"I... I w-was j-just- I d-didn't m-mean- d-don't- d-don't... p-please d-don't eat me!" He groaned, stumbling to try to hop away with his arms raised over his head defensively.

Kaveri snorted. "Dude, you're still alive. Why would I want to eat you?" She took another step, still holding out her free hand. "You alright, man?"

"S-still alive? I.. I.. ah..." Vulture- he had heard talk of a vulture on the island. They ate carrion, didn't they? No... no eating him. But a bird, a bird a bird, the frog was screaming, a carniverous bird and birds like that ate frogs! He swallowed thickly, his head swimming as he drew his gnobbly, webbed hands up to scratch at his bear arms, "ah.. hah hah.. ah... I..." Was he having a panic attack? He tried to remember his breathing excorsizes. In and out real deep, in through the nose and out through the mouth- but his breath came in sharp spurts. The sweat glistened over his green skin that seemed to suddenly freckle with darker green speckles and faint green stripes.

Kaveri balked. She would have taken offense had she not known what she'd looked like, but she didn't expect that she'd be so terrifying as to give someone else a panic attack. This fellow seemed a little high strung, though, but surely he'd seen other islanders before, even with his green skin?
Her brows knitted in confusion, the feathers on her back and rump stood up and felt like pinpricks digging into her skin as she watched the green little man freak out before her very eyes. It was hard not to put a reassuring hand on his shoulder, especially considering that he didn't seem to want to be touched by her.
Maybe it was just her eyes decieving her, but was... was his skin getting greener?
"A-are you alright, man?" Kaveri ventured again, chewing on her bottom lip. "Lissen, if I'm making you sick, I can point you back to de village..."

He gasped for air, the sweat becoming thicker, slimier over his darkening skin, it's texture becoming quite amphibious, sending a violent shiver down his back as his flesh followed suit. "Ah- m-my mask!" He finally gasped, hands frantically patting at his person as he searched for the pocket he had shoved the paper mask away in, but was horrified to find that it had fallen out sometime durring his journey. "M-my... ah... d-damn!"

...s**t.
This seemed to be more than just a panic attack, but Kaveri wasn't sure how to rationalize it. Was he having an allergic reaction to something? Did he catch some horrible tropical disease?
"Your mask?" Kaveri came towards him, panic be damned -- what if he was having a seizure and needed help? Granted, Kaveri didn't know exactly how to help... but it's better than just standing there gawking like an idiot. Hesitantly, she made an attempt to wrap an arm around the stranger's shoulder. "Dude, calm down, take it easy!"

The changes came a bit quicker by the time she took a hold of him and he didn't have time to draw back away from her. He lurched in her grip, panting as he kicked his feet frantically, "Ah... ah... a b-blast! Off... off g-get them off!" He grit his teeth, attempting to grab around her for his steadily tightening boots. They had already been noticably larger from his last change, but inside, his toes had bent and curled up against the inner leather, threatening to either break a seam or break a bone.

Kaveri herself was nervous, she didn't know what was happening or what to do to make this man feel better. "Get what off?" Kaveri asked, trying to hold on to the flailing frog man. It didn't take long for her to realize just what he was grabbing for, and her eyes widened with realization as she pulled her arm off of Newt's sticky shoulders.
"Oh, no. Oh, God!" Kaveri had never witnessed a transformation personally, she had only experienced her own. And here, in a most unfortunate of first meetings, is a poor wandering stranger who probably would desire more comfort from something other than a spiny-armed, terrifying 6 foot tall vulture. She dropped her stick, letting it clatter to the ground as she knelt down and helped Newt by pulling on the boot laces and untying them. She couldn't easily lever them off with only two functional fingers on each hand, boots are hard enough to take off with regular hands.

He managed to kick the boots free with her help just in time to uncurl his growing toes that creaked and ached, pinching and popping as the webbing crept up their leignth. The legnth of the foot stretched as well as the toes, making them almost digigrade, still reminiscant of a human foot, but undoubtably froggish. But even as his feet were readjusting to his confused and altered DNA, his eyes had widened and swelled. He tried to close them, but parts of his eyes seemed to grow and expand faster than others, the balls nearly leaping from his face befor his sockets managed to catch up. He gave a scream, hands flying up to try to cover them, to push them back into place.

Kaveri was flabbergasted. She didn't know what to say, and her jaw hung open as she watched his feet stretch and reform, hearing his bones pop and crack as they changed shape. She gasped and pulled her head up as high as her neck could stretch, her eyes widened.
His eyes, his eyes! What was happening to his eyes? They were getting huge! Kaveri croaked with worry, that poor man's eyes looked like they were going to fall out of his sockets! She gingerly drew both arms around him, and while she was probably getting uncomfortbly close she careful that her pinfeathers weren't going to p***k anything. "Just ride it out dude, it'll be over soon," she distantly said in an attempt to be reassuring. But still, she couldn't help but to add darkly, "For now, anyways."
This was horrific and deeply visceral, but somehow the vulture managed to keep her cool.

Finally, they seemed to settle on a size, the green irises expanding and the pupils changing to an odd horizontal diamond. He gasped, grabbing at her arm, his color now identifyable as a frog's with a familiar and pinpointable pattern in his markings. Only his face seemed to be changing now, his nose pressing in to smother itself just over his nose, save for two pin-point nostrils on the bottom of the boney, flat lump it had become. He gave a terrified wimper, trying to crawl away from her, "I... I... I-!"

"At least you're not dead."
It's blunt, but it works. Kaveri wore a neutral, if somewhat sympathetic expression as she firmly put both 'hands' on Newt's shoulders as she shook her head sadly. She suppressed a shudder, this entire thing was downright scary to watch, but she had to keep herself together for the sake of attempting to comfort the frog-man. "It's harsh, but de truth. You're not dead..."
She pauses for a few beats, watching him with those haunting silver eyes before concluding, "I think it is done for now. How are you feeling?"

He opened his mouth, eyes trembling and gaped, darting around frantically. His vision had improved severly, things that had once seemed inconsiquential or dull now sharp and vibrant, each fly easy to spot against the more concrete backdrop of jungle. He swallowed, twitching slightly as his body attempted to readjust to it's new deformeties. "I... I'm n-nuh-not-KrrrrrKIT!" two balloons of skin under either side of his jaw suddenly expanded to send a loud, carpenter-frog croak, like an echoing hammer edged in a human voice. His already impossibly large eyes widened further as his webbed hands flew inf ront of his neck, gripping it tightly.

At this rate, Kaveri couldn't stand keeping her head anymore. She reared her head back and hissed, startled, just as Newt's neck ballooned out and he croaked. Had her thoughts been a little more clear than the static black mess that was racing through her mind now, she might have had the gut to make a pun in attempt to lighten the situation. All of her feathers stood on end, and she tried pulling Newt's hands from his neck. Unfortunately, two fingers don't lend well to gripping power so her attempts are probably in vain.
"Don't strangle yourself, man!"

"I... I... I... I d-did what he t-told me to do! How c-could it... h-how c-could it g-get worse??" He groaned, "I'm n-not... I can't be!" The frog-man continued to struggle, trying to right himself to his even more froggish crouch than befor.
