Kaveri breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm glad you came here, I was going to go check on you," she said. She was glad Jamal didn't seem involved in this, the poor man had been through enough already with the cage debacle. "Actually, hey." She leaned over to whisper in Jamal's ear, cupping her hand around her mouth so the satyr can't hear it.

After she finishes whispering, she takes a step back. "So do you think you wanna help me with this? We'll be going out to the jungle."

She looked over her shoulder at Stewart. "You wanna go with us, too?"

Thank God, Stewart thought he would never stop staring at him. But go to the jungle? He looked at her for a few moment trying to figure out what she was up yo "Sure, I guess" He said "But what exactly are we looking for?"

"Bastards can't keep me down fo' long," he said with a smirk but listened to Kaveri whispers anyway. Jamal drew back when she was finished, giving her curious look, but nodded.

"...I ain't got nuthin' betta to do," he said, deciding not to comment and give away anything that she had said because surely she had whispered it for a reason.

"Great," Kaveri forced a smile, pulling the two extra flashlights out of her hoodie pocket and handing them to Stewart and Jamal. "Thank you guys, both of you."

"Jamal, I'm going to need your help the most -- I'm assuming you have a good sense of smell, if you smell old blood in the air, can you tell me where it's coming from?" She looked at Stewart. "We're looking for... well, clues, to sound redundant. There's a place I want to go to. There... there'll be a lot of blood on the ground. It'll stink a lot. It was a clearing of some kind... I don't remember exactly where it is, I've never been there before that time I woke up."

She motioned for the two of them to leave the cafeteria, starting towards the door. "Let's go."

He muttered a thanks as she handed the flashlight to him, he hated the sight of blood. Ugh, but if there was a lot of it there....Sweet mother of mystery! "Was there a murder here!?!" He asked suddenly his eyes growing wide with fear.

Jamal took the offered flashlight, giving Kaveria an appraising lookover, before glancing at Stewart. The gaze was icy at best.

"Maybe," he said with a grunt before motioning for them both to follow.

"I kin sense blood jus' fine," he commented as they were on the way out. "I smell it enough ta know how it smells."

"An attempted one," she told Stewart before she went out the door, "the loudspeaker said she was still alive... just barely."

Once outside, she flicked on the flashlight, beaming it out in front of her. "Hmm... where to start..?" Going straight into the jungle would potentially mean trouble. Kaveri waved the light around, taking a few steps forward. "Let's go down this road by the jungle and see what we find," she pointed. She had hoped she wasn't too far away for Jamal to not catch any blood scent.

Stewart walked out closely following the vulture girl, he was a total coward. He shouldn't be out here looking for god knows what, why did he just not stay in his duplex?!? Now he was in the middle of a real life version of the Blair Witch Project. Shivering he asked Kaveri in a shakey voice "S-So what exactly are we looking for? Evidence? Was she...shot?"

Jamal seemingly had no use for the flashlight as he tucked it into the waistband of his jeans, walking ahead of the other two with a look of growing concentration on his face. He heard her comment about walking down the road, so he did so, but he didn't say anything to either of them...he just walked.

He could very faintly make out the metallic sting of blood in the air, but he couldn't identify it as anyone's in particular. Who knows whom else might have been injured.

Regardless of this fact, he moved abruptly to the jungle and pawed aside the brush, whiskers quivering as the tiger's awareness sharpened. It could smell the blood now too.

"I don't think anyone on this island, save for the guards, would be allowed to carry guns," Kaveri reassured Stewart, then paused for a bit as Jamal went ahead of them. She tilted her head, picking up her speed until she was just a few feet away from him at the edge of the jungle.

"Did you pick something up already?" Kaveri asked, "Which way is it coming from?"

The stretch of road between the village and the labs actually was a good couple of miles long - a trip that was almost nothing in one of the jeeps, but a considerable walk on foot. About a third of the way to the Laboratories (facing the labs from the village) is one of the familiar Feral Labs jeeps sits off to the edge of the road, the tires thoroughly mired in the mud.

About a mile further down the road, Jamal picks up the scent of blood to the left/West. The familiar clearing that Kaveria and Emelyn had found earlier is a few hundred yards off into the jungle.

The clearing where Aubrey was found was exactly the same as when they would have left it. The rains had washed away any recoganizable footprints. The tire tracks from the Jeep led away from the scene towards the road. In the middle of the small clearing was the puddle of mud, water, and blood Aubrey was found. A few animals would scamper away as they approached.

The hot, humid island air did nothing for the smell. The stench of blood still hung heavily in the air. The ground was an off reddish-brown. It would look innocent enough had you not known the red tint was from the mix of human blood. The ground was still muddy, but not dry, leaving the whole ground allmost paste-like.

"No...nothing yet. There's too many smells right now. Let's keep goin'."

The man started a brisk walk; he was used to long hikes by now.

--Quite awhile later--

They had passed the jeep a long while ago, which Jamal investigated only briefly as it was soon deduced it wouldn't do them any good as it was stuck beyond help and so they have continued on, Jamal playing bloodhound in front. He was starting to doubt what Kaveri had told him when suddenly he caught something on the wind.

Jamal made a grunting noise and turned his head a bit, as though gauging the air in some way or another, and didn't respond immediately. He was, as dangerous as it was for those involved, letting the tiger have a bit more reign. Luckily for Kaveri, the smell of blood in the air was strong enough to keep the animal's attention.

"It's faint...real faint...but I smell it," he finally muttered, waving absently for her to follow.

Kaveri took note of the jeep, if only for the sake of a landmark while she was travelling. She didn't think it was that important, there couldn't have been more to it than just a jeep stuck in the mud... it wasn't gonna budge any time soon.

She was starting to lose hope. What if the rain had washed the scent away? But then she heard Jamal speak, and she lifted her head a few inches and perked her brows with interest. "Alright," she said, hurrying up ahead to follow him. She hoped this was the right place and not a false lead... or worse yet, another body.

Jamal continued down the road for a few more yards before abruptly veering into the jungle and being swallowed by the foliage. He was onto SOMETHING...whether or not it was what Kaveri was wanting, who knew. The blood had something it that was vaguely familiar.

"Come on, hurry it up," Jamal growled at both, though he wasn't paying much more attention them aside from that snapped comment. Stewart had fallen silent and that was just fine. It would save the goat man from being a possible appetizer. He was practically leaping through the jungle now, his eyes working well enough in the dark to allow such rapid movements without fear of hurting himself. As he went, the scent was growing stronger and the tiger was also getting stronger.

As the trees started to thin out, Jamal drew a firmer grip on the big cat's grasp and slowed his pace. This had to be it.
