lanceknightmare Emerald didn't attack till you ran into him with your submarine. Ruby didn't attack till you hit him with the highwind. Ultima didn't attack till you rammed into him and then chased him down after he tryed too avoid you. All the other Weopons waged war on Shinra too try and protect the planet so they were on Aeris side. Basically all the weopons didn't attack till provoked except in the case where they attacked Shinra. Shinra is evil so therefore the weopons are good. Now as for the two weopons that didn't wage war on Shinra Emerald and Ruby these two could have helped out too save the planet but they didn't. Does this make them evil, not really. I don't remember them attacking till you ran into them xd . sorry to say this but emerald actually chased your submarine till you get far enough away from it then it stopped but ruby start and just walks arounbg the sand till you run into it

lanceknightmare Flemavenger They are like Holy. They destroy whatever they need to to protect the planet. If humans are hurting the planet, then they need to destroy humans. I guess they are kinda neither and both at the same time. You have your facts mixed up, for one Holy only came because Aeris told it too. Meteor was the threat too the planet at the time and it was triggered too try and stop it. Holy failed and the planet itself had too lend a hand in stopping Meteor from possibly blowing the planet in half. It is a very powerful materia indeed but a materia none the less so it doesn't has a specified target until the one using it gives it one. Second, saying neither or both at the same time is a contridiction and without clarifying what you mean it has no meaning. you also have you facts mixced up if you pay attention when red's grandfather is explaining everyhting in the solar system model hologram thingy he tells you that holy was specifically created by the ummmm.... i cant remeber the name of the thing sepiroth's mom was you know the angel looking things, but anyways he says they created it specifically to protect the earth from meteor and it was the only thing that could stop it im sure you could find the scene online somwhere and watch it again if you wanted to try to prove me wrong ill gladly accept it if you find somthing contradicting what ive said lol xd

I would like to point out that the weapons didn't emerge until Shinra struck at the Crater where Jenova crashed to Earth all those many years ago. This doesn't make them bad though, it only makes you think since they didn't respond when Meteor first arrived so they weren't really protecting the planet. Protecting the planet is their function but they didn't do it to well.
I believe they are neither good nor bad. They just are. Some of them are bad (Emerald chases you and the one that attacks Shira attacks ANYTHING in its path so it doesn't care about life) or indifferent (Ruby). Also, Ultima is harrassing towns and that's why you originally have to fight it. Hmmm... Is it to late to change my vote?

So many people are on the fence for this one ><. I think they're good, made by the planet to protect it, some of them were just to lazy to do it right........kinda like a few people i know xp

The WEAPONs are actually protectors of the planet. They were built as a fail safe if someone were to gain the power to summon METEOR. Thew WEAPONs were put to sleep. That way if someone were to actually summon METEOR the weapons would awake and try to save whatever they could. I do not know if they would have stopped meteor, but HOLY was not even enough if you all saw the ending of FF7. But anyway, they awoke as you all know when the materia was suddenly activated. The only reason they seemed bad was the fact that the humans were seen as some kind of threat because well we humans just have to attack things we do not understand. So yeah they were good, humans were the bad guys. They were just trying to save their butts from total destruction. That is what I get from the game anyway =|

humans do whatever it takes to survive.if they do evil things trying to survive they need to be taught the right way to survive.the weapons are there to make the humans see the right way of living even if that means destroying them in the process.
