"You have a point there Kaelin," Polgara smiled and nodded her head, sipping the tea and smiling a little. "Those are nice favorite things," She murmured, thinking about her own with a light giggle.

Kaelin nods placing her hands in her lap looking down at them for a moment. Looking back up she smiles "Any shade of green really, and blue. But don't tell this to anyone as I have a feeling everyone would be in shock, but I also like the color orange, don't ask me why but I do." giggling she kicks her legs alittle as she lift her hand to brush her hair from her face.

Pol smiled and ran her hand through her hair, brushing it back a bit as she let loose a light giggle. "Those are very nice colors Kaelin, I prefer blue and red myself." She smiled and brushed her dress, getting rid of some dust. she sipped at her tea again and put the now empty glass down. She stood and brushed her dress again, taking her cup back to the kettle. "Would you like some more tea Kaelin?" She asked, smiling as she started to set some more tea up to brew.
"Also, I can get you some snack food if you're hungry, I know you didn't wan any earlier?"

Kaelin nods looking down at her empty cup "Yes I would love some more tea. And I'm still alright on the food. Been trying to get my figure back after having Dil and Mel. So I'm not eatting much of the junk food." pausing she looked down at her lap. So much was running through her head that she wanted to ask.
Looking back up she bites her bottom lip then shakes her head. She just couldn't bring herself to asking. Not yet anyways, she didn't want to put a damper on this visit.

Pol turned her head at just the right moment and saw Kaelin's face as she thought. A small frown came to her lips. "Is there something on your mind Kaelin?" She asked, her statement about the futility of getting your figure back tossed out the window at the sign of her daughters distress.
The hot water started to boil, and she quickly moved starting to steep the tea.

Kaelin looked up and quickly smiled as she nodded "Yea I'm alright, just lost in thought for a moment." standing she walks over towards her mothing placing the cup on the counter.
Leaning against the counter she looked at the floor before she sighed "Mum why did you and mother give me up? Was there something wrong with me when I was still in the egg?" she bite her bottom lip now wishing she hadn't asked.

"I was wondering when you were going to ask that." Pol said very gently, starting to pour the tea. She was quiet for a moment, and then finally she began to speak.
"There was nothing wrong with you Kaelin, nothing at all." She sighed heavily . "It was us, we didn't feel that we could support three children. It was so hard to give you up, and I didn't want to, bu tin the end, your mother and I thought it was the best choice. If Tinania hadn't come along when she had, I don't know how it would have gone down..."

Kaelin looked down at the ground as her mother spoke. Looking up she nods "Yes Tinania a great caretaker, she treated me like a daughter." pausing she shook her head "I always thought it was because I wasn't wanted. Man was I so wrong huh?" laughing alittle she keeps her head bowed "How come you never tried to contact me after Nani took me from the isle?"

"Things got complicated..." Pol sighed, lowering her eyes as she finished pouring the tea and handing Kaelin her cup, taking a deep breath before going on.
"You see, your brother took up almost all of my time, he worried me so. It was not that I forgot about you Kaelin, I thought of you everyday, and I wanted to see you more than anything else in the world. But Victor... Victor had special needs, needs that even I couldn't handle. As he got older, he grew harder to deal with." She sighed and sipped her tea slowly. "But I have no excuse, I was a terrible mother, for all of you, even Hi..."

Kaelin nods remembering what her mother said to her when she was here last time "The darkness? Was it really that bad?" she just looked down into the glass thinking about what Victor said to her also. Shaking her head she looekd up at her mother "Your not a bad mother mum, not at all, please don't think that. By you thinking about me I know you still loved me. I was curious that is all, yes I was angry at first but now being a mother myself I understand how life can change things no matter how much you don't want them to.."
Smiling she winks "Beside if I didn't want anything to deal with my family I would not be here right now. I wouldn't have returned to the isle. But I do want to be here, so that is in the past. We have the future to worry about." with a nod she take a sip of her tea then smiles. She didn't look back, she figure everything happen for a reason. She just had to know that was all.

Pol smiled again, a bit brighter this time. "Yes, the future, I hope it is a good one..." She reached up and touched the medallion on her neck, taking a deep breath and sipping her tea. "Kaelin, this medallion was given to me by Guardian Iris herself, it allows me to summon her when there is need." She sighed. "I have often wondered why the Guardian's gave this power, this position." She held her breath again. "But in the end, I know what they did was important."
She pulled away from the counter and headed back to the table, sitting on top of it now instead of in a chair. "I just hope I do them proud."

Kaelin follows her then taking her seat she smiles "You'll do a great job mum, I know you will. I just hope that one day I can follow my family and become an elder also." pausing she thinks for a moment then looks back up "What it like being an elder? I mean almost everyone in the family seems to be one. And Thom say both his parents are elders also I believe." she pausing biting her bottom lip then shakes her head "How do you get chosen is what I am asking." she was trying her hardest to block the sadness and pain on her face from the name she mention.

Pol was obvilvious to her daughter's distress, and she smiled. "Well, I don't think I can tell you how to get picked. I was chosen because they felt that I would be useful." She smiled weakly. "There is no way to tell who they will decide to raise, and I think that is part of the reason I feel so nervous."
She touched the medallion again and sighed. "Just be yourself Kaelin, I'm sure in time you will find your answers..." She smiled again. "As to how it's like to be an elder... IT's not much different than normal. Just taller."

Kaelin nods thinking this over what her mother said. With a small nod she smiles "Okay so I just have to be myself. Well that easy, I mean who else can I be other then myself?" taking a sip of her tea she laughs alittle "Okay next question. How big is this family? I've always wanted to know."

"It's big!" Polgara laughed taking a deep breath. "There is Your grandfather Sol and your grandma Estra, your uncles Signis, Darius, and your aunt Talaris. Your mother and I, your Uncles children, your children, your borthers children." She took another deep breath. "And probably many, many more..."
