Tara dug around on her desk, during one of the few naps that Aysel took. It had to be there somewhere. Aha! The young woman blew dust off the top of the middling sized leather bound book. Amazing how much dust could accumulate in just a few days.

Fondly Tara looked at the travel journal, part of an enchanted set of books. What she wrote in one appeared in the other and vice versa. Taking the styles from the books binding she began to write.

Journal
Leia,

It's been a long time since I had a chance to read this, or respond. The most amazingly wonderful and frustrating thing happened and it's kept me away.

Your dear sister, the one that swore never to have a child and simply spoil all of your's, has a beautiful daughter.

Before you go crazy and try to hunt down the father, it's not quite what you think. There is a company called D-corp. They take children and splice the DNA with other animals! And all to ride dragons.

I know exactly what you're saying right now and if you dare write any of it, I'm telling Mother. I feel exactly the same way, but I can't exactly do anything about it. They found out.

How the hell they found out, I don't know. I never did anything, never went without the locket. Nothing. I've acted perfectly human, but somehow they found out. They didn't even know what they found but I can't risk it. I have to play along. Big beautiful green wings with coral eyes on them. Simply gorgeous.

She's more like a caterpillar now though. Just a toddler.. She's got green skin, with these little red dots all down her side. Four arms and the softest blond hair.

She's a sweetheart. The first day home it took everything to simply pry her away from me. Every night she refuses to go to bed unless I lay down with her. If I try to put her down she'll lay there for a moment before trying to climb out of bed, to follow me with that lost puppy look.

Most of the time she's really wonderful. She likes my mage room. I had to lock that after the first time she and her friend Alaqua got in there. Ever try to play tag around magical items? Not fun at all. It's only when Alaqua's around that she really plays games like that. Or maybe it's around other kids. I don't know, I haven't taken her out much yet. Most of the time she likes looking at the picture books I got her or having me read to her.

I need to get some more toys for her to play with. Perhaps one of 'Lin's old dolls? She might find those fun to play with. Play dishes, puzzles, maybe I'll install a tire swing.

Yeah, yeah. I know. Just picture your bookworm of a sister installing a tire swing. Well, I need to go. Aysel's nap time is all too short and I'm still afraid she'll get into something she shouldn't.

Until next time, your sister,

Tara

PS. I think I'm going to let Aysel use this as a journal when she gets older. A nice way to get to know her Aunt Leia no?

Journal
Erm. Yeah. Tara, it's not nice to make your sister faint like that. Or at all. Yikes, that'll be one nasy bump.

Oh. This is Rei by the by. I think Lei-chan managed an "ack" before promptly falling out of her chair, and bumping her head on the way down. Did I mention it's not nice to make your sister faint? Bad Tara. I know that you can see me scolding you, and I also know that it has little to no effect on you, so think of Garr shaking a finger...nevermind that. Think of your Master glowering at you.

Anyway. You have a what? With who? And what? What do you mean "they found out."? What's going on down there? YOU have a WHAT??

Argh, you've got some explaining to do, Missy.

Get back to us soon. I'll work with Leia and her bump. Which is ENTIRELY your fault. Naughty Tara.

And did you swear? Gods. The world IS ending. Tara swearing, Lei-chan passing out, etcetera...

The shriek had to have been heard over on the next plane, to say nothing of the entire building. A teal haired woman winced as she hurried out of the building to the awaiting silver oval. For the first day of school, and the first real seperation of the two, it wasn't going so bad. ...Honestly...

By the time Tara returned at the end of the day, the building was quiet. Stomach turning over and over the mage made her way to the classroom where she had left the luna moth child.

It was still quiet when she approached the door. With trepidation she slowly turned the handle and peeked inside. Aysel was happily flipping through a book in a tiny fold out chair. For a moment the young woman simply watched the toddler.

Eventually Aysel looked up. "MOMMY!" A shriek, of joy this time, rang out as the toddler threw down her book and scampered to her mother. "Mommy! Mommy! 'ook!" the little girl pointed to a stack of paper's on the one of the tables with her uppper arm. Printed in large neat, adult, letters was Aysel's name. The top one was colored, rather messily, in.

Aysel's teacher, one Miss Kat, came over at that moment. The two woman conversed over Aysel and the class. Finally the two headed home.

The days passed and slowly a routine began between the two. Every morning Tara would wake Aysel up to a bowl of warm oatmeal, usually drenched in maple syrup or honey. The toddler simply refused to eat it otherwise. Tara would then proceed to make Aysel's lunch. The first time was a rather bland lettuce sandwhich, the mage having nothing else that the vegetarian child would eat.

Aysel would play happily with her to toys, or practice the 'A', 'B' and 'C' she had learned during class. Then the two would set off to D-corp for her classes. Though she didn't say so to the toddler, Tara was disgruntled by this, wanting nothing more to do with that place.

After the first few times, Aysels screech of rage and hurt finally died down to a bit of clinging and a few tears. Which, as Tara heard, were soon over with. Then class would end and Tara would come pick up the girl. The two would go out somewhere and have lunch. Either the park or the mall, just out and about.

Eventually they would head home and spend the rest of the day until bed. It was in the late afternoon of such a day that Tara finally dug out the coloring sheets and a box of markers. With a frown she contemplated them, trying to figure out the best way to keep the house and child relatively clean. Eventually the mage spent some of her precious energy to enchant both markers and paper, ensuring the ink would only go on the paper. Sitting back, the young woman took a deep breath, forcing away the start of a headache.

Aysel was happily playing with her dollies, reading to them out of a book her mommy had gotten her when she heard her name called from down stairs. Putting her book down, and tucking the baby doll into bed she hurried out of her room and down the stairs. In the sunny kitchen her mommy sat waiting for her, bucket and some papers at the table. With some help the toddler climbed onto the chair and sat down in the booster seat.

"Now, we're going to learn the rest of our alphabet," Mommy said, drawing the bucket closer.

Aysel finished coloring the page and giggled as Mommy's stomach gave a gurgling noise. Quite a few of the papers were finished and it was growing dark outside. "'Upper 'ime!" the girl giggled. Mommy laughed along with her and stood up, putting the sheets away.

It was after dinner this time when Aysel was called back to the kitchens. Sure enough a fresh set of papers and a bucket of markers, suitably enchanted awaited the eager toddler. "'Etters!" Aysel nearly jumped up and down. She loved coloring the sheets with her mommy and she could recognize some of the letters in the books she had. It made her curious as to what else they meant.

With a giggle Tara lifted Aysel, spun her around and sat her down in the booster seat. Grabbing the first marker she could she waited for her mommy to point out each letter.

"Now that you know the alphabet.. Let's start making some words," Tara said gently taking a teal marker from the box. "Let's start with A for apple." Carefully Tara wrote out in large block letters 'apple'. "A-P-P-L-E. Apple. Now B for Bat." She continued through the alphabet writing one word for each letter as Aysel watched with bated breath. So that's what books were for. Not just pretty pictures but it told you stuff too.

By the time the worked through the words Aysel was feeling pretty confident that she had successfully learned how to read. Up until her mommy wrote something new. She stared at the new word for a moment as her mommy spoke. "This time I want you to tell me what the letters are," Mommy said quietly pointing at the first one.

"....Ah..A?" Aysel said hesitantly. "...Y," that was one of the new ones," ..S...E....L" She completed finally, looking to see what it meant.

"Aysel," Mommy completed, running her fingre under the letters. "That's how you write your name. You try."

Grasping her green marker Aysel shaking copied the letters, messing up only on the 'S'.

After a few more practices with the letters the two continued on to the last lesson of the day. A new sheet was set down in front of her. "This is how you write your numbers," Tara pointed at the first one, "One."

Aysel muttered to herself holding up her fingers. "Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten." Mommy chuckled before shaking her head a bit.

"Those are right. But we have to learn what they look like on paper now. Let's color them in as we go."

The numbers went much quicker than the letters did. Knowing what they were called and how much each one was helped a lot when you were working on numbers. Soon it was done and time for dessert, than bed.

Aysel sat once more at the kitchen table, pouring over a book. A wrinkle of concentration was between her brows and the girl slowly moved her red marker over the page.

Aysel's Journal
Dear Journal. Mommy gave me you. Say to prtaci practice words. Went to baech, water scary. Mommy said no, but me and 'Yan plaie. Mommy mad, talkd at me. Don like water. Gonna stay away now.

-Aysel
Happily the little girl signed her name and put it back in her room before heading back down to dinner.

It was early the next morning before Aysel looked at the journal the next. She had simply intended to admire her writing, and all the big words she had used. Flipping open the cover to her page the toddler suddenly screamed.

Leia
??? Who is this and what have you done with my sister? Tara, if you're reading this, you'd best start explaining. No contact for this long and then you start writing in gibberish?? *fume*

"MOMMY!" the toddler shrieked, pointing at the new words. Her mommy skidded into the room at a dead run.

"What's wrong?!" The words were blurted out before her mommy could see the book. Taking the journal she thrusted it towards Mommy. Who started chuckling. "That's you're Aunt Leia writing you back. She can't visit us so... Do you want me to read it to you?" Aysel considered the book with an upset look, not sure if she would want to talk to the book. Sniffling she looked up at her mommy. Well if mommy wasn't upset by it...

"I 'an 'ead," she said, pulling the book back. With a plop she settled down on the floor to puzzle out the words. With a smile her mommy sat down next to her.

Mail was a surprising thing. Particularly when it wasn't some junk advertisement or spam left by idiots who had nothing better to do that find some half-hidden house and pester the occupants. No..Tara did not often get mail. It surprised her then when on stepping out to the porch to water some plants, the mage found a crisp white envelope sitting in front of her door.

Recognition hit her on the gut when she bent down to pick it up and read the single word printed on it, "Aysel". The parrallels were too similar to be anything but a coincidence. Plain envelope, mysteriously delivered to her doorstep with the same style of writing. D-corp.

The few years of association with D-corp had not lessened Tara's intense dislike of the company. Still fuming that they had managed to find the one secret large enought to blackmail her into staying, Tara had kept her contact with it to a minimum. Niki, that boy from the beach, and taking Aysel to classes had been all she'd kept up with. The minimum of her promise.

Taking the letter inside (and completely forgetting her plants. Perhaps that was why they were half-dead..), Tara briefly considered opening and reading her daughter's mail.

"AYSEL!" The mage called upstairs, projecting her voice without screaming. Useful talent that. Came in handy when yelling for one's older brother who was missing (again) somewhere in the castle.

With a quick clatter down the stairs Aysel came, still holding onto the book she was working on reading. In a rare fit of independence the luna moth had insisted she was going to learn how to read it all by herself, without her mom's help.

As she came over Tara bent over and with a swing, picked her up. "You got mail, sweetling," Tara meantioned handing the letter over. Swiftly shifting her book to another arm Aysel tugged open the unsealed envelope and took out the letter inside.

A child is expected to know certian things at certian ages.
In order to obtain rights to their Dragon(egg), they must prove they can meet these requirements.

The following sheet is for your child to fill out, with mild help from their guardian, then sent back to D-corp. (PM ot the mule)

Also any changes, even minor such as haircuts, should be reported to the D-corp to be logged and filed.

Thankyou,
The Boss.

Two sheets of paper were tucked inside. Silently ghosting over the words she didn't understand, Aysel started trying to read the letter. After skipping over to the end she handed it casually to her mother and tugged out the second sheet. A pleased sound escaped as Aysel realized that the words here were much easier, ones she was expected to know.

Tara read the letter silently, one eyebrow raising in surprise. True Aysel's birthday was just around the corner, but she was pretty young to be taking care of a dragon egg. With a sort of shrug she set Aysel down. "Go on into the kitchen and I'll fetch the markers. You need to fill that out to be able to see your dragon egg."

Aysel hurried to the kitchen, carefully placing her book and papers on the table before climbing into her seat. Carefully making sure she was seated properly Aysel waited for her mommy to get back. It wasn't too long before Tara returned with the bucket of markers. As Aysel had improved in her staying in the lines the enchantment had stopped making it's appearance. Setting the markers in front of Aysel, Tara managed to keep from chuckling as the girl unerringly picked out her lime green marker.

"Name:" The luna moth spelled out slowly before carefully writing her name. A pause of dissapointment entered as Aysel realized she wrote the 'S' backwards but the four year old pressed on.

"A G E...Ahgee? Age!" Counting on her fingers, Aysel wrote in the four.

"Fa...v..o..r..it..e?" "Favorite," came the quiet correction. Aysel nodded and continued reading off the next word. "Color" The girl happily wrote down green. It was the same wonderful color as her skin!

The next one though.."B-est..Friend?" She paused thoughtfully. "Mommy?" She pondered out loud.

A pleased chuckle left Tara. "No, Aysel. Mommy's family. You need to pick one of your friends." A puzzled frown creased the luna moth's forehead. 'La then? But 'La's mommy was her Aunt Niki...So wasn't 'La family too? It had to be 'Yan then. Even if she had gotten in trouble over that incident, he was still really fun. And his nose looked like a worm!

"Yan!" Aysel wrote down quickly, guessing at how to spell his name. Tara shook her head and quickly wrote down the boy's full name underneath, for clarities sake. D-corp was not going to have any excuse to deny Aysel her egg.

User Image

"Allright, you can go back to playing if you want. Mommy has to finish writing the people a note." Aysel shook her and simply took up her book, quietly voicing the words and letters.

Dear D-corp
To Whom it May Concern:

As per your request here is an update concerning Aysel ****** (Actais Luna). Aysel is a wonderful child and I can not honestly say I have any problems with her. She is, mostly, obedient, cheerful, quiet and affectionate. She has her moments of stubborn defiance but most toddlers are far worse about "No" than she is. Ever since she started learning words she's been most insistent on learning how to read. She's displayed a rare streak of independence in this, not wanting my help.

Aysel does not stay upset very long, and it never lasts longer than a nap. She's also very affectionate and clingy, greeting her teacher and classmates with hugs every day and leaving them with the same. She also loves to snuggle with me and her dollies.

As for the physical changes, not much has occured beyond the natural growth. Her hair has gotten longer and though I've kept it neatly trimmed, its now too long to keep pulled out of her face. To keep it out of her face we part it in the middle and pin the long backs back away from her face.

She's long since outgrown the jumper she came in, and it has been replaced with a red short-sleeved patterned culotte*. Aysel perfers to go barefoot, what child doesn't, but she's content to wear sock and shoes as long at the shoes aren't lace up.

I am however, a little concerned. Lately I've been finding short brownish grey fibers in her bed. They almost remind me of a rough silk. There's not a lot and it's never all at once, but I am concerned. I'm not sure what to expect.

Sincerely, Tara S. ****** class="clear">

After Aysel had been put to bed, and was firmly asleep, Tara went back down stairs. Putting the two letters inside the same envelope, the mage let a small evil smile flit on her lips. If they thought it was funny leaving such things on her door step than it wouldn't be a problem if she did the same.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 27, 2006 11:00 pm

It really did seem like yesterday that Tara had brought Aysel home from D-corp. Of course considering the ratio of human to Neptunian years and the speed at which Aysel had grown..it practically was to the mage.

For the past several weeks, grey brown threads had been appearing on Aysel's bed. Though she had meantioned it to D-corp in her letter the mage had yet to hear anything back. She simply assumed it was needless worrying, a strange side effect of splicing human DNA with an animals.

The day dawned bright and cheery, not a week after Aysel's fifth birthday. Like most days Tara got up long before her daughter, cleaning and getting things done in the early morning hours. After putting the oatmeal to warm on the stove the mage headed upstairs.

"Good morning Aysel! Time to rise and-" The woman called out as she entered the room. A gurgle of fear cut off the rest of her words as Tara mutely surveyed the brown lump that had replaced her daughter.

Aysel rolled over, blinking sleep out of her eyes. She had been dreaming that someone was tucking a soft warm blanket around her and gently rocking her. For a long moment she smiled sleepily at her mommy before the strangeness of the situation hit her.

"Mommy? Mommy, what's wrong?" The girl asked brows furrowing with worry.

"Sweetling..I need to make you a doctor's apointment with D-corp," her mommy said, worry reflecting in her own eyes. "I'm sure you're fine though.."

Asyel swallowed. "'hy?" she demanded looking down at her self. A shriek rang out through the house stirring the few cats that lived there. "'et 't 'ff! 'et 't 'ff! 'ommy!" the girl screeched, flopping her hand up and down in an attempt to shake the silk off. Horrified Aysel watched her hand, the icky stuff that covered up the pretty green skin underneath refusing to let go.

With a sob she started to try and tear the stuff off with her other hand. It was horrible, it was icky, it had to get off her! Before she could do herself damage, her mom's hand covered her.

"No." the woman said firmly. "I don't want to see you picking at this. I'm going to write D-corp. We'll see the doctor. Until then, you leave it alone. Picking at it could cause you damage."

Whimpereing Aysel looked up at her mommy. "But--" The look in her mommies eye's hardened and Aysel remembered the last time she disobeyed her mommy. A stern lecture and something called 'grounding' had followed. She hadn't been able to play with any of her dollies or see 'La or 'Yan or anyone. She really didn't like that.... Reluctantly the child nodded.

With a smile and a kiss on the forehead, Mommy dissapeared downstairs. Aysel hopped out of bed, still in her nightgown and hurried to the bathroom. Clambering up awkwardly the luna moth finally made it up to the sink and looked at herself in the mirror.

The sight that came up would normally have made the girl giggle, a large dinasour stomping through a city. But Aysel was in no mood for jokes from the mirror. Giving it a kick, cry of pain swiftly muffled, she frowned as it slowly cleared to a normal mirror.

The child studied herself in the mirror, sniffling. She was ugly now... A little bit of green was left on her face and hands but the rest of her was a boring brown color. Slumping down on the sink Aysel cried.

Downstairs, Tara finished writing her letter. Sealing it up and getting ready to deliver it the thought entered her mind. They really needed a telephone.

Quote:

Dear D-corp,

My daughter has undergone a severe physical change. Since the corperation is the only place likely to know what is normal and what must be fixed immediately, I require a doctor's appointment.

Aysel is now covered with grey/brown ...stuff... It has even gotten in her hair. She seems to be feeling fine other than that.

I have been informed that she will be needing her shots soon as well. If it is possible, combining the two appointments would be preferable.

Sincerely, Tara S. ****** class="clear">

Though the silk wrapping is somewhat delicate it's much stronger than a normal cacoon would be. D-corp reasons this is due to the human DNA and that the cacoon's silk has mixed with what Humans would use to make scabs.
Aysel will continually get.. plumper throughout this stage. XD Though that's just due to the wings and whatnot, no one will know that >o> The cacoon will streach for this, until by 3rd stage it kinda.. bursts and starts flaking off.

Sitting up in her room Aysel dragged out the book her mother had given her.

Dear Journal
Today I woke up and something wrong had happened. My pretty green skin is now covered with this icky brownish stuff. It's all layered and looks horrible. I used to be so pretty! Now I'm ugly and gross and I don't know who would want to play with me.

Mommy wrote to the doctor and we got an appointment. When we went I had to get shots too. The needle was really long and shiney but it didn't hurt at all! That made me mad, but the doctor gave me fudge. It was really really good. Since I was such a good girl, Mommy said I could get a new toy. When we went to the mall I met this boy who's tail moved and did stuff. He thought it was boring and stuff. Silly boy. Tail's are cool! I finally got a dollie and Mommy bought me a moth to show what I'm going through. I still don't like it but Mommy said that I'm gonna grow pretty wings and I just need to be patient. I guess I have to.

The boy did say somthing smart! He told me I should paint my skin. I think I'm going to look around in Mommy's room and see if I can find any paint. Maybe Mommy will help me. Do you think that's a good idea? Maybe I can be pretty again.

It had been a long day. A very very long day. First was the doctors appointment that Aysel had practically thrown a fit over. Then, researching exactly what a moth was, perhaps something they should have done a while ago, then the mall for a little treat.

With a happy sigh, the two finaly returned home. Running ahead of her mommy Aysel slapped her hand agaist the front door. For a moment, the sheilds hummed before dissapaiting. The door changed color to a gentle blue, a feature Tara had added in with great trouble. At least now Aysel would be able to tell if the house was open or not. Leaving her mom to bring in the rest of the items, Aysel pushed the door open, eyes on her caterpillar and not the hallway in front of her. Aysel was not the luckiest girl when it came to wandering around without looking.

As earlier, the luna moth ran straight into another person. A warm fuzzy person that wasn't supposed to be in the shielded house. Letting out a shriek (Aysel was really getting good at those) the luna moth dropped her new pet's carrying case. "MOMMY! SOMEONE'S IN THE HOUSE!" She screeched, not seeing the man's wince.

"Can it. She can hear you just fine," the man muttered crossing his arms. "I'm...," he paused muttering to himself, "This is starting to get old..." Raising his voice again, "you're Uncle Rei."

Tara rushed into the room, shopping bags forgotten. "Aysel! What's wro- Oh, hello Rei. I'm so glad you got to come visit!" The mage hugged her foster brother, who suffered through the affection.

Seeing her mom act so warmly towards the intruder, Aysel picked up the caterpillar they bought and stared warily at the Worren. "Mommy?" She asked uncertainly. The only family her Mommy had ever talked about was Aunt Niki and Alaqua and Reign.

Stepping back from her brother Tara smiled at Aysel. "Sweetling, this is your Uncle Rei. He's my foster brother. I think he's written to you once or twice."

Rei waved awkwardly at Aysel. "Sorry for scaring you," he muttered. "Tara, I'm not staying for long. You're mother wasn't too thrilled on letting me visit. And Leia wasn't able to get away at all."

Tara nodded, changing the subject. "Well, I need to bring the rest of the things in and then start on supper. Aysel, why don't you show Uncle Rei your room and show him around?" Uneasily, Aysel nodded at her mom. Tara smiled and left.

Uneasily Aysel smiled at Uncle Rei. With a sigh the Worren dragged a hand through his long hair. "I'm not going to bite. Just came to see how your mom was doing," he muttered, about as uneasy as Aysel.

Aysel nodded slowly. "'kay. 'ome 'ee my 'oom?" she offered as her mom said. Her uncle nodded.

----

It was some time later when they finally sat down to dinner. As Aysel dug into her food, salad of course, she never noticed the odd glances sent between her mom and Uncle Rei. Finally though the silence got to the luna moth and she glanced up.

"Mommy? 'omething wrong?" she asked quietly not wanting to disturb the silence. A distracted shake of her mom's head brought the attention back to Aysel.

"No sweetling, nothing's wrong. I was just remebering with Uncle Rei." Aysel just nodded, paying attention to her food for a few minutes. Silence fell over the table once again, as just the sounds of food being consumed covered the table.

"Mommy?" Aysel interuppted again. "Why 'aven't I met anyone else? Like Aunty Leia?" Glancing over at her mom the girl shut her mouth quickly. Regret flashed through her and she glanced down at her plate. "Sorry..." she mumbled, not entirely sure what she had done wrong.

Reaching over and squeezing Aysel's hand her mom shook her head, banishing the pain from her face. "No.. I just miss them and I wish I could take you to see them. Aunt Leia, Aunt Lyne.. She's not much older than you really.. And Uncle Mathew, oh he'd make you laugh like nothing has before..." Tara glanced at Rei, who just nodded. The unspoken support was all that was needed though.

Slowly her mom undid the clasp of the locket and drew it off. With a strange shimmer the illusion fled, like water running away from oil. Sans Ala's birthday and Halloween, Tara had never taken the illusion off her, and both those times Aysel had assumed her mom had dressed up. Sittling up with her mouth open the girl stared.

A chuckle drifted over from Rei. "You're mom's not quite human. She's actually an undercover alien." Tara shot a glare at her foster brother.

The luna moth turned to her new uncle. "What... Like... a spy or something," she demanded. A quiet squeal escaped. "That's 'o cool!!! I can't wait to tell Ala and Teal and-- Oh... I can't tell 'nyone can I...." The cacoon girl's face fell. She had read a spy book or two and things always went badly for the spy when they were found out. The girl poked her fork at the steamed spinach as quiet fell over the table once again.

Finally she glanced up at Uncle Rei and her mommy. ".... What are you? And why 'hy can't I 'ver 'ee Aunty Leia..? 'hy can't we go visit them?"

It was her mom's turn to play with her food, avoiding her daughter's eyes. Like last time Uncle Rei spoke up with a roll of his eyes. "She's a Neptunian. Their.. similar to humans. Better built though the exacts are really boring. Not that much different."

Tara shot her brother a look and continued on. "As for your other question, it's very hard to create the pills that let me exist in these planetary conditions. It wouldn't be worth it to stop taking them, make some for you, and then reverse it to come back."

Aysel just blinked at her mom before looking towards Uncle Rei for a better explaination. The Worren simply shrugged. "Okay...I guess..." The family was quiet for the rest of dinner. After the dishes were done, Tara excused herself quietly.

Dear sister,

I am honestly stunned that I have time to sit down and write in this thing. Between Aysel and work, and now Rei.. Oy. I should fill you in on what's been going on.

I take it you heard about Aysel's big change. I've been feeling like a complete idiot about that. A cacoon! I never even considered the possibility that Aysel's new covering was from her DNA. I can only suppose she'll get wings after this. Aysel... freaked. As I'm sure you know. I'm sorry I put you through that. I'm not surprised you sent Rei.

Anyway, that's more or less old knews. Since he's been here, it's a godsend. Aysel adores him, I'm sure it has something to do with the fur. Although, Rei does seem to spend more of his time trying to avoid her than anything else. She's taken to hunting him down for stories, which he begrudingly tells. Aysel seems to be much better behaved than we were even with the stalking. It may be a miracle but she hasn't tried to touch his tail once.

He did help me dress Aysel up for Halloween. She was a mummy, not surprisingly. You heard about the boy at the mall? Seems like she's had that idea in her head for ages. Rei helped me paint the details onto Aysel's cacoon.

Halloween was.. such an interesting experience this year. Since I had Aysel we went to the D-corp's little trick-or-treat thing. We left early and as it turns out... the head of D-corp was murdered later that night. Too bad that doesn't free me to come home. Even without Aysel I'd still be stuck here until my research is finished. But I didn't learn about that until much, much, later.

Afterwards we went to a Halloween party where I was hit on by more than one human. Gross! It was quite possiblely the most disturbing thing I'd ever experienced. And Chaos-sama was there too! Turns out she's got a new job watching these experiments... Sounds just like her. Any excuse to meddle in someone elses life.

In the middle some weird old guy stood up and started talking about demons and how they need to be destroyed or what not and tried leading everyone in a prayer to God. Then someone accused him of kidnapping someone else and it was honestly the most exciting time I've had since I got here. Well, sans the birthday party.

I'll send Rei home in a few weeks. Aysel should be sufficiently drawn out of her funk by then. Thank you so much for meantioning it to him.

Love, Tara

Thankyou for all your hard work with us here at D-corp. Your child's dragon egg is near hatching, and we'd like to have you file another report on the progress of your child.

Enclosed is a sheet for them to fill out, you may help them. Also please include any and all changes in your child. Even the smallest detail may become of importance later on.

Another day, another letter! Wait.. Tara did a double take as she opened the door to check the weather. Another crisp envelope, D-corp wasn't taking any breaks. The mage bent down and brought it back inside. Setting it down on the table, Tara began to cook breakfast.

When Aysel came down for breakfast there was a white envelope waiting on her plate. "Mommy?" the girl asked. Her mommy turned around and placed the food on the table and nodded.

"That's for you sweetling," She said, "D-Corp needs you to fill it out. Your dragon will be hatching soon" She smiled, the smile disapppearing at her daughters face.

Aysel fiddled on with her food, brow furrowed. She had met so many cool dragons but... Would she even get along with it? "Mommy... Do you think... Do you think I'll get along with my dragon? What if it wants to go swimming? Or doesn't like me?"

Tara shut the stove off, before sitting down. Watching her daughter seriously the mage considered her words. "Asyel.. I love you dearly. D-corp would not go thorugh the trouble of pairing you with a dragon you can't stand." Tara watched her daughter's face carefully. "Even if it likes to play in the water and you don't.. Best friends don't have to have exactly the same tastes. You and I don't, but I still love you."

Slowly Aysel nodded, before tucking the envelope away to work on later.

~~~*~~~
Aysel finished the form quickly and made sure her mom had written her part of it too. Putting them back in the envelope the two hurried on towards D-corp. Hopefully they got it back before the dragon actually did begin to hatch!
Note
To whom it may concern;
It's that time again? Aysel has grown so much since our last update. As you know she's recently undergone her cacoon stage. This was a rather unsettling stage for both of us. After some rough times, and a newfound sense of self-conciousness, Aysel's doing much better now. At times she can still be a little reserved about meeting people but knowing she's looking her best seems to help her deal with it. This has turned into an intense interest in fashion and asthetics.
Her interests have also been slowly changing. She's been reading less and less, mostly books like the Babysitter'se Club. I'm a little worried on what she's learning about society from those, I don't want her to get preconcieved notions of how she should act.
As far as the physical changes, Aysel's hair has grown even longer. It's now down to the bottom of her shoulder blades and is still as straight and fine as ever. She likes to keep it pulled back with either a clip or wide silk hairband. She refuses to go outside the house without looking her best. This usually consits of a skirt and blouse combination, pulled together with tights and shiney black shoes. Aysel's also found the joy of accessories, bangles, earrings, and necklaces. She usually has several braclets and bangles on each hand, a necklace or two and clip-on earrings.
((I don't have anything specific in mind for Aysel at this stage. Whatever will look good with the wings and you feel like drawing))
Finally the holidays were over. With a heavy sigh Tara nearly collapsed onto her chair. Glancing over at the journal she made a face, but pulled it over. Time to write the family, with some rather...strange news. Taking the stylus out of the spine, she began to write.
Journal
Dear, Leia
Merry Christmas! I wish I was there with everyone. You should have gotten your presents by now. I hope you enjoyed them. They were just random knick-knacks I found around Gaia this year. Except for Mathew. He got a map..again. You'd think he'd be more careful with something that tells him where he is and where he's going. I still can't believe he managed to lose it.
Aysel and I spent her first Christmas together. She was so excited, I don't think there's a peice of wrapping paper left thats larger than my thumbnail. I wasn't sure she'd like what I got her but she seems happy with them.
Aysel herself got me this ornament, which hatched on New Years to reveal a tiny dragon. It's really cute, but a complete pain in the neck. It's not house trained yet and gets into everything.
In other news, have you ever heard of a dimension who's dieties are dying out? If I recall it sounded something like Tejohn, or beenahon. I know it's not much to go on but if you could please, please, please check it out. See if anyone has any records of this place. I haven't been able to find any information of it in this dimension so I assume...
Oh... And you might want to sit down. Or go get Peco. Either one works. Peco would probably be best seeing as this might concern him.
Gaia is a place rich for new dieties to move in. Apparently it's even become a place for dead dieties (how they die I don't know) to grow up. I have been 'choosen' to take care of one of these dieties.
All I know is that I've been killed (sort of) and now I have this blasted tacky chain around my neck that won't come off. Attached to it is some sort of relic thing. Have you head of Guild Wars? I haven't and the relic doesn't match anything in my research books. It's apparently connected to the god of Illusions from that place. Who will become an infant depending on me to take care of it.
I've tried to remove the relic, but it's definately held on by a holy power. Which even I can't do anything about unless certain conditions are met. And I sincerely doubt a relic could meet those conditions. The only thing I'm worried about is if it conflicts with Peco's claim on me. Or something...
I guess I have to go and actually get some baby toys. I still have some of Aysel's things but she was a toddler when I took her home. Well... I'll be back after shopping.
Love,
.....Tara
