Devika slides the card into the lock at the hotel she is currently staying in. It's a pricy one, but the half fiend won't settle for anything less than the best, even if the stay is planned to be short-lived.
She puts the card key in her mouth as she opens the door. As soon as she steps inside, she closes the door, tosses the card key onto the small table next to the door, and stretches, her large, leathery wings flaring out on either side of her.
She takes a few, exhausted steps into the room. Anyone that would have had the priviledge of watching her, even now, would note that she still looks as gracefully seductive as ever, even in her tired state.
She reaches her taloned hand up to her hair, and starts pulling out the bobby pins that hold it up in the style that she prefers. Once that is done, she shakes her head, and yawns.
As she walks toward the adjoining bath, she freezes, every muscle in her body alert. The chain around her right arm is unwound in an instant, and the cresent blade at the end of it is swinging, ready to be whipped out and to cut through flesh.
Devika blames her weariness for the fact that she didn't notice a presence in her room the moment she stepped into it. So, cautiously, she heads toward the bed. There is definitely a lump on her bed. . . . But, assuming that, just because it is a small lump, it isn't a threat would be naive of her.
When she hears the tiny, infant-like crying, she is left in shock. Her jaw actually drops.
She hurries toward the bed, and finds a small, purple infant on it. She groans, and the chain in her hand drops. How did this happen?
She shakes her head, and bends forward. As soon as she has the baby in her arms, he stops crying. Sighing, she sits down on the bed, and waits for the little one to fall asleep. . . .
