Well, to give it credit, I did watch the movie and I loved the music. The orchestra was wonderful- simply wonderful. Exactly what I'd have expected from Andrew Lloyd Webber. heart
However, I'm rather pissed over the fact that there were a few differences between the movie and the musical (I shall not compare it to the book, as it would end up with me listing PAGES of differenes), especially in Erik. He wasn't especially as dramatic as I hoped that he'd be- he was more- what's the best word- emo. Not good.
Still, it had its good points. Carlotta and Monsieurs Armand and Firmin were extreme love. heart

I though the movie was beautiful visually but I was disappointed by much of the singing. I found that both Christine and the Phantom did a poor job on "Phantom of the Opera" and truthfully the only one I felt the Phantom did well was "Past the Point of No Return."
Of course part of this was due to listening to recordings of Michael Crawford aka THE Phantom and seeing it live in Toronto. There was a substitue that night and we got lucky, I don't know how good the regular was but we got Michael Burgess. The man is absolutly haunting, I can still hear his voice today more than ten years later. That to me is a good Phantom, a man with a very haunting voice, he just give you chills to hear.

yep, that movie was awesome, although I'd kill to watch the play stare

I love the music from this movie but I loved it before the movie come to cinemas. I'm always sad that phantom didn't win heart of his love. He is so much better than Eric. Every time I see opera and movie I hope that this time it will end diffrently smile

Wiedziemka I'm always sad that phantom didn't win heart of his love. He is so much better than Eric. ...Isn't the Phantom Erik? How can he be better than himself? eek I believe the name you're searching for is 'Raoul'?

Whoops sorry I think about Raoul but I have so bad memory that I mix them up ^^'. So Raoul in previous post is Eric and Phantom is Phantom smile

I just could not get into that movie. I love musicals but this one just was not for me.
