BDSaint13 I_saw_the_Light! I agree with what you said about "everything in moderation." Make sure that video games aren't taking the place of God on your list of priorities. And try to control how often and how long you play. I have a DS too, and I often have the same problem with Metroid Prime Hunters DS. It is so fun, and I could just play it all day. But I know I shouldn't because that would take time away that I could use to spend time with God. I also can get angry, and have found myself swearing a few times when I lose to a person who I find "cowardly". (Though I realize that he/she wasn't really a coward, and I play the same as him/her, etc.) Overall, just try to make sure that God is first in your life, and that video games isn't taking time away that you could spend with Him. biggrin This is exactly what i've come to realize in my life overall. Glad you can sum it up like that. I basiclaly don't find them horribly wrong, I basically wonder if their is somethign else God wants me to be doing. Well, just think about it. Next time you're playing video games, think about this. Have you read your bible recently (as in within the last 24 hours)? Have you prayed recently? Have you gone online to be with your christian friends on gaia lately? If you haven't done those things lately (especially reading the bible and praying) you might want to go and do those preferably before you play. I need to work on this also, so you're not alone. 3nodding

sk8er061191 BDSaint13 What does the Bible say on them? I'm not quiet sure, the only thing that I know of is "Everything in Moderation" I'm playing my DS, i think it makes me slightly angry. I definately get tense for sure. What do you think? any verses? I may possibly give up video games for good if I am throughly convinced. I don't know though Starting work soon so I may be able to get away from playing to much, but as of right now I've got nothing to do after 5.... As long as it doesn't turn it idolisation, it's fine. Anger is a normal (pointless but normal) emotion. I would not say pointless. After all, our Father has gotten Anger at times and Jesus was anger at the fact they turn our Father's house into a den of theives.

But that's a rightous anger. I think skBer061191 was talking about your everyday anger which basically is pointless. Trust me, getting angry and fustrated over something so small is not only pointless but doesn't solve anything. It just blocks up your mind and stops you from thinking straight.

LittlePinky82 Video games are fine. It's all up to you and your personal opinions on the type of games you prefer. Yep Yep! In fact, some gaming companies actually use christian aspects to create games! (It's really neat to find comparisons b/w verses and character's lines!) In terms of whether if you should quite, it depends upon where it scales on your priorities list. Maybe you should have a timer or something to limit yourself every now and then. It sounds really stupid but it works after awhile. You can even pray about it, considering the gaming habit sounds like an addiction, right? So GOOD LUCK! mrgreen

man...been ages since ive posted in this forum........so ill just jump in real quick and be breif with my opinion.
Games are not evil unless its a game titled "How to Become a Satanist" only THEN would i worry....
but god its not just games.......its the MEDIA around us. tv shows, movies, adult entertainment...man i hear endless ranting on games being the target for influening people in specific ways. as was already mentioned, if the game makes you angry...yeah we ALL get frustrated. ive had my share.
but since we're on the subject of influence, yeah its bad if you start idolizing games before god.....but satan is also an issue. Satan is the father of lies and will use the smallest of things to influence us in the smallest of ways. so yeah there could be a possiblity that he uses video games to influence us in SOME way, even if it isnt that big. I mean ouija boards is a game.......and look at the destruction it brings for those who use it.
honestly? its situational

So you are talking about justful anger. Having anger for a just reason. Like if a parent got mad at their child for doing wrong and corrected them out of love. If it is causeless or excessive it can become sinful or least cuase you to sin.

Now, I'm a gamer. K? I like games, and I can usually be found on XBox Live. I play Halo, and I'm an active member of Red Versus Blue's site, Roosterteeth.com. Now that that's out of the way, I don't beleive that videogames are evil, I beleive that if you play for and hour or two once in a while, it's fine, not a sin, and even healthy. I also beleive that if you become like this guy ( This does contain foul language, but is very interesting to watch)....it's not healthy. And no, that's NOT me. So, don't be like him, be like me. Be cool about videogames.

Yeah I'm a gamer. I've even joined a community of gamers in my state. We often meet up every 2 months to have an xbox lan from 10am to 10:30pm! I've discovered it is a great way to get to know new people and form a good "healthy" relationship with them. Alot of them are decent people and it is not too often you come across people who act inappropriately. Those that do don't stay in the community for long. Unfortunately I don't have XBL yet. Otherwise I'd keep an eye out for you.
So as you can see, I'm not at all against video games in general. Though there would be a few that I'd stay clear from. Grand theft auto being one, but that just my opinion.
Oh and...go Halo! The Rooster Teeth crew rock, as does Bungie. (Notice they are doing Halo 3 now? The last of the trilogy they say.) whee

Anger is not a sin. Even God gets angry sometimes. What is a sin is what might come from your anger like cussing, cursing, rebellion, or defiance. If you hurl your video game out the window, that dosn't seem very God led. It all depends on how much you're willing to risk. Will you put yourself into possible sin just for mindless entertainment. If it has only gone as far as anger I would say your fine, but if it causes you to sin the Gods word telld uds to flee from temptation.
