" Umm i don't know try to live while i search for an answer about what happend to my family...i can't just stop eating because i am sad that would never make me find them if i grow weak "

She had an absolute power to live so not even something like this could pull her down even if she was just a cub.

" I can go see your home maybe i found an answer over there and company is very nice "

Ona'raha dipped his face to gaze at the ground beneath his forepaws, mane dangling down in front of his face. He was a handsome lion indeed, with both the imprints of his mother and father's colouring. Yet it was for this sole reason that he couldn't even bare to look at himself, whether it be his reflection in the river or in the pools of another's eyes. It hurt to be reminded of them because he had loved and lost them. They were gone.

He was alone..

No.

He wasn't alone anymore.

He raised his head very slowly, shy gaze settling first on Pona, had she finished eating? He opened his mouth to ask but no sound uttered free. Instead he blinked back the tears and took comfort from the fact that he had made a friend. She was small but she was strong and it was a comfort to see someone like her trying her best to survive despite everything.

"Painful memories..." He spoke finally, ears drooping slightly as he lowered his muzzle to the kill and began to tear off the last of the meat. Oh it tasted so good, so fresh, so sweet. His belly rumbled like distant thunder as it realised that something was happening and when he had finished he riased his head, licked his chops and smiled. It felt better to have some food inside him for a change.

"You're right Pona, very right, we have to keep surviving, we have to keep living." He beamed, getting up onto his paws and stretching. "My new home isn't far now, not far at all!" There was excitement in his usually placid tone now as he turned in the direction Kucha had pointed. "Ready?" He askde the question to both of them.

Kucha gave a high trill, the sound rising above the calls of other birds nearby, and with a great hop she embraced the sky, orange wings sweeping outwards. It was time to go!

"I shall lead the way, come along now kittens!" She called as she whirled above their heads, wings archign through the air as she headed off towards the final peak.

Pona watched him all the time he seemed to be in his own world again btu she waited because he needed that and he didn't need a lot of questions..

She sat there looking cute and fuzzy while she waited for his answers and waved her tail some..

" And i am finished with the food you can have the rest "

She almost could feel that he was hungry and by that look off his face he could need the food and energy too. So she puffed the food closer to him.

Pona nodded she didn't ask what painful memories he probably had a lot off them that por male. Then she watched him eat and that boy could eat so that was really good.

" Of course we do what else are we suppose to do? sure life is a pain sometimes but we can't just lay down and die for that "

Pona looked at the bird and nodded she was ready to go..now everything seemed so exciting..

Ona'raha said nothing more, his gentle eyes settling on the form of the little cub. What did fate have in store for him now? Would he be greeted with the remnants of his pride or would there be nothing left? Kucha had told him she had seen others like himself but until he set eyes on them he would not believe it.

Father...

Mother...

He turned his eyes up to the sky, sadness dwelling in their soft facets. He had to keep on living, for them and for the pride. He had to survive because he had been chosen to live. There was a task for him now, and that was to reach home and help his kin if they had arrived there too.

"Lady Pona, you are a wise lioness." He bowed his shaggy head towards her, eyes closing as the soft smile settled on his maw. "Let us go now, let us see what awaits us."

He turned and headed off after Kucha, eyes following the arc of her golden wings. She had said her name was Kucha but he had chosen a better name for her.

She was Auri'rubani, his golden guide.

And she would lead him home!

(( we can call that the end of the RP if you like. I'll probably start a nwe thread for when Ona arrives which you can have Pona join in. You can PM me if you want to do some plotness or whatever ^^ ))
