At 20 you are still considered a kid and at risk for regretting your mods in 10 years.

ever since I was little I wanted to do art for a living, in some way, and ever since I was little I wanted mods (specifics later to be determined, but I knew I wanted some). B/c I planned to do art, I never considered mods a problem on the job-front. The art community/companies tend no to care (unless it's disney, but I never wanted to draw cute fuzzy animals for a living anyway), so I never saw having mods as a problem. In fact, as I've gotten older, I've decided that I want to be a tattoo artist as well as an aspiring comic one, so mods couldn't be less of an issue.

1. Most of my mods aren't likely to present an issue. My tattoos basically only show in a bathing suit, so I don't see when a potential employer would see them. When I take my earings out, my ears look pretty normal. I'm not worried.
2. I've seen more and more professionals with some mods. The first tragus piercing I saw was on one of my professors, and she had a visible tattoo as well.

I want to be a horse trainer. That world can be a hard crowd, but it's less taboo than in most professions. In competition you are required to wear long sleeves and a collared shirt any way. I don't see any of my mods, or the ones I want becoming a problem.
On a side note, a few of my teachers have visible tattoos. Two male teachers have cartilage piercings. I think as long as you can still look 'professional' they you will be accepted by most in this day and age.

I haven't come to regret any of my modifications yet but who knows. I have one tattoo that I'd probably like to get covered up or change someday in the future, and it isn't because I regret it, it's more because of the fact that it never got finished {still just an outline, no color}, I've never gotten it touched up, and it's just starting to look kind of bad, haha. It was my second tattoo, and surprisingly, my first tattoo still looks pretty good despite not ever having had it touched up either. X3
I currently work part time at Spencer's in my local mall. Spencer's is a very tolerant corporation, and much like Hot Topic, they don't really care what you look like so long as you still maintain a professional attitude, which is what really counts and matters, in my opinion.
As of right now, though I'd like to have full sleeves on both arms, I don't plan on making Spencer's my permanent job and/or career, and so for projects like my sleeve on my left arm, I'm keeping it at a half sleeve for now, just so in case I find a second job or start working in a hair salon, I can cover it with some ease if I need to.
Kind of interesting, just today I had a job interview for a possible second job at a store called Dot's. The woman giving me the interview and I somehow got onto the topic of dress code, which lead to her noticing I had piercings {even though I had removed my visible facial ones and left my hair down to cover my ears}, and she ended up letting me know that they're pretty slack about visible modifications so long as they're tasteful {which is pretty subjective in my opinion, but who cares}. I didn't expect them to be as care free about that type of thing as they seemed to be.

So far I don't regret anything I've gotten.
When considering a new modification I always think about whether it would still be possible to have whilst on placement at uni and then if I chose to, working in the NHS after I graduate. I stick to those under clothes and ears, my only facial is my septum which can be hidden easily. For that reason I can't have a vertical labret or have my arms tattooed, not matter how much I would love to as I would end up regretting it when I found myself unable to get a job having wasted 4 years of uni.

I regret getting my first lip piercing. I was young and I went to a cheap tattoo shop. The apprentice there literally pierced my lip.

See? She completely MISSED where she marked it. Now I have a little white scar on my lip.
I don't mind the scar, however, I do mind the $50 that I wasted.

I am one of the younger people in this guild, but I truly never think I will "regret" anything I have done. In my mind, if I am not allowed to have them, the job isn't worth it to me. If I'm allowed to wear retainers, fine. I'll just never take them out for something.
My -plan- for the time being is that I'm starting Cosmetology school next year. Mods are generally more acceptable in that field. After a couple of years, I plan on opening up a shop with my best friend and doing modifications in my spare time. Piercings, Dermals, Suspension, and Scarification for me. =] It may sound unlikely, but it is something I really believe in happening. I live in Chicago, so we have quite a few shops. However, they are either s**t or way overpriced, for the most part. Even if a shop doesn't work out, I would have my backup of cosmetology.

I've only had one mod ever. My ear stud. No regrets.
But I plan on getting tattooed soon, and I have to consider how it'll affect my work. I wish I'd got at least one done when I was still a stupid, immature, unemployed kid.
Now I have to be a stupid, unemployed adult and consider my actions in relation to my future job prospects yadda yadda yadda. . __.

The only mod I ever regretted was my smiley and that was just because it fell out within a week and ended up being a waste of money.
Im almost regretting my eybrow rings though because they take forever to heal an dI think I might just get rid of them, and use the jewelery for some vertical lip rings razz

I'm 20. I've already had 31 piercings, and have taken out 12 of those, for various reasons. Mainly migration, rejection, etc. But some were simply because I felt I had too many.
I've got 5 tattoos now. I have plans for numerous more.
I've got a bright blue mohawk.
And by the end of this year...
My hair will be blond again, grown out on the sides(maybe I'll manage a Garbohawk), and any visible piercings will be hidden away... as I make my way to getting a job downtown at an Accounting Firm. XD
My master plan is to be, by day, a mild-mannered accountant raking in the cash... but by night, a crazy party animal. ^_^
Idealistic, but potentially possible.
