The Unexpected Demon of a Child SurprisePlace conducted : Shop Thread Raife In the middle of the night, some time after the sun set, but before the witching hour, all was quiet in the commercial district of Barton. It was cold. It was raining, and the streets were desolate. The restaurants were packing up, chairs resting upside down on the tables, ready for the night-crews to come in and clean up, and the shops selling wares were silent in the dark, waiting with eternal readyness for the next day.
One such shop was closed for the night, but as always, the absent minded shop keeper had left the door unlocked. As always. The front door creaked and shifted in the night breeze, and the little bell afixed to the top tinkled madly, reminding no one that the door was open.
With all the noise, no one would have noticed a sudden shudder and tinkle of glass. If the air in the shop and around it tasted like green and yellow for a moment, nobody would have noticed that either.
Or would they? tsu 5 e Why am I out here now? Tsu's thoughts were blurred. Oh right, I'm in need of a stiff drink after last night Tsu's cuts and scrapes were still bandaged heavily and he was staggering. Barely aware of his surroundings, Tsu ducked into the nearest open door he could find. "Anything to get out of this storm" Tsu muttered dryly. The faintest sound of breaking glass. It could have been anything for all Tsu knew. Maybe he knocked something over? It didn't seem to matter in the long run. Trying to find his bearings Tsu called out in the darkness, "Hey, is anyone here?!" Raife The shop continued to be silent, except for the strange and unmistakable sounds of something slushing through viscous liquid, a quiet clink of cup on table, and strange shuffling noises. Then the humming. It sounded faintly like the old theme to Gigantor, except muffled by liquid. Then a very human groan.
But the darkness revealed no shifting shapes or shadows.
Why was an empty room humming?? Kyoupiruchi Splash! Kyou stepped into a water puddle. "Crap, I shouldn've worn some boots instead of these..." he muttered in distaste, staring at his wet oxford shoes. For the past half an hour, Kyou had been tailing Tsu across town. He had been wondering why was Tsu sneaking out in the middle of the night? To get a drink maybe? was what Kyou was thinking. But the bandages on Tsu's body worries him. What in the world was he doing??! And without realising it, Kyou had been following Tsu with an umbrella ever since. The rain was getting harder, and Kyou's clothes are getting wetter. Suddenly, he saw Tsu stumble into a shop. It was dark inside though, Kyou couldn't see anything in there. I wonder what kind of shop is that? tsu 5 e The splashing of liquids, the silence except for glass. I'm too weary and too old for this. I feel as if I walked into an episode of the Twilight one or something. Tsu thought tiredly. If only I could find a lightswitch... Tsu was trying to feel out for a wall, but he apparently had better luck finding every table and chair along the way with his shins. "It's so dark, if this is someone's idea of a joke then you got me. Come on out." Tsu called out cautiously once more. "While you're at it, could you stop the humming? It feels as if the whole room is doing that and making my head swim." However it was if the darkness not only sucked out the chance to see shadows but it felt like Tsu's voice was just being suffocated by the darkness. He was even unaware if he was breathing or not. "Someone... say something!!" Tsu hollered. Raife A sudden quiet snicker illuminated the darkness, then faded, just as quickly as it came. The hummed themesong stopped just as abruptly. As if, whatever had been making the noise had noticed the two new arrivals.
The sound of a rattling cup once again, and a slightly exasperated sigh.
"Stuck..." Kyoupiruchi Kyou winced at the sound of every object Tsu bounced into in the dark. He peered into the shop, trying to adjust his eye sight to the darkness inside. The shop was apparently closed, but there was a strange air in the shop that tells Kyou that it isn't completely shut down yet. He was about to dash out to help Tsu when he suddenly heard the soft sigh. Then, he decided to stay in spot, peering into the shop from outside. tsu 5 e Wait...why am I struggling in the dark like this?! Tsu asked himself fumbling for his lighter. Yey for a quick fix. The light was faint and flickering, but at least Tsu could finally avoid hitting all the tables. His shins were quite grateful for that. Moving closer to the back of the room, Tsu located a light switch and flipped it on. That probably wasn't the best idea as his eyes were now forced to adjust to the bright light, and it didn't help his headache any. When his eyes got adjusted, Tsu looked around for where the voices were coming from. "Now who's stuck where...?" Tsu looked around for where any attacker or other person could be hiding. Unfortunately the light inside meant windows reflected the inside of the shop. If anyone was outside, Tsu was completely blind to it. He just would have to hope that they got their lazy asses into the store. Hell he wouldn't put it past his brother Kyou to wait outside while he suffered inside alone. lil_nekochild A hip from behind the unsuspecting, peering Kyou knocks him straight through the doorway and into the shop before the door itself slams closed ominously. Raife "Mmh, help, peez." "You're succha baabyyy. Just relax."
The voices were distinctly coming from the shelf on the right wall. It was an odd shelf, small and being one of one, on a very large wall. There looked like there should have been more shelves, but there definitely weren't. Just one. One, solitary shelf. Two small shadows marred the otherwise barren plank. The source of the voices?
Just maybe.
It warranted a closer look, in any case. Kyoupiruchi "Wh... whaaa..??" was all that Kyou could produce as he stumbled into the shop, trying to stable himself from falling onto all fours. He was going to wheel around and shout at the person that pushed him, but he suddenly realised he's standing in the bright light right now. "Err..." he smiled at Tsu embarassedly, "Hi?" tsu 5 e Arching an eyebrow, Tsu just said, "So you've been stalking me? That's the only explanation I can find for you to be here after all. In the rain even." Without waiting for an explanation, Tsu began moving towards the area where he thought he had heard two voices. "Marco" Tsu jokingly called out as he got closer and closer to the right wall. I wonder if they even know how to respond Tsu thought, after all it seems not everyone knows that game. He was maybe a few steps away from the right wall and his adrenaline was rushing. Maybe because he still couldn't find the source of the voices, but the stark cupboard thing was suspicious. Would it be hiding in the most obvious place though? Tsu moved closer to that shelf. Raife "Marco? Is that my name? Wh-what...is my name?" "It's Astro Boy." "Sh-shut up! ...Is it?" "How should I know? I'm stuck in this cup. Maybe Marco's MY name." The shadows continued their friendly banter. As Tsuki moved closer, however....the shadow fell from one of them. He looked Tsuki in the eye. "Wh-who are you? Are you Marco?" Despite the fact that it shouldn't have been possible, the other stayed stubbornly hidden in shadow. Kyoupiruchi Kyou doesn't have a chance to explain, not that he wanted to explain anything anyway. However, his ears perked up as he heard 2 tiny voices coming from behind Tsu... well technically they are in front of Tsu, but Tsu's back was facing Kyou. Attracted by the strange chatter, and also curious of why is Tsu standing in front of a single cupboard, Kyou moved in cautiously to have a look as well. Raife The second shadow fell away as Kyou moved closer.
"Maybe this is Marco." "Or Astro Boy." Said Tsu's cup. "I was joking." "I don't even know what Astro Boy is. You said it." "Astro Boy is.... is...." The small being in the cup turned to Kyou. "What's Astro Boy? And who's Marco?"

tsu 5 e "Marco...?" Tsu blinked in confusion. "Noooo... my name is Tsu. I was referring to a game called Marco Polo. After all I see you more as a Kai than anything" Tsu said picking up the cup carefully with the little guy in it. Peering into the shadows, Tsu didn't see anything else there. Turning to the little kid, he said, "I don't know who you've been talking to, but maybe you wouldn't mind hanging out with me for a while? At least until we can figure out the proper way to get you unstuck without hurting anything." Kyoupiruchi Kyou blinked at the little green guy-in-a-cup that's talking to him. "Who's Marco?" Kyou echoed his last words. "I don't know who's Astro boy either!" He peered over Tsu's shoulder to look at the one Tsu is holding. "What are these.... cups??" Kyou asked, lacking any other terms whatesoever to refer to them. "They could talk? Are these new toys? Man, new technologies nowadays sure are interesting!" Raife One boy-in-a-cup looked at another.
"What're we stuck with?" "Dunno. Who ARE these people?" "Does it matter? S'gotteh be better than being stuck in this place."
TAG. YOU TWO ARE IT. Hope you like them! tsu 5 e [[i'm really happy for the Calpis dude : O The little kid should find the life in Tsu's office interesting to say the least]] "I'm not so sure they're as simple as a toy bro." Tsu said looking at Kyou. "When I first talked to Star, she seemed to stress that they have feelings and a mind of their own. It's almost like we're more taking care of a charge than anything. Also it might be easier to refer to your guy if he had a name. I'm thinking I'll call mine Kai. It just fits somehow." Placing the Calpis on the counter first, Tsu rubbed his temples, "Okaayyy, first we'll need to get out of here so no one thinks it's too suspicious and I don't have to explain everything over and over again, then I can go through who I am to Kai." [[oooh tag!!]] Kyoupiruchi (( He's really cute!! xd heart w00t Tsu! Our kids have the same birth date biggrin )) "Huh? I'm supposed to... take care of this... thing??" He stared at the little green guy in the oriental teacup, and he stared back. Frowning, he picked up the cup carefully so that he won't spill any liquid. "Does this really belong to me? I feel like I'm stealing something from this shop... whatever business it runs..." As Kyou's hand moved lower down the cup, he felt something soft strapped onto the cup. A feather? "I'm supposed to name this little fella right? I think I'll call it Kaze. If my memory doesn't fail me, I think Kaze means 'wind' in Japanese right?" tsu 5 e "Yeahhh... I don't want to tell the shop keeper why we were standing in their place after they were supposed to have closed. Before I forget, Kaze does mean wind. Sounds like a good name for him." Tsu said to Kyou. "If we have questions, I guess we just need to come back here and talk to Raife or Star" ((Kid?!? Tsu doesn't do kid... maybe like charge... or the adopted little brother - big brothers and sisters program gaian style anyone? Kai would be much better if Tsu was not a parent so much as just there to take care of him and give support)) Kyoupiruchi "I really do feel like we're stealing.. Tsu..." Kyou muttered, feeling not very sure about this. " Just get me outta this runt already! I don't wanna stay with that Astro boy on that shelf any longer!" The little guy squealed from in his cup, arms waving around. "Alright alright! I guess we could come and explain to the shop owners... were their names Raife and Star? Well we'll just have to come back and give them a proper explanation tomorrow..." And they would be the only thieves in the world that surrenders themselves to the people they steal from. As they turn to leave, one question popped into Kyou's mind. "How are we supposed to bring them through the rain outside?" tsu 5 e [[hella belated response cos i fell asleep...;; sometimes happens]] " Sh-Shut up!!! I'm not Astro Boy! I don't even know what Astro Boy is!!" Tsu's little guy was flushed, making his normally pale skinned face glow a deep crimson color. "Anyway," Tsu cut in, "the priority is getting out of here before anyone notices something suspicious. We can explain to Star and Raife tomorrow or sometime soon. The first thing to do is to get back home. Through the rain. Wait, rain?" Tsu had been too absorbed in the kids to remember that it was raining outside, and he had no way of protecting the little guys from it. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to steal one more thing," Tsu muttered, looking around for where Star had put the plastic wrap before. "Besides, it's only using a little bit to keep them from catching cold." Finally locating the clear wrap, Tsu tore off two sheets, one for Kyou's and one for his own charge. "Now let's head home." " B-but where is home?!" the little calpis bottle wailed completely lost, " and who is Marco? or Astro Boy?!" It was already the making for a long, long walk back to the labs.

Unfortunate Event in the Kitchen
"Laz, pass me the sugar!"
"Which one is the sugar??!" a slightly irate voice from a moderately annoyed Raevan replied. This is the first time Kyou, Lazarus and Kaze stepped... well not literally, since Laz and Kaze aren't actually walking on the ground... Anyways, yes it's the first time they're actually using the cafeteria kitchen. Since Lazarus don't need to eat actual food, Kyou usually survive on instant food or take away from outside, and Kaze usually feed off from Kyou's food. So they don't actually use the kitchen.
"It should have a label on it!" Kyou replied, sounding not too sure himself as he stare at the bowl of mixture in front of him. To tell the truth, Kyou may be a genius at scientific and magick experiments, but he is completely clueless when it comes to cooking.
A few days ago he had received a note from Raife about a check-up, or probably a party back at the drinkables shop, Kyou wasn't very sure. And he needed to bring food. Well Kyou thought it would seem more sincere if he cooked the food instead of buying it from somewhere. So that's why he ended up in the cafeteria kitchen now, with loads of baking ingredients, some sliced mangos and feeling lost with the mango pie he was making.
"It would still have a label if you didn't emptied out everything into the jars the second you came back..." Lazarus mumbled quietly to himself as he stare at the glass jars in front of him. He couldn't make out which one is sugar, and which is salt. Simply grabbing the left jar he handed it to Kyou with a thrust. "Here's the sugar." He decided if it screwed up the pie, it wouldn't be his fault anyway.
"That looks so awful~" chimed Kaze from his cup as he look into the contents of the bowl Kyou was mixing.
"It's for the party I'm going with you, whether you like it or not you're going to eat it soon anyway." Kyou replied as he added a few tablespoons of what he assumes as 'sugar' into the mixture, and continue to mix the substance.
"And I'm glad I'm not going." Laz chimed in with a sneer at Kaze, he still haven't developed a liking to the weird cup-kid.
"You're going to miss all the fun~" Kaze teased.
"I'll enjoy my time alone at home thank you very much." quickly losing interest in the conversation, Lazarus turned to reading the pie recipes Kyou printed out from the net instead.
"Creepy pervert." Kaze almost hissed this at Lazarus, a smirk forming on his lips.
Lazarus eyes widen in surprise at those words. "Wh... whaaa??!! How did you...?!" Lazarus stammered, face slightly flushed. He quickly glanced at Kyou to check whether he heard what Kaze said. Luckily, Kyou was densed enough to be fully immersed in the pie making and didn't notice their conversation. Floating over to where Kaze is, Lazarus lowered his volume, "...not a word to Kyou..." he hissed threateningly, "..or else you're down the toilet bowl."
"Big bully..." Kaze pouted and slinked back into his cup, obvious that he's overpowered right now.
"I... think this should do it." Kyou mumbled, not very sure himself either as he stared at the mixture. He poured the mixture into the pie shell he made earlier, with the small little sliced pieces of mango inside, cover it with the top crust and seal the edges. Looking back at the recipe he was following, he took up a knife and cut a few slits on the top of the outer crust. "Well, this should be ready to be placed in the oven!" he carefully carried the pan over to the oven and put it inside, adjusted it to the correct temperature according to the recipe and just let the oven do it's job.
"Phew, an hour should do it!" Kyou proclaimed, wiping the sweat on his forehead. "Laz..." he turned to Lazarus, "I'm going to take a bath and rest a little, I've haven't slept very much yesterday and I'm exhausted. I'll need you to look at the oven for me with Kaze, and tell me when it's ready." Kyou instructed.
"What? You want me to stay here with little cup boy?" Laz complained, irritated.
"Yeah, you're well... technically bigger than him, and older than him! You should take care of Kaze like a little brother!" Kyou said absent mindedly, cleaning his hands in the sink.
Lazarus huffed, "..as if."
"What did you say Laz?" Kyou asked, didn't hear very clearly.
"Yeah yeah, go and take your bath already." Lazarus replied in an irate tone.
"Now the both of you, behave yourself and treat each other nicely!" Kyou couldn't help being a little bit more fatherly-toned sometimes. After all he's in charge of taking care of them. After giving them another look, he removed the frilly white apron he was wearing and headed off to the showers.
"I guess we're alone now! Wheeee~~" Kaze cried in a sarcastic tone.
"You're right, we are going to be alone now. But not together!" Lazarus replied promptly, floating out after making sure Kyou is gone. Leaving Kaze alone, stuck in the cafeteria kitchen.
"Hey... at least bring me to somewhere more interesting than here!" Kaze cried out to Lazarus. But there was no reply and no sign of Lazarus coming back.
The oven timer ticked down slowly in front of him, and Kaze stared in boredom, hopelessly as the timer reached an hour mark, but it doesn't seem like the oven stopped baking either. It was only 2 hours later when Kyou woke up from his nap and found a smelly cafeteria kitchen with a sick Kaze and a burnt mango pie.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Are you doing alright?" Kyou asked in concern as they make their way to Raife's drinkable shop - where Kyou first got Kaze. It must've looked weird that Kyou was holding a tea cup in his hand with a kid in it, because people on the street were staring at him with weird looks. He's already used with the stares when he goes out with Lazarus sometimes, but he felt a little weird this time when he's holding a cup in front of him like that.
"I'm okay, just... don't leave me in any kitchens or near any pies anymore!" Kaze spoke weakly from his cup, his entire body save for his head soaked in the tea.
"I won't, I won't..." in the end Kyou was forced to get something from the shops anyway. No pies, so he got a marble chocolate cheesecake from a bakery nearby instead. The burnt pie back in the labs ended up in the dumps.
Not far in front of him, he spotted the familiar shop he saw Tsu stumbled in a while back. He was surprised that he actually didn't got lost on his way here. There's still hope for Kyou yet! There are already several people in front of the shop with little cups too, Kyou assumed they're owners too and proceed to walk up to them.

The Unknown Remains Unknown(( Follow up of the group RP conducted here!! )) ----------------------------- Splash! The sound of water running continuously from a tap and the sound of someone splashing their face with it can be heard in a public restroom. Kyou had been rinsing his mouth and massaging his tongue gingerly, in hopes of washing away the remaining unknown substance and putting some life back into his tongue. He seems to be succeeding.
Remembering a quote he saw before in the computer, "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog". He recited quickly and effortlessly. "Hey, I'm able to speak properly again!"
"Yeeeeeyyyy!!!" Kaze cheered from his little cup that Kyou placed beside the sink. "Can we go somewhere fun now huh huh?" Little voice chimed excitedly, looking hopefully at Kyou.
"No, we're going to go back to the lab now." He needed to find out the content of the sparkling substance. And why is it giving different effects on him and Kaze.
"Aaaaw..." Kyou raised an eyebrow as he's starting to see little signs of the old Kaze coming back. "Well maybe I can ask Laz to play tick-tack-toe with me!" Kaze said happily, obviously still very hyper under the influences of the unknown substance. Kyou bowed his head in disappointment, Kaze doesn't usually ask Laz to play games with him. Although the change with Kaze is not unpleasant, but he still couldn't help but have the impression that Kaze is under some drug influence. Give me back the old Kaze! Kyou thought, with a long sigh.
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Aaaaaargh!!" Kyou cried as he let himself collapse onto his paper strewn desk. He and Kaze had reached home earlier and he had since devoted himself on finding out what was the sparkling substance. But all his attempts were in vain because he couldn't get a clear sample of the unknown substance. He had tried wiping Kaze's cup brim like how he did with his finger earlier, but either the substance had completely disolved into thin air or Kaze was too hyper that he rubbed all of those remaining traces off. Kyou also took some tea sample from Kaze's cup, to see if there were any odd components in his tea. But under the microscope, Kyou could only see popcorn fiber and components from the tea. Nothing unusual. As a last resort, since Kyou don't know where to look for samples anymore, Kyou scraped his tongue painfully in hopes of finding some last traces of the substance. NOTHING EITHER!! Now Kyou has a numb tongue again, and still clueless to what the substances are.
Maybe I could check up with Kaze and Laz to see what are they doing. Kyou thought. He sure hope Kaze isn't bothering Lazarus too much though.
It was really late at night, the hand of the clock indicated it's just passed midnight. As quietly as possible, Kyou snuck through the lab corridor to the playroom right next to Tsu's office, where he last left Kaze, the door was left open in a small slit. It was quiet inside thought, so naturally, Kyou tries to be as quiet as possible too. Carefully, Kyou slid open the door just enough for him to peek in.
The room was dim, with a small night light shining in a far corner. Apparently Laz and Kaze were playing tick-tack-toe on some papers earlier, which Kyou taught Kaze not very long ago. But right now, Kaze seems to be exhausted and already sleeping soundly in his cup placed on the papers that they were playing tick-tack-toe on. While Laz floated nearby with his back to Kyou, he seems to be deep in thought since he didn't hear Kyou come in.
Kyou figured he should leave them alone. But as he retreated, he couldn't help but notice Laz's rune was shining a little bit brighter than usual. That's seems a little odd, Kyou thought as he paced back to his room. This is such an eventful day, first he burnt his pie, sadly. Then the drinkable store was closed, despite what was said on the note. Kaze saw pink sparkles falling from the sky and later became strangely hyper. And now Laz's rune is glowing brighter. What else could happen tonight? But Kyou isn't going to find out because he's going to crash for tonight. Hopefully his tongue will heal tomorrow.

METAPLOT PART II Here we start our post-pinkopolyptic adventure! For the rest of our metaplot, you'll be on your own personalized RP adventure with a staff member guiding you, post for post until the inevitable conclusion! The faster you post, the faster you get to your goal! Responses must be at least a paragraph, and if you ever go more than a week without responding, you're out! (C'mon, guys. It doesn't take a week to write a paragraph.) These don't have to be as long as the original metaplot #1 and #2, as we're going for more an RP style than a journal style. This could take anywhere from three weeks (four if you're unfortunately with Raife) to three months, depending on how you play this out! LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED, BABY.
It was dark out, several nights after the incident, when things started to change. Well, only a couple of things, really, but they really made a stir. The first was the return of that ominous pink glow. It contrasted sharply with the green of Kaze's liquid and skin and made him stand out in the night like a nightlight.
The second was the copious steam pouring off the cup of tea. Flowing and covering the table like a blanket of mist.
What the heck was going on?

THUD! A heavy volume book slipped off the table corner and hit the ground with a loud noise. "Hrrrmmm...?" Kyou moaned softly, woke up slightly by the sound. He lifted his head off the desk slightly, wondering where he was for a few seconds before realising that he fell asleep on the desk again! He stayed up until late night every night lately, researching about weird phenomenons in the world that involves pink sparkling dusts. But he found nothing. Rubbing his eyes a little he sat up straight, at least he try to until he heard a loud crack on his back and curled up again in pain. "Uuuugggh..." he groaned, making a mental note not to sleep on the desk again. After the pain resided slightly, he stood up slowly, thought of going to get some water and take a few painkillers to ease his back pain. Lifting the book up and putting it back on the desk he headed out the door, body crooked frontwards like an old man. Geez, I'm really getting old again isn't it? Kyou thought sadly.
When he opened the door however, the view in front of him was rather unexpected. He blinked once, twice, thrice, and stood staring at the table not very far in front of him where he last left Kaze.
"Kyou!!" Kaze exclaimed, breaking Kyou from his state of stoned shock.
"Huh? Wh... what's going on Kaze?" Kyou asked, eyes unblinking at the weird phenomenon in front of him - copious pink sparkling steam was pouring out of Kaze's little cup, so thick that it's covered the entire surface of the table, fading away as it ran out of surface to cover at the edges of the table. "What's happening to you?!" Kyou stammered as he rushed forward to Kaze, suddenly overcomed by a parental distress, temporarily forgetting his backache.
"I dunno!" Kaze cried. "The pink sparkles just suddenly appeared from the water... my water! My tea!" Kaze said as he desperately splashed around his cup. However, Kyou couldn't see the water surface very clearly due to the thick steam. "And it feels really cold!" Kaze muttered pitifully as he rubbed his arms with both his hands, staring up at Kyou hinting him to do something about it.
"Alright, I'll let you hug my finger for warmth now. I'll get you to Lazarus so he could keep you warm instead while I find a way to stop this steam." Kyou said as he picked up the cup cautiously, the steam pouring onto his skin. Kyou winced slightly as the steam was indeed rather chilly. He dipped 2 fingers from his free hand into the water, allowing Kaze to hug it so he could keep a little warmer as he look for Lazarus.
Kyou has no idea what's really happening here, and the first thought that came up his mind to solve this problem is to call the shop to ask if they have any idea. And that's what Kyou is going to do after he leave Kaze to Lazarus.

The call to the Drinkables' shop was useless. Nobody home, as always. It was enough to make one wonder if the phone was just un-plugged there. The steam continued to pour off Kaze in copious amounts for the next couple of days until it started to fizzle out, leaving Kaze and his cup as usual, except for the pink glow. The glow was warm to the touch, as if compensating for the cold the steam had produced. As if, whatever the problem was, it wanted to make it up to Kaze for having had him endure that cold. He wasn't iced tea after all.

To tell the truth, the thought of whether is there even people manning the drinkable shop crossed Kyou's mind earlier, much much earlier. So far, other than the drinkables themselves, Kyou haven't seen the owner nor any worker in that shop thus far. It may be due to the bad timing that Kyou usually has, but after accepting Kaze to the 'household' for so long, Kyou felt very weird that he haven't met the creator of Kaze yet. The many phone calls he attempted to make to the shop proves further that the shop seem abandoned. Maybe that invitation was some sort of prank... Kyou thought dully.
"Bah, I give up!" Kyou cried as he threw the phone back onto the desk with a loud bang and walked back into the playroom where Kaze and Lazarus is, to check up on Kaze. "How are you feeling Kaze?" Kyou asked as he entered the room, only to find Lazarus missing. "Where did Lazarus went? I thought he was supposed to take care of you."
"Laz went to get me some candy!" Kaze replied, his usual sly smile curling on his lips.
"Right..." Kyou replied, distracted a little as he focused his eyes on the pink glow on Kaze's cup. It's odd, first the chilling pink steam, and now a much warmer pink glow. Whatever happened to Kaze, it was caused by that mysterious pink dusts the other day. There's no doubt about it. Kyou could only hope that other than creating weird phenomenons, it won't be affecting Kaze's safety or health too much. Cautiously he ran a finger down Kaze's cup, feeling the comfortable warmth. "I still don't think you should eat candy yet. You're still.... sick..."
As if to prove that he's okay, Kaze place both his hands on the mouth of the cup and lift himself up slightly. "But I feel completely fine!!" Kaze retorted back. "The glow is not cold! It's warm and I like it!! Maybe it's making me healthy again!!"
"Still..." Kyou replied, hesitant.
"Just one!! Please?" Kaze begged desperately.
"Mmm.... alright, just one, no more!! Or else I'll ask Lazarus to heat up your tea until it boils!"

It didn't take long for the steam to swing in the opposite direction of the icy cold, turning a burning hot. Although Kaze was in his element, it made the cup untouchable by any human hands. The steam formed almost a force field around the little drinkable, isolating him from the rest of the house. It seemed like Kyou would have to think of creative ways to feed him and interactive with him!

"I swear!! It's not my fault!!" An angry voice echoed down the empty corridor. "Then who's is it?" Another one, equally annoyed and grouchy came shortly after. "You're the only one here with the fire powers!" Lazarus rolled his eyes in disbelief. "It's probably caused by that pink sparkle incident you mentioned before!" Finding nothing or no one else to blame, that seemed to be the only option. Besides, it really wasn't him that heated up Kaze's cup. Even if he did, the heat would last so goddamn long. "Pink things never bring good luck..." He mumbled, only loud enough for Kyou to hear.
"Guuuuh..." Kyou grunted miserably with his face in his palm. He's really lost this time as to why all these weird things are happening to Kaze. He fears being clouded in the shadows, not knowing what was the cause for what's happening to Kaze. And his worse fear is what is going to happen to him!
"Kyou!!" came Kaze's little voice from inside the room. Both of them exited the room for the argument because they don't want Kaze to see it. "Yes Kaze? What's wrong now?" Wrong, that's the word that first came up on Kyou's mind, instead of 'what do you want?' or 'what's up?'. Because somehow he knows that there will be more changes to Kaze's weird condition at any time. Think of it on the bright side, Kyou thought, at least Kaze isn't really suffering from the immense heat. Although I can't touch him or move him now... "I'm hungry..." Kaze whimpered, pouting out his lower lip a little. "Uh...." Kyou paused, thinking of how to feed him if he isn't able to reach him. Usually he gives Kaze some of his food because Kaze eat so little due to his size. He turned his gaze at the dinner that he just got from outside - fried gyoza. Great... Now he wished he got something that could be divided into smaller portions for Kaze. Kyou stared at the chopsticks that came with the gyoza and picked it up tentatively, wondering if it will work.
"It's useless, the steam is even too hot for me to touch, the chopsticks aren't long enough to avoid the heat.", Lazarus said as he floated back into the room behind Kyou. "And remember? I'm the only one with fire powers around here?" He spoke as he crossed his arm, as if to spite Kyou.
"Shut up, I don't wanna talk to you right now..." Kyou retorted, putting back down the chopsticks. But an idea suddenly came to his mind. If the steam is so hot, then the liquid inside should be too! "Do we have eggs left in the refridgerator?" Kyou asked Lazarus. "Huh?" was all Lazarus came up with, caught off guard by the sudden question. "Yeah... I think so."
"Good, I have an idea, and I'll need your help. Go get an egg for me!" Kyou ordered. "Your food will be here soon, you'll just need to wait a little okay?" Kyou said to Kaze as he knelt down about 2 feet away from his cup. Even at this distance he could feel the heat wave coming from the cup. Hopefully the heat will reside soon.
With a backward glance, Lazarus went to the kitchen to get an egg for Kyou, wondering what plans he had for it. He returned with a small sized one and hand it out to Kyou. "No no, you're supposed to give Kaze the egg! Not me!" Kyou said as he shook his head. "Had you guys heard of tea boiled eggs before?" Kyou asked the both of them, looking from one to the other. Both of them shook their heads. "It's a kind of healthy food where you boil the egg in hot steaming tea! Simply as that. Now Lazarus, since you have more resistance to high temperature, I'll need you to drop the egg into Kaze's steaming tea. And when it's done, Kaze could peel off the eggshell on his own to eat it!"
"But... I never peeled an eggshell before!" Kaze protested hesitantly. "Is it hard?" "Well, you'll have to learn now or you won't be having dinner!" Kyou changed his tone suddenly, more stern now. "But it's not too hard don't worry."
Grunting grumpily, Lazarus took the egg towards Kaze's cup. Stopping about 1 foot away from it, sweating at the immense heat it's producing. Just get it over with. Lazarus thought as he stretched his hand forwards, going as close to the surface of the cup as possible and dropped the egg into the water. But his hand met with an invisible heat force field and only the egg flew forwards, plopping into the hot water with a splash. Kaze ducked to the side just in time to avoid the egg that was flying towards him. "Hey be careful with that you dumbhead!"
"Hey it's not my fault if there's an invisible force field surrounding your cup right?" Lazarus argued back, massaging his hand that was burnt from the shield, a single drop of tear emerged at the corner of his eye.
"Are you alright Laz?" Kyou came up beside Lazarus as he already backed away from the cup, so it's a safe distance for Kyou to come in now. "You should apply some toothpaste on your hand, it can ease the pain a little."
"How long must I wait for the egg to get boiled?" Kaze asked curiously, hugging the egg as if that would make the egg boil faster that way. "Until you don't hear any movement in the egg anymore!" Kyou replied, unsure. He couldn't check for Kaze too due to the immense heat. "You'll just have to judge on your own..."
"You better don't be bullshitting me about the toothpaste thing Kyou!! I've never burnt myself all this life!" Lazarus cried as he rushed to the washroom. Little did Laz know that the initial sting when the toothpaste come in contact with the burnt wound is stronger than the pain from the burnt wound itself. But he should be thankful that it's only for a short while.

The effect is spreading! Laz's burn glows briefly pink! As if the heat is caused by something a little more magical than just energy! Only when Laz's burn turns back to normal does everything seem to calm down. Kaze's symptoms of...whatever's wrong, seem to be in remission for the moment.

"AAAaaaaahh WHAT THE HELL??!?!" Lazarus cried in frustration as he continued to dip and rub his hands under water, trying to scrub the last of the pink glow away. The only color in this world that he absolutely despise is PINK!! And having that glow lingered on his hands for a few hours could be the worst torture for his eyes yet. He have no idea if the water really worked, but all he knew was that the pink glow is definitely going away as he continued to rub his hands underwater. He had been doing this for the past hour and the skin on his fingers were wrinkled.
"Stop whining, you sounded like a crybaby..." Kyou frowned as he peeked into the washroom, Laz never locked the door because there wasn't any need to. "Is the pink glow gone?" He asked curiously as he walked closer to the sink, to where Lazarus is.
As Laz rubbed gently on the tip of his middle finger, the last of the pink dimmed and Lazarus's hands returned to normal. "Now it is!!" Lazarus cried triumphantly, raising his hand to eye level to inspect closer. "I swear this was caused by that stupid steam from Kaze's cup!! What is going on with him anyway?!"
"I wish I knew..." Kyou muttered as he sighed hopelessly. At least for now the heat seemed to had resided a little. It wasn't as hot as before and Kyou could at least interact with Kaze right now. "I'm going to check on Kaze, you clean this place up properly before you leave." Kyou ordered as he gave a stern stare at Lazarus before leaving the washroom. With hurried footsteps Kyou walked across the corridor towards the playroom when he heard a little voice through the door.
"BOH-RIIIiiiiiiiinnng...." Kaze cried with a yawn as he cling lazily to the mouth of the cup. Kyou opened the door and walked in. The barely eaten boiled egg floated on the surface of the tea. "Couldn't finish the egg?" Kyou asked, an attempt to strike some sort of conversation with Kaze. But instead Kaze made a face and acted out a half vomitting gesture, telling Kyou that the boiled egg tasted bad. "I want candy..." Kaze pouted as he stared longingly at Kyou.
"Nope, you had one earlier and I'm not about to give you anymore." Kyou said sternly, putting both his hands on his waist.
"Ouwaaah..." Kaze cried half-heartedly. One candy per day was the rule of the house all this while, especially with Kyou. This Kaze knew very well. But if it were Lazarus who was taking care of him, sometimes he could persuade Laz to give him more than once. Usually with continuous whines and cries that annoyed the hell out of Laz. "Well, at least bring me to the TV then? There's nothing to do here..."
Alright, at least this is a reasonable request, Kyou thought. Although the heat from the cup had remitted a little, but it was still hot enough to burn one's hand if they held long enough on it. Kyou grabbed a towel that was sitting beside Kaze's cup, it was still slightly warm. Carefully he wrapped the towel around Kaze's cup, filtering some of the heat so that he don't get any burns. Then he brought Kaze into the living area where the TV is. Setting down Kaze on the small table next to the couch he grabbed the remote and switched on the TV.
"Here you go, now I'm going back to work in the lab now. Take care okay? If there's anything wrong just shout for Lazarus." Kyou instructed as he gave Kaze a tiny pat on the head before he turned around and headed back into the lab.

It seems as if whatever is the matter with Kaze has a vengeance out for Laz. The normally green of Kaze's liquid turns an eye-catching pink, as does Kaze, and everything that gets near him. It spreads like a disease.

"Lazarus~~!! LAZARUS!!!!" Kaze shouted, but there were no response. "Aaaaw man, Lazarus where are you? I'M ALRIGHT NOW!!!" He continued to yell, lying about his condition.
Kaze had in fact found a new amusement. When he realised he was glowing pink just now he had called for Lazarus's help, or at least asked him to check on him. But the expression plastered on Lazarus's face when he realised what shade of color Kaze was, was TOO FUNNY to missed out! Lazarus had promptly fled the living room then and had never came back... yet. But Kaze wanted to see that expression again.
"I'm not lying!! The pink had faded off now like it did on your hand!!" Kaze continued to shout into air, expecting Lazarus to come around the door again soon. But he didn't. "Lazarus... come back..." finally tired, his voice weaken and trailed off at the last sentence. Sitting back into his cup, he sighed heavily like how Kyou always does when he was stressed out. Although it's not like Kaze really know how it feels like. The pink liquid reaching his chin as he splashed it around, musing at the bright pink color. Though he still preferred his water to be the usual green, but this is quite a refreshing change. The liquid somehow smelt a little bit different than usual too, it smells a little more... salty? Definitely not the usual tea fragrance. Drawing little circles in the liquid, he wondered how long he could keep this pink colored tea?
