I only really have two fave characters and they are Sawyer and Hurley because both are very funny and sawyer is hot!

1. Locke <--- The most awesome character ever (ignoring the second season. He pwned in the first season and he's back to his old self in this [the third] season)
2. Sawyer <--- You warm up to his belligerent pack rat attitude; you know that deep down he has a good heart. Plus he tastes like fish biscuits.
3. Sayid <---He's awesome; he doesn't just sit around... He tries to get off the island. Plus he tortures people. I'm an old-school spy movie person, I love a good torture.
4. Mr. Eko <--- He's the tail-end Locke. AND he carries around a Jesus Stick.
5. Jack <--- Despite his annoying hero complex and his obsession with Kate stressed (I'm sorry you Kate fans... but I detest her character) He grew on me in the second season.

Notable mentions:
Ana Lucia <--- A good leader, they needed her to pull the tail-end survivors together. A little bit trigger happy, but her back-story was very depressing. I was sad when she died.
Michael <--- I love him; he's one of those people who tried to do something to get off the island. BUT the stunt he pulled at the end made me very sad. crying
Sun <--- She's an awesome character who seems understated in the first two seasons; she was Jack's right hand woman in all things medical. She knows how to keep calm in a crisis and thought ahead. She had begun making a garden so they could become independent and grow their own food and herbs. She would have been in the top five had in not been for the recently discovered affair. I was a little annoyed at that because I do like Jin, despites all his faults.
Jin <--- You go from hating his character (for being an abusive, dominating husband) to feeling sorry for him. It’s good that he's on the island away from Sun's father.
Danielle Rousseau <--- Crazy? Yes, but with good reason. I like her sporadically eccentric appearances.
Rose and Bernard <--- Showing that true love can shine through. Rose also is excellent for subtly giving characters a push in the right direction.
Charlie <--- Loved him till that whole fiasco with Claire's baby.
Claire <--- Awesome character... just not playing a dominant role right now.
Sorry it's so long, it's sort of hard to just choose five. Especially through the three seasons. That's why I had the notable mentions; they are the past top five characters in my book.

1. BOONE ((He was kinda naive, but adorable. And I think if they had kept his character, he would become an interesting character. Plus the plot might change a bit.))
2. DESMOND ((Especially now that he's got wicked psychic premonition powers. I love how he's on the full cast now. Maybe he'll become somewhat of a leader-type-figure because he's been on the island for a while...))
3. CHARLIE ((He's funny and cute but there is some underlying depth to his character. He looks out for people, and I think they should go deeper into his character this season.))
4. HURLEY ((Who doesn't love the life-size teddy bear?))
5. ALEX ((I REALLY want to see more of her. She seems to be the only Other who really is a "good guy." I want to know more about her because she seems like she could be a key character to the plot this season.))
6. DANIELLE (('Cause she's the crazy French chick! She's not just crazy, though, she's SMART!))
