Kyoupiruchi
BANG!!!

A loud noise echoed out of Kyou's room followed by a low moan. "Ooowww...." Kyou rubbed the back of his neck, wincing. He was rummaging through the fel essence box, looking for a certain vial when the box lid fell on him. Good thing the box lid isn't too heavy or it may have decapitated him like in a freak accident.

"Well at least I found it." Lifting another rack of vials, he shone his little torchlight in the lower left corner of the box, where a vial with a tag "Tangible Dream" is located. Carefully he lifted the other vial racks laying on top of that certain rack, the fel essence in each vial either shimmer, bubble or just lay still in their own vials. Taking out the lowest left rack he placed it on a table. Then he extorted a small chain of keys from his lab pocket, he found the one he needed and opened the lock that's locking the vials to the wooden racks. It's a specially designed security lock to keep the vials safe from thieves. If the thief would force the rack open, the vial would break along with the rack as well.

He take out the vial and examined it. "Hmm... there's a small crack on the vial... but the essence seems to be still contained." The content of the vial shimmer in mesmerizing bright hues of purple, blue and green. Kyou peer into the fel essence and saw the dream he had the other night - Tsu got slapped by an old lady for molesting her. But the murky black 'glow' around the little crack worries Kyou, it seems to be in an eternal battle with the white glow around that area as well. He assumed that the black substance are nightmares, seeping into the vial from outside. It's a miracle how such a thing can happen, a fel essence that could contain dreams and materialises it in front of your eyes. Kyou should look away before the nightmare essences show him his nightmares.

He placed the vial carefully into a metal casing alongside an empty soul bottle. The metal casing is cushioned with soft cotton so that the vial and soul bottle wouldn't break. He closed the casing and wrote "For Renhei", and on the other casing beside it "For Kalindara".

Now Kyou needs to clean up the racks of fel essences in his room that's laying about. Carefully he placed them back into the box and locked up all 3 locks on the lid. Finally pushing the box back underneath his table so it's covered in the shadows. He needs to take all these precautions so that he could keep his research subjects safe from thieves. Taking up the casings, he walked over to his door to unlock it and set off to look for Chloe.

Quote:
A small delivery truck bounced up the white stone circular driveway before stopping in front of the small, english style home unusual for this area, but obviously old. It had ivy growing right up the side of the cream cobblestone exterior. The man slid outside of his truck, reaching back in to grab a metal case with a local mailing address on it. He approached the house, almost tripping over the tiny green hedges that lined the walkway, before stopping at the door and ringing the doorbell with his elbow.

The crashing noise he heard afterward had him leaning to the side a bit to try and peer in the long window that ran paraelle to the door. It sounded like there had to be at least ten people in the house with the amount of noise that was being made.

A few moments later, a short figure appeared on the inside of the door, silvery hair reflecting in the glass a moment before the door swung open.

"Wanajima?" The delivery man asked.

The boy gave a firm nod and reached up to take the pen, obviously used to getting packages. He quickly signed his name, Renhei Wanajima on the package slip and accepted the metal case with a peculiar expression. He shut the door with his foot, all the while the ruckus continued somewhere in the house. Renhei shut the door with his foot and started down the hallway to take the package to his grandfather, Kosu -- that was until he glanced down and noticed his name on it instead. "Oh! It's for me?" Ren veered into the closest room of the house. It was a small library, but filled with very old tomes.

He sat down on the floor indian style with the box in front of him and opened it. First a piece of paper, it seemed to be instructions of some sort, or rather rules. "A soul bottle.. and fel essence, hmm?" He was used to odd items arriving. Ren's grandfather, Kosu Wanajima held a special interest in the occult, dark and divine alike. He quickly passed the interest on to his only living relative, Ren. The essence had a description which Ren carefully read before handling it. After reading all the information, Renhei vaguely recalled his grandfather telling him something about an item being sent to him. "I should have paid more attention." He pulled the vial up and examined it. "It has a crack." He frowned, thinking back to the delivery man with some spite. "It's beautiful, though.." Renhei was captivated, it was swirling inside the vial as if it had a mind of its own, changing colors constantly. It turned deep blue for a moment which had Ren bring the vial closer to his face. He could... just bearly make out something squinting at the vial. "Ah! My dream from last night!" Ren shoved the vial away for a moment, then curiosity had him bringing it back to peer at it again. The same thing.

"Woooow."

Renhei decided then, he would keep both the bottle and the vial in his room. It faced the english gardens with flowers and ponds. He wasn't sure exactly what kind of soul he was trying to attract yet, but he was interested to see what would come out of this.

Day 1 [Observations]

After twenty four hours, the vial of essence has not cracked any further. The black area around the crack does worry me, though. Grandpa came to look it over, and marveled at it -- although he ran away screaming when he looked into the vial. I suppose he had a horrible dream last night. He said he saw himself failing at experiments. I took the soul bottle outside with me today as I pulled herbs from the garden to cook with, and then herbs for experiments. I don't want to gather the soul of a bug, so I will continue to take the bottle inside when I'm not out there.

Day 3 [Observations]

The essence vial swirled different colors today after I had a particularly good dream. Grandpa made me my favorite food. I'm having a bit of a hard time sleeping, as I keep waking up to see if the vial has changed or is okay. The soul bottle I've left in the middle of the english garden for now. I didn't think it would catch any interesting souls in this old house, I could be wrong though. I wonder if there are any limitations to the soul you can catch. I heard it was anything. Maybe a ghost? That would be creepy, but interesting! Just as long as it isn't a bug! Anything but that! If there is a bug soul, I'm tossing it back! I don't want some creepy eight legged raevan following me around. Ahh! I'm going to have nightmares about that now! I know it!

Er, something exploaded in the house. Grandpa is up to no good again. I better go check on him. While I'm at it, I'll visit the garden to check on the bottle again. I've been keeping the essence vial by my bed.

Renhei stomped up the stairs, his face smudged a bit. He wipped around at the fragile, half humored voice calling his name from the door below. "I'm not helping you clean that up! It's your fault!" He shouted back down, balling his hands into fists and turning away sharply. Ren sighed, scrunching his face up. He could hear the bits of laughter from his grandfather, Kosu, downstairs. He'd walked in on swirling magical circles and quite the visual spectical -- until it all went wrong and literally blew up in their faces, casting the heavy layer of dust in the room all the waystairs.

"He's too old for this." Renhei confided to himself. "He shouldn't be trying to toy with that stuff at his age!" He nodded to himself, convincing himself the more he spoke out loud about it. "I should hide his magic books...."

That was where his plan went wrong.

"... if he didn't have a whole library full." He groaned, lifting a hand to press against his face in annoyance. "He's going to get hur-- eh?" Renhei pulled the hand down and looked at it. Smudged dirt. "Ahh! Great!"

Renhei had settled down a little while later. He retrieved the dream essence from his room and was sitting in the kitchen with it propped into a holder as he ate lunch. His grandfather came in then. He was still smudged with dirt, but a smile was plastered on his face. He chuckled when Renhei gave him a slightly spiteful look, although it was purely joking. Kosu was only a few inches taller than the twelve year old. He was hunched over only a tiny bit with age, and used a cane to walk whenever he could find it. He was balding, but he still had perfect eyesight and crystal clear green eyes. His hair was silvery where there were traces of it left, and by the way he smiled -- the family resemblence was obvious.

Kosu Wanajima avoided the fel essence like the plague since his first encounter. Nothing like bringing down the aspirations of an aging man. Lately, the vial of essence liked to show Renhei pleasing dreams, and Ren didn't seem to mind that one bit. It was a bright swirling miriad of colors today, perfectly matching how sunny it was outside the english style home. Renhei was going to go outside right after this to check on his soul bottle.

That was, until, smiling and teasingly, his grandfather sat down a thick volumn of text in front of him. Alchemy and Arcane Magic: Understanding Practical Uses "Chapters 31 to 42." He announced. "That is your homework."

Ren's shoulders dropped. "Eleven chapters!"

"You didn't help me clean." The old man chuckled again, smiling at his grandson.

"... that's so cruel." Ren whined, slumping in his chair and leaning his chin on the palm of his hand before sliding the hand up his face. "I'll check on my bottle before bed then." He resided. "This is going to take all day." He poked at his food slower then.

Day 3 [Observations], Part II

Grandpa has me doing an abnormal amount of homework, so I grabbed the soul bottle from the garden and brought it inside. I thought maybe it should stay around the greens outside, since the piece of cloth on the bottle was green, but I stumbled across the mention of something in the book I'm reading.

I think I have a soul in mind that I want to see. Maybe it's just my curiosity, but I've always remembered this myth, and I wonder if it is true. Considering the amount of dreams around here, it would be a good place to start hunting for this particular soul if I left the soul bottle in my room from now on. From tonight on, I'll be hunting for the soul of a Baku, a dream eater from our native asian heritage.

Day 5 [Observations]

I've been having creepy dreams the last few nights. That might have something to do with telling my Grandpa what soul I am hunting for. He's had me watching scary movies and reading his collection of books about the darker forms of magic he's interested in. In my latest dream, I could control the level of water, and everytime I raised it giant sea monsters appeared -- leviathans, hydras. It was creepy. The soul glass had something swirly in it for just a moment, but it vanished afterwards. I was so close!

But this means I have to keep watching those movies. ;_; I should hurry, though. I'm worried that the essence vial will crack more. Maybe I'll just sleep all day in hopes of catching one.

Tossing and turning. Renhei had gotten used to that idea. If he wasn't so determined on his choice of a soul to capture (not only for what it was, but to prove it existed too), He'd have completely refused to subject himself to the few days straight of nightmares he'd been having. It didn't help that the house was old, creepy, and filled with bugs. On this particular night, Renhei had only been asleep just a few short hours when he rolled over sharply, and jerked awake. Another bad dream. His eyes were too fuzzy to focus on the wooden grandfather clock in the corner of his room. He shoved the last bit of covers off of him and sat up some. He'd gotten into the habit of reaching over to look at the fel essence vial everytime he woke up like this. For some reason, he had hard time remembering his dreams, but they were easy to see there. "Ehh." He squinted a little. "I can't wait to catch this soul and have good dreams again." He said, replaying only a tiny bit of the dream before pushing the vial away and setting it back down with a shudder. He determined then that he should get ice cream or something today to counter balance his efforts.

Ren scooted back down, parts of his hair, loose from its normal ponytail sticking in odd directions. "Back to sleep.." He mumbled lazily, feeling his eyes droop again as he pulled the blankets back up. Just as he was closing them, he noticed it. A faint glow just at the edge of his eyelids. The little boy slowly rolled his head to the side towards the other nightstand with a weary groan. He was tired and wanted to sleep more than anything.

Almost anything.

A few blinks. He could almost feel his head clear as the excitement hit. Light! The soul bottle! Ren sat up in a rapid hurry, shuffling the blanket back off him, and swung his legs off the other side of the bed, hopping the few inches down onto the wooden floor. He hesitated for only a moment before picking up the soul bottle. The glass was cool, despite the quickly swirling glow inside. It seemed a bit angry at being caught. "Ahh! I did it! I DID IT! GRANDPA! GRANDPA!!!!!" Ren dragged half his blanket off the bed to cover the bottle. Maybe it was a child's instincts that if you covered something, it didn't realize it was caged so easily. He dragged the whole mass of blankets, soul bottle and all right out of the room to go share his excitement.

Day 7 [Observations]

I think I've done it!!! It looks right, according to the instructions. The soul glass has something swirling inside of it. It seems incredibly impatient to get out, though. I hope I don't lose this one! Grandpa isn't sure, but I'm positive that I've caught the soul of a baku. I didn't have any nightmares for the rest of the night after first seeing the glow in the bottle. At first, my mind didn't really register it there, I was too tired from waking up after only sleeping a little bit! I'm so excited. I'm skipping lessons tomorrow!

Day 8 [Observations]

Either Dr. Kyou is psychic, or my grandfather called him. Today, I got another package, a special casing to protect and preserve the soul and soul bottle until Kyou's lap has space for the Raevan. I feel so impatient! I'm not too dissapointed though, it's a mildly long trip to the lab, and I hate cars.

Day 17 [Observations]

Grandpa and I just got back from the Matsuri! Oh my god! It was so cool! I got to see so many Raevans! They were all in Frei stage, but they were so different! I also won a fish, so I picked up a bowl for him to go into. Tangible Dream is acting a little odd since the festival. It glows with even weirder colors! And when I look in it now, I started seeing the people from the festival. It's actually kind of facinating. Oh, and melon, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream mixed is really good!

I hope to see everyone I saw at the festival again, very soon!

Day 30 [Observations]

Grandpa has left the care of my soul completely up to me. It has become a habit for me to check it often. It seems a little more blue lately. Maybe it's lonely, or maybe it can just tell that I wish it could come out already.

Day 46 [Observations]

I think by now, I'm a bit restless. I'm having a bit more troubles sleeping lately without a baku in the house to eat my bad dreams. Heh, I can bearly write on this piece of paper. I'm really losing it, I know. I'm still so excited though. I've started to think of names, too.

Day 51 [Observations]

I've made arrangements to go drop off my soul bottle and vial with Grandpa. I wish cars didn't make me feel sick. I'm a bit nervous how a Baku Raevan will actually look. I hope it isn't that scary. Personally, I wish Baku were a bit more feline, although they do have tiger and lion influences. After talking with Grandpa, he decided it would be okay if we just mailed the bottle and vial back, since the container Dr. Kyou sent us was safe.

It still makes me uneasy, but I agreed.

So, today, we mailed the baku soul bottle, and tangible dream essence back to Dr. Kyou. I hope I get a phone call soon, or a letter saying how they're doing. It's been gone one day and I already feel a bit sad. I'm kind of attached to my bottle and vial these days. I'm used to checking on them.

Renhei was as nervous as he was excited when he arrived at Gambino. It had entirely been his choice to be put into boarding school to be closer to the lab, closer to his raevan and other owners, but it didn't mean he wasn't a bit scared about being on his own. He'd also never been into a public or private school before, so he was a little uneasy about school life -- and especially about the thought he might have to take his Raevan with him to school when that time came. The silver haired boy carried with him a suitcase of his things, and a small map of Gambino.

He turned at the appointed street signs, passing a marketplace, a bank. "1201... . 1204.... 1206. There." He looked up at the building, Gambino Private School. He had been by the lab once, so he knew it was within walking distance from here and had chosen this school for exactly that reason.

As he stepped up the steps towards the school, many things ran through his mind. He had finally chosen a name for his soon-to-be frei. The name was Nue. He wasn't quite sure if it was a boy or a girl name, but it sounded interesting and he only hoped that it fit. He was quickly growing attached to it.

Renhei left the Admittance Office a little under an hour later, all his classes, his papers. "Math? I have to take math?" He questioned to himself, heading towards his room, which he now shared with another student. Renhei sighed. "Nue is never learning math if I have to teach it.." He chuckled to himself, tucking the paper away.

Day 186 [Observations]

My journal feels a bit empty. I haven't been by the lab in awhile, and I hope everything with my soul and essence is going well. I'm more worried now that the black in the essence vial might be spreading or more dangerous as time passes. Then I started to daydream at school and wonder if the baku was starving to death, even as a soul, from not getting enough dreams. Wahh! I'm so worried!
