My overall feelings about E3 come down to this:
Top performer: Nintendo. Wii? Ok, after this performance I'm more than happy with the name change. They changed the name and kept moving. Coming onto the market with a possible 200 dollar pricetag (Maybe even less as the rumors continue) it will be the most affordable console. Nintendo is well known for its affordability. So there's a plus right there. That and they have one hell of a launch lineup with TONS of great games on the horizon. The Wii has a great capability of being the most popular new system. And the great thing is, they don't even consider it next gen! I would say that this is Nintendo's chance to regain ground that they lost during the Gamecube era for being 'too kiddy' and by getting such a stereotype, losing key customers. Nintendo has set themselves up for a terrific holiday season. Kudos to you Nintendo, the light is coming back.
2nd place: Sony. Strong software coming out for launch titles and plenty of GORGEOUS games that they put out there. Namely, Final Fantasy 13 and Metal Gear Solid 4. Backwards compatibility with the PS2 and possible rom software for the PS1 games, wireless controllers and other goodies in store, Sony came out of the gate strong. However, the crap hit the fan when they made that price announcement. As soon as they did, everything else seemed to become more null and/or void considering the price. This caused Sony's popularity to drop tremendously. However, I think that more gamers are beginning to understand and come to terms with the large pricetag. However, announcing that price now caused a hinderance on their performance. Other than that though, strong showing by Sony.
Last place: Microsoft. Microsoft ran most of its showing on Gears of War and Halo 3. Sorry, Halo is cool and all but that trailer and the Gears of War info did not beat out a combination of FF13, MGS 4 or even the SSBB trailer by itself. Some more software announcements, mostly things about XBOX live sets...but for the most part Microsoft's showing in comparison to Sony and Nintendo was not nearly as strong.
E3 2k6 winner (imho): Nintendo.

Ill agree MS didnt present enough juicy info, however, they still convinced me to get a 360. I'll say it again, I'm super hyped for Gears of War. After watching Cliffy B play that level, I'm sold. LiveArcade and live anywhere are awsesome, especially the fact that Live Anywhere is coming to Vista. It will be awesome to talk with people online while im playing games on either the PC or 360.

FanFicGuru My overall feelings about E3 come down to this: Top performer: Nintendo. 2nd place: Sony. Last place: Microsoft. E3 2k6 winner (imho): Nintendo. ^_^ Agreed on all points with Nintendo, and might I add that after the SSBB announcement, a lot of people (from what I saw) said they're getting a Wii for that game.
Sony: They came in as the top-dog, but with the announcement of the price tags and their controller, a lot of people and developers like Ubisoft were kind of iffy. But yeah, aside from that, Final Fantasy 13 and Metal Gear Solid 4, ******** win. I also am interested in seeing more information on the card game they had during their press conference, that looked really awesome.
Microsoft: I can't blame Microsoft for having a weaker performance than Sony and Nintendo, what with the 360 being out, that could only bring gaming and other news to the front. Regardless, the announcement of Halo 3 was big, although I think most people were expecting it, and Gears of War looks so fecking awesome.
My overall E3 impression: I definately thought this was more exciting than E3 '05, a lot more things were accomplished like gameplay with the Wii, the power of the PS3, Gears of War and Halo 3 for the 360. Hopefully the final day tomorrow will prove to have a lot more exciting announcements.

And apparently on first reading I missed that a Fire Emblem game had been confirmed for the Wii.
That settles it; a Wii is for me.

And thus, we close yet another year of E3, very exciting year for all companies.
In Metal Gear Solid news, the new PSP action-adventure game Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is now on the list of games I want for the PSP, along side with, Megaman X: Maverick Hunter and Breath of Fire III. Apparently MGS razz O will be the missing link to the Outer Heaven arc and sequel to Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, both Snake and Major Zero are under charges of treason and the only way to prove their innocence is to cooperate with the government, they have two objectives:
1. Get rid of the radical group, FOX. 2. Destroy the, "ultimate weapon."
However, Snake can't do it alone this time. You must recruit members in the game, and so far it seems, from the trailer, Ocelot and Eva are playable and will be on your team. Moreover, it seems you can recruit players online to use, so I'm thinking the online is co-op multiplayer.
I'm downloading the HD trailer, and will slap it up on Putfile or YouTube (if I end up condensing the file to 100mb) for all of you to see.
-------------------------------------------
For Psy and fans of Phoenix Wright: I also download the trailer to, Phoenix Wright 2: Justice for All and will upload that to YouTube once it comes in.

L0k1 So it seems so far, Microsoft had everything riding on Halo 3 and Gears of War, and, in my opinion, those games are worth it. That's all there is too it. Two games make a console worth buying do not. I'll admit that Gears looks really good, and Halo 3 will be welcome in my home, I don't yet see much that makes me truely want a 360, but then again I'm used to there being another couple of years before the "next gen" happens. Right now, the 360 just seems like an X-box on steroids. As of right now, the PSP is my platform of choice due the the great games that are starting to hit the market for it, and I have a feeling I'll be playing these games for years to come. Also, for me over all, the next gens seem sort of lack luster on a whole. Yes, the graphics are shiny, but other than the Wii, there doesn't seem to be much going on that hasn't been done before. When I see the developers actually creating things that are a cut above the mark, I'll start to look into things care more. Speaking of the Wii, I'm a little iffy. Most of the hands on reviews that I've read on the Wiimote weren't the best, especially with the fact that the motion detectors and IR features being used seperately and not together for more precision. This coupled with the fact that, if you stand too close to the television you're playing the game on, there are some serious isses with the IR control. On the flip side of this though, is the fact that the big N has basically said that the E3 Wiimotes are basically working prototypes, so there are improvements that have yet to be made that could really bring the idea to life. I'm reserving my final judgement on the Wii for when it's been out for a while, and the Wiimote games start to get creative. The PS3 has be balking though, at the price being just crazy insane, especially when the Sony execs say that it may be "too cheap"! I hate to say it, but MGS4 and the other offerings don't make me want to sell half of my electronics to play them. I sadly may have to miss out on Snake's final mission.
