The still bloody, muddy canine contemplated for a moment, pick up Yakuti or let him walk. However a boom of thunder snaped him back, he's walking....

Jamaa limped after his mate, trying his best to keep himself from collapsing. This could not possibly get worse....or could it?

"Temari, are you sure you know where you are going?" he said in a stern voice. Maybe a little of that pain and rage and insanity still resided in him somwhere. He turned back, the blood was still oozing from the pressure he exherted on his teeth and the banging of his head was still coming out, the scar was as well. He was like a ketchup stained dog playing in the mud, a complete mess.

"Yakuti, hurry up. We cannot stay out here." maybe this who thing will always be a part of him. He now gave off a more gruff feeling when he spoke. He said something else, but the din of the crashing thunder tuned it out.

"I have quite a good sense of direction boy, no snapping at me unless you want to see who would win." She flashed her teeth at him in a semi-grin, showing Jamaa's blood on her teeth and gums. "Now both of you hurry up, or I'll carry the both of you to this den." She barked , it wasn't an angry bark, more of a 'hurry up or I'm making you' bark.

Her tail wagged over her back as she trotted, ignoring the danger of the lightning strikes all around her. Temari had run in the rain before and she knew that as long as you stayed away from trees and such. But for now the golden female just trotted over the muddy ground like she'd done it for years, because... well, she had done it for years. in fact she could remember parts of things from her past when she lost almost all of her family. She could remember the pain and the long walks over the muddy remains of the savannah. A sigh came from her muzzle as she looked up and spotted the den.

"Faster you two!" She called back.

"coming!" Yakuti said, speeding up and keeping pace with Jamaa. He decided he didn't like the rain, it was extremely cold, and wet... He didn't want to stay out in it any longer than he needed too. He looked at the dark clouds above them, saw the flashing lightning in the sky, it was unnerving, not too long ago it had been a clear night full of bright stars.

"how far away is this den?" Yakuti grumbled impatiently, if everyone else was acting moody, he didn't see why he should try to brighten the mood, it most likely wouldn't work. He didn't mind walking, but this mud made it a bit more difficult than usual, it went up to mid foreleg on him, and it took a considerable amount of effort for him to keep up, and the cold wasn't helping matters.

He really didn't want to be in the rain and bleeding and muddy. If worse, his paws can get infected from the self-inflicted wounds he had during th pacing. Jamaa limped faster, enduring the pain, and hurried to the den.

This den was a ditch that a group of ratels dug up many a years ago. Jamaa's family has taken it and made it wider for their big bodies, now Jamaa has inherited it. The entry way was made up of two short boulders that held up a large stone slab to keep the rain from coming on in. Because the chamber was large, it was still kind of low, but it was tall enough to fit a grown lion. The chamber was split into two, one where the den owner would sleep alone and the larger one for whomever. The larger chamber was just a foot from the entrance giving a free view to the outside world from the safety of the shelter. The den owner's chamber was Jamaa's since he was a mere pup. When he was returning home, his foot got caught in the dirt just above it. As he tried to tug free the earth gave way and he fell in so there was a permanant sun-roof in his quarters.

Jamaa entered first and quickly retreated to his chamber, habit really. THe larger room was for any other animal who needed shelter as long as they did not desturb him. Jamaa entered his chamber as drops of water fell through his hole. THe muddy canine pulled his head through the hole so he could see the other two coming. It was an odd sight: a wild dog head on the ground.

"Quickly." he called out in his gruff voice.

The golden female wasn't so golden anymore, she was completely soaked to the bone with water and she was shivering slightly, but for some reason Temari didn't mind anymore. She really wanted nothing more than to keep running past that den that Jamaa wanted her to go in so much. Just to run and never stop, run right past the pack lands, straight along the ground and to the ocean. To never stop no matter what.

A howl worked its way from Temari's muzzle before she stopped dead and walked back to Yakuti. He wasn't running as fast as she could, so she picked him up and put him on her back. They hyena wasn't as small as some of her pups, so it was harder to carry him on her back than one of her pups would have been, in fact he took up MOST of her back.

Takeing long strides, she made it to the den and deposited Yakuti gently in one move. Her jem green eyes glanced over at Jamaa and she sighed before walking back to the front of the den. She wanted to be alone, for some reason she didn't like her mate as much as she used to. But it was probably because of the change in his very personality, she didn't like it at all.

"Thanks Temari." Yakuti said softly, he watched Jamaa laying on the ground and Temari go up to the front of the den. Neither one seemed to want to talk, and that suited him just fine, after what just happened, he didn't want to talk either. He went into the larger chamber, as Jamaa was in the small one and Temari was up front, and he began to clean off his fur.

Yakuti sighed, and began to think, what if Jamaa and Temari aren't the same? What if they are never their normal selves again?

What if I'm not my normal self ever again?

He thought about these things as he sat and continued to lick off his fur, he no longer looked blue, he was totally unrecognizable, almost completely covered in mud. After a little while of this, he gave up, it would be easier when he was drier, so he lay down, but he didn't sleep. He couldn't have if he wanted to, there was too much to think about.

Jamaa curled up in the corner of the larger chamber, it was furthest from the entrances, both the main and his own. This would keep him sort of warm and dry for the most part. Jamaa didn't really care about his wounds at the moment, the reason why he left for the Pridelands again came back. He flopped down onto his side, legs points away from him as he head laid on the dirt floor looking directly outside with Temari's gorgeous not-so-golden body and Yakuti's now dark blue furred body both laying not even a few feet from the dog. This was how Jamaa thought most of the time, it was confortable for him.

Kizaki has been taken from us. Temari is furious with me....again. Yakuti is frightened of me now. Goma is out there now spreading his evil ways and his lies. Those creatures that stand on two legs are out there killing off the animals of our savannah, the same ones who took our Kizaki. he thought. What should he do now. Temari probably hated him and might not be his mate anymore. What if she left the Mpinzani pack and took her pups with her because of him? Then there is Yakuti, he is only a pup now and then he'll grow up. What if he resented him too and possibly kill him if he was given the chance?

Jamaa whined. Now he was feeling the pain from the blood, the stickiness of the mud and the damp wet fur that covered his body. This was probably the worse condition he has ever been in. If he doesn't change his ways back to his self, he just may lose everything. But what if he can't? THe source of his problems was.....Kizaki's disappearance, Goma, and the humans. What can he do?

Jamaa whined again as he shifted around in the corner.

A sigh floated from the muzzle of the now dark brown canine. She was saddened by all of this, but saddened even more by the fact that Jamaa had taken such a turn. There had to be a way to get him back to his normal self. Looking over her shoulder, Temari rested her muzzle on her leg so her cheeks puffed out slightly in despair. Her eyes glittered for a moment and she looked over her other shoulder at Yakuti before she stood slowly and walked out into the rain.

She felt the mud strip from her body as the torrents of rain hit her over and over. As soon as all of the dark brown mud was gone from her body, Temari trotted back in and immediatly went to Yakuti. She lifted him gently by the scruff of his neck and walked him out into the rain as well until all of the mud was gone from his body. When she brought him back in, the little hyena was blue and white agian, though a darker shade of it.

Smiling, she licked Yakuti's head and trotted in to Jamaa. "You're a wreck hun. Have you learned your lesson about biting trees now? They'll always win." She shook her head and arched her tail over her back for a moment before laying down and snuggling into his side gently. "Please don't scare me like this again. You and my boys are all I have left."

Jamaa turned his head away from her, if he didn't deserved to be looked after what he did. On the brighter side, she spoke to him in her usual teasing ways. The blood from his maw was stopping and so was the rest of the wounds on him. His tail swung side to side when his mate slide herself next to him, he smiled a little. Jamaa rose to his feet and retreated into the den-owner's chamber where the rain at soaked a corner of the room. Jamaa pressed down hard on his forepaws as a jolt of pain shot up his legs. He shook it off. the muddy dog dug into the ground, pulling away the now soft, not yet muddy, dirt. The hole he created was probably up to his elbows. He sat himself down again, waiting.

If Jamaa doesn't get a hold of himself....Jamaa may lose them. But if Jamaa is good, he can keep them and return to normal. He licked his nose with his blood covered tongue, bad idea. Jamaa wriggled his nose and then rubbed it....worse. His paws were muddy and now is his nose. Jamaa growled at himself then huffed. "ah....Ah.....AH....AHCHOOO" he sneezed as a trail of snot dangled in front of him, his eyes twitched.

Looking down at the hole. It was filled with water, Jamaa has created a little watering hole. He first dipped his muddy paws in, (giving it a little shake), clearing the mud off. He then dipped in his tail. Jamaa stepped into the pool itself to rinse off the mud from his chest, shoulders, and rear. This is so...cold. Finally, he submerged his head clearing off his head. After having stepping out of the temporary bath hole, he shook himself of the water, marking the walls with specks of water.

The taller dog returned to the main den and laid himself next to his mate without a word. Looking closely at his face a drop of liquid slid down his fur.

Was this just leftover water from his bath, or was it....a tear?

Now clear of mud, though still wet, Yakuti watched as Temari and Jamaa talked, he saw that Temari seemed to want to brighten the mood, but Jamaa... He must have felt terrible after such a loss and seemed recluctant to talk. He walked over to them and sat down once Jamaa had finished his bath.

"Are y-y-you okay J-j-j-amaa?" Yakuti asked. He was shaking, mostly because he was cold, he wasn't scared nearly as much as before. "Are you b-b-b-better?"

He watched Jamaa with his brown eyes, he still looked sad and he had a look of deep thought on his face. Yakuti waited patiently for a response, if Jamaa didn't want to talk now, it was okay.

A sad smile crossed Temari's face and she forced her weak body to stand and she walked over to the shivering hyena. Using her nose she nudged him until he moved and laid down next to Jamaa, the female wild dog laid down next to him and boxed him in between the two larger and warmer bodies. Temari was used to running, so her body had found ways of making itself warmer than most others.

"Jamaa, I know you're sad, but you weren't the only one that lost her you know." She said in a sad voice before laying her head down on her paws and leaning her body against Yakuti's slightly more so that their bodies touched, letting the little blue hyena warm up more. A sigh floated from her muzzle as she took a deeper breat and curled her short tail over her hind legs, curling her paw under her leg, Temari let her eyes close.

Sometimes when things got like this she simply wished that she could die, but that wouldn't change anything. Her pups wouldn't have a mother and if this was how Jamaa reacted to losing his daughter, losing his mate would kill him. Or would it? Sometimes she wondered if he cared at all, if he knew how much she really cared about him and felt the same for her. Probably not. She was just overly sensitive she supposed. Temari had shown him once how much it hurt her to lose her daughter and he'd simply yelled and hurt her, now she did her best to hide that she had been even more crushed than him, in fact she hadn't even cried for a long time. It wasn't fair really.

Jamaa nudged the little pup and whispered, "Hey, you're not alone." he said in a teasing voice that only the pup would here. It was something between the two. Jamaa turned his head, resting it on Yakuti's back, softly, and stared straight at her. Her fur was drying and the radinat golden color was returning. She truely did love her.

On the first day he met his two femine friends, Yakuti, the wild dog, and Temari. Almost immediately the female came on to him....quite strong too. At first he was nervious about the transaction, meeting a female of the same species when his whole life was dedicated to protroling the Pride Lands, protecting it as much as he could, let alone two of them. Ironically, it was in the Elephant Graveyard where he met Temari yet again and where he fell in love. Maybe it was his masculinity that stopped him from showing his affections toward than the ones he already has, nuzzling and licking. Or maybe it was his pride as a male member of his lineage. Or maybe it was just him.

If Jamaa was going to change, he was going to completely change. His personality, his behavior, (especially) his accent, and how he shows his love for this mate of his.

Jamaa stared directly into her into her eyes, the doorway to herself. They were deep and dark, she was frightened or sad. This was because of him. He yelled at her when all he wanted was to chase after those who taken his step-daughter. To add more, the way he acted not only thirty minutes ago in the raining savannah. If he was truely going to change he had to take the first step. "Temari...." he paused.

"...I love you."

Yakuti sniggered at the first comment, it was good to know that Jamaa was still going to joke with him, but after that remained silent. He knew that something was going on inside his friend, and he didn't want to interrupt it.

He was quite warm now, he had stopped shivering and he very much enjoyed having his two friends next to him. It made him feel secure and almost like his parents were with him again. He felt like they were his parents, both wanted the best for him and sometimes Jamaa was rather over protective, he felt at home with them.

As Jamaa layed his head on Yakuti's back, he smiled and closed his eyes tiredly. The last thing he heard before falling to sleep was Jamaa telling Temari that he loved her, and it sounded as though the chaos of that night was ending.
PostPosted: Wed May 10, 2006 8:05 pm

Temari lifted her head and looked at Jamaa, it took everything in her not to lunge over her smaller companion and tackle her mate to the ground and lick all over him. She was happy to finally hear that from him, never once in all the time they had been together had he ever told her that he loved her. But, here he was telling it to her now. Supressing a yip of excitement, Temari's body quivered slightly, though she tried to stop it so that Yakuti could sleep.

"I love you too, it's nice to finally hear that from you Jamaa." She leaned over at least and licked his muzzle. Over and over and over, licking at the scar there and almost purring like a cat because for some reason that scar made his features more distinguished, even if it hurt her to know that she was the one that put it there. "I love you more than you know. I always have. Why in the world did it take you this long to say it out loud?" She was teasing him of course, but part of her was serious. It should have taken him that long, but then she couldn't blame him. She was a Wild Dog that had come with the baggage of a lost memory and three (now two) pups. He couldn't be expected to deal with so much for the sake of her.

If it were for Jamaa's fluffed out, muddy brown fur, the deep red in his cheeks would have been as visible as a black cat in a white room. He smiled and murred as the female lapped away at his scar. This was the first step of many he must take to care for him, Temari, and the what the future may hold.

"Heh....well, Jamaa don't know. Just been busy lately, y'know." he said teasingly in return. "I guess it's true when they say love hurts. This scar proves it." he laughed a little, but quietly to prevent waking up the slumbering hyena, who was almost more than a quarter of Jamaa's length....were Wild Dogs this small compared to these canines? Jamaa stared deep into her eyes, they became soulful and pure again as the day they first met. Jamaa reached over and nipped playfully at her ear and then touched her nose with his own. "Well, at least Jamaa said it, right?"
