The really sad thing is what my mom pointed out. "So they have time to have the senate ban gay marriage but not enough time to work on medicare, poverty, the war and the economy..."
Please I just wish they would make a list of thingfs that have to be done. Gay marriage shouldn't be one with all the problems we have already. I felt the same why when my stupid state banned gay marriage. (Lives in Missouri) I was sitting there going. "How could you! are you all homophobes?" My parents voted against the banning and I love them for that.
Also the sepration of church and state people...In fact doesn't it say somewhere in that bible that Jesus stood up for the minorites which in this case is the gay people. Yes I understan marriage is between a man and woman but what happed to the calling it a civil union idea? It would have the same right just a diffrent name.

THIS IS WHY I AM INDEPENDENT.
*sigh* Political parties, like George Washington said, are just not a good idea. What happens is we get two major extreme groups on totally different sides, and you can't even choose what you believe in any more!
For instance, I support President Bush in most of his decisions. I'm not ashamed to say it--there's way too much Bush-bashing for my comfort. But personally, I don't see how anyone could find anything wrong with gay marriage. It's just--love. Even when I was little I never questioned it.

Well, let's look at what there is:
Current major parties:
Republican Party, founded 1854 Democratic Party, founded circa 1828
Current third parties: (Each of these non-major parties had ballot status for its presidential candidate in states with enough electoral votes to have had a theoretical chance of winning the 2004 presidential election.)
Libertarian Party Green Party Constitution Party (formerly the U.S. Taxpayers Party) Reform Party
Then there are a bunch of other little ones, but they can't do jack s**t.

You know what I want to see? Something in between the forceful evil of the Republicans and the wussy goodness of the Democrats. We could call it the Purple party! It's symbol could be a pidgeon... *starts giggling insanely* Oh god, I've really got to stop reading the New Yorker at... what was it... 6 in the morning? After not sleeping all night? *keeps giggling*

The United States is like a dance... One step forward, two steps back, do a little dance that makes you look like an idiot in front of the rest of the world, then take another step back. talk2hand

Lol...Something like that.
Actually...now that I think about it, what's so great about America? It's been drilled into our heads since birth that the U.S. is the greatest country in the world (at least, that's the way it's been for me...sweat smile , but...is there really anything that sets us apart? Anything at all?

Eh...But, technically, everyone in the world could argue that his or her country is great because of its leader.
I'm asking, is there an aspect of American society that sets us apart from other countries, like healthcare or education?
(Lol, obviously neither of those make sense, but I needed examples...^^; )
