Ok...here's my theory...Squareenix is busy with the Compilation of FF7 properties and the new FF games. I believe that, although they have denied that they will be making FF7 for the PS3, after the launch of some of these properties AND the launch of the PS3 this year AND the coming 10th year anniversary of FF7 in September of 2007, they will announce it, probably on the anniversary date. FF7 is a very marketable property and has a very loyal dedicated fanbase...not to mention they love making FF7 things AND they aren't totally adverse to a little fanservice for profit now and again (FFX-2 anyone?). I think that, although they have denied reports thus far, there will be a FF7 for PS3. ^_^

Final Fantasy 7 Re-Release
Squaresoft re-released Final Fantasy 7 in Japan as "Final Fantasy International". Differences include the missing Ruby WEAPON and Emerald WEAPON bosses that were not included in the first Japanese release and a few minor changes.

And how does a person like you have connections with Square Enix if they are based in JAPAN! Are you like related to a person who works there? Releasing info to a person who is not of the company is against regulations and the employee in question will be terminated for disobeying company regulations. Also if you had these connections, what other things would you know about other games made by Square Enix, you would have to have talked to someone of the development department for the remake of FFVII. Right now ANYTHING posted in this thread is currently unconfirmed rumors and speculations. Any further instigation that FFVII is being remade must be officially confirmed via website link, or online news statement. If you do not offer proof, Your claim is unfounded and is nothing but an instigator for widespread rumor. You are basing this off of current FACTS not rumors or instigators of rumors. I would rather make sure that the facts lead up to a possible remake rather than, someone saying they have connections or seen photos and such of a remake. The tech demo and FFVII are connected but only because they decided to use the best game they ever had come out for usage for a tech demo for the PS3's graphic system, also to show how FFVII could look gamewise using the current Advent Children character designs. Anyway, right now nothing is concrete, currently it is ALL RUMORS. A FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE MAY OR MAY NOT HAPPEN, BUT PLEASE BE SENSIBLE ABOUT THE ISSUE AND DO NOT INSTIGATE THE RUMORS UNTIL THEY ARE PROVEN TRUE.

Then you would do kindly not instigate your own rumours of that FF7 is definately not coming back for PS3, as you said on the last page, because your point has equally no validating evidence either. A special site which you do not give props or links to does not validate it either, that's just as vague as the people who claim to be working at Square-Enix/have relatives working there. Square-Enix may have denied making a FF7 re-make, but the Tech Demo was a bit out there for people who had no intentions to re-make it whatsoever, and unless your special site also has proof that a re-make was NOT announced at E3, then your point is not validating at all. A rumour that FF7 is not coming back, whether stated by Square-Enix or not in the past is still a rumour. But of course, you proove me wrong and I'll step down. sweatdrop
But at least you justified yourself with the big read text of doomy doom, whether it may or may not be, nothing is concrete, and I agree with you on that point whole-heartedly. 3nodding
And to the topic point; yes I would like to see a re-make, yes I would play it, and I think they could probably do it using the Advent Children Graphics Engine, though the graphics engine for a DVD and a Game may be entirely different because one requires interaction related in-put by the gamer themselves. gonk In any case, I look forward to one

Yes yes, sorry I'm just a little angry at a particular member who thinks he/she can fool the rest of us that there is a definite remake. Although as a fan of Final Fantasy VII I too hope for a remake of the famous RPG once again. oh and I forgot to add the link...here this is where I get my info for various video games from Japan that are either in development or in the process of planning stages. http://www.the-magicbox.com/

so yea if they remake it i imagine that from all the money theyll rake in they could take over the world and ill be first too join there supporters. square enix for ruler of the world!

By the time the game is released and made...If it is ever, the PS3's price will have dropped a bit, making me happy. But unless Square decides to release it shortly following the PS3 then heck $599 will be worth it!! blaugh

It's real. It's called Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus, and the main character is Vincent in this one, and it's a huge shooter. Apart from that, I know nothing about it...

Not that...the discussion was talking about the Final Fantasy VII RPG remake. Not the sequels. Get it right. Take a look at the link of my previous post, that shows the news of games currently in development by various game companies.
Everyone here already knows about the Dirge of Cerberus game. It happens after Advent Children movie. Dirge of Cerberus is a Vincent only game, also that is NOT the remake to Final Fantasy VII RPG.
Currently Square Enix projects.
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus - main character Vincent
Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core - main character Zack
Final Fantasy VII for the cell phone if I remember correctly.
Rumored Final Fantasy III remake for PS2

hmmmm.....they sould make a remake but thats square enix choice if they dont want to they dont have to. there already making ff7 doc and crisis core that sounds like enough to me. im not opposing the ff7 remake but dont get all mad if they dont make one be gratful that they made a movie and dirge of cerberus.

Update: A trusted source (EGM Magizine) has CONFIRMED that SquareEnix WILL be making a remake. I don't know if it's true, but they always have good info.
