Well they they were both equally oblivious. Which was likely a good thing in the end.

Keanu nodded to the words, not surprised. He'd figured princesses would like making things pretty. They liked nice things to begin with, so wouldn't they want others to have nice things like them? For all the world that logic made sense to him, even if REAL queens and kings had been mean in the past, in the books he read they where kind. So any he met had to match that system. "I bet your dragon will really like it, home made things are better than fancy stuff anyway." Ok, so most of his things where bought, but Ymir really liked the thing he earned for him, so that meant home made things where better too. Certainly it was true for when Haru had cooked. it was much better than that stuff that was occaisionally brought home pre-made. So home made was better than store bought. "I like home made things more anyway. So I'm sure your dragon will to."

Now the part about sewing... Well Keanu might have related a bit, but he'd already had his problem solved. "Ohh, yea! I wanted to learn how to use a sword, but no one would teach me. But I found a teacher. So you just need to keep looking for one! Then you'll learn how, I'm sure of it! I bet you'll make really nice clothes!" Which was true. From what he could tell she was seemed like she'd be good at that delicate precise stuff. He couldn't sit still long enough to do it, but he was good at other things to make up for it all. "You'll have to show me the pretty things you make once you learn how."

Obviously he hadn't minded the conversation but at the mention of games his gaze turned to the structure around him. He hadn't payed much mind to it until now, but... One ear flicked. The idea that came up was heros and dragons, but the part of him that was trying to be more concious of what others wanted tossed it out. A princess might not want to have to play a game where she's stuck kidnapped bya dragon, it wasn't much fun for anyone else. Instead of blurting out that game, he nodded at one of her suggestions. "I haven't played on the swings in a while. Slides are always fun too, though." Which left it fairly open. Keanu tended to like all aspects of the playground. From the monkeybars to those things where you held on and people spun you around. So any of Earako's suggestions couldn't have done wrong.

Keanu was pretty easy to please.

He started out toward where the edge of the structure ended, and the sun began to hit again, pausing to glance back at the girl. "Which one you want to play on?"

Ymir on the other hand... Would have liked the hero, and dragon idea. He'd have been stuck with the 'kidnapped' princess. Which meant more time to mooch some snuggles off of her. Oh well, seeing as it wasn't suggested, he'd have to toddle along and find something to amuse himself wherever they ended up.

If there was one thing Earako needed almost as much as air, it was constant positive reinforcement. If Keanu had been less encouraging, their meeting would be going differently, with a very shy young bat emerging. As it was, the pale child was all but preening, and seemed to glow with energy.

Did he really think she could do it? Surely, if he learned how to use a sword, she could learn how to use a needle. How complicated could it be, really? And it would save her the trouble of having to convince her Da' to spend a day shopping with her in the city. It was hard to find the type of clothes she liked, and her Da' was always trying to lead her to less pretty things. "I guess I could try to find a teacher. I didn't think to ask anyone who wasn't family."

But enough, she'd spent far too much time talking about herself. She hadn't realized it at first, but now that she did, well, it was going to change! Yeah. Stepping out of the shade, she scanned the park, trying to decide what they should play first. She did love the swings, and the spinning thing. The monkey bars were too hard for her, though.

"Lets go on the swings, then. We can see who can jump the furthest!" Apparently the 'princess' wasn't too lady like. "Unless, I mean, can you do that with your eye all bandaged?" She asked, concerned again. He'd already hit his head once, after all.

Well Keanu rarely said anything he didn't mean. So if he said it he meant it, thus his thoughts where synchronized with what came out of his mouth. Be it in a confusing jumble, or something people could make sense if. Eh, it didn't really matter to him either way. It made sense to him. That was that.

"Well I only have mum as family, the others live there, but they're not family. So I had to ask outside for sure. Besides, other people teach you really new things, you've gotta be willing to look around." He called in reply o her statement, before grinning at the next suggestion.

Oh there she'd gone and done it. Kanu was a sucker for competition. He'd never gloat, but he loved to test how good he could do things. And he was pretty good at swinging up high, and jumping. Jumping was something his teacher, Miss Lilly, had taught him he was good at. He'd taken to practicing that too. He could sometimes catch bugs out of the air if he was lucky. He'd catch that little dragon named Muffin, oh yes he could.

"Don't worry about me. This is nothing!" He called, starting to race toward the swings, and turning part of the way to run backwards to ensure he didn't leave her behind. "You're going to be okay jumping off them though? I didn't know a princess could do things like that." It seemed everyone could be full of surprises, didn't it?

Swings where not made for dragons though, so with a slight quiet chirp, the dragon trailed after, before veering toward a well placed tree. He'd watch from the shade, it was better than being stuck in that seering heat.

Well, if he said he was ok, Earako wasn't about to argue. After all, he had to know his own limits right. Oh sure, she'd seen him knock himself down, but that was just one little instance. Maybe he'd be more careful now. "Well, we'll stop if you get dizzy or anything." A bit of a motherly tone there, brought on by concern.

At Keanu's comment about her being ok with jumping from the swings she giggled despite herself. She could still remember the wingers class, and how all the winged D-corp kids had taken a fall, one after another. She'd done it when she lost her sun glasses, but now that she kept them tied around her head it wasn't such a problem.

Opening her dark wings to their fullest extent, she grinned at Keanu. "Don't worry about me. I'm not very good at flying yet, but I practice jumping and gliding all the time." Sure, it usually ended in her breaking something, and Da' getting upset or worried, but that wasn't the point. "But I won't use them while we jump. That wouldn't be fair."

Looking over her shoulder, she saw Kyle, still following at a reasonable distance. He wasn't as bad as her Da', but he was still paranoid, and she knew he wouldn't let her out of his line of sight, or out of his range of hearing. "Kyle, hold this for me, please?" She called, closing her parasol, and holding it out toward the man. "I can't while I'm swinging."

Sure, the sun was a bit bright, but she couldn't spend all her time hiding. As long as they didn't play in it too long, she'd be ok. And if she started to get a bit dizzy, well, same as him. They'd stop.

He shook his head. Dizzy? Nah, he'd be fine. He was only dizzy earlier because he'd been spinning onthe ground. Even Tai-Yun was beginning to admit the he was fairly indestructable. "I'll be fine, don't worry about me. I couldn't be a knight if a playing could cause me trouble, or if I let a little scratch get me done." It was more than a scratch, but he didn't let it worry him. It'd get better with time, so it was nothing.

He gave her a slight look of admiration at the wings, getting to see they where actually large enought o hold her. "You're lucky. I wish I could fly. Maybe when Ymir's older. But I guess if we all had wings it wouldn't make it so special?" He tilted his head to one side. "And practice makes everything better. I always practice a lot so I can improve." And that was when he should have been looking where he went, because he bumped into the bar that held up the swings on one side. Nope, Keanu still wasn't very careful, but he laughed, and rubbed the back of his head lightly to it all.

He definitely was not a shining beacon of perfection. But he couldn't be something he wasn't, so it was all well enough. Turning so he could see where he was going as the girl gave the keeper who was stalking them the parasol before turning her attention back.

That parent reminded him of Raja, always hounding around worrying and stuff. It was a real bother, but maybe it was necessary for a princess. A knight however, did not need to be taken care of. He could deal with his own problems.

Quickly finding a set of swings next to each other so they'd be able to judge distance better, he paused to wait for Earako before sitting down on one. "Your family keeps a close eye on you. Tai hates having to be out here watching me." He commented, laughing. It was true, the other leopard had found a nice shaded bench and zoned out as soon as he could. "Ymir's the only one who comes with me other than mum. But mum's usually busy so I get to be on my own a lot. Or as alone as possibly with Ymir around."

He started to kick himself off swinging lightly, and trying to gain speed as he did. He'd definitely make sue to get a good jump, the best he could.

"I think flying mostly means a lot of falling. At least it does for me." Earako admitted, not wanting to sound like she had been bragging. She tucked her wings tight to her body, they'd interfere with jumping, and even though they'd help with distance, she'd already promised not to use them. The game would be no fun if she ended up at the other side of the park. "We'll all be able to fly with dragons. Well, except maybe the kids who's dragons don't have wings. I've seen some pictures of those types. Do you think there'll be any?"

At the second bump of the day for Keanu, Earako winced visably. Maybe she should have held his hand. He didn't seem to be all that good at walking with one eye. Then again, maybe he needed the practice. "You're ok, still?" She asked, double checking despite the laughter.

Taking a seat in the swings, but not yet moving, she waved to Kyle. "Da' says he's seen too much to trust anyone anymore. He says I gots to be careful." The idea didn't bother her in the least. Her family loved her, and if they were all a bit paranoid, well, they knew more than she did. "It's not so bad."

With that, she started working on getting some elevation in the swing, regetting somewhat that she hadn't just asked Kyle to push her. It was so much easier that way. But this was good too. And she could get high all by herself.

He raised an eyebrow to the comment about flying. "A ton of falling, huh?" He murmured, flicking an ear. He'd have to find out if that was true when Ymir started using those wings of his a lot. Which was a good question. when would that dragon try to get itself off the ground? For now it seemed he was content to walk along, but he was getting bigger too. With time he'd be wanting to fly, right? Hmm...

"Yeah, there are dragons without wings." He'd actually run into a few already. "Sahra's dragon's a lindworm. It only has two legs, and no wings. And Simon has a water dragon. It has fins." If there was one thing Keanu was good at remembering besides his forms in classes, it was facts about dragons. Simply because it interested him.

Of course Keanu had some trouble with only one eye. To liken it to the effects ona real cat would be to say someone had cut off one side of his whiskers. Of course, he didn't have whiskers, but the point was it lefthim off balance. Thankfully, Keanu was made sturdy, or this might have been a real problem. "I'm fine, princess." He called in reply. Yeah, as long as he didn't bump into something too awful he'd be alright.

"Mmm, I think mum agrees with your da.' But my mum has to work most of the time, so someone else keeps an eye on me. Not that I need it." He added, with a grin, trying to get higher ot he swing by pumping his legs in the proper motion and swinging with it to gain momentum. "And they usually don't worry too much. They know I can take care ofmyself." Which was just another of those opinions he had, wasn't it?

"And Ymir's with me. No ones going to want to argue with a dragon. Don't you think?"
PostPosted: Tue May 16, 2006 9:07 am

"I think my dragon is supposed to have wings." Earako replied, while pumping her own legs to gain more height. She turned her head to the side so she could see Keanu while swinging. "I sure hope so. I promised I'd take Isabel flying when it got big enough..."

"My Da' is mostly only gone at nights. That's when Kyle watches me. But today, he had stuff to do, I guess. Something with his pictures, I think." She liked her Da's photography, though she didn't like pictures taken of herself. Not that she was very good with his cameras, but she tried to think of his photos when drawing her own pictures.

As she started getting really high, Earako turned away from Keanu, enjoying the feeling of the swing, which wasn't much like flying, but also took much less of her focus. And she liked being able to relax and just enjoy swinging. Soon, she'd be high enough to jump. She had a feeling that she wouldn't be able to out jump Keanu, not without her wings anyway. he was bigger, and stronger than she was. But still, it'd be fun to try.

"I know I wouldn't want to make a dragon mad."

"Mm, I think the wings are really useful. Ymir flies sometimes, but he's not old enough to ride." He replied continuing to shift his legs as he worked to get higher. "But if they said your dragon would have wings, I'm sure it will." Unless of course they messed up with her's like his. They'd said Ymir was a frost dragon, but it turned out he was only half frost dragon. An interesting fact, but he didn't care. Ymir was Ymir, and that was all that mattered.

"Mum is gone randomly. Sometimes she's out durring the day, but then calls sometimes come in late at night." He replied, as he swung backwards, then back up again still attempting to get higher. "Mum has pictures around the house in frames. Those kind of pictures?" He didn't see how those could get in the way of babysitting someone. They didn't really do much. They sat there. Enough said. Still, he porably didn't know all the facts, just like he didn't know much about sewing except that it involved making clothes and things.

At this point it was time to get ready to jump though, and he silenced himself long enough for a few last good swings before letting go of the chains and more or less hurtling himself into the air. Not exactly graceful as one would hope, but he did go sailing a good distance before landing on his feet. Though he had to use his front hands to keep from summersaulting in the process. He glanced behind him quickly to see if he'd gotten very far and it was alright. Nothing he was particularly proud of, which suggested there would be 'training' on this later, but good enough for now. What it came down to was if the princess would do better than he.

"The kind you take with a camera." Earako replied moving as if to make a fitting gesture before realizing that it was probably not the best time for speaking with ones hands. "Sometimes they put them in places so people can look at them and buy them. Galrees. And sometimes Da' goes too. He says it's boring, mostly."

That said, the vampire bat was again distracted by the need to reach even greater hights, pumping her legs in an even rhythm, and noticing that she was reaching the point at which the chains jerked at the very peak of each swing. It'd be good to jump soon.

Before she had the chance, her new friend did. She watched him move through the air, and hit the ground. He was good at this game! Oh well, all that was left to do was jump as well, even if she wouldn't really go as far as he did. She could try. Giggling as she released the chains, she was able to land a fair distance from the swing, opening her wings only at the last moment to steady herself for a graceful landing.

She hadn't quite reached Keanu's mark, despite making a good try of it, but she laughed anyway, clapping her hands together and bouncing a bit in place. "You really jumped far!"

Now, where did Kyle go with her parasol?

With a camera, ah yea. He knew about those, but his mum didn't usually have to many of those. She didn't seem to like people taking her picture much, not that he knew why. "Oooh, those kind!" He exclaimed as he watched the girl momentarily releasing the swing before putting hr hands back before she fell off. "Galrees? I didn't know they'd go into things like that. pictures must be popular." Which made him wonder all the more why his mum didn't like them much.

The girl landed shortly after he had, though her thud was much lighter. Well she was made for flight, so she'd be built lighter. That made sense to him anyway. However as he turned it proved to have been also the added help of her wings that made the act far more graceful than his, for lack of a better word anyway. Then again, he'd never been the most delicate about how he did things anyway. "It wasn't that great." He replied with a light grin. "But you went a lot farther than I thought you would, you're not bad at this at all! I didn't know a princess would be good at stuff like this." Which brought a new question to mind. What else might princesses be good at that they never showed in the stories..? It might be good to try and look into that, then he'd be able to save them in better ways? Knowing what you're dealing with was always a good thing.

Still that would need to wait, at least for a moment. His new friend seemed to be looking for something, as to what though, well asking usually got an answer. "Hmm, you need something?" He glanced around as well trying to figure out what was needed possibly from just sight, but as usual, nothing came to mind. "I can go get it for you if you want, princess!" If he knew what he was looking for he could certainly find and retrieve it though. Helping people, especially royalty, was the job of a hero afterall and he was all to happy to help.

Now that the excitement of the swings was wearing off, the full experiance of the heat was returning. Pulling her wings away from her body, Earako shifted uncomfortably from foot to foot. The light was so bright! Even with sunblock and sunglasses, the extra protection of her parasol was what made her able to stand being outside on such a sunny day.

"Kyle's got my parasol," she replied, pointing in the direction of her guardian for the day. For the first time since they'd arrived, he wasn't watching her closely. In fact, it looked like he was talking on his cell phone with someone. He still faced in their general direction, but was clearly unaware of her discomfort.

"And I'm thirsty." The added request was made almost absently, as the albino bat licked her lips. It was the distracted nature of the second request that made her pause, blinking at Keanu as she realized that she'd started to allow his willingness to serve make her bossy. Lifting a gloved hand to her face, she blushed, the colour bright on her pale skin.

"I'm sorry." The apology was made in a whisper, as Earako shifted her weight guiltily. "I didn't mean that you had to get it, I just... I mean..."

What did she mean?

The heat wouldn't take too long to start bothering Keanu, but even as she absent mindedly stated what she wanted the boy ignored it. He had a short mission to attend to, and water. Well not water, but some sort of beverage, he'd need to figure out where to get that in a second. "Alright, princess!" He called cheerily seeming not to notice her next statement. Heaven forbid he refuse a lady a polite request. So after only a brief moment the boy darted off in the direction of the man who was all too distracted. Ah yes, it was certainly too late to take back those little requests.

That was simply no way to to treat a lady, ignoring her by being on the phone. Then again, he just wasn't too fond of the thing in general. Talking to someone in person got the message across much faster than any electronic device anyone had come up with yet. Letters could be alright, but you just didn't see how someone really felt unless you saw their face as they said it. Still, this person was the caretaker of a princess, and so someone to treat with some courtesy. So even as he scampered up he waited a brief moment before stating in a quieter voice than usual that he wanted the parasol. He held out his hand to take the item while glancing around briefly.

Drink... drink.... he needed to find something to get her to drink too once he delivered the parasol. Not to mention find some shade, he hadn't been paying attention earlier, but it was getting hotter. Maybe it was just because he'd run over here, but it wouldn't do if he ended up stopping halfway through his mission. That would simply be rude, which meant he needed to find the latest answer soon. About the time he delivered item number one.

Maybe there ws a place to buy one nearby? Or a fountain somewhere? Had he seen any place like that earlier? Wasn't there a machine near that store on the corner? The kind you put coins into and you can get a drink out of it, it wasn't too far. Just back out of the park a bit and across a street. That would be fast enough right? He'd just need to make sure he had a bit of change in his pocket.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 10, 2006 10:41 am

Well, she clearly hadn't gotten her objections out in time. Or Keanu just didn't care as much about her apology as he did about her requests. She hadn't meant to send him running after her parasol! It was just so hard to remember not to be bossy, when someone was asking to do things for you.

Maybe, in this case at least, it wasn't completely her fault.

Princess. Earako wasn't sure exactly what a princess did, though it apparently had something to do with letting other people get your things for you. But with him getting her things, she was left with no choice but to stand in the sunlight and watch him. She saw Kyle flash him a smile as he handed the parasol over. That was a good sign, even Kyle could get grry sometimes, though not as grry as Da'.

She shifted her weight again, trying not to remember what her Da' had said about the stupidity of wearing black in the sunlight. She didn't like looking boring, and most colours made her fade away completely, so that all you could see was what she was wearing. That's what the mirror told her, and no attempts by family to say otherwise did any good.

The light was intense. Maybe, maybe she'd just sit down. She'd be too dizzy to stand soon.

Being a princess was harder than she'd thought.

It would likely have taken a full response that she didn't even want the objects to get the boy to stop. At which point he'd have been rather confused, but he would have complied. To him the act of aiding her was not a problem, the idea that he was being of use to a princess was reward enough for any time the acts would take. Thus when he was handed the parasol with a quick smile he returned it before quickly turning heel to rush back.

Obviously not quickly enough.

The princess was now seated on the ground, which simply wouldn't do. Putting on what little more speed he could force out of himself he rushed back, being careful not to hurt the obviously delicate item he now had. Anything of a princess' had to be fragile, thus one had to be very careful with it. Thus he made a note ot slow down a bit before he reached where Earako was sitting so not to skid to a stop as he sometimes did. He walked the few last paces to get back before holding out the parasol to her with a smile. "Sorry that took so long, Prncess. What kind of drink do you want?" He was sure the machine had water, and... soda? That's what they usually had. He prefered water himself, but who knew what a princesses liked though. He was just a hero, he didn't have the refined tastes that royal did. "I'll go get whatever it is for you." Assuming he could find it, hopefully it was something easy enough.
