Neko Girl

PostPosted: Wed May 31, 2006 11:46 pm

Demare blushed slightly as the girl stood so close to his face, blinking a few times as he wondered why she seemed to interested.

"No, I don't really change..." he told her, leaning back a little bit until she stood back upright. "However, when Demian is in the body, he can't hear people calling my name for some reason, just as it's hard for me to hear his name when in the body. We haven't figured out why that is quite yet... It could be just because we're so used to everyone calling us Demare."

He couldn't help but laugh a little bit at that last statement, a state of wonder crossing into his feelings as Chrys floated closer to Malady, wondering why it was so upset.

"I wish seperating my other half would be that simple," Demare said, smiling a little bit. Curiously, why didn't you want it with you anymore?"

"Hmmm, well I don't know if I can say Malady's another half of me. I don't really know what it is except it's my Intangibles." Paestri shrugs unconcerned whether or not she offended Malady. "And why I sent it out of me is because if I didn't they'd keep bothering me." she explains, as if Demare knew who 'they' were.

If you knew you were utterly unwanted you'd feel upset too, but Malady wasn't wailing because it felt bad for being unwanted. It was wailing because it seemed appropriate to do so given how Paestri was declaring she no longer wanted to have it inside her. In all honesty Malady was blindly loyal to Paestri and though it did feel hurt now and again it wouldn't ever think badly of the Legend.

Demare quirked a brow, cantering his head a little bit. "They?" he questioned, his wings drawing in close to his back.

"Uh huh. They. The mean, not very nice shadow peoples who keep saying I did something bad to them when I didn't really. They stopped coming to see me when I made Malady go away." It didn't strike Paestri as odd nor did it bother her to reveal things about herself that others might find weird or negative.

"Yeah, they're really ******** up too. Not like they weren't warned before hand but they don't seem to accept it's really all their fault."

The halfling still didn't quite understand. The shadow people? Was there something else living within the girl's mind, or was she speaking of the darkness itself? If that was the case, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to let her meet Demian period, as that would probably make the impression a lot worse.

"I'm afraid I don't really understand what you mean," he apologized, shifting the book in his arms a little bit. "What shadow people? Why do they think you did them wrong?"

"Well these shadow people came from my locket." Paestri absently touched the piece of jewelry hanging from her neck. "I remember bits about meeting them before they became shadow people, and telling them stuff but what exactly I don't know. But Mal is right, they were warned about whatever it is they did afterwards." She pursed her lips in thought. "But they're gone now so it's all better." she smiled, not because she was trying to change the subject. She just felt it was a good thing that they were gone.

Perhaps that was what one meant when they said that the past was haunting them. Though, in this case it was hard to say whether or not it was Paestri's past, since he knew very little of the girl.

"Well, I'm glad they aren't bothering you anymore," he said with a smile, "and I hope they don't come back to upset you."

He glanced at the book-like pendant around her neck for a moment, curious as to whether or not it could open like a regular book. "That's a pretty pendant, by the way. I've never seen one shaped like a book before."

"I don't think they can upset me now, nothing has so far." Paestri beamed proudly of this fact. "And thank you, although can you understand what the symbols carved on it mean? I've been trying to find someone who does but I haven't had much luck."

Demare looked a little more closely at the pendant, but still made sure to keep space inbetween himself and Paestri. He'd never seen the symbols engraved on the locket before, but he thought it was interesting that two of the symbols were a pair.

"I'm afraid I can't read that," he apologized, straightening himself out again. "However, I think whatever it is consists of three letters. The second and fifth markings are the same, as are the third and fourth. Perhaps it's a word or name of some sort?"

"You think so?" Paestri blinks, still fiddling with the locket. It wasn't a nervous tick, it was more to get a better feel of the engraved symbols. "Maybe it's a spell, or a magic word like in that story with the guy and forty thieves or something. The locket doesn't open when I want it to, it just opens all on its own." she laughed. "Do you have stuff at home that has a mind of its own?"

Oh, Paestri liked old tales as well?

"Yeah, maybe like that story," he agreed with a smile, nodding a little bit. At the question, his fingers twitched slightly, his right hand almost moving to brush against his dagger. "And... yeah, I guess I do."

Instead of touching it, however, he only turned his eyes toward the blade, watching as Mordanath's wings stretched out a little bit at the attention.

"My dagger here... appears to be alive somehow."

Malady extended a tendril towards Demare's dagger, naturally it couldn't touch the object and merely passed through it.

"I thought I'd give it a try..." it mumbled in response when Paestri noticed.

"Really? How nice." The pink Legend smiles, "Wanna go get some ice cream or cotton candy? A vendor comes by every now and again around this time and Linny just gave me some money to buy myself a snack or two. I'm sure I can get you one as well." she offers. "We could talk while we eat, or sit down while we eat and talk. Or should I get you two in case your other half might want one?"

Demare looked around for Chrys for a moment, realizing that he hadn't seen him for a few minutes. His scarf wiggled around a little bit, and the child figured he'd probably melded into the shadows to try and pester Demian for a while. So long as it didn't bother the demon too much, maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

"Sure," he finally agreed. "I can pay for myself, that's okay. And... for your sake, I hope you never meet Demian. He doesn't really like sweet things."

"Demian doesn't like sweet things? Prana doesn't like sweets either, except Honey, but I'm not sure..." The pink Legend mused as they walked towards the fountain where the vendor was usually found. "What sort of food does Demian like that you don't?" she continued. "And what do you do besides read books about the dead?"

"Well, I don't really like meat," he told her, watching the water from the fountain sparkle in the light as it poured down from the top. "Though, I'm not a vegetarian, as I do eat some meat like fish and sometimes chicken."

Once again, his attention had returned to the book in his hands as he looked down at it, his fingers brushing along the pages for a moment.

"Well, I do enjoy reading... When I can't go anywhere, that's what I usually end up doing. I like to play with my little brother, taking walks... If I could visit people, I would do so, but it's hard for me to go anywhere aside from headquarters. What about yourself?"
